Episode 3 Part 2

AFTER school ends, Luna walks to the girls restroom. She makes sure it's empty before closing her eyes and snapping her fingers. She feels herself transport to a different location with a whoosh. Opening her eyes, she smiles seeing she's inside Derek's family's house.

"I am not going to get used to that anytime soon."

Luna jumps then turns around seeing Derek behind her. Grinning, she steps forward on her tip toes and pecks his cheek.

"You kind of do the same mister."

Derek chuckles grabbing her hand, kissing her knuckles, "So are you here to finally tell me what you are?"

"Not quite... I'm kinda here to ask if you know what happened to Scott the other night with the bus driver."

"I might..." He shrugs nonchalantly.

"I assumed... are you going to help him?"

"No."

"I figured you'd say that..." She raises her arms around his neck pecking his lips once, "Please help him... for me..."

Derek frowns before shaking his head at her bribery, "Fine... but he's gonna work for it."

"Of course you say that. Gosh you're so predictable." Luna rolls her eyes.

Derek raises an eyebrow moving his hands to her waist, "Am I really?"

"All the time."

"Hmm..."

Before Luna can say anything else, Derek throws her over his shoulder making her leg out a shriek. She laughs as he speeds upstairs and lightly places her on the ground back on her feet.

She smiles slapping his shoulder, "Alright fine maybe you're not so predictable all the time."

Derek smirks kissing her head before moving away from her. Luna smiles then looks away from him. She walks around slowly looking at the room he had brought her in.

Frowning, she sees burnt baseball and football player posters on the wall. On a bookshelf many burnt books remain tarnished and destroyed. Derek watches as her eyes touch on every object around the room.

"This was your room?"

Derek's nods slowly still watching her. He hoped that she didn't think he was a monster like everyone else. That's why he brought her up here. To show that he trusted her and that he was an normal guy too before his family was taken from him. After the loss of his loved ones, he became a raving anguished werewolf.

"You're not a monster Derek... I would never think that. No matter what you do."

"I keep forgetting you read minds too." Derek chuckles humorlessly staring off through the window.

Luna bites her lip thinking of the consequences of her next actions then decides against them and realizes that she needed someone, anyone to talk to about who she was... what she was.

She couldn't talk to her best friend, she couldn't talk to her busy Aunt... all she had was Derek who went through the same loss as she had.

Derek frowns as he suddenly gets a whiff of her scent right in front of him. He was in such a trance that he didn't even hear her move. Looking down at her, he sees fear in her eyes.

"What's wrong Luna?"

"Just please don't hate me for this..."

Derek frowns opening his mouth to speak but freezes as Luna holds onto his face and brings his head down to hers. Just as his forehead touches hers, he looks into her eyes and all his past memories play like a record as if he's sitting back watching them; and so is Luna.

The two both gasp as Luna pulls away from him. She now knew every single bit of his past with just one touch. She didn't even want to look at Derek in fear that he now hated her and was scared of what she was.

Derek lets out a breath of relief as he realizes what just happened. He stares at Luna as she tries not to make eye contact with him.

"Luna... Luna look at me..."

Luna bites her lip glancing up with tears in her eyes. Derek caresses her cheek pulling her into a kiss.

"You don't hate me?"

"Why would I hate you?"

"Because I made you relive those awful memories. I didn't know it would be so bad... so painful. I'm sorry you went through that."

"It's okay. I'm not mad and I don't hate you."

Luna frowns tugging a loose strand of hair behind her ear, "Are you scared of me?"

Derek chuckles, "Of course not Luna. Why would I be?"

Luna sighs throwing her head back staring at the ceiling before grabbing his neck pulling their foreheads together again.

Gasping yet again Luna pulls away.

"You didn't know what you were doing Luna. You had no idea you had powers."

"I still did it.. I'm a monster. I killed my own family and here I am enjoying life while their dead bodies are rotting under ground... I did that. It's my fault."

Derek grips the back of her neck pulling her into a hug. She grips the back of his tee shirt breathing in his fresh wood scent.

"You're not a monster."

"I'm a dark fae... I'm dangerous."

"You've learned to control yourself Luna. You did that. All by yourself. Give yourself some credit. You know who you are Luna... don't think just because you're told you are something that that's actually what you have to be."

Luna nods slowly letting out a sigh, "Thanks Derek... it feels good to finally get that off my chest."

"I'm sure," He laughs easing the mood, "Thank you for telling me."

"Yeah yeah." Luna laughs.

Derek lifts his head up and gazes out the window, his body becoming tense and still.

"Derek?"

He shushes her before moving her behind him as he walks to the window.

A Beacon Hills Deputy Sheriff Cruiser pulls up to the end of the driveway, engine turning off. In the backseat a German Shepard pants, tongue lolling out of its mouth. The Deputy gets out while speaking into his radio.

"Looks pretty deserted. Does he want me to take a look inside?"

Luna and Derek tune in on their heightened hearing as Dispatch replies, "Unit Sixteen, it's county property. Order is to make sure it's vacant."

"I don't think anybody's home."

"For the love of God, Sixteen, go inside and see if anyone's there."

Deputy looks at the radio begrudgingly, "Copy that."

The Deputy holds a nervous stare on the dilapidated house. He glances around, noticing how utterly alone he is. Gathering his nerve, he starts toward the house. Then he abruptly stops. His eyes flit left and right as if he heard something. Unlatching the clip on his gun, he starts off again.

Inside the cruise, the German Shepherd puts its nose to the cracked window. It cocks its head toward the window of the house where Derek stands. His eyes begin to fill with a blue glow, like florescent liquid pouring into his irises.

As the Deputy cautiously approaches the house, a bark makes him flinch. He throws an irritated glance back at his German Shepherd and waves a hand at it. The dog starts whining, pacing in the rear seat. It lets loose a flurry of ferocious barking.

"Hey, what is it, boy?"

The barking turns panicky, the dog desperately trying to get out of the car.

"What the hell..."

The dog's whines turn to yips, strangled cries.

"Okay, I'm coming, I'm coming!"

Now just as panicked, theDeputy jumps in,realizing the best thing to do is just get out of there.

Which he does.

The Cruiser tears off, kicking up dirt down the road.

Through the window of the house, Derek allows himself a subtle but satisfied smile. He glances over his shoulder to wink at Luna who just rolls her eyes.

Turning back he notices someone standing amid the settling dust... Scott. He doesn't move to approach, however. Instead, he just speaks...

"I know you can hear me."

Derek's ears twitch as he picks up Scott's voice.

"I need your help."

Scott steps inside; he felt two presences. Sniffing, he smells Luna and frowns. Of course she was here.

Looking around Scott can't help but frown. The house is a disaster. Walls blackened by smoke and flame, rippled, buckling hardwood floors ruined by water.

"Nice place."

Derek stares at him.

Waiting.

"Okay. I know I was part of you getting arrested-"

"Mmm part? No, I think you were the whole thing. Well... I guess Stiles can have a small piece of the blame."

Scott looks up to see Luna at the top of the stairs with her arms crossed.

"Luna..."

"Scott..."

"Luna, you were right. Derek I'm sorry that we basically announced you being here to the hunters. And I also don't know what happened with your sister..."

He looks at Derek to see if he's going to fill in the blanks.

He doesn't.

So Scott keeps going.

"But I think I did something last night. I had this dream about... someone. But someone else got hurt. And it turns out that part of the dream might have actually happened."

"You think you attacked the Driver."

Scott stares at Derek incredulously, "How do you know everything? Are you constantly keeping an eye on me? Did you see what I did last night?"

"No."

Luna rolls her eyes at the two boys as she walks down the stairs. Scott was whiny, Derek was a child, and she was way too mature for her age.

"Then can you at least tell me the truth? Am I going to hurt someone?"

"Yes."

Luna slaps Derek's arm. He doesn't move a muscle as Scott flinches at the abruptness of the answer.

"Could I kill someone?"

"Probably." Luna and Derek both reply with a shrug.

Scott's knees look like they're about to buckle. He leans back against the wall, exhausted by worry.

"I can show you how to remember. How to control the shift. Even on a full moon. But it's not going to come for free."

"What do you want?"

"You'll find out. But for now, I'll give you what you want. Go back to the bus. Go inside. See it, feel it. Let your senses... sight, smell, touch... let them remember for you."

"That's it? Just go back?" Scott frowns in confusion. It couldn't be that easy.

"You want to remember what happened?"

"I just want to know if I hurt him."

Luna frowns knowing that wasn't the whole reason. Derek sees this and smirks as his eyes find Scott once again.

"You want to know if you'll hurt her."

Scott looks away, answering with his silence.

"Do it. If you were there, you'll remember."

Scott nods glancing over at Luna, "Alright fine. You coming Luna?"

Luna looks at Derek quickly before nodding and exiting the house with Scott. Derek closes the door then freezes just as Luna does on the other side.

'Keep an eye on him.'

Luna frowns hearing Derek speak to her in her head.

'What am I his bodyguard?'

'No, but if you're going to be friends with him and the other one then you need to make sure they don't do anything stupid and dangerous.'

'Alright fine.'

"Luna!"

Luna shakes her head looking at Scott as he stares at her in concern, "What?"

"I've been calling you for five minutes now... you okay?"

Nodding, Luna follows Scott off the porch.

...

Later that night, Scott and Luna round the bottom of the driveway and crosses to Stiles waiting in his Jeep. He gets in the passenger side after Luna leaps into the back.

"So what did he teach you? How to roll over? Beg? Give him your paw?"

Luna slaps the back of Stiles' head with a grin. But Scott doesn't react, not even cracking a smile.

"Did he tell you how to remember?"

Scott nods.

"And you think we can trust him?"

Another nod.

"So let's do it."

"But what if I remember that I actually did attack him? And what if he dies?"

"You didn't." Luna replies peeking her head in the middle.

She knew that Scott wouldn't do this no matter if he was in bloodlust or not. This was the other werewolf, but they needed to know why Scott was there.

Stiles nods agreeing with Luna, "And he won't. I promise."

"What if I go to sleep some night and it's you I end up going after? How are you going to feel if I kill you, Stiles?"

"I'd prefer not to feel anything. I have a very low tolerance for pain."

Luna snorts laughing as Scott finally gives him a weary smile.

"You're not a killer. But you are a douche for not inviting me to go with you earlier."

Stiles starts the Jeep, pulling out. Minutes later, the Jeep pulls up to the chain link fence surrounding the high school parking lot. Scott gets out of the passenger side, approaching the fence, his eyes focused on the school bus parked on the far side of the lot, yellow police tape draped around it.

Luna and Stiles jump out the car and approach the fence trapping the bus and whatever memories it might hold inside alongside Scott. Scott starts climbing the fence, but pauses when Stiles moves to follow with Luna right on his heels.

"Just me. Someone needs to keep watch."

"Luna can."

Luna frowns, "Hey! I'm not being left alone!"

Stiles groans, "How come I'm always the guy keeping watch?"

"Because there's only two of us... Luna doesn't count."

Luna opens her mouth to argue but realizes she okay with that.

"Why's it starting to feel like your Batman and I'm Robin? I don't want to be Robin all the time."

"Nobody's Batman or Robin any of the time."

Stiles frowns, "Not even some of the time?"

"Just stay here." Scott says through gritted teeth.

"Oh my god." Stiles says before grabbing Luna's arm pulling her back to the jeep.

As they both sit in the car, they watch as Scott climbs the fence and leaps down to the pavement on the other side.

"So where were you earlier?"

Luna glances over at Stiles who wears a frown, "Nowhere."

"And you just randomly show up with Scott?... I know you were at Derek's."

"Then why'd you ask?"

"I wanted to see if you would tell me the truth or if you would lie to me."

Luna sighs, "I just know you guys don't like him. It's not like I can talk about my feelings towards him and have a semi freaking normal conversation about him with you two."

"I know but we care about you. We don't want to see you get hurt."

Luna smiles patting Stiles' hand, "I'm a big girl I can handle myself."

Stiles laughs watching Luna's eyes glimmer in amusement, "Did you just quote Nelly Furtado?"

"Yes, yes I did."

Gasping, Luna points at a flashlight nearby the bus Scott was in. Stiles starts to freak out and beep the horn hoping Scott would understand the warning.

Scott tears out the bus and hits the ground running. Behind him, a security guard comes charging out of the school with a flashlight. Scott races for the fence as the flashlight beam catches him. The chain link comes up fast. But instead of climbing, he launches himself off the pavement and flips head over heels right over the fence.

From the car a wide-eyed Stiles and slightly impressed Luna, watch Scott land on the pavement like an Olympic gymnast.

"Go! Go!"

Stiles quickly motions to Luna to get in the back. She nods and moves but gets stuck. Stiles quickly pushes her butt making her fall into the back. Huffing, she slaps his head as Scott jumps in slamming the door shut.

"Never grab my ass like that again Stilinski."

Scott looks back and forth between the two frowning, "Wait what?"

Stiles ignores him and floors it.

"Nothing. Did it work? You remember?"

Scott nods breathless, "I was there last night. And the blood- a lot of it was mine."

"So you did attack him?"

"No. I saw glowing eyes in the bus. But they weren't mine. It was Derek."

Luna groans, "Seriously this again?"

Stiles frowns, "What about the driver?"

Scott shrugs, "I think I was actually trying to protect him from Derek."

"Wait- what? Why would Derek help you remember that he attacked the Driver?"

"That's what I don't get-"

Luna waves her arms between the two trying to get their attention, "Hello... it's not Derek."

Stiles looks back at the road thinking, "Hold on. It's got to be a pack thing."

"What do you mean?"

"Fine ignore me jackasses."

"Like an initiation. You do the kill together."

Luna chuckles, "Because ripping someone's throat out is a real bonding experience."

Stiles glances at Luna shrugging, "But he didn't do it." He looks back at Scott who stares forward with a wide grin, "You didn't do it. Which means you're not a killer. And it also means-"

"I can go out with Allison." Scott replies relieved.

Luna slaps her hand over forehead as Stiles rolls his eyes at Scott, "I was going to say it means you won't kill me and Luna."

"Oh yeah. That too."

...

After Stiles drops Scott off at home, he heads to his neighborhood. Parking in front of his house he glances over at Luna who is texting on her phone.

"What do you think happened?"

Luna frowns, "Why do you think I know something?"

"I don't. I just want to know what you think."

"So my opinion matters now?"

Stiles shrugs, "It does to me... you haven't been wrong yet."

Luna glances over at him with a smile then nods, "I don't know... this werewolf, the raged one, I think he is trying to get Scott's attention. I don't know why. And no Derek hasn't told me a thing."

Stiles nods, "I believe you."

"Thanks."

"I just hope you're careful..."

Luna grins poking his shoulder making him frown at her playfully, "You sir are warming up to me. Pretty soon we're gonna be besties, having sleepovers, and telling secrets."

"Can't wait." Stiles messes up Luna's hair making her slap his hand away.

The sound of a loud engine roars throughout the quiet neighborhood. Stiles turns to look out his window. He frowns seeing Derek's car pull up into Luna's driveway.

"Does your Aunt know?"

Luna smirks, "No and I would love to keep it that way. At least for now. I'll tell her eventually. Thanks for caring Stilinski."

Stiles nods then freezes as he feels her soft warm lips peck his cheek. Luna smiles as his face reddens. He watches her get out and walk over to Derek's car then get inside. Sighing, he watches Derek back out then disappear down the road.

...

"Where are we going?"

"To see that bus driver."

Luna just nods then stares out the window. Derek frowns glancing over at her.

"You're not going to ask me why?"

"Nope."

"Seriously?"

"No I trust you."

Derek raises an eyebrow then smiles to himself looking back at the road. Luna smiles as she feels happiness seeping from his body.

Minutes later, Derek pulls up to a gas station. He parks then gets out of his Dodge under the dimly lit overhang.

Leaning into the car he says, "Gotta get gas" before closing the door and walking to the other side of the car.

Luna hums to herself as he puts the pump in the tank of his car. Suddenly, a dark red SUV eases up as if to stop at the opposite tank. But then instead stops right in front of Derek's car. Another SUV pulls in right behind him. Two dark vehicles now blocking him in. Derek looks to the doors of the SUV's. Two hunters step out of one vehicle, as Argent and Emerson step out of the other.

Luna gasps whispering a spell making herself invisible. The numbers on the gas pump tick up and up. Noting the two men behind him and Argent ahead with almost casual interest, Derek doesn't say a word.

Just waits.

'Derek...'

'Just stay still and stay quiet.'

Derek sees that his car is empty, but he still felt Luna's presence so he knew she used her powers. He sighs in relief not noticing the tall black male gazing into the car. However, he does notice one of the Hunters behind him, holding a shotgun tightly to his leg.

Clunk.

The gas pump stops.

Moving slowly yet deliberately, Derek puts the pump back and twists the cap back on his tank.

"Nice ride." Emerson says as his finger slides along the front of the car.

Argent nods as he approaches, looking over the Dodge, "Black cars, though. Very hard to keep clean. I would definitely suggest a little more maintenance."

He grabs a squeegee from the hanging bucket. Then covers the windshield with water. Actually cleaning it for him.

"If you have something this nice, you want to take care of it, right?"

Argent methodically squeegees the water off of the windshield while Derek simply watches the bizarre display.

"Personally, I'm very protective of the things I love. But that's something I learned from my family. And you don't have much of that these days, do you?"

Argent pulls the squeegee back one last time. Luna clenches her fists together tightly. She was pissed. How dare he say something like that to Derek. He lost his family in a fire and was still suffering from that horrid day, but Argent didn't care. When he looked at Derek all he saw was a monster.

"There we go. You can actually look through the windshield now. See how that makes everything so much clearer?"

Argent sets the squeegee back, noticing Derek's hands have curled into fists. Exactly what he wanted.

'Breathe Derek... please calm down... you know this is what he wants...'

Derek listens to Luna and slowly relaxes his hands, unwilling to be provoked.

"You forgot to check the oil."

Argent looks back. And smiles, liking Derek's confidence.

Argent turns to one of the Hunters, "Check the man's oil."

The 1st Hunter takes the butt of his shotgun and slams it through the driver's side window, glass exploding all over the seat making Luna over her mouth as she is about to let out a scream.

Derek doesn't even flinch he just glares.

"Looks good to me." Emerson smiles.

Argent nods turning to Derek, "Drive safely."

They get back into their SUV's, quickly pulling away while Derek looks on. As soon as the SUV's disappear down the road Derek quickly opens the passenger door checking on Luna. Just as he opens the door, Luna reappears but she falls into his arms unconscious. Derek frowns seeing a cut on her forehead and cheek.

"Luna..."

He receives no response. Listening to her steady heartbeat he realizes she must've tired herself out from using her powers.

Looking down the dark road he decides to continue his plan and see the bus driver. Hopefully Luna would wake up soon.

...

In the hospital room, a light pulses in the otherwise dark room. Specifically the one measuring a heartbeat on a monitor screen. Gary Meyers lays in his hospital bed. His breathing is shallow and even in this dim light, he doesn't look good. Derek steps out from the shadows over the injured man. He makes no threatening motions. Rather, he just stares down at the man until Meyer's eyelids flutter. They open, sensing the presence in the room. He looks around until he sees Derek over him. He blinks to focus.

"What do you remember? Look at me. Do you remember anything?"

The injured man sees Derek's face... but unlike seeing Scott, the man doesn't freak out. Still, there's a spark of recognition in his eyes. He whispers a single word: Hale...

Derek frowns, "What?"

"I know you..."

"How do you know my name?" Derek looks at him confused.

"I'm sorry..."

"How do you know me?"

"I'm sorry."

Gary's head falls to the side slowly as his breathing slows as well. A distinct beep sounds the quiet room making Derek stare in shock.

...

The Hale house looms ominously, tattooed with ragged shadows of the overgrown trees around it. The front door slams open. Scott stands in the frame, just a silhouette.

"Derek. I know you're here. And I know what you did."

No reply comes from the dark shell of a house. Scott enters, letting the door shut behind him. Head cocked, he listens.

Hearing a soft heartbeat he realizes immediately who it is. Walking into the living room he sees Luna laying unconscious on the couch with cuts on her face; which makes him even angrier.

Derek's calm voice comes out of the darkness, "I didn't do anything."

"You killed him... and hurt Luna."

"She passed out... and he died."

"Like your sister died?"

"My sister was missing. I came here to find her."

Scott frowns, "You found her-"

Derek growls growing angry, "I found her in pieces and being used as bait to catch me."

"I think you killed them both. And I'm going to tell everyone. Starting with the Sheriff-"

Derek hurtles out the darkness. He moves like a blur, sending Scott smashing into the wall. Scott hits the wall hard, cracking the plaster and falling to the floor. He gets to his hands and knees, pulse rising, his chest heaving.

And when he looks up, his eyes are yellow, his teeth grown to fangs. The combination of rage and fear have caused the shift. Scott is a werewolf. He launches himself at the still-human Derek. They collide with a bone-rattling thud.

Scott's attack is relentless and brutal. The second Derek manages to tear him off, Scott is back on him, claws ripping, teeth gnashing.

They stumble and spin until both smash through a burnt door, splinters exploding into the air as they tumble down the stairs into the rotted and black basement. Scott splashes down into a water-logged floor. He pulls himself up, twisting around on his back and seeing Derek through a mottled glass partition.

Derek's eyes begin to glow an ice cold blue. His body twists violently, head snapping back as he transforms, seeming to grow bigger, the mottled glass giving a distorted glimpse of his metamorphosis.

Frightened, Scott backs away as Derek steps out from behind the glass. Far more monstrous, more terrifying and clearly more powerful than Scott.

Scrambling to his feet, Scott tries to run as Derek grabs him by the nape of his neck, drags him up and literally slams him right back down into the water.

Scott splashes up, trying to fight back. But Derek swings a clawed hand out slashing through Scott's shirt and sending blood flying.

Scott falls back. And when he comes up out of the water again, he's returned to normal. Gasping, choking on water, he twists around, arms shielding his face as Derek roars, seeming to shake the entire house with his furious cry.

"Derek!"

Luna stands by the smashed door. She finally woke up and heard the two fighting. They would literally kill each other if they didn't stop.

Scott shuts his eyes, literally waiting to die. But when he opens them again Derek has stepped back. Breathing hard, he's reigned in the animal rage, now back to normal as well.

"I didn't kill him. Neither of us did. It's not your fault and it's not mine."

Scott slowly stands, beaten and dripping wet. But his eyes remain defiant.

"This... this is all your fault. You ruined my life."

"No, I didn't."

Scott scoffs, "You're the one who bit me."

"No, I'm not."

Scott freezes.

Luna throws up her hands in the air as she rolls her eyes, "Finally! You couldn't have just told him that days ago?"

Derek continues ignoring Luna, "I'm not the one who bit you."

Scott gazes at him.

Derek doesn't blink.

No sign whatsoever that he's lying. Scott's hand comes up to his chest where Derek slashed him... And the memory comes to him- the black shape looking at Scott with glowing red eyes.

Scott slowly pulls his hand away from his chest in disbelief...

"There's another."

Derek nods, "It's called an Alpha. The most dangerous of our kind. You and I, we're Betas. This thing... it's more powerful, more animal than either of us. My sister came here looking for him, trying to stop him. Now I'm trying to find him. And I don't think I can do it without you."

"Why me?"

"Because he turned you. You're part of his pack. It's you, Scott." Luna says finally realizing why the werewolf was doing all this.

Stiles was actually on the right track.

Derek nods firmly staring down at Scott, "You're the one he wants."
