Episode 4 - Stuck

        Adalynn chuckled lightly at her brothers comment as she nudged the door open to her now, new apartment. The curly haired girl set the box in her hands down on the island counter, Eddie setting the own he was carrying beside it.

"Okay, I think that's everything" Adalynn nods with her hands on her hips, looking at the piles of boxes that now filled the once almost empty apartment aside from a few furnishings like a couch and a bed frame.

The younger Diaz began to peel off the tape on one of the boxes that was already sticking up- Which was bugging Adalynn. Even though she would't admit it she was probably a little OCD when it came to certain things. She liked things a certain way and in a certain order.

She stood on her tiptoes, tipping the box over slightly as she looked at the pile of pictures in frames, A small smile forming on her face as she looked at the one picture with herself, Adam, And Makayla, the girl remembering that day like it was yesterday.

"Chris is gonna miss you" Eddie's voice pulled the girl from her trance, Adalynn glanced at the man as she grabbed the picture, setting it on the counter.

Adalynn tsk, "Don't worry, you know how bad of a cook I am, I'm not done mooching off you yet" She gives him a playful smirk causing Eddie to laugh, his head falling forward "Beside, Don't tell our sisters but Chris is my favourite Nephew, he knocks them all out of the park"

Eddie and Adalynn were always close- I mean three girls under one roof sharing a large room didn't exactly form the greatest relationship, The three girls would bicker over stupid things like 'that's my shirt'  'Get out of my side of the room' So Adalynn usually went to Eddie, and Eddie being older he just couldn't say no to the girl.

Adalynn picks up the box once again before setting it on the ground "I Mean, you remember my thanksgiving massacre back in El Paso. Sophia and Adriana were sick the rest of the weekend" she recalls talking about the Diaz's other siblings.

"And they never put you in charge of making a holiday dinner ever again" Eddie adds earning a look from the girl, Adalynn rolled her eyes even though she knew it was a good choice to never let her cook a holiday dinner ever again.

Adalynn presses her lips together and looks around the room "You know what I should get" She paused, her brows pulling together while she nods "I should get a dog" a wide grin spreads on her face.

Eddie chuckles "A dog?" Adalynn hums in response.

She grabs the second box off the counter "Maybe a golden retriever- oh!" The girl shot up, with a look of excitement on her face "A Dalmatian! I mean come on, a firefighter with a Dalmatian. Makes perfect sense"

Eddie laughs at the girl, With a shake of his head. Adalynn was spontaneous even though she liked order and certain things a certain way- I mean the girl made a check list for almost everything but there are the rare times were she would do something that wasn't exactly the brightest idea and the other time where her mind was scattered as she tried to do a million things at once. 

Adalynn looked around the room before looking deep in thought, the girl making a make-shift checklist in her head as she spoke out-loud "Okay, boxes with all my junk, check, mattress, furniture I have to build" she trails off before clasping her hands together "I think that's everything"

Eddie nods "Alright, now let's spend our day off like we should"

Adalynn purses her lips with a nod "sitting on the couch with a cold beer in our hands" she laughs lightly "Just like papa use to say"

Adalynn smiles as she opens the fridge- Adalynn being Adalynn she had already pre-stocked her fridge before she began moving all of her things in. The girl grabbed two beers, handing one to Eddie before the siblings walked over to the couch.

Adalynn tossed her feet onto the coffee table while she and Eddie cheers. She took a sip before looking at her brother "After this we should probably get Chris from Abuela's"

"Yeah, probably" The two laugh lightly.

Adalynn looks at her brother before she spoke "Have you found a nanny or a babysitter, full time care for Chris yet?"

Eddie sighed but before he could answer Adalynn cut him off "So that's a no"

"I just wanna make sure he's in the right hands" Eddie tries to defend himself even though he was being particularly stubborn when it came to this topic "And the paperwork-"

Adalynn looks at her brother "You're never going to find the perfect person because no one's perfect" her head tilts "But, you need to stop being incredibly picky on it"

Eddie nods before he points to her "You know, I'm the big brother I'm supposed to be giving you advice"

She inhales sharply, bunching her shoulders "Guess we know who's wiser than"

her words gain a scoff from Eddie causing the girl to chuckle.

The team hop out of the truck as they walk down the sidewalk. Adalynn eyed the people holding up phones to where she was assuming the whole reason as to why they're there.

"LAFD, please step back" Bobby asked the small crown of people who took a step back at his words.

"Please help me!" A frantic mans voice filled the younger Diaz's ears, the girl peering through the small space between the two apartment buildings "Someone help me, please!"

Her brows cinch together before her attention turns upwards "Wow" she utters before inhaling a sharp breath at the man who was stuck between the buildings rather high up then one would like to be though being stuck between buildings wouldn't exactly be on anyones check list. "Would hate to be him" she adds.

Chimney shakes his head "Whoa. Whatever you do, brother, Don't suck in that gut"

The 118 quickly rushed up to the roof of one of the buildings the man was stuck between, Adalynn peered over the edge of the building to the man.

"How are you doing George?" Bobby asks the man.

George tries to glance upwards as much as he could "I can't- I can't feel my legs" He paused for a moment "And.. I think my ankles broken"

Hen shouts down at the man from the opposite building "Sir, do you have any idea how long you've been down there?"

Adalynn listened closely to his answer "I saw the sun come up" Adalynn was no paramedic but she knew that couldn't be good.

Buck looked over the edge, his head tilting to the side "He's wedged in there pretty good"

"How's you're breathing?" Hen asks, leaning over the railing slightly.

"I can't really take a deep breath" George replied to the woman.

"Hey George can you show us how high up you can reach?" Buck shouts down "if we can drop you a line we might be able to pull you up"

"Okay" George uttered, slowly inching his hand upwards. "Take it easy George" Adalynn said to the man.

Adalynn flinched slightly while the man shifted, a pained yell leaving his lips. Bobby held his hand out "George just" he paused "keep hanging in there, we will get you out"

the team step back looking to their captain "what are you thinking, Cap?" Chim questions the man.

"We're going to have to break through one of the walls and pull him through" Bobby said, answering his question.

Adalynn nods "Okay, well I could rappel down make sure you don't hit him while you're going through the wall. I'm small enough to fit between the buildings without getting stuck"

Bobby looks at her then at the man giving her a nod "Okay, hook up, we'll communicate with you through the radio"

Adalynn gives a curt nod, taking the bag from one of the firefighters pulling out the rappel gear, the girl begging to strap on her harness while the others head down the building stairs.

The curly haired Diaz searched the building for a secure spot to attach her rope too, once it was tied off properly and correctly she looked to Chimney "Don't let me fall"

"You're just full of optimism" Chimney jokes holding the rope in his hands

Adalynn shrugged glancing down the building edge "Making jokes makes me feel better about what I'm doing" she chuckles before lowering herself, Chimney helping keep her steady and slowly rappelling down.

the girl held her hand up signalling for Chimney to stop and hold her in place "Hey sir, How are you feeling" Adalynn spoke to the man beside her the girl pressing her feet on on side of the building and leaning her back on the other building from the other side relieving some of her weight from Chimney's hold.

"I've been better" he said in a panicked tone, Adalynn put a more serious tone to her voice looking at him "Don't worry we won't let anything happen to you, Sir"

The girl grabbed her radio "In position, Cap"

"Copy that" Bobby's voice filled her ears, Adalynn's eyes stay trained on the wall looking for any sign of where the were about to drill and hammer through.

Adalynn could faintly hear the buzzing from the drill her eyes peeking over the man, Adalynn grabbing her radio "I think you're good" she informed them, though she wasn't exactly sure where the were precisely drilling she had an idea of the vicinity. the drilling continued before finally it broke through the brick wall.

George shout in fear but Adalynn placed a hand on his shoulder "It's alright, you're okay" she reassured him. The drill retreating back into the apartment "A little close there, Cap and a little high" Adalynn shouted so they could hear.

Adalynn could faintly here the banging from the inside of the building "Just stay calm George, this is how we're going to get you out"

"Alright, George, I'm going to need you to control your breathing a take shallow breaths" Eddie informs the man.

Adalynn gave him a reassuring smile "Just listen to what he said, control your breathing you're going to be okay" Adalynn glanced up towards her brother "Go, You're good" she shouted at him the man giving her a nod before disappearing into the building.

"I think you'Re too close to me!" George shouted fear in his tone.

Adalynn shook her head "No, no, we're exactly where we need to be to help you George, just remain calm as scary as it is"

"Alright we're almost there George, how you holding up?" Bobby asked the man glancing through the hole in the wall.

"Please hurry cause" he paused "I gotta take a leak"

Bobby quickly stuck his head back in the hole "Okay, maybe hold off on that for a minute"

Adalynn pursed her lips trying to keep her composure, taking a breath.

"Adalynn, can you tell him what's going to happen to get him on the inside of the building while we wait for Eddie and Hen to get here" Bobby asked his head still inside the building this time.

"copy that" she answered before shifting her gaze to George "Okay, so what's going to happen is they're going to pull you through the hole they just made but the downfall is they're going to have to pull pretty hard and it might feel like you're falling but trust me you're not. if you panic or struggle it's going to be much harder to get you inside"

Adalynn finished explaining before she spoke "Do you understand?"

"Just don't- don't drop me, please" George begged "I don't wanna die"

"relax, everything's going to be okay" Bobby assured "Alright take a breath and just exhale. One, two, three"

Adalynn watched carefully while George began to go down another pained yell leaving his lips "Alright Adalynn, we got him" Bobby announces "you're good to come in"

Adalynn tugged on the rope signalling for Chimney to lower her some more before stopping once again. The Diaz girl pulled herself through the hole the the wall Eddie holding his hand out for her to take- which she graetfully does before unhooking the rope and tugging on it twice for Chimney to pull up then meet the others at the bottom.

"Liked to see you fit in there" Adalynn jokes with a chuckled.

"Who knew having a gut was gonna save my life" George mumbled causing Adalynn to smile before he said a whole bunch of thank you's to the group.

Eddie swiftly rounded his truck Adalynn getting out of the passenger side helping Chris out of the truck "See, you're dad's making me late"

"You have your own car" Eddie commented grabbing his sons backpack.

Adalynn raised her brows "Yeah and I'm still waiting on the auto transport company to bring it down, they literally passed L.A just to come" she let out an annoyed sigh "Like are they stupid"

"That's not a nice thing to say" Christopher comments while Eddie knocks on the door to their Abuela's

Adalynn pressed her lips together before nodding "You're absolutely right, I should not have said that" she smiled softly at the boy.

Eddie walked down the steps just as their Abuela walked out the door "Eddito" she called out gaining his attention

"morning Abuela" Eddie said to the woman. "Adalynn" she said softly with a smile

the curly haired girl walked up to the woman giving her a hug "It's good to see you, Abuela"

but their grandmothers attention shifts to Chris as she motions to him looking between the two adults "Eddie, help him out"

Eddie motions to his son "He wants to do it himself" he argued"

"he was on a warpath to do everything himself this morning" Adalynn whisper to her Abuela.

She smiled before crouching slightly "Hola, Mi angel"

"Hola" Christopher spoke with a wide grin causing Adalynn to chuckle.

Her Abuela looked to the girl "When are you going to give me another one of him?"

Adalynn's eyes widen "Ay, Abuela, don't try to lock me down just yet" she bunches her shoulders "I'm still young"

"Thank you for taking him" Eddie said to the woman.

She quickly shook his head "Taking him is not a problem, giving him back, that's the hard part"

"I feel that" Adalynn pipped in "I don't know what I'm gonna do when I get my own place"

Eddie smiled before hugging his son quickly and racing to the car. Adalynn's eyes widen in shock and slight fear.

"Edmundo!" she clapped her hands rapidly, in a scolding way "where's the fire"

"I can't believe you left without giving her a kiss" Adalynn teased, and kind of sucking up to her Abuela "Estupido, huh" she sang out while Christopher laughed.

Eddie gave her a look as he jogged over placing a kiss on the older woman cheek. She motioned a cross over him before cupping his face "that's better, now go to work"

Adalynn gave her a swift hug and a kiss on the cheek, he Abuela doing the same to her as she did Eddie "Be safe" she called out to the two Diaz's who were heading towards the mans truck.

"How does one get their head stuck in a tailpipe?" Adalynn questions in disbelief, with a shake of her head.

"Grab a creeper and some blocks" Bobby instructs while two woman come running out

"She's over here" the one states. Buck and Eddie pass them, the woman's brows raising "holy crap, you are hot"

Adalynn rolled her eyes as she passed the woman, her gaze looking through the bar a whistle leaving her lips "Wow, it's like I'm back in Texas" she paused "The cheap version" she adds looking at the person riding the mechanical bull.

Chimney laughed at her comment while the walked out the back door a crowd of people surrounding the area. Adalynn raised her voice "Excuse me, clear a path!"

the people quickly move out of the way from the loudness of her tone.

"Hi, what's her name?" Chimney questioned

"Betty" the man answered "Jennifer" a muffled voice corrected coming from the woman with her head stuck in the tailpipe.

"Sorry, i thought you meant my truck" he motions to the vehicle. Adalynn rolled her eyes.

Bobby's brows raise at the man "this is your truck?"

He shrugged "yeah, but it's not like i backed into her, she did this on her own free will"

"you dared her too" the woman's friend pipped in. "we were flirting" the man tried to defend

Adalynn motioned to the tailpipe "Is that even a legal size, My guess would be no"

The mans attention shifted to her, his gaze eyeing her up and down "Damn, I did know fire-ladies were so hot"

Adalynn scoffed with a disgusted look on her face "And now you'll never see one more disgusted" she holds her hand up "not interested"

Eddie glared at the man "Your idea of flirting with a girl is daring her to stick her head into your tailpipe"

"oh man" Buck muttered as he rolled under the truck.

Chimney crouched "hu, Jennifer, LAFD. How you feeling?"

"Uh, pretty good actually except for the whole, you know ginormous tailpipe on my head" Jennifer answered.

Hen lowered herself to the ground while she spoke "He Jennifer, you're gonna feel us poking around, we're just checking you out okay?"

"why's this tailpipe so large" Chimney questioned

"It's custom" Brent, the man, answered.

Bobby glanced at him "where'd she get these bruises on her arm?"

"they're not for me" Brent was quick to defend himself.

"It's from the bull, she rode it like five times" her other friend pipped in.

Buck slides back out from under the truck "these things are meant to increase the power to the engine"

"yep" Brent answered proudly

Bobby examined the tailpipe once more "TSA 230 saw should do the job"

Adalynn didn't even bother to hide the smirk on her face "like a knife through butter" she adds

"chim!" Bobby calls out, Chimney jogs over "way ahead of you, Cap" he hands him his jacket and the saw

Brent's eyes widen "what?! No, I spent, 1,200 bucks on that tailpipe!"

"should learn to spend your money more wisely or get better at flirting" Adalynn crosses her arms looking at him.

"you might wanna close your eyes during this part" Bobby adds.

Adalynn watched as the woman with the pink shirt walks towards Buck holding out her phone "Here, just type your number in there and I'll text you so you'll have mine"

"I miss day-drinking" Adalynn uttered.

"Uh, thanks but I actually have a girlfriend, and I need to focus right now so my captain doesn't cut your friends head off" Buck said to the woman.

"Hi, do you have snapchat?" the other woman asked Eddie, Adalynn couldn't help the laugh that escaped her lips, earning a nasty look from the woman.

"Ella esta coqueteando contigo" she spoke to her brother, teasing him in Spanish with a sly smirk on her face.

Eddie rolled his eyes at his sister from her comment. Buck looked at her with furrowed brows "you speak Spanish?"

"Surprised you knew what language they were speaking, Buck" Chimney commented causing Adalynn to laugh and Buck to send a glare his way.

"No" Eddie finally answered the woman "And uh, I don't think I'm what you're looking for. I have a son"

"that's great, so do I" The girl swiftly countered "Ella es implacable" Adalynn laughed out "you better run while you can, Edmundo" she teased.

"Shut up" Eddie snapped at his sister but not so much in a mean way.

"I think I'm gonna puke" Jennifer shouts from the tailpipe.

"you better not" her friend in the hot pink shirt shouts "these fire guys are totally hot"

Chimney held his hand up "all right, let's say we move the peanut gallery a few steps over this way, thank you" he guides the two woman back further from the scene. "Everybody back a bit, thank you!"

"Alright Jennifer keep your head completely still you're gonna hear a lot of noise but everything is fine" Hen informed the woman.

Bobby began to saw the tailpipe off, Jennifer screaming as he did "What are you doing!?"

Adalynn helped keep the woman's head stable as they straightened her upright.

"we need some lube" Eddie states looking over the tailpipe.

"I got some!" The friend piped in, handing it to Chimney "Clutch" he comments tossing it towards Adalynn which she catches with ease.

Adalynn squeezed some out of the tube around the outline of her head. Eddie and Buck begin to slowly pull the tailpipe off her head until she was finally free.

Jennifer wiped her hair out of her face glancing between the two men "wow, you really are hot"

"would you like us to transport you to the hospital, get checked out?" Hen asks the woman gaining her attention.

Her friend scoffed "no she just needs another drink"

"no, what she needs to do is go home" Bobby countered "All three of you do, in a cab" Bobby's gaze shifts to Jennifer who was still sitting on the ground "Listen to me, when you sober up, you feel like you have a headache or blurry vision, or you feel confused you gotta get yourself to a hospital you understand"

Jennifer nods before she breaks out into a giggle fit.

Adalynn shook her head as she began to walk away "Take me with you" Eddie whispered to the girl while he followed after her.

"So is your son really the reason you don't date?" Buck questions, joining the pair.

"it's his excuse" Adalynn eyed her brother, the man giving her a look more-so telling her to drop whatever she was going to say about Shannon.

"No it's not" Eddie corrected "it is a reason and they're not my type"

"Not mine either" Buck agrees before chuckling "Not anymore"

Adalynn purses her lips "Oh, is this us finding out you were a man-whore"

Buck rolled his, raising his hand "Alright, alright, save the comments" his attention turns back to Eddie "and I'm talking in general"

"It's complicated when you have a kid" Eddie shrugged taking his gloves off.

Buck tosses his head back "Come on, that's a weak excuse, I'm starting to believe Adalynn here"

Eddie stopped walking as he turned to the man "You live in your invisible girlfriends house, and you're telling me about weak excuses?"

Adalynn snorts, she quickly covers her mouth holding her hand up to Buck "Sorry-" she burst out laughing before she could barely finish her sentence.

Buck looked between the siblings holding his arms out and his mouth open slightly in offense.

Eddie's phone buzzed in his pocket, the man grabbing, a worried expression covering his face which Adalynn quickly noticed.

Eddie stepped away from the pair and answered the phone "hello?" he paused "What?"

Adalynn jogged slightly towards her brother when the next words left his mouth "Which one?" Adalynn's heart dropped at his words, the girl giving him a questioning look.

Adalynn, Eddie, and Buck exit the elevator to the hospital, walking a quick pace, Adalynn's eyes land on her aunt, Eddie informing the man who was trailing behind them.

"Tia" Adalynn called out gaining her aunts attention "Que paso?"

"Is Christopher okay?" Eddie added to the girls question.

Their aunt sighed giving Adalynn a hug and then Eddie "Ah, yes. You mean Prince Charming, hm" She motioned to the young boy.

Adalynn smiled looking at the boy who was talking with two nurses "He's peachy" Their aunt adds

Her expression fell slightly "It's your Abuela, she broke her hip"

Eddie's brows pull together "What, how?"

She shrugged "She was out back on the steps and calling him to come inside. She lost her balance, Christopher called 9-1-1"

Adalynn looked at her aunt "Is she okay now?" her aunt nodded, answering the girl "Yes she is"

"I want to see her" Eddie states but their aunt shook her head "No, she's sleeping now" her attention shifts to the man who was standing by listening to the conversation "And uh, who is this?"

Eddie motioned to the man "This is Buck, we work together"

The older woman hummed "I thought you just dressed alike"

"this is our aunt, Josephina, Pepa" Adalynn introduced "Oh, and his parents don't hate him names not actually Buck"

"Hi" Buck said giving her a smile.

Josephina nods before looking back to her nephew "You can't keep doing this, Eddie. You cannot keep leaving him with her, she's not up to it"

Eddie bit his top lip, his eyes falling closed for a moment "I know, I know, I'm sorry" he takes a breath "I'm trying to find some permanent help, Adalynn's looking for me too, it's just, too many forms to fill out, it's worse than the V.A"

Josephina shook her head "I can't believe your gringa ex stuck you with all of this"

Eddie tilts his head "I'm not stuck, Tia"

She narrows her eyes at the man "Do you have to go back to work?" Eddie's silence answered her questioned "Ah. And you're not stuck" she inhales sharply "I'll keep him tonight, but you need to get this figured out" she said sternly to the man, as is he was a kid getting caught doing something bad.

"Daddy!" Christopher called out in excitement, Eddie smiled before running over to the boy.

Adalynn looked to her aunt "I'm really trying to help him find someone, Tia. But Eddie, he's just so picky when it comes to Chris" She pauses "I understand why but I know our Abuela can't keep up with that boy. I just- I wish I could help him, more then I am"

Adalynn's eyes stay trained on Eddie and Christopher but her attention shifts from her aunts hand on her shoulder "Adalynn, you dropped your life and moved her with him, you don't always need to solve everyone's problems"

The curly haired Diaz girl shakes her head "Why do I feel like I have too" she gnawed on the inside of her cheek before giving her aunt a quick hug "Tell Eddie I'll be outside"

she took a deep breath, passing Buck and heading back towards the elevator, running her hand over her face.

Her aunt sighed, feeling bad for her niece. Josephina turned to the Buckley boy "I don't know how close you are with my Niece but" the older woman paused watching the girl round the corner "Life's not been easy for her, just keep an eye on her for me"

Buck's expression was a mix of confusion and almost worry before he nods "Yeah, yeah, of course"
