The Longbottom's

They had an hour left before leaving Hogwarts the last time as students and Dumbledore had called them all to his office. Alice had scolded them because she thought the Marauders had pulled a last minute prank or something, but she was pleasantly surprised that wasn't the case.

"I would like to speak to you all as adults regarding your future. Something some of your parents are involved in called the Order of the Phoenix, has room for more members."

Dumbledore paused speaking to gauge their responses. He was surprised when nobody moved a muscle.

"Therefore, you all have been asked to join. You are not obligated to join, obviously, but this must be kept a secret for the sake of the organization."

James furrowed his eyebrows out of stress. He would like to join more than anything, but he wanted to keep holding a grudge against Dumbles for taking Lily away from them.

"What about Lily?" Mary spoke up for the group.

"I went to the safe house earlier and saw her-"

"You saw her?" James interrupted.

"Yes I did, Mr Potter. She gave me this letter for you actually."

Dear James,

By now you've heard of the Order and all that Dumbles has to say about that. I accepted a role, of course, I decided healing can wait until later.

It might sound insane, wanting to join an organization that has locked me away for a month plus, but I want to be involved in the war. This has given me the opportunity to really make a difference.

In regards to the war, I have realized how close it actually is, so I have a question. Could you please speed up the whole making me Mrs Potter? I know I said that I didn't want to get married for a while, but I've done some thinking and why the hell not? Inside the envelope is my mum's engagement ring because I don't want you to burn a hole in your pocket picking one out for me. (This is with the assumption that you still want to marry me.)

I miss you so, so, so much! Tell the others that I was going to write them each a letter, but ole Doodles was on a time crunch.

Love you to the moon and to Saturn,
Lily xx

James knew two things by the end of that letter.
1. He was going to join the Order.
2. He was going to get married soon.

...

Dear Mr. Black,

I ask of you that you do not share any of the information I have enclosed in this letter with anyone. Absolutely no exceptions!

Your cousin, Andromeda Tonks, is the escort for people to and from the Order Safe House. Her daughter, Nymphadora Tonks, helps out sometimes as she is very good at calming people down. I would like for you to accompany them to the Order Safe House because not only are you an Order member, but you're also a close friend of Miss Evans. That is who they are escorting.

Mrs. Tonks and Nymphadora will be helping Miss Evans get ready for Miss Fortescue's wedding that will be happening later today. They have the bridesmaid dress she will be wearing and details of how exactly to do her makeup/hair. I hope I can trust that you will also wear your wedding attire to the safe house as you will be apparating directly to the church.

Immediately after receiving this letter I need you to apparate to your cousins house! We wouldn't want to stall Miss Fortescue's wedding!

Your favorite professor,
Minerva McGonagall

Sirius practically had a heart attack reading the letter sent by Minnie. Reading the words twice over, it finally sunk in that he was going to apparate over to Meda's house and help her collect Lily before the wedding. On a time crunch, he stumbled down the steps and nearly ran into Euphemia and James.

"I've forgotten my aftershave, James! I'll be right back!" Sirius shouted as he ran out the door and apparated away.

"Aftershave? Why the hell does he need aftershave right now?" James furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"It's Padfoot, don't question it," Remus retorted. "Besides, Frank will kill us if we don't go to the church now."

The Marauders had been enlisted to be Frank's entourage as he hadn't had many close friends from Hogwarts. Marcus McKinnon, whom he met through becoming an auror, was his best man.

"We'll have to leave Sirius and his aftershave behind then," James rolled his eyes.

...

It didn't take much for Sirius to arrive at the small cottage the Tonks family called home. He had been there a few times before during the summer, but he had never been nearly this excited. He was going to see Lily!

James was going to be stoked. Sirius wouldn't be surprised if the two snogged in front of everyone at the wedding.

"Meda! Funny seeing you here!" Sirius cheerily spoke as he stepped in the house.

"Sirius! I see you're happy!" Meda hugged him tightly as she laughed slightly.

"I'm going to see one of my best friends for the first time in a month! Of course I'm happy!"

"We really should be going then," Meda replied with urgency. "Nymphadora! C'mon, we've got to go!"

"Don't call me, Nymphadora!" Tonks replied as her hair turned a shade of red.

They connected hands and Meda turned on the spot, allowing them to apparate directly to the Burrow.

...

Sirius had never been one to dress up much, but it was an extremely special occasion, so he regretfully had to ditch the leather jacket. That might've been the first thing Lily had noticed about him. Nearly nothing else had changed; same long hair and the same maniacal grin etched permanently onto his face.

She watched him talk to Arthur and the boys stealthily from the top of the staircase, where she was supposed to be practicing walking in heels. He looked so happy, she couldn't wait to converse with him on the way to the wedding.

"Oi! Quit staring at my cousin and start walking again!" Tonks giggled as the older girl rolled her eyes playfully.

"Why don't you go play with Charlie? He's been very bored lately," Lily suggested, trying to get the girl off her back.

Tonks was great fun to be around, but Lily just wanted to sit down for a moment and rest her already throbbing ankles. She could tell she was going to ditch the heels as soon as she stepped into the reception.

"You're just trying to distract me! It won't work!" Tonks stuck out her tongue.

Andromeda walked out of Lily's bedroom carrying her newly packed suitcase and Molly followed with her arms around Elvie.

"It's time to go if you want to be on time! You're pushing the limits a bit too much right now for me to be comfortable." Andromeda explained with a slight tone of worry.

"What will we do about Elvie?" Lily responded, knowing full well that she wasn't going to be able to take a cat to the wedding.

"I'll apparate him over to Potter Manor with your stuff after you leave with Sirius. Euphemia and I have got it all set up," Andromeda smiled softly.

"Alright! It really is time to go then!" Lily spoke excitedly.

She walked down the stairs, carrying her long pink bridesmaid dress above her feet. She didn't want to trip. Tonks followed quickly behind, choosing to jump from step to step, even if she was terribly clumsy.

As Lily walked into the Weasley kitchen, Sirius whistled, making her blush under her makeup. Courtesy of Molly and Andromeda, she was completely dolled up, feeling absolutely one of a kind.

"You're going to give James a heart attack!" Sirius near shouted as Lily pulled him into a hug.

"Merlin, I've missed you," she said, blinking back the tears because she just couldn't ruin the perfectly done mascara.

"I've missed you too, Red."

Lily gave many more hugs to all of the Weasley clan, accompanied with thank yous to Molly and Arthur regarding hospitality.

"You ready to rock 'n' roll, Evans?" Sirius flashed his signature grin.

"You know it, Black." Lily grinned back.

...

Lily did tell them the show must go on, so go on it did. The girls, including Michelle, helped Alice slip into her wedding gown. It was the same one her mum had worn, but tailored to Alice's taste. With a lace bodice and a cinched waste, the pure white dress screamed Alice.

Michelle had the honour of being maid of honour, which meant her dress was a slightly different shade of pink than the other girls. It made her stand out a bit more as her role was regarded as more important.

Mary and Marlene's dress were identical to Lily's down to the last piece of fabric. Alice wanted them all to match and, of course, the girls happily obliged.

Frank had a bit of a more difficult time choosing an entourage. He did have friends during his time at Hogwarts, but after leaving they didn't stay in touch. So, it made the options more scarce.

He did happen meet Marcus McKinnon at auror training and became fast friends with him. This made him the Best Man. As much as Marcus would've taken the job on, he wouldn't have been able to handle being the only guy helping Frank out.

Naturally, the Marauders stood up to plate and were ready to bat when the ball came near. James and Remus were currently helping Marcus help Frank not freak out. Peter was outside the church, sweating in his suit, waiting for Sirius to make his arrival.

Peter was about to send Sirius a patronus message demanding he find the damn aftershave and leave when the said bloke apparated right in front of him. Peter nearly shat himself.

There Sirius and Lily were standing right in front of him arguing about something—just as they always did—taking Peter completely by surprise.

"Lily? How did you get here?" Peter asked in confusion.

"Pure determination not to miss the fucking wedding. Oh, and Sirius helped a bit," Lily smiled widely, before giving Peter a short hug and running into the church.

She ran straight into what she guessed would be the bridesmaid room as she could hear Marlene shouting about something. The shouting abruptly stopped when Lily made her entrance.

Alice was the first to run to Lily and pull her into a huge hug as she had always been the first to hug in any situation.

"Don't cry, Alice! You'll ruin your beautiful makeup!" Lily said when she heard Alice start to sniffle.

"I'm just so happy that you're here!"

Meanwhile, Sirius and Peter burst through the groomsmen door, laughing hysterically. This was never a good sign as it usually meant they were up to no good.

"Why do you look like a mad maniac?" Remus questioned Sirius.

"Don't I always look like a mad maniac?" Sirius retorted.

"He's got a point, you know," James rolled his eyes at his best mate's untimely arrival.

"I swear if you let a bunch of chickens loose or something..." Frank held a bit of fear in his eyes.

"Relax, Longbottom! I did nothing of the sort!"

With the final touches done, Alice's mum walked over to the groomsmen door with a proud gleam in her eye. Her youngest daughter was about to get married! It was a happy day for everyone.

"Everything is set! Frank and Marcus, you're needed at the end of the aisle!" She spoke authoritatively, before turning around and leaving to go find her seat.

Peter didn't have anyone to escort so he also made his way to the front of the church. Remus was first to leave after them the room to escort Mary down the aisle after the flower girl threw the petals from her wooden basket.

"Wait! Sirius! I'm going to look stupid escorting myself down the aisle!" James spoke up before Sirius could leave.

"Just c'mere ya big prat!" Sirius shoved him out of the doorway to see Marlene, Michelle, Alice, Lily standing next to each other.

As cliche as it sounded, James's jaw literally dropped to the floor. Not only was Lily standing in front of him, but she was so fucking gorgeous. He didn't know how else to explain without swearing.

"I would snog you right now, but we need to get down the bloody aisle," Lily spoke bluntly.

"Well then, let's go," James grinned the widest he had for what felt like a long time.

...

Just as Lily suspected, she took her shoes off as soon as she walked into the reception. Setting them down at their designated table, before joining her friends already out on the dance floor.

Alice and Frank had already danced the traditional first dance along to the whoops of the crowd. The dance floor was quickly occupied with everyone in attendance after that.

Dancing through the night, they all witnessed Alice and Frank cut the cake. After which Alice promptly smashed into his face. Wifely duties, ya know?

Before they knew it, Alice was throwing her bouquet of flowers. Who else would catch it except Lily Evans?

"You caught the bouquet! We must really be meant to be then," James said to Lily as she bounced over to him.

"Did you get my letter?" She asked, brushing her hair out of her face.

"Sure did," James winked, before leaning down to kiss his girlfriend.

"They'll be engaged within a week," Marlene wagered to Sirius as they watched Lily and James interact.

"We should open a gambling pool for that," he promptly responded.
