Five
"Mom! Look at me!" She yells.
"Your child really is growing." A villager says.
"Of course she is Luckwood." I smile.
She dances in the sun. Her hair shines like the moon. It's her tenth birthday. The entire village is here. I grip my hands. I never thought I could raise her all on my own. She's a wildfire. She's a little ball of energy.
"Come on Mia. It's time for your cake!" I yell.
"Yay!" She smiles and runs over.
"I think Mr. Baker added too many chocolate chips." I whisper to her.
"No such thing." She chuckles.
"Okay." I lift her up.
Mia sits on the pledge.
"Make a wish true and bright." I whisper.
She nods. She looks up and screams. I feel a dark shadow. I look up. Everyone screams. A dragon?! I grab Mia. I try running but ice blocks my way. I gasp. I see someone walking out of the bushes.
"Don't run. It only riles her up more." He says.
I turn. He's cloaked but holding a sword. Where he walks cold follows. Ice and snow form under his feet. I clutch Mia. The dragon roars as she flies over the man. Mia almost screams. I grab her mouth.
"Shh. My darling." I say.
I turn to him.
"What do you want?" I ask.
I look up. I see the sky darken. I see horse figures in the sky. They shoot down and rain ice swords almost. I grab Mia and I start running. They slam into houses and people. Every time one of them hits ice forms. He starts shooting out mist from his mouth like how a dragon would shoot out fire.
"It's okay. Mia. It's okay." I say.
