More Than Enough

A/N: This chapter is going to make many people, very ecstatic. Side note: James' handwriting is in bold, Remus' is in italics, and Lily's is also in italics.

Something was wrong, well more than what was usually wrong. Lily could sense it in the way the Marauders were hunched in together like a football team getting ready for the last play of the game, the play that decides who wins. She did not like it, so naturally, she investigated.

They sat in the Great Hall for a breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon, and assorted drinks. While everyone chattered around her, Lily stared at the Marauders because not one of them had looked up from a paper they had been holding in the middle of the table. Of course, she could not see what it said because Sirius was holding his arm over it.

Lily made eye contact with Alice, who had also zoned out of Mary and Marlene's conversation about the best countries to visit over a holiday, and pointed ever so slightly in the Marauders direction.

They looked over in unison to find that the Marauders had all been staring directly at Lily, which was a bit creepy if she had to be honest. Yet, seeing Sirius with worry lines was the freakier thing.

"I'm not going to get involved in whatever this is because it's probably potentially illegal," she said to the group of them.

"We don't need Lily, we need Doe," Sirius stated after which Remus smacked his forehead and James went red in the face.

"Who's Doe?" She raised an eyebrow.

Marlene and Mary had long abandoned their conversation for this much more exciting one filled to the brim with the perfect balance of confusion and suspense.

"Well, technically it's your unofficial Marauder name, but Doe thinks in a way around the rules whereas, Lily thinks how not to break them," Sirius answered.

"I'm not going to question it anymore. Anyway, what do you need my help with, and why are you acting so sketchy?" She asked with a raised brow.

"We can talk about it so out in the open like this since we all have Charms together, we'll collaborate then," Remus said.

"But, read this paper in the meantime," James handed over the paper Sirius had been hiding, and with a few salutes, the Marauders were off the embark on an unknown mission.

"Anyone else think they're acting weirder than normal?" Marlene asked, but Lily wasn't listening for she was already reading the paper.

Problems with Rebecca Cortell being a Werewolf:

It was written in Remus' easy to read handwriting as it was done with much precision, almost like they were planning the biggest prank in their careers. Yet, there was more on the line this time, including their future.

1. She's a werewolf
2. You're all illegal animagi
3. Everything

It might not have been the most specific list, but Lily got the point.

Main Questions:
1. Is Rebecca Cortell trustworthy?
2. If we showed Cortell how them being animagi could help her, would she shut her mouth?
3. Why the fuck did this have to happen?

...

She walked into the Charms classroom with a shaking hand, bag slung over her shoulder, and a tie in her hand. Yet, she still had the energy to scoot Sirius out of the seat next to James so she could sit there.

"Okay, yesterday everything was fine, but today we're dealing with a crisis as big as Elizabeth's mascara collection. What the fuck happened?" She whispered as Flitwick lectured them on their poorly written essays... again.

"Moony, after patrols, said that Dumbles summoned him to his office and told him about Rebecca. What do we do, Lily-flower?" He asked grabbing crumbled parchment to write his notes on.

"First off, is that the only parchment you have?"

"Yes?"

"Use this," she handed him some parchment while grabbing her own.

"Thanks."

"Sure, anyways... Second, you should probably just continue business as usual. You've mentioned before how Remus doesn't really remember what happens, right?" She said.

While talking, she got distracted and wrote Lily Potter instead of Lily Evans on the top of her notes and when she noticed she went beat red, James had noticed too, but just smiled and acted as nothing else had happened.

"Right."

"Well, technically that means Rebecca won't remember anything either after she turns. So, you just have to get your timing correct."

Charms that will be tested on N.E.W.T.S:
Diffindo
Evanesco
Protego
My Potter Charm

James leaned over and added the last one onto her list. She figured it out after trying and succeeding to read Marlene's lips, (I don't want to take NEWT classes!), and promptly flipped him off.

"These are my fucking notes, Potter! Use your own parchment!" She tried to reprimand him, but her smile and laugh gave her away.

"Anyway, what do you mean by getting your timing correct?" He asked, actually writing the notes down.

"Well, wait to turn into animagi until after she is mostly turned. You don't want to wait until they're both fully turned because then you would die."

Start to study two months before N.E.W.T.S.

"Oh, well that's reassuring."

Homework had always been tedious for Lily to complete, so here she was, in the library having been dragged by Alice.

She was staring in front of her, wishing time to pass more like a rabbit than a slug, but then she spotted a messy-haired Hufflepuff, who would prove to be fun to talk to.

"Craig! Craig! Over here!" Lily waved him down towards her and Alice's table despite Madam Pince's glares and her friend's confusion, as the latter had never met Craig.

"Hey, Lily! How've you been?" He greeted her with a smile and sat down across her, consequently next to Alice.

"Good, good. Just trying to finish this damn transfiguration essay," she added offhandedly.

"How relatable," he turned to Alice and stuck out a hand for her to shake. "Craig Geyer, nice to meet you."

"Alice Fortescue," she smiled back.

Madam Pince happened to be rather tired and grumpy and the smiling students were worsening her mood, so she sent them out into the corridor far away from the darkening library. Yet, if it wasn't for her, what happened next would've been far put off.

"So, Craig are you having fun at Hogwarts?" Alice said trying to make light conversation as the atmosphere around them had shifted.

"Let me tell you something, being here at Hogwarts is just so freeing. It has really allowed me to discover parts of myself I hadn't known existed while living at my aunt's house."

Craig realized it could've sounded cheesy, but that is truly the way he felt. Being trapped in his aunt's house was not terrible, but sometimes he found it suffocating. He noticed that parts of him he hadn't told his aunt about, such as his sexuality, had blossomed under a new environment, finding people who supported and loved him for the way he was.

"Well, that's good-" Alice began before she was cut off by Lily shushing her.

"Shush!" Lily said searching again for the pained voice she had heard earlier.

"Rude," Alice said.

"Shhh!" Lily tried to shush them again, which worked this time as she saw two shadows approaching, one took shape smaller than the other, but she recognized the two voices like she recognized her own.

"I don't think I'll ever be enough for her, Annie. As much as I try not to be, there will always be a part of me that is an egotistical jerk. "

It hurt her deeply to hear James talk about himself like that, which she partly blamed herself for since she had been holding back from a relationship with him for multiple reasons. Those reasons did not hold anything over her at that moment and they never would again.

Before Alice and Craig could complain about being shushed again, Lily ran around the corridor corner to see James and Annie's starstruck faces.

"Lily-"

It was all pining and anticipation and freshly blossomed flowers and Honeyduke's chocolate eaten past its expiration date. It was all exploded dung bombs and abandoned corridors and late nights in corridors. It was all chapped lips and defeated awkwardness and eliminated sexual tension. It was all perfectly Lily and James. The kiss was simply them.

"Hello, there is a minor present!" Annie said having been forgotten in perhaps the best moment of James' life.

"Sorry about that, Annie," Lily replied sheepishly with a deep flush on her pale cheeks.

Alice and Craig were still standing where they had stopped to see them kiss with their jaws dropped because impulsiveness had never looked so good on Lily.

"So, this is the James Potter bloke the whole school has been talking about. They're not wrong about his looks," Craig added offhandedly making Alice snort.

"Marlene is going to be so mad she missed this. Best homework trip ever." Alice smirked at the two.

"What does this mean, Evans?" James whispered into her ear.

"I think you know what it means, Potter," she said softly. "Would you like to attend the next Hogsmeade trip with me?" She asked for the rest of them to hear.

"I'd be an idiot to turn you down."

"Oh, Sirius is going to love this," Annie said sprinting down the corridor the way she had come from towards the Gryffindor common room.

"Oi! Get back here!" James shouted, running right after her.

"What a great way to end my day. Well, good night everyone, I'm off to the kitchens," Craig said smiling as he left and turned right down a staircase.

"How does he know how to get into the kitchens?" Alice said as they too headed towards the common room.

"He's a Hufflepuff, they all probably know how to get into the kitchens."

...

It didn't take long for Annie to reach the common room as she knew her way around the school quite well.

"Sirius! Sirius!" She panted while standing in the middle of the room.

"What is it, Annie?" He asked playing his next chess piece.

"James!"

"What's wrong with him?" Sirius asked while Marlene placed her next chess piece.

"You didn't want to do that, McKinnon," Remus warned half-heartedly.

"Lily's just kissed him!" She announced at the same time James finally made it to the common room.

"No way!"

September 30, 1977

Things had yet to cool down from Lily and James finally getting together, but the Marauders had to deal with what could possibly become a major problem if they did not get it right the first time.

A few hours ago, Remus and Rebecca had met Madam Pomfrey in the hospital wing and like Remus had been doing for years, they immobilized the whomping willow to get into the Shrieking Shack.

James, Sirius, and Peter had all bid their good-byes to the girls for the night and headed down the same path as Remus without anything in their way.

Full moons were always tough for the boys to go through, especially Remus, but seeing your friend go through an immense amount of pain every month took its toll. With nearly two years of experience, the Marauders still had yet to perfect their moon routine as they had called it, and part of them did not want to perfect it because they believed out there was a cure waiting to be discovered for Remus.

Yet, everything had changed as they watched Rebecca and Remus change from behind a cracked door. Noses turned to snouts, a head full of hair turned to a body full of hair, scarred arms turned to scarred limbs and humans turned to wolves.

Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs had made their debut to their newest member of the full moon clan, Furball.

...

It went successfully. Yet, they had to leave earlier than usual because Rebecca was there, but they knew it was for the best.

James returned to the Heads' common room to find Lily had waited up for him on one of two red couches, a book, a cup of tea, and bloodshot eyes.

"Merlin, Lily-flower! Why did you wait up for me?" James asked sitting down across from her.

"What a stupid question. How did it go? Are you hurt? Are you injured?" Her worries came spouting from her mouth as the sun rose.

"I've got a nasty cut on my calf, but-"

"Roll up your pants," it was not a request, but a demand, that James obliged to follow.

"Fine," he gritted his teeth for he was waiting for her reaction.

"That is far more than just a fucking cut, James!" She near shouted which led to him shushing her.

"I knew you would react that way," he said the fire illuminating his hazel eyes.

"Well, I'm usually a predictable person."

"Except for the past twenty-four hours."

"Oh hush."

Author's Note:

Didn't I tell you that it was a good chapter?

I've low key fallen in love with Dodie since the last time I published a chapter...

I've also dedicated this chapter to a few friends:

agentbot08 because she routinely blows up my notifs with random shit that I love. Also, her snaps are very amusing and she's just a great friend overall.

TheAmazingMaddy because she offers help anytime I need it in the Kik gc and her Girl Scout stories are really amusing.

Galaxyblackbird because she also helps blow up my notifs and she's a very, very nice person.

arnoldthe-pygmypuff because she said awhile ago that if Jily wasn't together by the end of September I'd be added to her list.

Lmao anyways thanks for reading
