EPISODE EIGHT: BUCK ACTUALLY

                                Adalynn sat inside the fire engine, holding her phone close to her ear "Lilliane, answer the phone right now" she whispered, slouching down into the seat "I need to talk to you"

Adalynn may or may not have panicked after her two roommates left which led to her leaving a note with the words

'went to work'

And as if that wasn't weird enough, she'd been dodging him like the damn plague.

The alarm rang causing her to quickly hang up and sit upright in the seat. The door opening. Chimney gave her a confused look.

Adalynn's lips pressed into a line "well, hurry up slow- pokes" she laughed awkwardly. The girl cursing herself.

Adalynn watched as Buck climbed into the engine, both adults avoiding each other's gaze as an awkward tension filled the area.

Adalynn practically flew out of the truck, her gaze landing on the Chen woman who was already walking towards her.

Liliane held out her arms "what the hell is with all the voice mails? Like this is mandatory if someone was dying"

Adalynn took her arm pulling her aside "look, I'm kinda freaking out over what I did last night"

The woman looked slightly confused as she uttered the same words before she understood "oh, you mean what you did- why, personally I'd feel great"

The Diaz glanced over her shoulder "yeah I would too if it didn't just screw everything up!"

"Okay now, you've lost me" Liliane stated with furrowed brows.

"I-"

"Adalynn" Bobby called out cutting her short, the man motioning his head towards the gas station.

"Coming!" She hollered back before turning to Liliane "come to the station and pretend to drop something off to me, 'Kay?" She nodded before jogging towards the gas station.

"Bonnie and Clyde meets dumb and dumber" Athena spoke, taking the hand cuffs from another officer.

"He seems fine" Eddie announced before looking over his shoulder "Pupils are dilated. Definitely high on something"

Athena scoffed "well I'll try to contain my shock, get him out of here"

"Stay strong baby bear" the man said as he was escorted to the door by other officers.

"I'm not your baby bear, jackass" the woman spat out with a shake of her head "men are the worst, right?" She turned to look at Hen.

The Wilson woman laughing "you're asking the wrong girl"

They wheel the blonde woman out of the gas station.

Adalynn stood from her crouched position "you seem to be okay but I would recommend going to the hospital to be safe" she said with a smile.

Earls head shook "no it's fine"

The woman next to him, Ruth spoke up "they're gonna take you to the hospital, earl"

"No, really I'm fine"

Bobby came up beside the Diaz girl, her gaze glancing at him but then to the man behind him, Buck. Adalynn shifting slightly.

"Sir, we heard you took quite a tumble. We'd feel a lot better if you got checked out" Bobby states to the man.

"You've already been a hero once today, Earl. Don't push your luck" Ruth said with a smile.

Earls face brightened at that comment "you thought I was being heroic?"

Ruth's smile dropped slightly as she looked around with a shrug "well, yeah... a bit stupid, but heroic"

"I was only thinking of you Ruth"

With that the woman smiled "next time, let 'em keep the till. Kind of like having you around"

Adalynn's nodded, walking past Bobby and Buck and heading towards the door.

The Buckley man jogged to catch up with her "hey, wait"

Adalynn's eyes squeezed shut before she turned looking at him. Buck took a breath, looking around quickly "we need to talk about last night"

Adalynn's lips pursed "uh, yeah, I know" she uttered.

"Okay, what was it-" Liliane stopped mid sentence as she noticed the Buckley man, giving him a nod and smile "Buck"

He smiled back, the man looked like he was about to say something but didn't besides giving a weird wave to Adalynn and walking out of the Gas Station.

"Why is it awkward between the two of you?" Liliane swiftly questioned once he was out of ear shot.

"It's awkward?" Adalynn uttered.

Liliane gave her a look with a scoff "please, you couldn't tell?"

Adalynn sighed heavily "okay, fine, he was the guy I slept with last night" she whispered, making sure no one else could hear.

Liliane gasped "oh my god! What!" Her voice much louder than Adalynn would've preferred.

As she looked at bothe Bobby and Athena who were giving them the same pointed look. The Diaz took the woman's arm, forcing her to walk with her "would've preferred if you didn't shout"

"Right, sorry" she nodded, before looking to Bhck "you know, you could've done a lot worse than him" she quirked a brow at the Diaz.

Adalynn's eyes narrowed "no, okay this is worst case scenario, okay!" She sighed "I have rules, no workplace relationships, it ends badly" she stated with a wave of her hand.

Liliane shrugged "well maybe this wouldn't" she suggested before walking to the squad car. Adalynn just giving her a look and refraining from saying something back.

Adalynn paced back and forth, tapping her phone against her hand, while she was biting the dry skin off her lips.

A knock on the door caused her head to turn that way. The girl setting her phone down and walking towards the door.

As she opened it to see the Buckley man "Okay, I'm just gonna start talking because if I don't I'm scared it's gonna get to an awkward silence- so at any point just tell me to shut up, please"

She turned and walked away from the door allowing him to walk in "so, last night, I- I really don't know what I was thinking, I don't do in house relationships I mean I just did that and it ended horribly, but still I kissed you, why did I kiss you!!?"

Her brows furrowed as she continues to ramble on "I just- my mind is running laps, okay, I've been avoiding you all day and I just" her hand went to her forehead "I'm panicking a little... A lot. I mean, I panicked so much I couldn't even face you this morning"

Adalynn didn't realize how close the man even was until she done with her speech.

The woman took a deep breath. Her mind was a complete and utter mess in this very moment. Why did she kiss him last night?  Did she like Evan Buckley in that way?

"Maybe" she whispered out, pausing for only a moment. Her gaze locked on him. She hated the way she was feeling in this very moment, it felt like her stomach was doing back flips it's like every inhibition just left her, she didn't want to think what she was thinking.

The woman quickly moved forward closing the gap between them. Adalynn's hands resting on the side of his face, While the Bucks hands found her waist.

Adalynn slowly pulling away, the girl taking a breath before she looks at the man, her hands on his shoulders "maybe, just for the time being, we don't label whatever this is"

Buck nods "okay"

Her shoulders bunch " 'Cause you're fresh out of a relationship, so" her head tilts "well technically you've been single for months" she uttered.

Buck rolled his eyes "why does everyone keep saying that?"

Adalynn just laughed lightly before their lips meet once again.

Adalynn climbed out of the engine, pulling on her turnout coat as she did. "Who do we got?" Bobby questions as he made his way around the engine.

"Couple of newlyweds" Athena states "drivers Paul Williams, no ID on the passenger."

Lilianes fingers hooked onto her belt as she spoke "another car drifted into their lane, the driver tried to avoid getting hit, car went off the road"

The team begin to walk towards the edge of the lane "Bobby, it's bad" Athena said with a shake of her head "Cars wrapped tight around that tree"

"Come on guys, hustle up!" Bobby stated as they begin to make their way down the hill. "Drivers name is Paul"

Adalynn's eyes glanced over the wrecked car, letting a breath out.

"Damn" Buck uttered "the tree's folded right into the car"

Adalynn jogged over to the car, the woman yanking tree branches that covered the windows off.

"Eddie, see if you can get to her"

Adalynn grabbed ahold of the car door along with Eddie and Bobby the three pulling the door to see if it would budge even just the slightest amount. And to their luck it did.

Eddie reached in placing two fingers on her neck "I got a pulse, she's alive!"

Buck shakes his head "I don't have a clear path to the groom. Cap, can you get him from your side?"

"Negative" Bobby grabbed his radio "hen, Chim, we're gonna need jaws. Two passengers in bad shape, one confirmed alive, no access to the other"

Adalynn made her way around the car, beside Buck, the woman leaning her head inside to look at the surroundings inside the vehicle. Her head rose, hand on the top of the car "cap, I could climb through the window, I'm small enough"

Bobby paused, contemplating for a moment before giving a curt nod "okay, go"

Adalynn shrugged off her coat, setting it on the forest floor, the girl glancing at Buck as she placed her hand on his shoulder while her other hand grabbed ahold of roof rack to help pull herself up, the woman sliding her feet through the window.

Adalynn rested on her knees, her hand grasping onto the tree branch that had gone right through the car as she leaned forward switching her hand on the console, she pulled herself glove off with her teeth. reaching forward she placed two fingers on the man's neck. His pulse drumming against her fingers.

Adalynn dropped the glove from her mouth as she spoke "he's alive, I got his pulse!"

Bobby reached for the radio "alright, scratch that make it two"

"Paul" Adalynn spoke as she reached for her glove, tossing it in the back seat "LAFD, can you hear me?"

Adalynn listen closely as a faint groan leaves Paul's lips.

Adalynn moved back to the window, pulling herself out halfway "he might be conscious or gaining consciousness, cap"

Bobby nodded "alright let's keep them alive"

Adalynn climbed out of the vehicle. Picking up her coat and pulling it back on.

Her gaze shifts as footsteps crunching up leaves, Hen and Chimney coming down bringing the Jaws with them. Eddie takes them placing them on the passenger door. The machine prying the door open.

"Okay, pull her out!"

Eddie moves and places the jaws on the back door prying it open as well allowing Chimney to climb inside placing the c-Collar around the woman's neck.

The team carefully begin to pull herself out and onto the gurney.

"Okay, I got an open femoral fracture, right leg" Chimney announced before Hen added "and probably a broken Pelvis. Cap! We gotta move her!"

Adalynn jogged around to the opposite side of the gurney, grabbing ahold of the metal bar as Hen counts down "one, two, three"

The four lifting up the gurney, and walking her up to the Ambo.

Night had fallen, now limiting how much they can see to their lights. The firefighters trying to figure out a way to get the man out of the vehicle.

"Hang in there, Paul. We're gonna get you out" Eddie said reassuringly.

The team had now moved to extracting the tree branches from inside the car. "Damn, there's as much tree as there is car" Chimney comments as he begins to bush the branch through the windshield. Buck and Bobby pulling it the rest of the way.

Once the tree was out of the way Eddie was able to place a C-Collar on him. Adalynn moved to the door "how is he?"

Eddie's head shook "breathings shallow. Pulse is weak, he's lost a lot of blood"

Adalynn sighed "so... Tired" Paul uttered, his eyes falling closed, Eddie snapped his fingers as he began to try and make him talk.

Adalynn walked over to Bobby and Buck "he's running out of time, we need a plan"

Buck motioned to the car "it's like this thing went through a  crusher with him still inside, we can't just cut him out"

Adalynn's lips pursed as she looked back at the car, until Bobby's voice pulled her back "well, if we can't cut him out of the car... let's get rid of the car"

"Alright guys, one end to the fire truck one to the tow truck, let's pull this thing apart" Bobby ordered.

Adalynn dragged the chain along with Buck and Bobby, Buck laying down and hooking it onto the front of the vehicle.

"Got it?" Adalynn questioned, the man nodding as he stood "yep"

"You really think this is gonna work?" Buck asked, looking to the older man.

Bobby shrugged "it's all we got"

Adalynn looked at the car one last time "well, we better pray that it works"

"Alright, Eddie, Chim, clear the vehicle" Bobby stated the two exiting the car "are we secure?"

"Yep" Eddie answered the whole team backing up before Bobby gave the signal to the two drivers as they begin to drive in opposite directions. Adalynn could hear the metal tearing and creaking.

"Alright, let's go!" Bobby shouted. "Body board"

Eddie climbed back in, removing any debris that was around him before pulling him out far enough for the others to help. Paul groaning in pain.

Once he was fully on Bobby counted to three as they lift the man up and carry him towards the ambo

"You slept with him again!?" Liliane exclaimed.

Adalynn rolled her eyes as she took a bite of her food "relax, it's not a big deal- right?" Her gaze shifts to Adam "is it!?"

Adam set his drink down "pushing aside my anger that you didn't tell me first" he gave her a look through raised brows "No it's not, your basically just friends with benefits- basically every guys dream"

Liliane shrugged "personally, I think it's a big deal, what if you catch feelings? Unless you have them already?"

Adalynn shook her head "no! Well I- I don't think so" she murmured

Adam and Liliane share a look. Adalynn stood up bringing her plate to the sink "okay I'm walking away before you two make me over think, everything"

"Adalynn!" The two shout just as she closes her door. "Y'know, this is a little unacceptable how she's not telling us everything" Adam said offensively "I mean you I get but me!"

Liliane gave him a stern look through narrow eyes.

Adam shrugged "what?"
