10 - I am no Jedi

{Y/N'S POV}

I tread through the forest until I came face to face with my palace, the home in which I was raised in. I felt secure knowing I was back at the place where I felt closest to my family, but then again it was also the place where my family was taken from me. I sneak through the stone archway and towards the large the wall where I knew vines grew on the side, proving to be a sturdy ladder. I know this because of Ayzel always sneaking back into the palace when he was way past his curfew. I grabbed onto the vines and hoisted myself up, scaling the wall until I reached the first window.

Ayzel taught me a trick for this too: tap the bolts on the bottom left hand corner of the glass until it opened. I never had a reason to use this trick, but I pray now that he wasn't just messing with me all those years ago. I find the bolts on the huge window and start tapping, careful not to alert any guards or staff. I kept tapping, almost willing for the window to open. Luckily as I heard a click, the window creaked and opened. I swung my legs over the frame and landed on the hard wooden floor, slowly shutting the window behind me. I made sure that no one could see me and made a dash to my room. I'm on the 3rd floor, where Sarin's office is, and my brother's study was, my bedroom is on the 4th floor.

I walked down the hall as I was in the clear, admiring the painting of my late mother and brother covered with an opaque, black material in respect for their deaths. The hallways felt warm, so the staff must have lit up the fireplaces. I continued to walk until I notice an open door, hearing voices inside. It was Sarin's office. I pressed my body to the wall and inched towards the door.

"To the future!" I heard someone toast, it sounded much like Sarin's deputy, Gito, an old man who I did not care for either.

"Senator, now that the Clone Wars is being brought to Solaris... what is to become of the Princess and her succession to Queen Rokka's throne?" I hear another ask, who I recognized to be my handmaiden, Raya.

"I do believe that we have no need for a monarch, don't you agree? I believe that democracy between our Government and people is fitting for our new system," Sarin said, chuckling to himself.

"But Senator, the Queen's last wish was that the Princess take the throne-"

"Enough Raya, the Princess wields no power against us. There is only one last member of the Anara bloodline, and I have reason to believe she is unfit to be Queen. How can we let one of Rokka's children take control? You remember why the Queen chose the Princess to succeed despite Prince Ayzel being the first-born. He was clearly unfit, and there is no doubt (y/n) is as well."

I want to punch him right in his disgusting mouth.

"She will not be pleased, Senator," Raya protested, defending me.

"She's just a naïve child, who cares if she is pleased? Besides, she's on a different planet, she can't do anything to stop us. I for one, believe that Senator Sarin is the perfect choice for Solaris," Gito said, clinking glasses with Sarin.

"But-"

"Don't you have chores to do Raya? Go and fetch us more drinks," Sarin spat. There was silence and Raya left the office, turning to go to the kitchen. I prayed she doesn't turn back and spot me, but luckily she continues facing forwards. I felt bad for her, she was defending me against those vile men and I couldn't go to back her up in thanks. She's always been like a big sister to me, to be fair. I decide to listen in on the two men for a little longer.

"Congratulations Nios, you deserve it," Gito says to Sarin.

"Well, we're not fully out of the woods just yet, Gito. We still have the Princess to deal with. Apparently according to those insufferable Jedi we hired, she's somehow made her way back to Solaris. How could you lose her? I'm surprised that Skywalker hasn't found a way to keep her occupied. If it was me, I'd just give her something shiny to focus on," Sarin laughed, making Gito laugh also.

A shiny thing? What am I, an animal?

"I heard that Skywalker is actually quite incompetent, Senator. They say he's the chosen one, but I think he's a very poor excuse for a Jedi indeed. Especially if he can't keep track of that child," Gito retorted. I curled my fist in retaliation, how dare they insult Anakin this way!

"Well, I must leave you now Gito, I am to check upon the new battalions being stationed at Vis," Sarin said, placing his glass on the table and walking out. He steps out of the room, and unfortunately turns my way.

"You, who are you and what are you doing here?" he stared at me suspiciously, eyeing my lightsaber. I hoped that he wouldn't be able to identify me because of Anakin's hood covering my eyes and nose.

"I uhh, I'm one of the Jedi that were sent to locate the Princess sir," I said, disguising my voice, keeping my eyes directed to the floor at his boots.

"Very well, run along. I want you to find her as soon as possible."

I exhale as Sarin lets me pass with no further questions and I speed-walk down the corridor, Anakin's oversized robe billowing out behind me. I practically run to my room on the fourth floor. After climbing the spiralled stone steps, I step out onto the hallway of where my bedroom was. As I walked, I noticed a figure standing at my door. They were helmeted, and so I couldn't identify them. They wore a tight leather body suit and black coat, and had a blaster sheathed in their belt. I reached for my lightsaber and held it behind my back as I approach them.

"Hey, you! What are you doing there." I call out to them, my hands tightening the grasp on my lightsaber hilt. They turned to me, and I got a full look at their helmet. It was a sleek black with red and silver details {pic above at start of chapter} ... where have I seen them before?

'I look up to the sky and spot a masked individual on the rooftops, grasping a large gun and a grenade in their hand. '

'Our attention is directed to the far side of the corridor, where another masked individual was stood grasping a blaster.'

'They looked just as the assassin on Solaris did.'

It was them. The assassin.

"None of your business, Jedi," they snapped, their voice sounding almost robotic.

I pulled my hood down as they observed me. I ripped my (y/h/c) hair out of my braid and stood to face them. They shuffled back a little, realising who I was. I saw their hands reach for their blaster slowly.

"I am no Jedi." I say, igniting my lightsaber. The assassin tries to shoot at me, but I deflect the attack with my lightsaber, causing the shot to fire back at them and hitting them in the shoulder. They grasped their arm but let out a mechanical laugh.

"Catch me if you can, Princess."

I retract my lightsaber and try to clip it back on my belt as the assassin began to run. I struggled to reach my belt through the masses of black material which was Anakin's robe. I longingly look at the assassin and then back at the robe. I remove it from my shoulders and leave it in a heap on the floor as I sprint after my attacker. I become really tired after following them around countless stairs, twists and turns but I persevere. I am so close to catching them and I am not letting them get away.

I chase them into the vast library where the only escape was the window, which happened to be five stories from the ground outside. I see the assassin search for an escape frantically and I shut the door behind me.

{ TW: Violence }

"End of the line, my friend. Stop being a coward and fight me," I yell at them, igniting my lightsaber once again. I hold it in front of me menacingly, the blue light illuminating my angry face. The assassin unclipped their cloak, letting it fall to the floor and took out their blaster.

I charged, swinging my lightsaber at them. They dodged the swing by jumping over the blade and grabbed at a spear displayed on the wall. I laugh; did they really think they could take a lightsaber with a metal rod? I kick them in the throat, making them collapse onto the floor, the spear going flying across the room. I could hear their robotic gasp as they hold their neck, straining and coughing for air. I point their lightsaber at them, just above their heart.

I had a sudden desire to just plunge my saber into their chest. They have caused me so much suffering over the past few months, and they are going to pay for it. I felt a different type of feeling wash over me as I lust for the desire to kill them. As I imagined the thought of watching them writhe in the searing pain inflicted from my lightsaber, I grin and I could feel a sort of darkness sweep through my body, elevating my heart rate. I stared directly into their eyes (well at least I thought I was) and saw my reflection in their helmet. The longer I stared, the more I noticed something out of place. My eyes... were they yellow?

Catching me off guard, the assassin kicks the lightsaber from my hand and punches me in my face. I dodge them as they attempt to shoot at me, rolling across the floor to retrieve my lightsaber. I grip it in my hand again and circle the assassin. They attempt to shoot at me several times, but I manage to either dodge or deflect the attacks each time. As I am face to face with them, the dark desire of wanting to murder them returned, making me run at them. I run at an unnatural speed, and before the assassin could even begin to notice what was going, I burn their arm with the blue blade of my lightsaber, causing them to fall to the floor and their helmet come loose. It falls from their head, making the assassin pick themselves up immediately and sprint to the window. They smash the glass with their blaster and jump out in a desperate attempt to protect their identity.

"NO!" I scream.

I was so close. I didn't even get to find out their identity. How could I let them get away!

I stare down and approach their helmet discarded on the floor, along with a small splatter of blood from their injuries. I kneel down and hold the helmet in my hand, feeling a wave of rage wash over me. I yell in frustration and punch my fist on the floor, not caring about the shattering pain it caused me.

I had failed.

{ANAKIN'S POV}

Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and I arrived at (y/n)'s palace, landing in the forest where an X-Wing had landed. I assumed that it was hers, as it was a Republic ship and no other Jedi had been sent here. We run to the palace and allow ourselves entry. I look around at the stone walls, paintings and exotic displays. It was beautiful; no wonder (y/n) missed her home so much. As we walk up the large staircase, a sense of comfort is brought to me as I feel closer to her. Obi-Wan takes in his surroundings as Ahsoka leads at the front of the group.

"We should start 1 floor at a time," Obi-Wan said. I nod and we begin to scour the first and second floors. Nothing. We try the third floor, and still nothing. By the time we reached the fourth floor, I was losing hope more quickly. As we step onto the fourth floor hallway, I notice something odd. It was a piece of clothing just randomly discarded on the floor outside of a door.

I speed-walk to the material and pick it up as Ahsoka looks into the room it was outside of.

"This is (y/n)'s room, Masters," Ahsoka said, looking to Obi-Wan, who was staring at the black clothing in my hand. I turn it around in my hand and my eyes widen when I realise what it was.

It's my robe.

"She's close, this way." I throw my robe on my shoulders and start running to the stairways that lead to the fifth and final floor. There was only one door on this corridor. As I run towards the corridor, I noticed lightsaber strikes on the walls.

"Master Obi-Wan, look," Ahsoka pointed to the walls. Obi-Wan nodded and did his signature beard stroke.

"Well observed, Ahsoka. These are lightsaber burns."

I ignore the two of them as they study the slashes. I use the force to open the grand wooden doors and walk into the room. It was a huge library, which I could estimate over 2000 books were displayed in. My eyes travelled to the centre of the stone floor and notice a girl sat cross-legged in a small pool of blood, grasping a helmet in her hands. I could notice her anywhere. My heart stopped for a minute and I tried to regain my breath.

"(y/n)!" I call, making the girl turn to face me. She stands up and watches as I run over to her. I pull her into a hug, picking her up and swinging her around in a circle. "Thank the force you're safe Princess."

She smiles weakly and stares at the helmet in her blood-stained hands. Before I could say anything else, I saw Ahsoka running across the room and pulling (y/n) into a hug also, tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry (y/n), they wouldn't stop interrogating me, I had to tell them. You really scared me!" Ahsoka says and squeezes (y/n), who smiles and buries her face in Ahsoka's neck.

"It's ok, 'Soka. I'm ok." she says quickly, trying to hide the bruise on her eye. My fists clench, and I find myself suddenly seething with fury.

"What the hell is that, Princess," I say as she pulls out of Ahsoka's embrace. I press my finger gently on the bruise, careful not to hurt her.

"It's nothing, Anakin. I was fighting with the assassin-"

"You WHAT?!"

"Calm yourself Anakin," Obi-Wan said, approaching me. He places a gentle hand on (y/n)'s shoulder, making me tense up a little at the sight. "I'm glad you're safe, my lady."

(y/n) nods to him. "The assassin was outside of my room, I'm sure they was about to place a trap but they caught me. I revealed my identity and we started fighting. I followed them into the library and I trapped them at a dead end. I had already deflected a shot to their shoulder, and I kicked them in the neck... they punched me back in the face while I wasn't looking. I was so mad I sliced their other shoulder. They got away and I couldn't identify them, they left only their helmet,"

(y/n) recounted the events to us. I notice another bruise on her fist, but didn't choose to press on that matter. She looked so.... angry. She never seemed this way before.

"Well now, at least we have a clue," Obi-Wan said as the four of us exchanged glances.

I was going to catch this assassin, if it's the last thing I do. They will pay for hurting her.

{a/n : hey everyone! This is my first time writing a chapter with so much action, so I'm not sure if it was good or not. Thank you so much for reading and your support and votes/comments mean a lot of me! More important chapters to come! <3 }
