Episode 10 Part 3

STILES and Melissa look over the damage to the cars as witnesses gather.

"I don't know what happened. You guys came out of nowhere."

Melissa glares, "Came out of nowhere? We were parked on the side of the road."

"How crazy is that? We should call the police, do an accident report."

Peter chuckles inwardly, "I don't think that's necessary."

Stiles frowns rubbing his neck, "You sure? I'm feeling a little whiplash."

Melissa's head snaps over to him as she stares at him in disbelief, "Whiplash? You hit us."

"Something's definitely wrong with my neck."

"Something will be when I'm strangling it with my bare hands."

Neither of them notice Peter stepping away, his gaze wandering to the shadows.

"I know you're there. And I'm impressed. Too bad most teenagers aren't as smart. Kind of like that friend of yours on the lacrosse team, Jackson. The one who thinks he knows all about us."

Down the street, Scott's tired gasps stop, breath now held tight in the grip of fear.

"You know how they say knowledge is power? Not in his case."

Realization dawning on him, Scott slowly steps back. Then turns on his heels to run for it. Hurtling off the road, he races not for his own life. But for Jackson's.

...

Luna lays on her bed on her stomach as she flips through a magazine. She groans and rolls over half laying off the bed.

"Ugh I'm so bored..." She mumbles to herself before sitting up.

Sighing, she sits against the headboard of her bed staring straight ahead. Stiles had gone to stop Peter from hurting Melissa and Scott was there as well. Derek was who knows where. Maybe she would call Lydia and see what the strawberry blonde was up to.

As soon as Luna reaches for her phone on the nightstand beside her, she shivers as a chill runs down her spine. Frowning, she glances over at her window to see it closed.

"Well that's not weird at all..."

Shaking her head, she lets out a harsh breath then walks to her bathroom. Leaning against the counter she grips it tightly trying to figure out what was happening to her.

She suddenly felt cold and anxious. It didn't feel like anyone else was feeling this, no it was all her. Glancing up in the mirror she sees black veins slowly appearing around her eyes.

"Oh no..."

Just as those words leave her mouth, Luna's green eyes turn murky white and it's almost as if she leaves her body as she's brought into a scene in her head.

Luna looks around noticing she was in Derek's family's house. She suddenly sees Derek turn into a werewolf right in front of Jackson and lean forward to bite him.

Blinking and gasping for air, Luna suddenly comes back to the present time. Staring straight she sees her eyes were back to their normal color as well as her face no longer showing visible veins.

Thinking about what she just saw she knew she needed to get to the Hale house and quick.

...

Jackson walks just ahead of Derek. His excited anticipation, however, seems to lessen with every step forward.

"This is it? This place?"

Derek nods, "Go ahead."

Jackson frowns staring at the burned destroyed house, "It's safe to go in? I don't want rafters falling on my head."

Jackson takes a hard swallow, then inches his way up the steps. He glances back yet again. But Derek simply nods him onward. Reaching for the doorknob, Jackson pauses to notice just how badly his hand trembles.

"What... What's in here?"

"Everything you want. Just go in."

Hand on the knob, Jackson turns it and slowly pushes the door open. He doesn't step in yet, trying to peer into the darkness. But he can't seem to make anything out inside.

A creak of a floorboard makes him flinch. Derek steps up behind him, his voice soft and friendly... too friendly.

"It's going to be all right. Trust me."

Finally, Jackson steps over the threshold. He walks deeper into the charred house. Apprehension turns to confusion as he gazes about.

"This house..."

He's so entranced by the staircase and rooms before him, he doesn't see Derek's fingers spread, claws out.

"This is the same house."

Derek abruptly stops, "What did you say?"

"I dreamt about this place."

Jackson steps into what was once the living room, now blackened and empty. His hand drifts to the scratches on the back of his neck as he speaks.

"I remember the couch. That lamp. I remember... everything."

"You've been here?"

"No. Never. I dreamt it."

Hands lightly touching the furniture, he stops. Then slowly turns back around, eyes meeting Derek's.

"There's no one else here."

Derek stares blankly, "No."

"And no one else coming."

"No."

Lower lip beginning to tremble, Jackson bites it back. But when he looks up he can't hide the fear.

"Please, don't. I'll shut up. I won't say anything ever again."

Derek starts forward. But he seems to be having trouble holding Jackson's gaze as if his resolve is weakening.

"I'll leave Scott alone. Please don't do this. Oh my God, please."

Jackson begins backing toward the entrance. He doesn't see the stairs behind him and stumbles into them.

"Come on, please don't. I don't deserve this. I don't deserve it."

Derek scoffs, "I think you do. Because wouldn't there be someone trying to save you? Look around, Jackson. There's no one. No one cares about the fact that you drive an expensive car... No one cares about your perfect hair... And no one cares... about you being Captain of the lacrosse team."

"Excuse me."

Derek's head snaps up to see Scott perched at the top of the stairs.

Scott clenches his fists as he feels his anger rising, "Co-Captain."

He launches himself down the stairs, transforming in midflight, snarling through sharpening fangs and dragging Derek to the floor right in front of a stunned Jackson.

Rolling to his feet, Scott takes a protective stance in front of Jackson who looks on him in his transformed state with a mixture of fear and awe.

Derek looks up, now also transformed and baring his fangs, "Move."

"No."

Derek chuckles shaking his head as he stands up firmly, "Fine. I'll kill you too."

"Sorry honey but if you wanna kill him you're gonna have to deal with me..."

Derek curses as he hears footsteps come from behind him. He glances over his shoulder and sees Luna behind him arms crossed over her chest.

"Luna what are you doing here?"

"That doesn't matter. What the hell are you doing Derek?"

"Why do you care about what happens to him? You hate him."

Luna scoffs glancing at Jackson, "I mean well yeah I can't stand him and I would love to run him over with his own Porsche... but I don't want him dead... especially not by you. You're not a killer Derek... you're not Peter..."

Derek clenches his fists staring Jackson down as he looks at the werewolf and Luna in shock.

"It was an accident... He didn't mean to, " Derek mutters.

"You know I'm starting to think a lot of things have been an accident..."

Derek glances back at Luna with a frown before groaning and turning back to Scott who still stands guarding Jackson.

"Last time I say it Scott... move before I move you."

Jackson cowers back in the shadows, moving to the side of the stairs as the two werewolves start to step towards each other. Luna goes to stop them but freezes feeling a shiver once again run down her spine.

Scott and Derek both stop, both seeming to sense something just like Luna.

Then they hear it.

A strange whistling sound. Something soaring through the air.

"Cover your eyes--"

Is the only thing Derek can call out as a flash blasts inside the house through the window. It explodes with a blinding light that makes Scott look around in blinding fear.

Luna screams as the flash bolt is followed by a volley of gunshots. Jackson yells out as Scott is hit. Derek quickly spins around grabbing Luna, shielding her body from the gunfire.

Scott tumbles to the floor hollering in pain. As he rolls over onto his back he looks at his stomach in terror. Smoke wafts up from the wound. He's been hit with a wolfsbane bullet. He blinks up at Derek who has taken cover behind a column by the door holding Luna's head down into his chest.

"Go."

Scott lets out a yelp of pain as he stumbles out the house. Jackson quickly follows alongside the stairs and runs out the back. The shots seem to stop for a moment as the hunters reload, giving Luna and Derek a moment to catch their breath.

"If you think I'm leaving you here with them, you're an idiot."

Derek turns back human as he holds both sides of Luna's face, "And if you think you're staying here with me, then you're an idiot."

"Dere-"

Derek shuts her up by pulling her into a kiss then slowly he starts to help Luna stand as he still shields her.

"I promised to keep you safe... let me keep my promise Luna... please."

Luna tears up as Derek lets her go and turns towards the front door.

"Derek I-I'm so-sorry I didn't mean-"

"I understand, now go! Go now... hurry!"

Derek watches as Luna runs out the back of the house then, without another word, he spins through a new round of gunfire as he goes right out the door to face the hunters himself.

Hearing Derek's roar, Luna sniffles as hurrying out the house following the scent of Jackson. Wiping her eyes she looks down and sees his foot prints in the dirt. After a few minutes of running, she finally catches up with a furious fearful Jackson.

"Hey-"

"What the hell was that Tate? People were shooting at us and you all abandon me? Where were you?"

Luna glares, "I'm sorry I was trying to make sure that Derek didn't do anything stupid... like a few minutes ago when Scott and I helped save your sorry ass. A thank you would be much appreciated you know. Where the hell is Scott?"

"Hell if I know. He just left me behind. If he doesn't get me the bite soon I swear I'll go right to the Arg-"

Jackson doesn't get a chance to say another word as Luna punches his daylights out. She chuckles evilly he hits the ground unconscious.

"Gosh Jackson do you ever shut up?... oh wait what was that... silence?"

Luna smiles then bites her lip in worry as she looks around for Scott. She couldn't see or smell him anywhere near, that meant he had to get out the woods. But she was sure he got shot... she would have to find him, and fast.

Kneeling beside Jackson, Luna grabs his hand and then closes her eyes and snaps. With a crack she feels the two of them transport from the woods to a carpeted area. Opening her eyes, Luna sees that she's in Jackson's room.

"Oh shoot... what now?" She mumbles to herself as she looks at Jackson in the ground.

Shrugging she figures it's good enough and decides to leave him on the floor. As she steps out his room she makes herself invisible just in case one of his parents were home and awake walking the halls.

After jogging down the stairs, she makes herself visible once more and steps out the front door. Taking a step forward she falters for a moment. Holding her head, she starts to feel faint and curses to herself.

She forgot that when she overexerts her powers she passes out. She would have to figure out how to get better at this.

Leaning against the front door, she closes her eyes and takes a few breaths before opening her eyes and gasping. Her green orbs connect to blue ones right across the street. She stares at the tall dirty blonde teen boy before smiling and waving. He waves back slowly then watches as Luna hurries down the street.

...

Luna frowns as she looks up at the animal hospital sign. Why would Scott come here? She had tracked his scent to this exact location.

Biting her cheek in worry, she reaches for the door handle and pulls open the door. She looks around at the empty room and decides to follow Scott's scent again. Walking slowly she hears medical instruments tapping and the humming of a man. Clenching her fists, Luna steps in the other room and sees Scott's boss stitching him up.

"What the-"

Her eyelids flicker open and closed for a second before she feels herself succumb into darkness.

"Hello... are you okay... Luna..."

Luna opens her eyes to see Scott's boss kneeling in front of her as she sits in a chair.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Deaton."

"What are you?"

Deaton smiles lightly, "That's not important yet... get some rest, faes are very easily tired when overusing teleportation especially with others."

Luna tilts her head in question as fear begins to rise up in her bones, "Excuse me?"

"Sleep."

Luna frowns watching him get back to Scott. She was very tired but now she wanted to know how they guy knew what she was and who she was when she hadn't seen or talked to him a day in her life. Things were becoming too much in Beacon Hills and Luna knew that this was only the beginning of it.
