Chapter Two: Wounded, Let Down

The Dark Fey flew as fast as she could, as far as she could.

Naturally, she's shot down without a clue to what the plan of that Queen's really was.

She knew right away what this burning sensation was.

Agonizing and excruciating as it was, the iron had pierced her flesh fairly deep.

So much so, she felt her energy deplete in the matter of moments.

Her dark form plummeting into the depths of the sea, unseen, unheard, gone with no one to look for her.

No one had a clue she was being targeted. It was too subtle for all except her. Maleficent hated Queen Ingrith but not yet enough to kill her, to end her life...not yet.

All around her was cold and dark...but she wasn't afraid...

She did not wake up until awhile later, to find herself in an unknown territory with pain piercing her side.

Although bandaged and bullet-less now...she could still feel where the bullet had penetrated through, it brought her no happiness.

Only grief.

But she moved forth, wanting to know where she was brought...and by who.

Her hair framed her face, it felt odd to have her hair loose from the snake skin that, for so long, had hid her hair.

She had nearly forgotten how soft and beautiful it was to her. But that was the least of her thoughts to pay attention to.

Experiencing great levels of pain, she still moved on, standing on her two feet.

The pain will fade soon, she knew this, but her heart was a different matter.

She knew the pain too well and pushed her thoughts aside, aside from anymore deeper analysis on what had just gone on with her companions.

But the Dark Fey could not rid herself of the hate that festered in her heart toward the Queen.

A flash of memory wiped through her mind.

Maleficent's fleeting moments, escaping from that wretched woman who called herself Queen, only ruling her subjects with fear.

She hated the fey, every thing about her said so. And all for greed just like Stefan.

She wanted Maleficent's land as much as the very lives of both her and the fairies.

Maleficent took steps and stumbled soon after.

As always, her wings were there to support her just in time, saving her from a close fall.

Wings that were her own, wrapped around her pale and fragile body.

Her wings shielded her from the uncomfortable thought of her current state of apparel, which indeed was almost all bandages due to her severe wound.

As she ventured through a white burrow-like structure, all she thought, concerning it, was of its similarity to a fowl's nest.

The tunnel led down after a short while as echoed voices were heard through Maleficent's ears.

For the first time, alone, she felt hesitant. But not enough to overpower her curiosity in knowing who those voices belonged to.

A few more steps and she appeared at the edge of a tunnel leading straight down.

She went down, stumbling, even hitting the sides a few times before finally landing.

She knew one thing...she felt more vulnerable to herself the more she was here.

She was unsure about the feeling lingering near, worried it would touch too close to home for her.

Still she went on, getting up steadily with her wings to aid her.

And now she could properly hear the voices in which once echoed in her ears as just murmurs.

She could hear a voice as strong as the wind itself. She could hear the rage, determination, and most of all the boastfulness in a male's voice.

The voice may have been slightly overpowering for her.

She headed toward the direction of the commotion anyway.

She wanted to discover who these creatures were.

And to her surprise they were just like her.

Horns and wings of different shapes and colors.

She didn't know what to think. So she only watched without saying a word.

"Do you hear it!! This is what they've come to! And for what?! To kill us off!! Conall! We must fight! Look what they did to her! Shot her with an iron bullet while her back was turned!! They are like cockroaches who bite back only during the time of their enemies slumber!! We must fight I say!"

"There has to be another way! We are out numbered, we can not win like this if we began war with them! We could wage peace instead of war! Find a way to live amongst the humans!!"

"You know what they've done to her! Why hesitant and resist? Why not ward those pesky humans off their land?! After all that's what they've done to us!! They even could've killed her! Our only chance to survive as Dark Fey is to fight!! They didn't except her did they? We didn't expect this, a true dark Phoenix. We defend and fight for our kind's survival!! And we will live once more and roam free as we once did!!"

The dessert Fey stood strong to his words, not backing down to any other opinions or ideas contrary to his.

He believed what he said and stuck to what he said. He would not be swayed by his comrade's peace treaty.

The strong male turned to see the one he spoke of, Maleficent.

He did not know her name yet but he knew she'd be the one to finally free them. He knew she'd be the key to their slowly dying species.

She was the answer they needed as Dark Fey.

Even if she did not know herself. If she had no clue to what she truly was.

Like a rabid beast he flew to her, giving little to no personal space.

Maleficent, without a doubt, felt very uncomfortable around him.

She wanted so much as to warn him to step back but nothing, no words, came forth.

Only silence.

"You reek of human. Maybe I should of thought differently of you. But I do see it, your power is within you. But you like the humans...you should've been left in the depths of the sea to drown!"

Anger rose in her. Anger she did not wish to contain any longer.

The only human she ever loved was Aurora and somehow she felt offended by the words of this particular Fey.

She's been blamed and accused of cursing a king. Her own daughter taken from her by a wretched queen she dares not name. She's been shot with an iron bullet and now being wished to have been left to die.

And to finish things off this brute of a male was indirectly insulting both Aurora and her.

Maybe she did deserve as much for being a quote on quote 'monster' but she wasn't...she didn't deserve to be slandered and pried with.

She did nothing wrong except trust the humans. She trusted a man she thought she loved, who burned and tore her wings off.

In turn she had cursed his daughter as an infant to someday sleep for eternity just because her hate for him had grown so deep.

She would not lie, she had still loved him but her broken heart had had enough of his coldness.

He desired his fame and riches more than anything, so much he'd even throw away his own daughter and queen.

So she gave up on him and in the end nothing changed.

She still felt alone as ever. Even with Aurora and Diaval by her side. Something was still lost.

And through all of this going through her mind a mile-a-minute she had blasted the brute of a Fey with her magic which coursed through her hand.

She still said nothing. She only kept her guard up, making sure it did not falter.

After blasting the Fey named Borra, he got up with little to no effort.

"See! She has the power to save us! That is why we should fight! When the time is right we will rise up and take back our lands we once lived upon!"

After he said that they all left except one.

He was a bit too fickle for her. One moment he's insulting her and the next he's almost praising her.

It was like he didn't like her herself but the power that resided in her.

He's behavior slightly confused and bothered her.

So it was obvious that she felt relieved when that savage had left. But the one who stayed, she didn't mind.

He was the one who wanted peace. The Fey who had saved Maleficent from certain death.

Conall.

To Maleficent, her impression of Conall was different.

He wasn't a brute-savage like Borra was, he was calm and collected. Only spoke when necessary.

He, unlike many of his kind who lived in the cave, wanted peace instead of a war.

But she couldn't whole heartily agree, not when that Queen was still alive in Ulstead.
