Corazon Delgado believed Valentines Day was the worst day of the year. Almost every bad thing that happened to her fell either on Valentines Day or around the time.

Exhibit A, and probably the worst: The death of Valentina and Luis Delgado, her parents. They were driving home from dinner celebrating an early Valentine's Day and a drunk driver crashed into them flipping the car over and ending their lives.  Cora was twelve at the time, she remembered her brother answering the door, his girlfriend coming over to babysit while he went out for a while, and she remembered the funeral where she said goodbye to them.

Exhibit B : Valentines Day 2021, Augustus Galanis, Corazon's best friend, decided to come out to his friend Mason, of course this ended with Mason outing him to the entire school and moving to Atlanta in fear that Gus had a crush on him and got funny ideas. This ended with Gus being heartbroken for two months and the rest of the school year hiding out at the library.

Finally we reach Exhibit C, one that Corazon had not gotten over yet : Valentines Day 2022, one where Corazon got her heart broken for the very first time, she and Jake Lowell had been dating for a year, the date marking their one year anniversary. After a day full of "heartfelt gifts" and kisses on cheeks, Cora and Jake attended a Valentines Day party with some of Jake's lacrosse friends, of course this ended with Cora finding her boyfriend making out with some girl he ended up calling an "old friend" as Cora left the party in tears.

Now, Jake wouldn't leave Cora alone, her brother's commitment issues were catching up to him , and her best friend's heart was still broken. Corazon didn't know how to feel, especially when she's forced to audition for a band and finds herself harboring a crush for their bass player.
