Bruce Banner

3rd Person's POV

Banner quickly follows the little girl inside her house. As he walks in, the little girl escapes through the window. Banner is left standing there like a dumbass.

"Should have got paid up front, Banner."

Natasha then appears from behind the curtains. Banner turns around quietly.

"You know, for a man who's supposed to be avoiding stress, you picked a hell of a place to settle."

Banner frowns at the red head, "Avoiding stress isn't the secret."

"Then, what is it? Yoga?"

He laughs humorlessly, "You brought me to the edge of the city, smart. I uh... assume the whole place is surrounded?"

Natasha smiles as she sits at the table, "Just you and me."

Banner nods his head in the direction that the little girl left from, "And your actress buddy, is she a spy too? Do they start that young?"

"I did."

He nods, "Who are you?"

"Natasha Romanoff."

Banner smiles, "Are you here to kill me, Miss Romanoff? Because that's not gonna work out for everyone."

Natasha shakes her head, "No. No. Of course not. I'm here on behalf of SHIELD."

Drowning Banner replies, "SHIELD. How did they find me?"

"We never lost you, doctor. We've kept our distance, even helped keep some other interested parties off your scent."

"Why?"

"Nick Fury seems to trust you. But now I need you to come in."

Banner frowns once more, "What if I said no?"

"I'll persuade you."

"And what if the... other guy says no?"

Natasha crosses her arms, "You've been more than a year without an incident. I don't think you wanna break that streak."

"I don't always get what I want."

"Doctor, we're facing a potential global catastrophe."

He shrugs, "Well, those I actively try to avoid."

"This is the Tesseract. It has the potential energy to wipe out the planet." She shows him a photo of the Tesseract on her cell phone. Banner takes a closer look.

"What does Fury want me to do? Swallow it?"

"Well, he wants you to find it. It's been taken. It emits a gamma signature that's too weak for us to trace. There's no one that knows gamma radiation like you do. If there was, that's where I'd be."

"So Fury isn't after the monster?"

Natasha shakes her head, "Not that he's told me."

Banner scoffs, "And he tells you everything?"

"Talk to Fury, he needs you on this."

He shakes his head angrily, "He needs me in a cage?"

"No one's gonna put you in a..."

"STOP LYING TO ME!"

The thunderous tone in is voice makes Natasha quickly stand up, grab her gun, and point it at him, but something is now off in the atmosphere. Banner stands straight up, smiling.

"I'm sorry, that was mean. I just wanted to see what you'd do. Why don't we do this the easy way, where you don't use that, and the other guy doesn't make a mess? Okay? Natasha..."

Natasha, still wary, doesn't lower her gun. She lowers her gun and speaks into her earpiece.

"Stand down. We're good here."

Amazingly, dozens of SHIELD agents are surrounding the shack outside. Banner looks at Natasha, charming a smile at her.

"Just you and me?"

Natasha fidgets now that she exposed her guard down.

As the two leave the shack and head to the army tank they hear a voice behind them.

"You know when you said we have a mission... I kinda thought I would be doing something."

Banner turns around to see a gorgeous girl with dirty blonde hair and grey eyes. His eyebrows furrow as he stares at her.

"Hey, I was gonna let you drive the tank." Natasha teases as she holds the keys in her hand.

"Oh well then I'll take those." The girl smiles then snatches the keys.

As soon turns to Banner she smiles widely, "Hi Mr. Banner I'm-"

"Do I know you from somewhere?" Banner interrupts as he tries to recall how he knows the girl.

"I don't think so." She smiles, "I'm Dylann Stark nice to meet you."

Banner's head cocks to the side in confusion, "I didn't know the Stark's had a daughter."

"I'm adopted."

"Huh." Banner holds his chin staring away.

Dylann frowns slightly feeling a little uncomfortable, "Hey Nat can we go now?"

Natasha nods and then pulls Banner along, "Don't stare it makes her uncomfortable."

"Sorry I just feel like I know her."

"Believe me you don't."
............................................................................................................................................................................

As Natasha stands outside talking to Nick Fury, Banner and Dylann stay seated in the army tank. Banner whistles awkwardly as Dylann polishes her gun.

"So..."

Dylann looks up at Doctor Banner with a small smile, "Yes Mr. Banner?"

"Oh you can call me Bruce." Banner smiles.

"Alright." Dylann says as she puts her gun back in her leg holster.

"So Dylann you said," She nods making Banner continue, "how long have you been with the Starks?"

"Well I have lived with Tony for 3 years now. I don't know exactly when I was adopted so I couldn't answer that for you."

Banner frowns but tries to keep that in his memory, "Well why don't you know."

Dylann frowns looking out the window, "I was in some sort of accident. They won't tell me what happened but apparently I have amnesia. I can't remember any of my life before 3 years ago."

Banner looks at the sad girl wondering what she had been through, "Wow I'm sorry Dylann I shouldn't have pried-"

"No no you're okay I promise. It's just I wish I could remember. There's so many times where these short little memories come back to me but I don't know if it is real or a fantasy."

Banner nods yet stays quiet. He looks down at her hand, seeing a beautiful gold ring his eyebrows furrow, "That's a beautiful ring."

Dylann looks down at her hand and stares at the ring on her finger smiling, "Yeah it is. I love it."

Banner smiles, "Is it a family heirloom of some sort or something like that?"

"No... Tony said he wasn't supposed to tell me but he was tired of me moping around. Apparently, this ring is from an ex-lover of mine 3 years ago. He died in the accident and I lived just with amnesia. I can't remember what he looks like, sounds like, anything. But I don't know... I don't want to sound crazy but I just feel deep in my heart that whoever it was I loved him every much. Still do but it's not like he's walking down the streets of New York right?"
