Christine's POV:
No... No... No... This can't be happening... Please, no...
"Y/N, NO!!" I shouted, my voice cracking as fear flooded through me. I felt like I was going to pass out. Kristen was right next to me, her face pale and streaked with tears, looking completely lost. We stumbled out of the park, our hearts racing, adrenaline coursing through us. The chaos behind us faded, but the sounds of gunfire still echoed in my head. The shooter had been caught, but Y/N...
"Y/N, please... You have to be alive, please..." Kristen cried, her voice shaking as she grabbed my arm. I could barely process her words; my mind was stuck on the moment when I saw Y/N fall. It felt like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from.
"Y/N... No..." I whispered, each word feeling heavier than the last. Y/N was more than just a friend; she was my rock, the one who got me. We shared everythingβour favorite movies, our dreams, our silly inside jokes. She was always there to cheer me on when I doubted myself, and it felt like my heart was shattering into a million pieces without her.
I shook her gently, desperately hoping she would wake up. "Y/N! Please, come back!" My voice was barely above a whisper as I gripped her shoulders, trying to pull her back to me.
No words.
No heartbeat.
No breaths.
Gone.
It was like the ground had disappeared beneath my feet. The bright colors of the park, the laughter of kids playing, the rustling leavesβall faded to gray. I took a step back, my body feeling numb. All I wanted to do was scream, to fight against this awful reality, but I felt frozen in place like I was trapped in a nightmare.
Kristen wrapped her arms around me, but it felt like we were holding onto the last remnants of a shattered dream. "We have to call for help... We need to get her to a hospital," she said, her voice trembling as if she was trying to hold it together.
"No..." I whispered, shaking my head. "No, no... It can't be... Not Y/N. Not like this." My breath hitched in my throat, and the tears I had been holding back poured out, unstoppable.
Memories flashed through my mindβlaughing until we cried, whispering secrets in the dark, making plans for the future. We were supposed to do everything together, to make the best memories. Now, that future felt ripped away, like a bad joke.
"Why did this happen?" I murmured, more to myself than to Kristen. The question hung there, heavy and suffocating. It felt like everything was against us, tearing apart what we had built together.
Kristen squeezed me tighter, both of us drowning in our grief. Y/N was always the one who pulled us back from the edge, reminding us that we could get through anything together. Now, without her, we were just two lost souls, shattered and confused.
"I don't know how to do this without her," I said, my voice barely a whisper.
Kristen nodded, her tears falling freely. "Neither do I... But we have to remember her. We have to make sure her light doesn't fade."
I closed my eyes, imagining Y/N's bright smile, the way her laughter filled the air, and how she could light up even the darkest days. If only I could have one more moment to tell her how much she meant to me, how grateful I was for every laugh and every late-night chat.
But all I felt was this huge emptiness, a silent scream echoing in my heart.
"Y/N..." I whispered, clutching my chest as the weight of everything pressed down on me. "I will never forget you. I promise."
In the middle of all this pain, a small spark of determination started to grow inside me. I would honor her memory, no matter how hard it was. I would carry her spirit with me, making sure her light would never go out.
As Kristen and I stood there, lost but united in our sorrow, I knew that Y/N's legacy would live on in our hearts, a part of us forever, even as we tried to navigate this confusing and dark world without her.
