gideon is a boy who's had some of the life stifled out of him. still, he is resilient—his mother taught him how to be strong.

disobedience is in his nature. he's a reckless rebel—the king was only able to turn him into his 'perfect' soldier by harming his mother, and even then, gideon couldn't help mouthing off a bit, only going so far that his mother wouldn't be hurt.

he's a tease, with a constant smirk on his lips. his words are always clever and sharp, and there's an air about him—an air of trustworthiness and loyalty. he is loyal—incredibly loyal. a worse man would have forgotten his mother and befriended the new king to regain power. but gideon would never do such a thing.

he is a protector and cares very deeply when he cares—a fact he's become accustomed to hiding. he is incredibly selfless. to save his mother and his kingdom, he would put himself through any torture. he tried that route too many times with the king—nothing ever worked. his spirit is fading.

gideon's early years were his happiest. with his mother's constant presence, everybody seemed to be happy—the kingdom flourished. the king and queen were beloved by all.

but after the king fell ill and died with only one heir, leaving a woman on the throne, gideon's mother was forced to remarry and to give up her power. she didn't know what a monster she had married until it was much too late. he declared then-young gideon a bastard and turned him into his pawn, caring little for his happiness. he ruled in a cowardly, cruel way—one with no justice and ample pain for his subjects.

mystic valley was beginning to fall apart. there were revolts and starvation, plague and wars—but the king did nothing to change, sending him away to stormland when he became disobedient. it was the ultimate punishment—there, he couldn't protect his mother.

he was told to befriend the queen to craft a treaty, earning her trust. what he didn't reveal to his son was that he was planning on murdering her and taking her crown. he wanted more than mystic valley—he wanted to conquer.

what the king didn't know was that gideon had other plans.
