Daily Outings

July brought another month of summer and more heat. The eight friends were practically melting under the hot summer sun. Each one of them would prefer to drench themselves in water than be outside for more than fifteen minutes at a time.

...

Remus had just experienced a full moon alone, there were scratches all over his body, leaving him feeling weak, vulnerable, and rather sore. Although all he wanted to do was sit around the house, nursing the scratches that would surely become scars at this rate and avoid all the stares, he was going to meet up with Mary.

In multiple letters, they had agreed he would go to the grocery store, at which she worked, and wait until the end of her shift arrived. Then, they would proceed to walk around and go into a coffee shop nearby.

He had arrived at the grocery store when Mary had ten minutes later of her shift. Remus watched as she bagged and scanned an old man's goods with what he could tell was a fake smile.

She still looked beautiful though. Her lilac and pink highlights had washed out leaving her dark brown hair natural. The sun seemed to bleach the top of her head making her hair color lighter than usual. He smirked when she shoved the register a little harder than she needed to and began to become frustrated with everything around her.

When she finally walked over to him, she smiled softly and they headed out the doors quietly.

Mary's work uniform consisted of a white collared shirt that had one button on the top and a small blue logo over the left breast. She had worn denim shorts that reached her mid-thigh and black sneakers. Remus wore a plain grey shirt and black shorts.

"How was your day at work?" Mary sighed and kicked a rock further down the sidewalk.

"So damn boring. Bagging other people's groceries is not all that it's chalked up to be, y'know. I wish Lily was here to give me one of her cigarettes."

"I didn't know you smoked." She looked up at him and brought back her soft smile.

"I don't usually, I'm like Lily, only in a stressful situation. I haven't seen her carry around as many any more though."

"Well, instead of smoking you could just make a game out of it." Remus suggested shrugging his shoulders.

"A game?"

"Yeah, a game. Like place bets with yourself for how long you think it'll take for someone to buy the next gallon of milk or how long it'll take for the person to check out."

"I see why you're a Marauder." This remark made him narrow his eyes.

"What do ya mean by that?"

"Nothing bad of course, but the four of you always seem to find a positive outlook on something or a way to make ourselves laugh. I don't understand how some people say you're less of a Marauder because you don't get yourself in trouble, you just work behind the scenes."

"Thanks, I guess."

"Anytime Lupin, anytime."

For the first time in what Remus thought was forever, he felt romantic feelings toward a person. Weird right?

...

Alice was woken up abruptly by her yellow curtains being magically swung open and the sound of high heels clicking on the ground. Her mum didn't wear high heels, but her older sister Michelle did.

Michelle wasn't very much like Alice. She was in Ravenclaw and as a kid, she would read books over playing with barbies. You could never describe her as a tomboy or a girly girl, she was somewhere in between.

Currently, her outfit was a blue pencil skirt, with a matching blue suit jacket and a plain white shirt. Her glasses were narrow, rectangularly-framed and sat on the tip of her nose. To top off the outfit she wore jet black heels and a large diamond engagement ring, not to mention the fact that she is six months pregnant.

Alice wasn't sure how she did it. Michelle was planning a wedding while pregnant in heels. The amount of stress that caused Alice just thinking about it was astronomical.

Now, Alice would admit that she loved how different she and her sister were, yet when she was younger it was a real problem. Michelle would try to get her to read Shakespeare plays with her, but Alice wanted to go outside and pick wildflowers.

"Alice, I need you to wake up so we can go out bridesmaid dress shopping. Make sure to wear something that's easy to put on and take off."

With that, Michelle walked out of her sister's room, a small grin on her face at the groan from Alice and the bedhead that clung to itself.

...

Darwin was a good father. He had raised four kids with good beliefs about the world and had done so with a good heart. His wife stood by him in everything he did and said because he thought through everything before he went through with it. Darwin McKinnon was a very rational person.

This is why he didn't understand quite Marlene. She was impulsive, sometimes to the point where she could hurt someone's feelings by her bluntness, a true Gryffindor. Darwin never fully understood why she couldn't just take a step back and think about her actions before they happened, but her impulsiveness was engrained deeply into her personality.

So, when he heard that she had been mad at the boys for telling Eve about her boyfriend, he couldn't understand. Why was she reluctant to tell her family something that important? Taking a chance, he knocked on her bedroom door.

There was a gruff reply- "come in"- which took him off guard, Marlene wasn't very harsh ever with him.

"Marly? I just want to understand what is so bad about this, I mean we've met the bloke before, haven't we?" Marlene sighed at her father's true, well thought out words, she could tell he didn't want to start anything.

"I know, it's just that, well I don't really know what I'm worried about, to be honest. I mean, I really like him, dad," she looked directly into her dad's blue eyes, which she had inherited. "Being in a relationship changes things. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, with Grandad and all."

He knew exactly what she was talking about. Being a pure-blooded Slytherin without believing in blood purity was no easy feat. People constantly stereotyped all Slytherins as being on the wrong side of things, especially pure-blooded ones.

Eve's father did not like the idea of her going out with one. She was a half-blood Gryffindor, who had strong beliefs against blood purity. It took him years, even after they were married to convince him that he wasn't bad news.

"We love Sirius and the Potter family, you know that Marls, and besides I'm nothing like your Grandad was." He sat on her bed next to her. "Sure, I don't like the fact you're going out with him, but that's how it would be with anyone! My baby girl is growing up!" Marlene just scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Yes, I know, I know, there's nothing about you that makes you a baby," he squeezed her cheek slightly which made her grin widen. "My badass Gryffindor beater that is going to let Slytherin win this year." Darwin may have raised three Gryffindors, but he still loved his house and he managed to raise one Slytherin.

"Nope, Potter would kill me and I didn't know, you knew, how to swear Dad. You could've at least taught me a few words before I went to Hogwarts!" Darwin rolled his eyes.

"Your mother also wanted me to tell you that she is going straight over to the Potter household today and to be ready for a shopping day when she gets back!"

Darwin chuckled when he left the room and heard a rather colorful string of curse words, he didn't need to teach her anything.

...

James and Sirius were woken up far too early for their liking on a summer day. Fleamont had warned them the previous night it would be an early morning, but just like every other time they didn't listen.

So, sleepily they made their way grabbing a random pair of shorts and a t-shirt. Fifteen minutes before they were due to leave the two friends traipsed down the stairs.

Euphemia sighed at the sight of her son's hair. Sticking up in every direction, the back seemed more messy than usual. Why didn't he use his father's hair potion?

"James, you really need to do something with that hair of yours. It seems to get messier every day!"

"Really Mum? My hair is what you're worried about? There is a whole damn war going outside and-" James started to rant irritably before Sirius cut him off.

"Where are we going? I need to know if I have to make up a stupid excuse to skip."

"Neither of you is skipping whether you like it or not," she paused for a moment to hear their groans of protest. "We are going to St. Mungo's to help the injured. It'll be eye-opening for you and perhaps you'll see some familiar faces."

...

Lily had had it with her sister. Between the diet she was being forced to follow because of Petunia's wedding and her constant nagging for a date to her wedding, she was about to be hexed harshly. Today, however, was different.

Petunia was acting strange. She was super cheerful, had not sneered at her sister once, and had complimented Lily's hair. So, Lily took it in herself to figure out what made her so unusually nice.

"Hey Tuney," Lily asked trying to see if the old nickname got a reaction from her. Nothing, she just continued to pour her coffee without a thought in the world. "I was just wondering if you knew what was happening today." Petunia turned around with an ear-splitting grin.

"Oh! No one told you! Today, Henry is taking us to the Prime Minister of England!" Petunia squealed while Lily tried to hold back her grimace.

Meeting rich, possibly rude people, was not what she was hoping was on the agenda. Lily was hoping that she would say that nothing was on the agenda and that she was only cheerful because she was on drugs, but you can't always get what you want.

"I haven't even said the best part yet! Henry is getting the prime minister to officiate at their private wedding! Which is happening today. Our bridesmaid dresses will already be there for us to wear!"

Just kill me now. Lily thought, this is going to be a terrible day. Just stay strong for Mum.

...

Mary had picked up a rather bold pair of star-shaped pink sunglasses and placed them on Remus's face. He had to bend down slightly because of how tall he was, but that didn't change the fact that she had gotten those sunglasses on his head.

"I swear you're like a damn giant! I am not that short, but compared to you I might as well be three feet tall!" Remus chuckled carefully putting the sunglasses back on display, not without wincing since there was a new scar slashed on half of his nose. This Mary did not miss and it made her frown.

"I can admit that I am very tall, however, I'm only an inch taller than James, so technically we're both giants. And don't look at me like that."

"Like what?"

"Like you pity me. Like I'm made of glass and I'm about to break."

"Actually, I was wondering if you could remember anything from while you're a werewolf. Though it's hard not to look at you and pity you, I know you hate that, so I just think about how big and strong you are." He smiled as they walked out of the store, bell ringing as they went.

"I can not remember anything from the time I'm fully transformed until I turn back. They are trying to develop a potion I can take where I keep my mind but still turn." He ran his hand through his hair, much like how James does so often. This is a habit Remus picked up from him because of how many times he watched his friend do it, uncountable.

"The potion thing is interesting, but I just noticed how you run your hand through your hair as James does. Is that a habit you picked up from him or he picked up from you?"

"A habit I picked up from him. The number of times I watched him do that." He shook his head while speaking.

...

Alice, Michelle, their Mum, and their Aunt Carol had gone to a dress store called Yuma's Bridal Wear and if the dresses were anything like the outside, they would walk right back out.

They had either not taken down their Christmas decorations or had put them up for Christmas in July, but either way the red and green clashed with the pink painted building.

They were looking for a bridesmaid dress for Alice because other than her there were no other girls in the bridal party. Except, the maid of honor that was actually the man of honor, but he couldn't make it to this fitting. So, Michelle would just have to look for ties that matched the color of her sister's dress for him then.

His name is John Hill and he has been best friends with Michelle Fortescue since they met in their first year at Hogwarts after he fell off the boat leading them across the Black Lake. Michelle was the only one who helped him back into the boat without laughing.

He was sorted into Slytherin but did not hold any of the beliefs most of his housemates did. For this, he received a lot of hate from everyone around him, so he would often pay the Ravenclaw dorm a visit. The other Ravenclaws didn't mind much, since he was quiet and respectful to those around him.

In their third-year, when Marlene's brother, Marcus, came to Hogwarts he joined the duo. They met when Marcus was lost on his way to Potions, later they tutored him and it blossomed into a friendship quickly. However, it didn't make sense for him to be included in the bridal party because they hadn't talked to him since they graduated.

John always made a habit of wearing green somewhere in his outfit. Perhaps, this is the result of him being a Slytherin, but he always says it's because it brings out his eye color. This is one of the reasons Michelle chose it to be one of the wedding colors.

Michelle also loved greenery, almost every room in her house had a plant in it. You really couldn't escape the color green, but there wasn't too much so that it looked like a person vomited green everywhere in the house.

The other color they had decided was a pale pink color to represent the flowers that were bound to be at the end of the green stems.

Michelle wanted to find a deep green dress and tie in the store they entered, which proved not to be that hard because the shop had every dress imaginable.

...

An hour later the four women exited the dress store, Alice with her dress in hand and Michelle carrying the tie that matched.

Their smiles radiated off of themselves onto anyone else they came into contact with that day because Michelle was getting married! Why not live a little and try to forget about the war?

...

Marlene tossed a v neck red shirt on and paired it with tight leather shorts. She put on her brightest red lipstick and popped a piece of spearmint gum into her mouth. She looked exactly what you might picture Sirius Black's girlfriend to look like. The only thing missing was a cigarette.

When Eve walked into the room she started to laugh a little because Marlene looked a lot like how she did when she first started dating Darwin. The blonde hair, bright red lipstick, and leather shorts were a perfect representation of her teenage years.

"Ready to go Marls?" She nodded and followed her mum out their door, without seeing the disapproving looks from her older brothers.

...

They apparated to Muggle London in an alley off to the side, so no one would see them appear out of nowhere.

"Alright, you wanna tell me anything else about your relationship with Sirius? Or am I going to have to get your brothers to talk to me again?" They both chuckled.

"Anything specific you want to know?" She was hoping her mum wouldn't ask anything too awkward, but it wasn't like she was going to hold back if her mum did.

"Have you been safe?" Marlene's eyes widened.

"Safe? What do you mean safe?" Her voice was loud attracting the attention of bystanders in the street.

"Marly! You must think I'm stupid! Have you been using the tonic that I made sure to give you?" She sighed in defeat, too bad for her, her mother was going all out right away.

"Yes. Yes, we are."

...

The boy in question was currently at St. Mungo's in the injury ward casting someone's broken leg. They were a Muggle, who had gotten caught up in an explosion caused by the Death Eaters. Sirius tried not to gag at the sight of the stitches.

James was across the hall casting another Muggle's arm, who had also been injured in the explosion.

St. Mungo's was so overwhelmed with patients that after a couple of hours of training, you could perform basic healing techniques on a patient. Euphemia had seen the opportunity for the boys and had taken it. It not only got them out of the house, but it showed them what she had to deal with as a Healer for thirty-five years.

Euphemia was welcomed into the surgery ward, it was like she hadn't even retired in the first place. Everyone stopped to talk to her in the hospital and asked her for professional advice on their careers.

Alastor Moody had been watching the two boys struggle with their patients for a good fifteen minutes before he called two Healers over to deal with their patients. He called the two boys out in the hallway out of the way of oncoming hospital traffic.

"Well, unless you plan on getting way better at it over the next year, I think it's safe to assume you two won't be Healers."

The two both nodded, quite confused as to why the Auror Moody was talking to them without Fleamont hovering behind their shoulders.

"Good. Consider, instead, coming to the Ministry and working as Aurors. I could talk to Dumbledore about the early acceptance program."

"That would be great Mr. Moody," James spoke while Sirius nodded profusely.

"Alright, then you two. Remember constant vigilance."

...

As soon as a limo came to Henry's house to pick the four of them up, Lily's mood brightened. Why not enjoy the luxury life while she still could? She could definitely put on a fake facade and pretend to enjoy being rich.

The ride to the Prime Minister's house was short. Henry lived within fifteen minutes of all the important, rich people for "work purposes." Lily still had yet to hear what he did for work.

The Prime Minister's house had managed to be bigger than Henry's and might have achieved the feat of being bigger than Potter Manor. Either way, Lily's jaw dropped.

The thing that caught Lily's attention the most was a large marble fountain that stood in front of the house. The marble shined like the top of the Chrysler Building.

Everything else seemed to pass her in a blur. The leather sofas, flat-screen TVs, a newly remodeled kitchen with granite countertops, and two white-furred poodles that had just been groomed.

The Prime Minister's wife was a piece of work. Evident gold digger Lily noted mentally. Though, she was nice enough and had fetched for a couple of people to start Lily's hair and makeup. So, she concluded that Isabelle couldn't possibly be as bad as her bleached hair looked.

The bridesmaid dress that Lily had to wear was a loose light pink halter that stopped right above her knees. The pink didn't clash too horribly with her hair, but that didn't stop Petunia from making a few rude comments.

Petunia would walk down the aisle before her and was getting ready to do so, as Lily looked at herself in the mirror again. She smoothed out the creases of her dress and made sure that her mascara wasn't smudged. Even though it was only the Prime Minister, his wife, Henry, her mum, and Petunia at the wedding, she wanted to make sure she looked as pretty as possible.

Her mum strode into the room with something in her hand. Lily didn't notice that at first because she was so taken aback by how simply beautiful she was. Her hair was up in a braided updo with a lace veil to match the bodice lace on the dress.

"Lily," her mum looked her straight in the eyes. "I want you to have these rings for when you get married." She dropped the wedding band of her own and Lily's father along with her engagement ring.

"Thank you Mum," her voice breaking slightly. "Are you sure?"

"Completely. Someday when you get married to a wonderful man I want you to wear those wedding bands on a necklace as you walk down the aisle. It'll be like having your father walk you down the aisle."

...

Watching her Mum walk down the aisle with a bouquet of pink roses, that matched the shade of her and Petunia's dresses, was surreal. It didn't matter to Lily that she didn't like the man her mother was marrying, it mattered that her Mum was happy. If marrying Henry was what made her happy, then so be it.

"Rose Paige Evans, do you take Henry Taylor Smith to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

" I do."

"Henry Taylor Smith, do you take Rose Paige Evans to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do."

...

Author's Note:

How do you feel about Rose Evans becoming Rose Smith? Good? Bad? Let me know.

Just imagining Sirius and James attempting to be doctors is funny to me, so I had to include it somewhere in this fic. As soon as I got the idea I was like gold

I couldn't come up with anything better than Man of Honor. My creative juices weren't flowing when I wrote that part of this chapter, anyone else got anything better?

So, I know that it is rather early in the story to ask this, but I was thinking about how I planned the ending and I left it open so I could potentially write a sequel to this one. Which would make this a trilogy. Would you guys like to have it a trilogy? Or do you think just two books would be better?

Lmao anyways thanks for reading
