Playing in my head
Zadkiel drabble (inspired from a picrew sksksks)
(And oh, I was actually listening to the songs mentioned here)
Sunday afternoon, Vivian had invited Seren over in the Azad's place.
"I'll go get some snacks since I know I can't bother Zad to do it," Vivian announced. "You two mingle...or not, you don't have to. Whatever. I don't know. Just don't let me miss out on anything." She disappeared to the kitchen.
"Ok then, dear." Seren smiled at Vivi before she went off.
Awkward silence laced the room.
"So..." Zad said, not looking up from the book he was reading. "How did you know?"
"Know what?" Seren asked.
"Know that you liked Vivian." Zad then shook his head. "Wait no. Nevermind. That might've been too much to ask or something."
"Oh! It's alright!" Seren smiles warmly. "It's quite silly really... how I found out."
"Well?"
"One night I was just listening to some music. Typical and sappy love songs to be specific. Then I started thinking of these silly little scenarios in my head."
That's silly indeed. Zad wanted to say out loud. He figured Seren was the type to do things like those, but he didn't want to be rude to his sister's girlfriend. Plus, he started it by asking.
"Ah, then well... I started thinking of Vivian and me in those scenarios." Seren blushed. "Don't tell her, I haven't told her."
"I won't."
"Well... who do you think about in those scenarios?"
"I don't think of stuff like that."
"Oh."
"Ello! I'm back!" Vivian re-entered the living room with chips and drinks. "I didn't miss anything, eh?"
Zad felt relief that the whole awkward thing is over. He went back to his reading.
—
"This is stupid," Zad muttered to himself.
It was night. He was lying down in his bed, phone in hand. Soft love ballads started playing.
"This is very stupid." He repeated, yet showed no signs of stopping what he was planning to do.
Well... it's not like anyone's gonna know he's about to do what Seren did: imagining silly little romantic scenarios. Probably no one would pop up anyway.
Dating is the last thing in Zad's mind. He doesn't have any luck in it anyways. He wouldn't mind if he had to spend his entire life single but...
...maybe it'll be nice to be someone.
He closed his eyes, allowing his mind to drift off to his imagination. "Make it With You" was currently playing at that moment. Zad chuckled at how appropriate the song seemed to fit.
Oh, he remembered this song being in Will's playlist. Zad remembered remarking that Will has good music taste, even if Will is... Will. A funny boy he is, always in trouble and always loud, yet he sees all of his experiences as something valuable. Life seemed a bit more thrilling when he's around.
Maybe he wouldn't mind spending more time with him. Yeah. that'll be nice...
Hold on-
Zad tried to clear his thoughts. He must not let the funny, loud boy distract him at this moment. Ugh, even when he isn't around Will finds ways to annoy Zad and invade his peaceful moments.
"Bibingka" was the next song. Zad doesn't actually understand Filipino, but this was another recommendation from Will. He remembered Will telling him about Christmas mornings in his hometown. Those seem like quiet and peaceful mornings. Zad wouldn't say no if Will asked him to visit the Philippines and experience Christmas there himself. Will would tour him around. Zad chuckles at how he thought Will would be excited that he can play tour guide with him.
Wait- why is he thinking of Will again?
No. No. No.
Zad played a different song, something not from Will's playlist...yet he still can't get the dang boy out of his head.
Fuck. This can't be.
He can't possibly like that silly, loud boy.
"Fuck you, Will." Zad cursed out loud, hoping that Will can hear it.
Hoping that he's being cursed too for the same reasons.
