Violet finishes tying her tie knot as she makes her way to the Grand Hall, basking in the peaceful silence she always hears every morning since she heads to breakfast at 6:30 instead of 7:30 when breakfast actually begins. Violet has always been an early riser so she had no problem with the early Hogwarts schedule when she first started. But she did mind having to try and maneuver around four other girls in the room and bathroom. And having to practically fight your way to grab the smallest amount of breakfast when your whole house is eating at the same table, all at once. So after dealing with that horrid mess her first year, Violet finally worked out a routine that worked for her- waking up at 6, dressing in her robes shortly after, gathering all her supplies for the days worth of classes, running through her whole day in her head as she does so. She liked to set a specific routine for each day. No surprises, no chaos, no disorder.

As she enters the Grand Hall, she sighs defeatedly at the sight of many people already there. She forgot there is a Quidditch game today. Every day there's a match the teams always grab breakfast early before their extra-early morning practice. She shakes her head, disappointed in herself for knowing better. It's not that she didn't like other students, she knew she wasn't the only one on the grounds, she just would have preferred it that way most of the time.

She heads to her house's table as laughter roars from the other side of the room, causing tenseness throughout her body. She rolls her eyes as she glances over her shoulder to find the loud behavior belonging to the Gryffindor's. Figures. She tries to ignore them as she scoops herself some porridge as one of the elves brings her warm honey-chamomile tea.

"OHHHH!!" The same table yells a few minutes later.

"What's a girl got do to drink her tea in peace around here." She mumbles to herself.

"I told you that wouldn't work, Wormtail!" A boy shouts. "Pay up."

Violet hears someone else behind her grumble some not-so-nice words about the group and she almost found herself agreeing out loud with the person. She sneaks a look to find the complaint belonging to Severus Snape, a Slytherin in her year, with his nose deep in a potions book. She laughs quietly to herself before getting back to her breakfast. She's never had anything against the long, greasy-haired boy, but she wasn't a huge fan because of who he was friends with. She always thought they might have actually been friends if he gave anyone other than a certain someone the time of day, they were neighbors outside of Hogwarts after all. But she was not the Evans family member he was interested in, surprise, surprise.

She shakes away those thoughts and picks up the School's Daily to distract herself for the next twenty minutes before heading back to her quarters as other students begin to stumble their way to the Grand Hall. Her roommates were flailing around getting ready as she entered the room and she avoided arms and jumpers flying as she went straight for her bed to look over her homework for the hundredth time before heading to her first class of the day, arriving early as usual.

Violet sighs as she heads to her last class of the day. She despises game day for many reasons, other than the actual matches which she quite enjoys, because nothing gets done around on quidditch days. Everybody is buzzing with excitement about the game or discussing plays and strategies more than their homework or studies and it annoyed her to no end. Is she the only student who takes Hogwarts seriously and isn't only here to socialize and play games?

"Watch it, Ravenclaw." A couple of Slytherins shove past her as they pull out their cigarettes and lighters as they enter the bathrooms.

Guess so.

But this year is more important than any year so far at Hogwarts. This was the year that the students take their OWLS. Violet wants to pick at her nails just thinking about them. She's been stressed over them since second year, when she found out about the standardized test way too early for her own good. To others the OWLS seem like any other silly test they have to take, no big deal. To her- it's everything. It's her ticket out of her house once she graduates Hogwarts. It's her chance to start her life once she's done with school. It's the opportunity to discover your true calling and find your purpose in life. And it's also Violet's chance to prove to herself that all her hard work has paid off.

So she didn't care if the other students wasted their time partying away in the common rooms or practicing for a sport that most of them only have a small percent chance of actually going pro for. Academics is where she shined.

Which is exactly why she hated Flying, her last class of the day. It was not a book she could read or a sheet she could study. It was some stupid stick that she had to perform tricks on and she hated it.

"Ugh, why are we stuck with Ravenclaws for this class again?" The annoying, arrogant voice that belonged to Gryffindor Sirius Black shrills out into the fresh air that Violet was enjoying.

She rolls her eyes, biting her tongue as she always does anytime she hears a conversation or a comment that wasn't hers to divulge in. Although she herself enjoys classes and reading, she's come to strongly despise the Ravenclaw stereotype that that's the only thing they're good for.

And why must annoying Gryffindor pricks be in this class with Ravenclaw's, she wanted to say. She's wanted to say a lot to Sirius Black over the past several years, but she never did. Not that he would probably even hear it or acknowledge her, little long know who she was. That could be all the more reason to say something. With her lack of reputation she could probably get away with a lot. But she prefers her wits through paper instead, so she keeps to herself, and says nothing.

After a rather humiliating Flying lesson of her falling off her broom three times, Violet swiftly meets with one of her only two close friends, and they slowly walk to the Ravenclaw common room, under the radar.

"I'm sure it wasn't that bad." Nova laughs amusedly.

"Trust me, it was." I tell her, turning to her blonde waves. "What am I gonna do without you next year?" I ask, already dreading her leaving Hogwarts without me. I tried to see if I could take the OWLS sooner and finish a couple years early. The answer was no.

Nova loops her arm through mine. "You'll have that cute little fairy looking girl." She refers to Pandora, the sweetest person in the world. She's a Ravenclaw in my year, thankfully not older and in a completely different house.

"That's true." I nod slowly. "But I'll still miss you."

She gives me her mischievous grin I've grown so fond of. "Don't worry, darling, I'm afraid you're stuck with me, even after Hogwarts." Her nose scrunches playfully. "You have to at least attend my wedding, then you may be rid of me." She widens her eyes dramatically.

I laugh at her antics, shaking my head "I still can't believe you have to marry your cousin." I am still weirded out by that of which is supposedly normal here in the wizarding world. In the muggle word people would faint hearing such a thing. Almost every family with a "name" in the wizarding world is related in some way or another.

"Yes, but he is gorgeous." She sighs happily, completely accustomed and unbothered to the Black family tradition that is to keep their bloodline pure. Is that not the most bizarre sentence ever? I could never imagine marrying any cousin of mine. Then again none of them look like Arietis Black.

"Mhm, you're right. Far more appealing than your other cousins." I add, my tone bitter.

Nova clicks her tongue. "Ah, Sirius." She hums. "Just ignore him. I always do." She lets out an amusing chuckle. "I was almost paired with him before Arietis came forward, thank heavens."

"Thank heavens indeed." I agree, stopping outside of the Ravenclaw entryway. What an awful fate that would be.

"See you later then?" Nova raises her eyebrows excitedly.

"Ah, yes, quidditch awaits." I tilt my head to the side, bidding her goodbye for now before heading off to my room to get in some homework before the match later on this afternoon.

Today's match is the first of the season between Slytherin and Gryffindor, so it's definitely going to be a great one, I can't wait to review it. I've been writing for the "Hogwarts Daily Dose" since last year and I've loved ever moment of it. I may hate riding a broom, but I quite enjoy watching quidditch. There's nothing like it, it's far more lively and fun than football or rugby.

Today I have a feeling it's gonna be a wild one...
