Sammie Todd
Sammie's POV
"If you ever... and I mean ever, touch me again I swear that I will snap your wrist and shove it up your-"
"Sammie!!!"
I let go of the delinquent teen boy's wrist, making him and his pose sprint out the front door. Turning around I see my manager, Hank, storming towards me. He grabs my shoulder and pulls me behind the counter away from staring eyes.
"What in God's name are you doing? You're making a scene."
"I'm not making a scene..." I look at the filled booth seats in the restaurant to see that everyone had stopped eating to look at me and the teen boy.
"Oh look... I made a scene... Whoops."
I grimace as Hank's face turns red and his shoulders begin to shake.
"You young lady better be so grateful that you bring in more service. That and I already fired two other people."
"Oh yes, very grateful indeed sir."
I smile as Hank shakes his head and runs his hands across his face groaning.
"Just go Todd. Go now before I change my mind."
I turn around and walk back around the counter to a table that seats my friends. Sitting down beside Lana, I huff in exhaustion.
"What happened now Sammie?" Lana teases as she looks at the menu.
"Yes it seems as if every week there is some one who is threatened by you." Connie laughs while sipping on her chocolate milkshake.
"Some boy... I went to take the tables' order and then I turn to leave and the dud slaps my butt. He'll think about that next time now won't he?" I smirk as they burst out laughing.
"You are one of the most unique dames I have ever met."
I glance to Connie's side and smile at her new boy toy. His hair was dark brown almost looking jet black, his face chiseled, and his eyes as blue as ocean water.
"Is that a compliment Bucky?"
He smirks and nods his head, "Oh yeah. It means that you're tough... don't take any crap from anyone. It's different."
"Oh well thanks." I glance up to see Hank waving at me frantically as more people go to the register to pay.
"Ugh I've got to go. See you guys later."
"Bye." They say in unison as they watch me sulk away to the register.
Groaning in pain, I fall back and lay on the couch. Looking up at the ceiling I wish my life would change. I wish for more excitement... something new... something different.
"Rough rest of the day?"
Holding my head up for one second, I see Bucky standing in the kitchen doorway. Laying back down I let out a huge sigh and hold a thumbs up in the air.
"You got it buddy. Hank is a pain in my arse."
"Wow you have quite the sailor's mouth."
"Yeah my dad did too. Guess it passed on." I giggle to myself, "Hey!"
Bucky shoves my legs off the couch and sits down in the now empty space, "Sorry."
Taking my legs into his lap he turns on the TV without another word.
"You're very weird. Has anybody told you that?"
"All the time." Bucky chuckles and pats my knee.
"Bucky serious question. Not meaning to hurt your feelings or anything but... why are you here? You're here more than me and I live here."
Laughing hard he almost spits out his drink, "Well Miss Grouch I only have two more weeks until I'm sent away with the army. Connie thought it would be nice to see each other a bit more before I left for good."
"Mhmm... have you slept with her yet?"
I laugh as he chokes on his drink for the second time. I know they have been courting for two months now I'm just teasing him.
"Um no actually. Never thought I would've been uncomfortable with that question ever in life."
"Me and you both stud. Look I'm just teasing you. But I'm really pooped so I'm gonna go lay down. See you tomorrow."
I get up and walk to my room then lay down on my bed. After laying there for a while staring at the ceiling, I sit up and pull a box out from under my bed. Opening the shoe box, I pull out photos of my mom and dad. Tears fall down my face as I cry silently.
"I don't know what to do. I don't know where to go... what my purpose is. I hate my job. Please just help me figure it all out."
I whisper looking though the window at the starry sky hoping someone maybe an angel heard me.
