See you again (Reggie x M!Reader)

Y/N pov
Reggie and I had been dating for a few months. It was kept a secret from basically everyone we know. But tonight was the night that hopefully Reggie and I would come out to everyone with our secret relationship. Sunset curve was playing Orpheum and I, y/n L/n, just so happened to be the merch seller.
It kind of bothered me that nobody knew that we were dating but not really. It just worried me when fan girls would swoon over reading and I was standing behind him awkwardly. People thought I was either Reggie or Luke's brother which obviously they were mistaken.
I was Alex's stepfather's cousins son which made Alex and I somehow related if that makes sense. It doesn't matter though.
I want to do a ride early at the Orpheum, mainly because Sunset curve was currently one of the biggest bands in Hollywood and there would be a large crowd and also because I had to set up the merch shop.
I would be working with a girl named Rose and we knew each other very briefly. Rose and I actually met at a diner when I had my first job, she's about a year older than me.
Anyway, I walked down the street and into the back door of the Orpheum. People were rigging lights and checking the sound.
Reggie, Luke, Alex and Bobby were chilling on the stage and checking everything with the sound and lights people.
I gave a small wave to my boyfriend. He waved back which earned a few stares from the few people in the Orpheum.
I slinked down to the merch area and said hello to Rose who was currently setting up tables and other things.
I grabbed a few merch shirts and started lining them up.
I heard the start of an all too familiar song, Now or Never.
I lip synced the words as I watched my boyfriend and his friends play with so much passion and happiness.
When they were done, they walked over to Rose, who gladly cheered for them.
Rose and the boys were talking and I heard Reggie say something about her being beautiful.
I felt some anger but pushed it away. I knew Reggie was just playing a part. He had to pretend. Because being gay in 1995 wasn't really safe.
My parents were against gay people and so were Alex's parents. Reggie's parents weren't okay with it but still accepted it. Luke, well if he talked to his parents, we would know.
Reggie walked over to me and grabbed a jacket that was on a chair nearby.
"Hey, the guys and I are going to grab some street dogs. Want to join?" Reggie asked as he led me to the back door. He kissed me briefly and looked to see if anyone saw.
"Yeah, let me just finish stocking up and then I'll join you guys. It's the one across the street right?" I asked.
"Yeah, and this time, maybe don't try the supreme chili dog. I don't need to clean puke from leather again," Reggie said.
He kissed my forehead and put on his jacket. The other guys, minus Bobby, walked out of the back door. Reggie gave me a small wave before following them.
"Y/n, where's the merch boxes?" Rose called from the merch stand.
I walked over, "Under the table in the back room."
Rose and I finished stocking in a few minutes. It was easier to stock with two people. The boxes were heavy.
"Okay, I'm going to find the boys," I said waving to rose as I put on one of Reggie's hoodies he gave me.
I left out through the back door but before I got 10 feet down the alleyway, I was slammed against the brick wall.
"Hey pretty boy, give me all your money," A man said. He held a gun to me and his breath smelled like alcohol.
"O-okay," I said as I reached into my pockets.
I pulled out a crumpled fifty dollar bill and some change. In the other pocket was a pen and some gum.
I handed it to the man with shaky hands.
Then I felt a sting in my side.
I looked down and saw blood slowly spreading. When I looked up, the man was gone.
I tried screaming but all I felt was pain. It got cold, really cold. And I needed water, I was so thirsty.
"Reggie," I whispered as I slid down the wall.
My head hit the ground and I blacked out.
When I woke up I remember hearing an ambulance.
Someone shouted that I needed a blood transfusion. My body radiated pain.
And then suddenly I felt fine.
The ambulance pulled up at the hospital and suddenly I was whisked into the building with terribly bright florescent lights.
I heard myself say I was fine over and over again.
Then I hopped off the gurney and started to yell at the EMTs.
But what I wasn't expecting was my body covered in blood soaked clothes.
I looked around and realized I was dead. The hospital was pretty much empty.
However, an EMT just walked though me so I'm pretty sure I am dead.
25 years later
I was strolling around and decided to do my monthly checkup on Luke's parents.
They hadn't moved since Reggie, Luke and Alex died.
I had found out about their deaths when I tried searching for them in my ghost form.
They ended up at the same hospital as me.
And I knew I couldn't cry as I watched their bodies be covered and taken away.
As I walked up the steps to the Patterson household, I looked inside.
Wait, is that Luke?
No, honestly it couldn't be.
I looked and saw him sitting on the counter and they ate breakfast.
His eyes were red and I felt my heart break.
I revealed myself by walking up to him.
"Um hey stranger," I said.
Luke's head whipped around and his red eyes widened at the looks of me.
"Y/n," he said as he jumped to hug me. "You're here. Oh my god we've missed you so much."
"We?" I asked him.
"Yeah, Alex and Reggie," Luke said.
My eyes watered as ai thought about my boyfriend. He was here.
"Can you take me to them?" I asked him.
"Sure," Luke said. He poofed outside and motioned for me to follow him.
"How long have you been a ghost?" I asked him as we walked.
"Only a few days actually. We became ghosts when this girl, Julie, played out CD. It's kind of crazy," He said.
"Oh wow. I've been a ghost for twenty five years, twelve days, six hours and fifteen minutes," I said.
"Dude, you've been dead since 1995? I tried looking for you but Reggie said you probably moved away. He's been the most shaken up about this," Luke said.
I wish I could tell him about Reggie and I dating right now but first I wanted to see my boyfriend for the first time in years.
"It's been lonely being a ghost. But there's perks. Free movies, free music, free everything. I just miss the taste of food," I said, thinking about cake and all of the sweets I would never ever eat again.
"How'd you die?" Luke asked.
I cringed, remembering the pain I felt. Remembering my boyfriend before I died.
"I was on my way to the hot dog place when some guy robbed me and then shot me," I said, remembering everything from that night.
"Y/n, that's horrible. I'm so sorry you had to go through this alone," Luke said as we stopped in front of a house.
"It's fine, now I have my friends back," I said.
"Well come on," Luke said, walking up the driveway to the house. " Time to see them."
I practically ran towards the house. I'm assuming it was the girl, Julie's house.
I saw Reggie and Alex, their backs facing me.
I pounced on Reggie and smiled.
"Hey lover boy," I whispered in his ear.
"Y/N!" He yelled as he picked me up and spun me.
"Oh my god, y/n," Alex breathed as he joined the hug. Luke walked over and joined the huge hug.
"Hey guys, why're you yelling?" A girl with curly brown hair asked.
"My boy-," Reggie started. He almost slipped up. "My friend, y/n, the one we told you about. He's a ghost," Reggie said
"Oh hello," Julie waved at me as the crowd of boys detached from me.
"Heyo, I'm y/n but I guess you knew that. I hope they haven't been jerks to you," I greeted Julie.
"Well they're kind of annoying but honestly they're really nice," Julie smiled warmly.
Reggie stood behind me and I reached back, lacing our fingers together.
Julie went back into her house to do homework and I followed the guys into their old rehearsal garage.
It had been cleaned up but Luke's couch was still there.
"So how long have you been a ghost?" Reggie asked as he sneakily sat down next to me.
I explained everything that I explained to Luke earlier.
By the end, Alex was in tears for some reason and Reggie's hand clung to my arm.
"Can we tell them about us?" Reggie whispered in my ear as Luke awkwardly comforted Alex.
"I mean, it's 2020, why not?" I said as I squeezed his free hand.
"Hey guys, we have something to tell you," Reggie said, breaking the awkward tension.
Alex and Luke looked at us, slightly confused but then Alex saw our hands together.
"Heck yeah! I knew you were both gay!" He said.
"We're dating," I told Luke who looked confused.
"Oh that explains the weird moans I'd hear when you guys came to my house. Wait-" Luke processed what he just said. "Were you guys making out in my room?!" He practically yelled.
Reggie ruffled my hair and placed a small kiss to my knuckles.
"Yeah most times," Reggie said. I softly slapped him.
"You guys are so cute together. Why didn't you tell me?" Alex asked us.
"We were planning to but, uh, we died," Reggie replied in a duh tone.
"Oh," Luke whispered. "Why were you at my parents house?" He asked.
"I always check up with Emily and Mitch a few times a year," I said. "They were like actual parents to me when my real ones weren't."
Reggie and Alex look at me understandingly.
Our parents were jerks and Luke's parents were better parents than ours ever could be, despite their disagreement with Luke's life choices.
We talked a bit more and then Alex and Luke left to go bother Julie even though I told them not to.
"Hey Reg, what would have happened to us if we lived?" I asked him as we cuddled on the probably germ infested couch.
"We would have grown up and moved away with all the money from the band. Alex, Luke, Bobby and I would all have houses close to each other in a quiet suburb that wasn't judgemental. We would get married even if it wasn't official. And we could get tons of pets to make up for the children we couldn't have," Reggie said.
"That sounds nice," I said as I breathed in his scent.
"Hey y/n, I have to go ask Julie and the guys something. I'll be back really quick," He said suddenly.
He poofed out into Julie's house and I was on the couch alone again.
I knew I would see him again. But I had changed. He didn't.
I've seen people grow up. I knew who Bobby became.
I watched the people I loved live their lives without me.
And I did it alone.
It was comforting with the silence around me. It made me feel at home with my existence.
Reggie poofed back in with the two other guys and Julie came running in shortly after.
"Okay y/n, I've talked it over with the guys and I've been waiting to do this for twenty five years," He knelt on the ground and pulled a simple ring from his pocket. "Will you, y/n L/n, do the honor and marry me?" He asked hopefully.
I sat there stupidly. Doing the math quickly in my head, we weren't teenagers. Technically we were 43 years old. I shuddered at the thought of me looking old.
"Y/n?" Reggie asked, still kneeing.
"Oh yes. YES, I'll marry you Reg," I said. He stood up and kissed me.
Luke, Alex and Julie cheered and Reggie slipped the cold metal on my finger.
"I love you so much honey," Reggie whispered before kissing me again.
"I love you more my beautiful beautiful lover boy," I replied.
Never letting him go again.
Never.
