Galaga
3rd Person's POV
"In case it's unclear. You try to escape. You so much as scratch that glass."
Fury presses a button which opens up a hatch underneath Loki's cell. Loki peers as much as he can from the glass.
"Thirty thousand feet, straight down in a steel trap. You get how that works?!"
Fury closes the hatch and points at Loki, "Ant."
Then points at the button which would drop Loki into the steel trap, "Boot."
Loki smirks not in the slightest bit scared, "It's an impressive cage. Not built, I think, for me."
"Built for something a lot stronger than you."
"Oh, I've heard."
Loki looks into the camera. The others watchLoki's interrogation on the monitor. Banner looks at the monitor, intently.
"The mindless beast, makes play he's still a man. How desperate are you, that you call upon such lost creatures to defend you?"
Fury scoffs, "How desperate am I? You threaten my world with war. You steal a force you can't hope to control. You talk about peace and you kill 'cause it's fun. You have made me very desperate. You might not be glad that you did."
"Ooh. It burns you to come so close. To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power. And for what? A warm light for all mankind to share, and then to be reminded what real power is."
Nick smiles in a teasing manner, "Well, you let me know if Real Power wants a magazine or something."
Fury walks off leaving Loki in his glass cell. Loki looks back at the camera, smirking. Steve watches until the monitor goes black. Thor, who didn't even look, just listened, stands there, torn apart. They all just stand there in stunned silence.
Banner smiles awkwardly, "He really grows on you, doesn't he?"
Steve turns to Thor, "Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?"
"He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract."
Steve crosses his arms and frowns seriously, "An army? From outer space?"
Banner nods while holding his chin, "So he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for."
"Selvig?" Thor asks in surprise.
Banner nods again, "He's an astrophysicist."
"He's a friend." Thor frowns slightly.
Natasha finally speaks from the chair she is sitting in across the table, "Loki has him under some kind of spell, along with one of ours."
Steve paces, "I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here."
"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats, you could smell crazy on him."
Thor frowns at Banner, "Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he is my brother."
Natasha scoffs, "He killed eighty people in two days."
Thor shrugs, "He's adopted."
"Iridium, what did they need the Iridium for?" Banner's eyebrows furrow.
"It's a stabilizing agent."
Everyone looks over at Tony as he walks in with Coulson and Dylann, both at his side. Steve tries not to but can't help but stare at Dylann Stark. The resemblance between Dylann and Sammie was uncanny, but Steve had no idea what to believe anymore.
"I'll fly you there. Keep the love alive. Means the portal won't collapse on itself, like it did at SHIELD." Coulson says as he walks over to Agent Maria Hill.
Tony strolls over to Thor, "No hard feelings, Point Break. You've got a mean swing. Also, it means the portal can open as wide, and stay open as long, as Loki wants."
Tony walks over to the center monitor and controls, then looks at all the crew sitting at the computers, "Uh, raise the mid-mast, ship the top sails. That man is playing GALAGA! Thought we wouldn't notice. But we did-" He shouts out randomly.
"Yeah but look at his high score! Impressive my dude." Dylann says holding a thumbs up.
Steve smiles at her, sensing a little bit of Sammie's goofy and sassy personality. But again he had no idea what was real anymore.
Tony looks over at Dylann and nods, "Very true little sister."
He glances back at the monitor then covers one eye and looks around, "How does Fury do this?"
Agent Hill scoffs and holds up an eyebrow, "He turns."
Tony looks around the monitors and places a button size hacking implant under Fury's desk, without anyone noticing."
"Well, that sounds exhausting. The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. Only major component he still needs is a power source. A high energy density, something to kick start the cube."
Agent Hill frowns, "When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?"
Tony walks around to the table everyone is standing by, "Last night. The packet, Selvig's notes, the Extraction Theory papers. Am I the only one who did the reading?"
Steve looks serious as he stands by Tony, "Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?"
Banner spins a pencil in his hand while thinking, "He's got to heat the cube to a hundred and twenty million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier."
Tony shakes his head, "Unless, Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect."
Dylann steps beside Tony with her arms crossed, "Well if he could do that, he could achieve Heavy Ion Fusion at any reactor on the planet."
Dylann's eyes widen as she looks down at her hands, 'How did I know that?'
Tony smiles looking back and forth between Banner and Dylann, "Finally, someone who speaks English."
Steve frowns, "Is that what just happened?"
Tony and Banner shake hands. A glimmer in their eyes shines as they show mutual respect for each other.
"It's good to meet you, Dr. Banner. You're work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster.
"Thanks."
Nick walks in swiftly interrupting, "Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube. I was hoping you might join him."
Steve suggests, "Let's start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon."
Nick frowns slightly in worry as he watches Dylann's eyes flicker from grey to black for a second. Dylann grips onto the chair in front of her, for some reason she felt upset... it was so out of nowhere. She starts to take on and off her ring to calm herself down.
"I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys."
Thor frowns, "Monkeys? I do not understand."
Steve smiles, "I do! I understood that reference."
Dylann glances over at Steve from the corner of her eye. She smiles at how cute he looks. She wanted to get to know him but she can already tell how serious he is... all work, no play.
Tony rolls his eyes, while Cap looks proud of himself.
"Shall we play, doctor?"
Banner nods, "Let's play some."
As Banner and Tony walk out, Tony yells, "Let's go Dylann."
Steve watches as Dylann shakes her head as if waking herself out a daydream and then she runs over to Banner and Tony in the hallway. Dylann glances once more behind her, and sees that Steve is also looking at her as she is at him. Her face tinges pink as she quickly looks away and catches up with her brother and Banner.
As everyone gets up and moves away from the table, Steve stays for a moment. He just sits and thinks.
Seeing something twinkle out the corner of his eye, he looks over and sees something on the table. Picking up the object Steve's breath stops. In his hand, is the gold ring that he gave Sammie Dylann Todd almost 70 years ago. He looks up at the empty hallway... Dylann Stark?
Could it be?
