AN INTRODUCTION:
𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞
ASTERIA STERLING WAS A SUPERNOVA. A violent exploding star that fuels it's demise, how...fitting.
Sure they were beautiful, stunning actually. But looks were extremely deceiving. That she could agree on. The cataclysmic explosion was merely a metaphor for her being in this vast universe, a star that shines so bright to everyone and everything else around it while the star itself saw nothing but darkness. Nothing but dark matter. Nothing worthy of engraving into it's memory.
Just nothing.
She was both sides of the same coin, quite the juxtaposition. One side emits this mesmerizing light, the other engulfing anything that even shimmered in its presence — wrapping it in it's orbit, masking it in it's cloak of misery.
Chaos.
That's what they called her.
She was nothing but destruction, to everyone and everything around her. She was a celestial being — a shadow to their light, which was ironic considering she couldn't stop burning. Perhaps some would disagree, but it's all she's ever known.
Everything and anyone she's ever loved has soon become stardust, slipping through the cracks that she tried so desperately to put back together. It never worked of course. They'd all become a graveyard of stars around her and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
How tragically beautiful.
People around her witnessed her destruction, it was only a matter of time they said. A matter of time? She wondered how this was even brought upon her, how she managed to slip this far into the abyss. It was strange, one second she was a shooting star, the next she was fuelling her collision.
She was extremely tired of her momentum being interrupted, why couldn't she just keep flying? Why did she have to burn and destruct everything around her?
These questions plagued her thoughts constantly, traversing through the cosmic seas she called her mind. While each day took a little more strength out of her, she never stopped.
Not that she could stop, it didn't help she was sitting in a cell on an orbiting ship that sat in the hands of space. That specific ship was quite the muse, The Ark, everyone called it. A pathetic excuse for a home she thought. Home to the last surviving people on planet earth. Earth was simmering in radiation after a nuclear war that occurred 97 years ago. Guess we can thank mankind for that, maybe she wasn't the only disastrous one.
She wouldn't call it home though, it failed to be home as soon as she was born, her parents, who she didn't like to discuss for that matter, weren't much guidance for her young years.
The only thing she ever found close to a home wasn't a conventional home. It was a person, nope it was more than one.
She wasn't sure what stability was, nor was she sure she would ever bother to find it. But she had a handful of people who were as close to stable as she'd ever get.
Keyword: had.
She wasn't quite sure who she could rely on anymore, being in a cell and all put quite the strain on any relationships she had on the ark.
Nothing was stable on the ark, including her mental health. Allegedly. Asteria thought that was complete bullshit, sure she has destructive tendencies but that didn't mean she was a liability.
Okay, maybe killing a guard was some proof of her delinquency, but she believed she was well within her rights to do what she did. She wasn't a blood thirsty monster, no she was a human. A human who was trying to do the right thing for a family she grew to love. Not that a particular arrogant asshole would believe that excuse anymore, in the past maybe. But not anymore, not after what she had done. He'd never know the lengths she went for him, and she was at peace with that.
Actually, she wasn't at peace with that. I guess sitting in a cell for a year and a half wasn't the best thing for her roaming thoughts. She was furious if she was being honest. She didn't regret it, she would do it again, even if he hated her, and she ended up hating him. Despite all the hatred she'd been weighing on her shoulders, she still treasured the moments she had with the curly-haired brunette — with a hot temper might she add.
I guess this is what she gets for letting her impulsive thoughts take over in the moment. Killing a guard was not her best plan, nor was it supposed to happen. But again, she did it to protect the younger sibling and the mother of the Blake family — in retrospect, she did it to protect him. I guess you could say to protect herself too. Who knows.
Chaos. The nickname had quite the effect. Emitting fear from others and dread from her. She hated it, no one knew that of course. It's not like she could stop the name now, it stuck and it has done since she was sent down to this exact cell.
Only one other person on this ship knew what happened that night. A member of the council — one she had grown quite fond of. Dr Abby Griffin. One person she'd forever owe a debt to, she'd witnessed the chaos that had occurred that evening, and not once did she turn her back on her. She had done quite the opposite, somehow, some way, Abby had managed to wipe her citizen profile, well some of it, including her age.
See, Asteria was not 17 like stated in her relatively new file, nope. She was 21, her 22nd birthday a week or so away. Quite the shocker and without a doubt a capital crime that could lead to execution if anyone found out. The woman had managed to gain the girl another year and a half of life. Not that it'd matter anyways, her '18th' birthday was soon and then the inevitable would happen.
She'd get floated.
The chaos in her would finally be balanced out and justice would be given to the ones she'd ruined in her wake.
Now that was something she was at peace with. Only that wouldn't be the case whatsoever.

wow, writing this is like a fever dream! I've been debating writing a new fanfic for a while as every one I've written in the past hasn't stuck and I end up scrapping.. bad habit of mine.
Anyway I'm glad this is one I feel very confident in writing as the 100 has a special place in my heart.
For the sake of this story, some dialogue and scenes, or even timelines may be warped. Just to make Asteria's story fit into the story as a whole!! When planning this story I was slightly skeptical about how to write her character, a little disclaimer, she's not perfect and she definitely has flaws, she will make mistakes and she will be destructive. This is all a part of her character development and who she is. Hopefully, for now, that will clear things up.
All rights of The 100, its characters, and its plots belong to Jason Rothenberg and their respectful owners. I don't own The 100 and if I did I can guarantee that Clexa or Bellarke would've happened!! (or been endgame). However, I do own additional plots, characters, and dialogue.
You are all entitled to your own opinions, however, I do NOT tolerate any sort of homophobic, racist, transphobic, or misogynic views, etc. If I do come across anything of the sort in my comments I will block you and delete your comments instantly. Thank you.
Trigger warnings
As you all probably know the 100 already has lots of trigger warnings such as gory, abuse, blood, torture, etc. This story will contain such trigger warnings and additionally small mentions of sexual assault (will be disclosed at the start of chapters including such topics) and will also contain sexual content. (to all the lovers of smut, I have your back!) so please proceed with caution while reading if you're easily triggered. Please take care of yourself and your safety <3
