isabel is too wild for her own good. she's always getting into trouble. but she loves it—loves taking risks and doing the dumbest things, like when she double-dosed on lsd before a final, and ran out of the room screaming half and hour later.

she just doesn't think before she does things. she's thickheaded and way too reckless and flighty. to isabel, life has no consequences. it's a dangerous way to live—but so, so fun, and isabel wants to keep it that way. so she runs from her problems, sometimes literally.

however, isabel has a motherly streak—she likes to be there for others, help them with their problems rather than her own. she's caring, and sweet—and although she isn't responsible at all, she's loyal to the end when somebody's earned her trust and would fight tooth and nail for her friends.

she's kind of extra and over-the-top in everything she does. she always has on heels somehow, just like how she's always wearing lingerie or nothing at all under her clothes.

she's lovely to be around. isabel's a constant source of entertainment. she's eager when she socializes—magnetic, charismatic and animated, yet effortlessly so. she's always flirtatious, and often manages to coax smiles out of the coldest bitches. she makes fun out of the most mundane situations, and makes party animals out of the most boring people.

isabel isn't too good when it comes to negative emotions, though. get her angry and she's terrifying, unhinged. get her sad or scared, and she snaps shut like a clamshell—the bright, sociable girl from moments ago is gone, replaced by her dark, silent alter-ego. she just doesn't do well under pressure—she cracks, and when she cracks, she cries, and she doesn't want people to see her cry.

isabel is really good at making bad puns, most of which are about ducks and breakfast foods.

aside from that, she's so outgoing and friendly and charismatic that it makes it hard for her to be disliked. so she has a lot of friends, a broad support system, though she wouldn't dream of using it. she's self-sufficient. she likes being independent. and she's selfless.

plus, isabel knows how to have fun. that's a strength for sure.

isabel definitely has abandonment issues. her mother left her when she was just a kid, and it caused her to grow up doubting that she was good enough for people to love her. it's why she keeps all her feelings so tight to her chest, why she has trouble trusting people. why she runs from her problems.

and she's definitely an addict. she's in denial (not just a river in egypt for this girl)—she thinks she's only having fun. what's wrong with a little cocaine? lsd? it's only recreational. she's so good at ignoring what's basically punching her in the face—the longing for a high, the restlessness, the chills.

her flightiness and recklessness is also an issue—isabel simply isn't a sensible person. she's a dumbass, and kind of a hot mess just waiting to fall apart.

isabel is mostly afraid of being alone. she's also afraid that she isn't good enough for the people around her to love her—she's a little bit desperate for love.

small spaces also get her pulse racing, and, ironically, spiders terrify her. she doesn't know why—she just can't stand them.

◈ backstory ◈
isabel's mother left her when she was five years old, and her last words to isabel were lies. she claimed she was just going to work, just needed aunt rory to babysit her for the day because isabel's daycare plans had fallen through.

then, she was gone.

isabel and her aunt made do. she grew up in the best household her aunt could provide, and eventually she had little baby cousins to look after, too. mason and billie are the loves of her life.

but then isabel's powers started to manifest, and aunt rory insisted they they keep them a secret. she homeschooled isabel while watching the world fall apart outside their walls—the death, rioting, unease. and through it all, rory kept isabel safe, training her in whatever way she could.

until louis beltrame came along. rory fought to get isabel to the academy, and she succeeded, and that's where isabel has been ever since. maybe the absence of rory's influence during most of her teenage years caused her to become a typical good-girl gone bad.
