008: Helicopter Down

9-1-1 Season 2
Episode 6: Dosed

───────────────────

Adalynn walked into the restaurant, her brows raising at the look on Adam's face, the girl stopping at the table "What?"

Adam frowned, his shoulders bunched "Nothing"

The Diaz scoffed as she took her seat "Please, I've known you for three years- Your judging what I'm wearing"

A smile tugged on his lips "I mean- Jeans, at this place?"

Adalynn's eyes narrowed as she leaned on the table "you picked out this fancy-ass restaurant- It's not like we're out on a date, you're literally gay, Adam" she motions to the man "And You're wearing the same thing!"

"I'm a dude" he defended, he smirked at the now slightly annoyed Adalynn "I'm kidding, Ads"

The girl sighed giving her friend a look "well, you're lucky were in public- or I would've kicked your ass"

Adalynn picked up the menu, her face contorting at the sight of the prices.

"So" Adam trailed off, his voice going into a whisper "Any new guys in your life"

Adalynn chuckled "god no" she shakes her head, glancing at the Whitlock man who was giving her another look causing her to sigh "What?"

He paused, hesitating to answer "Your not hung up on him, are you?" Adalynn knowing exactly who he was referring too "I just want you to be happy, Adalynn- you deserve it"

She inhaled sharply as she frowns "Nope, I'm not hung up on Jake, and for all I care he can burn in hell"

Adam laughed at her comment "he's in Texas- trust me it feels like hell there"

A wide smile adorned The curly-haired girls face while Adam added "Heard you guys rescued the woman who was trying to sue that construction sight"

Adalynn's eyes widen "That was her!?" she leaned back in her seat with a laugh "You know she used to steal packages and got the name Porch Pirate?"

Adam scoffed lightly "doesn't surprise me"

"Surprised the hell out of me" She uttered, her brows pull together "so, how long are you staying now?"

Adam pursed his lips "well, not too sure- I actually got an offer from a law firm up here but I'm not sure if i should take it"

Adalynn narrowed her eyes at the man "How much money are they offering you?"

Adam shook his head frantically "I'm not telling you that, you might try to stab me with that knife" who motions to the utensil beside her.

The woman rolled her eyes "More or less than you're making now"

Adam heistated for a moment, his lips pressed in a line "more" he coughed out.

Adalynn's eye widen "More!?" her voice coming out louder then she had meant, she looked around awkwardly "And you're pondering on taking the job?"

"Well, it's a big decision to move all the way out here" Adam argued causing Adalynn to shake her head "Please, if I got offered to work for more money- I'd take it"

"No you wouldn't" Adam countered, avoiding her gaze.

Adalynn looked slightly taken aback "how would you know?" She looked at him- almost cockily.

"Trust me- you left El Paso to move out here with your brother because he got recruited as a firefighter at the 118" he shrugs "you won't go anywhere without the people you care most about, aka, your Brother and Nephew"

Adalynn ran her tongue across her teeth before pursing her lips "well-" she stumbled on her words knowing he was right "you may have a point"

The Whitlock man chuckled lightly at the girl who was now pretending to read over the menu- even though she saw it all already.

"God I missed you"

Adalynn stood with her hands on her hips looking at the couch then to the door that herself, Eddie, and Buck were trying to fit it through.

"Maybe we pop the hinges" Eddie suggests, coming up beside his sister.

Buck tilts his head "or we use the jaws of life"

Adalynn snorts looking at the man- her smile fading lightly noticing the seriousness on his face "Oh, you weren't kidding"

"No, no, no" Maddies voice filled their ears "it has to fit. I measured it twice. Can't you guys just, you know, turn it around the other way"

"Then the pizza will slide off" Buck states to his sister.

Adalynn's brows pull together "wait, we have Pizza?"

Maddie's eyes narrow "wait! You have pizza on my new sofa!?" The woman looked around the couch before grabbing the boxes giving her younger brother a look and walking inside.

Adalynn looked between the two men "when the hell did we get Pizza?!" She questions tossing her hands up.

Adalynn would do anything for food- and that wasn't even an exaggeration.

"Right before you came" Buck told the girl before Eddie added "I said not to say anything because you would just eat the pizza and not help"

Adalynn scoffed shaking her head "of course I would've!" She stormed past the two and into the apartment.

"Maddie!" She called out jogging up to the woman "I'll take those Pizzas"

"Oh, okay" Maddie handed the boxes to her "thank you"

Adalynn smiled "of course- I'm also angry at my brother and yours for hiding food from me, so" she shrugged setting the pizzas on the fireplace mantle.

She glanced to the doorway at the sound of Eddie's voice. She opened the top box taking a slice of pizza.

The curly-haired girl leaned against the wall watching the men struggle.

"Lift with your legs" Chimney called out before going back to explaining the security app to Maddie.

"This pizza's really good!" Adalynn called out, her voice slightly muffled by the food.

Buck gave her a look as he set the couch down, Adalynn just flashing him a tight-lipped smile.

"Hey, thank you guys, for helping me on your day off" Maddie thanked the group.

Eddie waved her off "don't worry about it" he made his way towards his sister, the man going to grab a piece of pizza- more interested in the food than anything "plates?"

"Countertop, kitchen" Maddie replied, Eddie heading that direction.

Chimney hands Maddie the tablet to the security system "beer?"

She smiles and nods "also kitchen, fridge"

Chimney gives her a nod making his way towards the kitchen "clever"

"I could use a beer- you know after all the heavy lifting I did" Adalynn teased raising her brows at Buck as she passed the man, following the others into the kitchen.

"Yeah, sure" Buck scoffed but he couldn't hold back the smile that tugged at his lips.

Adalynn had a bright smile on her face- standing on the bumper of the engine.

Makayla stood wide-eyed with her arms up- her clothes soaked in soapy water "Adalynn-"

The Diaz rolled her lips into her mouth in an attempt to contain her laughter but ultimately failed due to the look on her best friends face.

"Did you push that off!?" Makayla accused the woman, pointing a finger in her direction.

Adalynn threw her hands up in defense "No! I swear to god" she laughed once again having to step off the Bumper "it fell-"

A gasp leaves Adalynn's lips- a wet sponge hitting her in the chest the soapy water splashing onto her face and soaking her shirt.

This time Makayla was the one laughing.

"Ladies!" A voice boomed causing their faces to drop, both girls standing straight and looking at their captain "enough fooling around and get to work!"

"Yes, sir" both say in unison.

Adalynn's brows draw together from the repeated beeping filling her ears, pulling her from her dream- though it was more of a memory.

She groggily opened her eyes, swiping the alarm emitting from her phone off.

The Diaz rolled into her back, a heavy sigh leaving her lips.

Her dream bringing back a memory that made her feel so bitter sweet but sad at the same time.

Adalynn had gotten used to saying the words that she was 'fine'- I mean she felt fine but was she really?

Or was she just kidding herself.

Adalynn's door burst open- the Diaz sitting up frantically from this action.

"Adalynn!" Lillian's voice was loud "girl, you're going to be late!"

"What?" Adalynn eyes widen slightly, the girl fumbling to grab her phone noticing the time it read "shit!"

She flung the sheets off her body- practically jumping out of her bed "thank god it's your day off"

Lillian chuckles "lucky you" she took a breath "but, um, now that you're awake- you know Athena Grant, right?"

Adalynn glanced at her roommate "yeah, why?"

"Well" the girl trailed off "the person who I've been doing my training with got injured and they're replacing him with Athena-"

"And you wanna know if she's a hard-ass" Adalynn smiled lightly at her friend while grabbing her work uniform.

"More or less"

"I wouldn't worry" Adalynn shrugged "though she is a little intimidating"

Lillian bit her cheek, with a nod "yeah, okay. Well, thank you"

Adalynn jogged up the steps to the fire house.

"Adalynn Diaz, late?" Buck questioned pretending to look at a watch.

The woman rolled her eyes at him "Evan Buckley, being an ass?" She grabbed a grape from the table looking at the rest of her team "over slept"

The bell rang, causing Adalynn to groan as she turned around and quickly made her way down the stairs she had previously just came up.

The engine rolled to a stop- police blocking of the remaining area whilst strong wind gust blow from the propellers of the Helicopter currently stuck sideways on a pair of bleachers.

The 118 stayed pressed against the truck avoiding any flying debris until they heard the full story and a game-plan.

Athena rounded the Engine, her voice loud for them to hear over the helicopter "when the pilot radioed in they were having mechanical trouble. Looks like he tried to put it down in the field over there"

Bobby peaked around the engine "yeah, he got close"

"Not close enough" Athena added before looking at the crowd of bystanders crouched down- and of course recording. The woman's voice raised into a yell telling them to move.

"Alright, guys, we're gonna fan out, go behind those bleachers" Bobby ordered putting his helmet on "Eddie, after we get those people out you think you can kill that engine?"

Eddie looked at the helicopter "think so, I'm just worried about the dynamic rollover"

Adalynn's brows pull together "the what?"

Buck's hand raised slightly "yeah, the dynamic what?"

"We change the weight ratio by pulling people out, the whole thing could tip over, rotors could snap off" Eddie explained to the two clearly confused people.

"And then flying rocks are gonna be the least of our problems"

Bobby nods "alright visors down, let's go!"

The team break off into a sprint- to get there as fast as they could though Adalynn preferably didn't want a rock to the head.

"Buck get her out of there!"

Buck nods giving a short reply before opening the door "alright wrap your arms around me"

The red-haired woman did as he said but just as he went to move her the whole helicopter shifted.

"Woah, woah!" Adalynn shouted holding her heads up "it's that dynamic whatever Eddie was talking about!" She informed the Buckley man.

"We gotta keep it from rolling!" Eddie shouts to the group, Adalynn stepping on the edge of the Helicopter others doing the same in an attempt to stop the moving machine.

Buck attempted to pull the woman out which seemed to work out better this time as he carried her away from the scene.

"Alright on three, one, two, three-" Bobby pulled out the pilot and Eddie quickly got into the seat- replacing his weight and began to shut the engine off- the propellers slowly coming to a stop.

Adalynn took her helmet off her head and pulled her gloves off while she made her way towards the ambulance where Hen was currently assessing the red haired woman. Just hearing part of the conversation.

"I- I know that voice. It's, uh, Taylor Kelly reporting right?" Buck motioned over his shoulder to the Helicopter "Skywitness News Eight!"

"That's me" she chuckled out with a shrug.

Adalynn gave the man a look- before glancing to the Wilson woman who just shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes.

"Wow, um it's weird to hear that voice come out of a face"

"Smooth- nice fan-girling, Buck" Adalynn gave him a thumbs up with a tight-lipped smile- her comment earning a look from the man.

"I'm not fan-girling-"

She inhaled sharply "sure" she trailed off- shrugging, the girl walking backwards before turning around and heading towards the engine.

Adalynn heavily sighed while walking out of the changing room- tucking her shirt into her pants.

Her attention shifting at Bucks voice "uh, Taylor Kelly? What, uh, what are you doing here?"

The Diaz's brows pull together at the sight of the woman from yesterday.

"You can just call me Taylor" She states to the man "Uh, how was your drive in? Did you miss me?"

Buck's lips pull into a small smile "my morning definitely wasn't the same without you"

Adalynn scoffed with a roll of her eyes at the pairs Interaction. An uncomfortable feeling turning in her stomach.

"Hey, how you feeling?" Eddie spoke up from the gym area pulling Taylor's attention away from the Buckley man "any side effects from the crash?"

"I'm great" Taylor answered.

Bucks gaze leaves Taylor and onto Adalynn who was hastily making her way up the stairs to the upper level.

Adalynn pursed her lips and looked through the fridge- though she wasn't sure why she wasn't even hungry.

"Surprised you didn't call me a fangirl again" Buck comments, leaning on the counter.

Adalynn laughed glancing at the man "please- you were practically drooling over her, didn't want to interrupt your little moment" she whispered the end shutting the fridge.

Buck's face contorts "I was not"

That only cause Adalynn to laugh "please you were totally hitting on the woman- which dating people we save is actually not a good idea" she bunches her shoulders.

Buck frowns with a nod before standing straight "you sound kinda jealous there, Adalynn" he teased the girl.

The woman rolled her eye "trust me- I am not jealous" she held up a hand "especially not of you"

Buck placed a dramatic hand to his chest a fake hurt expression on his face.

Adalynn gave him a look, shoving him lightly "there are two things I've learned as a firefighter- don't date people you save and definitely do not date co-workers"

"Learned that the hard way" she uttered under her breath. Causing the Buckley man to give her a confused look.

"Buck, Adalynn!" Bobby's voice shouted at the pair who were upstairs.

Adalynn leaned over the railing buck coming to her side as they look at the man "Taylor's gonna be with us for a while"

"Sounds good cap!" Adalynn shouted down to the man.

The Nash man turned back to the woman who was being followed around by a camera "you must've really impressed the chief. He said you have access to everything you need"

"Don't worry Caltain Nash, you're stories in good hands" Taylor reassured the man "I'm gonna make you all famous!"

Adalynn's eyes narrowed slightly while looking at the woman.

"What?" Buck questioned the girl.

Adalynn shook her head while taking a breath "nothing" she answered before walking away from the man.

Adalynn didn't know how she felt about Taylor Kelly following them around with a camera- nor did she like how she was going to be interviewed.

There are certain things Adalynn definitely didn't want to be famous for.

And she did not want a pity party from her co-workers.
