|The Monster Mash|

A/N: Ik this is 3 days early but I wanted to post this early and this chapter might not make sense in some areas but I will cover and fill in the holes, I promise 😘 Have a save and Happy Corona Free Halloween 🎃 👻

Update: I finally filled in the plotholes and and added some stuff in too 😏😊😉🤭

Halloween Eve had come and the staff was ecstatic for today because the staff got to dress up for work and leave early today.

"Oh, Bri!" I groaned all while applying mascara to my lashes. "Your gonna look amazing, now come out!"

"No!" She pouted. "I look horrible in this, I still dunno how you convinced me to wear this costume with you," Brianna spoke through the wall.

She was in her room. With the door locked. She thinks she looks terrible in the costume idea that we thought of for Halloween. She didn't want to come out.

"Brianna, your gonna be amazing. Besides, do you hear this?" I gripped my flab on my stomach, then slapping it as loud as I can so she could hear it from the other side of the wall. "You're not the only one who struggles with a weight issue-"

"But you have the perfect body, Syd! I'm like a big blob, my thighs and my stomach are huge as fuck!"

"Bri," I finished off my mascara, putting the applicator in the tube, twisting the cap back on. "You gonna look like a badass bitch," Smirking, I thought of an idea. "Besides, your gonna make Jake's eyeballs pop out of his sockets."

I heard a sigh come from the inside of her room, then the lock unlocking, and the door opening.

I picked up my curling iron and put on my heat glove to curl my hair at the ends. In the mirror, I saw Brianna standing in the doorway in a matching costume which made me put down the curling iron and take my glove off.

I was absolutely blown away, Brianna never looked better, "Bri," I gasped, a slow smile appearing on my face. "You need to look at yourself one more time," Taking her by the shoulders, I lead her into my room to look at herself in my mirror. "You are a badass bitch."

Brianna stared at her reflection long and hard for a while, "Wow," She mumbled. "I really do look like a badass bitch."

"The hell you are!" I smiled, slightly shaking her shoulders. "But not without your makeup, matching beanie, and lashes!"

"Right! Right! I'll go do that!" Brianna smiled, trotting over into the bathroom to put on her lashes before leaving me in the bathroom to curl my hair to match her curls.

The two of us put on our matching older Penguins jersey earrings with the black and tan, which I found online for a pretty good price. Same with these little Stanley Cup necklaces.

The two of us had matching costumes. The two of us were going as girls from the ice crew, except we made our costumes more us than them. While they showed cleavage, we covered ours and kept the crop top look with the long sleeves, the cheer skirts, and the leg warmers.

Bri thought, since I'm artistically inclined and I like doing crafty stuff, she printed out the Penguins logos and bought plain black Converse for the both of us so I could iron the logo on to our shirts and custom design our shoes.

The finished product was definitely a winner and we definitely, almost, looked like twins with our matching Penguins beanies, earrings, and custom-designed Converse with our names on the spines of our shoes.

"See! I told you! We look like badass bitches!" I ruffled the bottom part of my hair in the mirror. "Are ya at least comfortable and can bend down? And move all different directions?"

Bri twisted and turned and made her body move in all types of directions just like we do in our everyday workday, "Yeah I think so, but was my ass hanging out?" Bri turned her head and looked down at her butt in the skirt.

Shaking my head, "Not that I saw, but you have spandex underneath, right?"

"Oh! Yeah!"

"Ok, what about me?" I also moved my body in different positions, bending over, doing all kinds of weird angles for Bri so she could make sure I was alright.

"Bend over one more time," I bent over one last time for Bri, so she could make sure my ass wasn't hanging out. "Yeah your good, skirts just long enough for you so your ass won't pop out."

Standing back up straight, I wiped the invisible sweat off my forehead, "Ok good."

The two of us had decided to carpool together in my car going to work today. Going to work there was hardly anyone on the highway and lots of open spaces at the practice arena, we even got a front row parking space which was another bonus today.

The two of us got out of the car to get a picture of us together in our costumes with the entry sign. I propped my phone up on the hood of my car and set the timer, running back to my place to pose with Bri.

Our hands locked together, our cheeks squished against each other's, and our one foot popped in the air, "Penguins!" We screamed.

Then our next pose was with our backs to each other and the backs of our feet propped against each other.

After taking our cute pictures, we hauled our gear into the building and we were greeted by our other coworkers in the locker room, also dressed up.

Jade and Thomas, the couple they were, dressed up as SpongeBob and Sandy while Andy dressed up like a mummy, with medical gauze wrapped around him comfortable so he could walk and be functional.

A lot of the other girls in the locker room wore costumes that showed lots of skin, their boobs popped out, and skin-tight clothing which made their asses pop out.

It was just like high school all over again. They were all chatting in their gossip circle, giving us dirty looks and staring at us while we were getting all the compliments and praise for our twinning costumes.

When the guys came out in their pads, we all started getting to work taking their pictures.

When I saw Jake come out of the dressing room, he was talking with Tristan, he had to take a second glance at Brianna, his eyes really did pop out of their sockets.

Brianna and I were getting our cameras set up while waiting for our guys to come out of the dressing room. I had to elbow her to make her notice Jake was staring at her.

Jake let out one of his iconic laughs while smiling and letting his eyes trail over her, "Bri, you look amazing."

"Awe," She blushed, wiping a loose strand of hair behind her ear, "Thanks, Jake."

Jumping into the conversation, I wrapped an arm around her shoulder, "Yeah, she really does. I told her she looks like a badass bitch."

"She really does-I-uh-I mean you both do!" Jake stuttered. "I mean I dunno why anyone else didn't think of the ice crew but ya know, whatever."

Getting close to her ear, "I'll leave you guys to have fun." I whispered before walking away with my camera.

Tristan waltzed up to me, seeing that I was looking around for Sid, "Damn, that's a costume," He raised his eyebrows at my costume. "How long did it take for you to put together?" Out of interest, his eyes examined my costume, looking at every detail.

"Well, maybe almost a full week due to shipping some stuff we found online." I smoothed out my cheer skirt and adjusted my beanie on my head.

"Well, you and Bri definitely deserve the best costume award if there was one!" Kris shouted from coming out of the dressing room with his pads on. "Get your fine ass over here! Your definitely pushing my A-game!" He teased which made me trot over and spin for him.

"Me and Bri are matching." I gestured to Bri who was still chatting with Jake while snapping his pictures with Tristan at her side also in their conversation.

Kris bit his lip slightly before scratching under his chin, also examining my costume, "I almost mistook you for one of the girls, to be honest, that's a pretty damn good costume tho."

"Thanks," I slightly blushed at all the comments Bri and I were receiving today, "Oh! You'll appreciate this scent!" Slightly rolling up my right sleeve, I held up the underside of my wrist to Kris. He took my hand in his, before lowering his head slightly to inhale the scent.

"Pumpkin spice?" Kris slowly inhaled the scent, looking up with his eyebrow raised at me.

Chuckling, "Nope, guess again." A cheeky smile painted my face.

"It's definitely pumpkin something. Like uh, pumpkin and vanilla maybe." He inhaled the scent on my wrist again

Taking my wrist out of his hand, then rolling my sleeve down again, I pointed at him, "Close, it's called Butterbeer."

"Oh! Like the drink from Harry Potter!"

"Yeah! My aunt got it for me over in Chestnut Hill at a Harry Potter event the town puts on."

"Chestnut Hill, Chestnut Hill? Why does that sound familiar?" Kris placed his hands on his hips and looked at the floor. "Where's it at?"

"Over near Philly where she lives with my uncle and cousins. My uncle plays hockey too."

"Oh, so they're Flyers fans." He grumbled at me.

"Oh yeah," I elongated my words. "Big-time, especially my uncle," I nodded slightly with my face scrunched. "Anyway, not to change the subject but where's Sid and G?"

"Oh, they're still in getting dressed, but they'll be out soon," Kris reassured me. "In the meantime, how about a picture for my Instagram?" He smiled, pulling out his phone.

"Yes! Of course! Ya really need to add me and Bri on there so you can send us the pics."

Kris tapped on his high-end IPhone and opened his camera to selfie mode, holding it upwards to get both of our faces in the picture.

"Say Halloween!"

"Halloween!" We said in unison, Kris tapping the capture button.

"Bri, Jake, Tristan! Come here!" I called for the three across the room.

They all came over and we all got into the picture with Bri and me in the front and the three boys in the back, "Say Halloween!"

"Halloween!" The five of us put on our best smiles before we had someone else take our picture.

The boys had hoisted the two of us on our sides to take our picture and we said Halloween once more.

Everyone except Sid and Geno was out on the ice practicing, the two had come in late. The two were completely focused today during practice while I snapped his pictures from behind the glass.

During lunch, Sid was alone on the ice, shooting some pucks so I decided to join him.

"Hey Sid," Carefully, I walked over to the NHL player on the ice. "I didn't see you this morning."

Sid shot the puck and came around to me, stopping dead in his tracks a few feet in front of me, "You look quite catching today."

I blushed at his compliment, "Thanks, but, um, are you ok?" I inched closer to him.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He waved his gloved hand at me but his voice was a bit hesitant.

"You're not sounding or are acting like yourself today, are you sure your ok?" I moved my head down slightly so I could look behind his visor before reaching under his chin and I latching his helmet, taking it off his head.

Sid had a gash on his one temple and a cut on his cheek which made me drop his helmet to the ice and cup my mouth.

"Sid! Your face!" I then rushed over and gently touched the gash on his temple which made him wince slightly, flinching to put his hand over mine. "What happened to you?" I then ran my thumb over the dry blood cut on his cheek.

"I'm fine, I just cut myself shaving, that's all." He reached for my hand and pushed it away.

"This is no razor cut, Sid, this is like something much larger than a razor blade." I tried to bring my hand up to his face to examine it again but he snapped his head away.

"I told you, it's nothing." He growled, angrily, bending down to pick up his helmet and put it on his head.

My eyes widened at his tone of voice, "Ok, fine, if you say so."

Walking away from Sid, I left him alone which is what he wanted to be.

Throughout the day, I tried to keep happy but his actions and his voice were at the back of my mind.

Something good that came out from the day was Jake asking Bri to a Halloween bash at Mario Lemieux's house and the whole team is invited. Even though I didn't want to be the third wheel to their date, she insisted that I'd join them.

At the end of our shortened day, the guys also got to leave for the day. Kris wanted to get a group photo of everyone together for his Instagram. Andy in the front with the guys picking me and Bri up on either side.

I caught Geno for a minute to chat with him about Sid but he also said the same response and that I shouldn't worry myself.

Bri and I hopped into my car, Bri was ready to go, while I was not, I just sat there and rubbed my hand that I touched Sid with.

"Syd? What's wrong?" Bri frowned, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"Sid, he had a gash on his temple and a cut on his cheek. He just wasn't himself. He said that it was from him shaving but I dunno, I'm worried about him Bri." My voice was shaking and a tear ran down my left cheek. I truly was worried about him because I care for him and the people who are close to me.

"I dunno either Syd, but whatever it is, I would be worried too, and I am. Let's just go home, relax, and go to the party."

"Well, we can't go as the same people!"

"Uh, of course, we can!" Bri argued.

"Uh, no we have to make a bigger impact. I was thinking about pulling out my old Catwoman costume and we could go out and buy you some stuff for a Harley Quinn costume."

"Oh, now you got me excited!"

"Gotham Sirens, here we come!"

The two of us went to the nearest Spirit Halloween to pick up some things for Bri. Bri wanted to be the Harley Quinn with the orange jumpsuit and her hair in curlers.

Getting home, we took off our previous costumes and got into different outfits, I got into a sweatshirt and sweats while Bri slipped into her Harley Quinn costume and put a towel over her while I spray painted her hair white, neon blue, and neon red to prevent her costume from getting colored.

After I dyed her hair, she applied her makeup and making her skin pale, and putting her hair up in big curlers we got at the salon down the street. We also got Juno a Batman costume to waddle around in.

I took out my Penguins earrings and put in my big diamond stud earrings before putting on my ears and my mask that made me look like Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.

Bri did me the favor of fitting Juno into his Batman costume while I was getting dressed.

The three of us walked downstairs to The Muddy Cup where Dotty and a few of the staff members were passing out candy to some of the little Trick-or-Treaters.

For most of the evening, we helped Dotty pass out candy to the kids, and probably the kids and some of the adults were into Juno more than they liked the candy.

Jake eventually texted Bri the address to Mario Lemieux's house so we could get an Uber. The two of us went back upstairs to put Juno away and so I could get my black high heel boots on for the party.

Eventually, our Uber came and we gave the driver the address.

During the car ride, I unzipped my jacket slightly, showing a bit of cleavage but not too much.

When arriving at the house, it was all decked out for Halloween with scary decorations and lights and lots of cars in the driveway with the bass pumped up which we can hear it from inside the car on the street.

Bri and I pressed our faces up against the window of the car to look at the house and some people entering the house.

I kindly paid the driver before he left and we walked together up to the house with our arms linked.

We let ourselves into the house and mingled around the house before finding the kitchen.

"Ok, I'm like speechless, we're in Mario Lemieux house! It's absolutely STUNNING!" Bri squeaked.

"My first reaction when I came here too."

Finding our way to the kitchen Nathalie was chopping up cantaloupe on a cutting board in the Bride of Frankenstein costume with makeup and everything. I knocked on the door frame, getting her attention.

Her face automatically lit up, "Oh! Sydney! I'm so happy your here!" She held up her arms as she walked over to me.

"Awe, I'm happy to be here too! Thank you for letting me come!" We wrapped each other in a hug, then she squeezed my hands.

"Who's your friend?"

Raising my eyebrows, wrapping an arm around Bri's shoulder, I brought her closer. Her mouth was wide open from shock, "This is my best friend slash roommate slash coworker, Brianna. Brianna, this is Nathalie Lemieux.

"What an honor meeting you Mrs. Lemieux, I am so overjoyed by meeting you!" She squeaked while shaking Nathalie's hand.

"Oh! Please, dear! Call me Nathalie, you make me feel old calling me Mrs!" The three of us laughed.

"Nathalie, dear, has Syd-" A voice called out from behind us making our attention turn to the door.

Mario was standing outside the room in a Frankenstein costume and Brianna about almost passed out and tipped over if it weren't me for pinching her.

"Oh, honey! Great timing, Sydney brought a friend with her." Nathalie walked past me and left a kiss on his lips before going back to cutting cantaloupe.

"Mr. Lemieux-"

"Remember, Sydney, no formalities." He smiled down at me.

"Sorry, right, I'm just so used to it," I lightly slapped my forehead. "Mario, this is my friend Brianna, she also works with me and Brianna, you already know who this is," I smirked.

This time, Bri looked like a goldfish, "Sir, I cannot express how overjoyed and honored I am to meet you." She smiled, the two shook hands.

"Please Miss Brianna, the pleasure is all mine. Sid of course told us about you since you used to take his pictures." He smiled.

Bri gestured to her surroundings, "I just want to say your house, your house is so beautiful."

"Thank you, I automatically fell in love with it the day Nathalie and I bought it."

"How old is it?" Bri raised a brow.

"It was built in 1908 and everything in here is almost all original and vintage."

"Ugh, I can imagine."

"I don't want to keep you girls, but please enjoy the party."

"Thanks, Mario," I smiled before going over to the kitchen where Nathalie was cutting up cantaloupe, I got drinks for the two of us, handing one to Bri. "Nathalie, do you want me to do that for you?" I raised a brow, setting my glass down.

"Heavens no! Your too sweet." She smiled, looking back and forth from cutting to my eyes.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm quite sure, dear." She then put the pieces into the bowl next to her before starting to cut up a new watermelon.

"So do you do this every year? The decorations? The party?" Bri gestured to the house.

"Yes! Every year! We also do Christmas and New Years. The kids let us come to them for Thanksgiving and Easter."

"Wow, that sounds amazing."

"Everyone says we do throw great parties. We may be old, but we sure do know how to party," Her joke made the three of us laugh. "Besides, Sid and our kids love seeing each other during the holidays."

I took a drink from my glass, then setting it down, "Speaking of Sid, is he here by chance?"

"Yes, he's around here somewhere-"

"Hey! There you are!" Jake then popped up out of nowhere dressed up as Robin.

"Shut up!" I laughed. "Oh my God! I thought I'd never see you wear tights!" I almost died laughing.

"You two look amazing!" Jake complimented us before lifting up his mask up.

"Imma leave you two to it," I mumbled in Bri's ear, raising my eyebrows.

Walking out of the kitchen, I left Bri and Jake alone together while I went to find Sid in the dancing crowd in the living room which also poured out into the back yard on the patio.

A firm hand gripped my upper arm which made me spin around in shock, a tall figure in a Batman costume gripped my arm, preferably a Christian Bale Batman costume, "I know those eyes anywhere." The figure spoke.

When the light hit his face, I automatically recognized the person. His big lips gave his disguise away. Sid lifted up my mask revealing my face.

"And your lips gave it away, but nice costume." My pointy cat nail gestured to his costume.

"You know, I automatically recognized you when you walked into the room, it only did your eyes give it away, the way you walk is distinct."

"Well, you riddled me out." I chuckled before folding my arms over my chest.

Sid smirked, "I wanted to say I'm sorry about earlier today, my day didn't start well and everything was going wrong. I didn't mean to take it out on you."

"It's ok, I knew something was wrong, the vibe in the room was different but whatever happened to your face, I'm sorry about." A sympathetic smile wiped my face.

"But! You did look really good in that costume tho. You looked just as good when you were plastered on that magazine too."

"Shhh! Those all need to be burned! Including your copy! I know you have one!" I circled his face with my finger.

"No, I actually don't!" He shot his hands up in surrender. "I swear!" He laughed.

"Also, I don't look good any other time?" I puckered my lips and scrunched my face.

"No! You look amazing every day but on those two occasions, you looked," He paused, trying to find the right words. "Perfectly beautiful."

My whole face turned red, "Thanks." Rubbing the back of my leg with my heel.

"So, you like scary stuff?" I could tell he was raising a brow under his mask because of how his face scrunched together.

Rocking back and forth on my heels, "Depends." I cocked my head.

"Well, since I've lived here before, the attic is haunted."

"Oh come on, ghosts aren't real. You can't believe all that supernatural shit, Sid."

"I'm dead serious, it's haunted by a pair of ghost twins."

"Oh so now they're ghost twins, hmm?" I folded my arms over my chest.

"Ok well, let's go get Bri and Jake right now and go upstairs and I'll prove to you that ghosts are real." Sid gestured to the kitchen where Bri and Jake were at.

"Ok fine, let's hash this out then."

The two of us walked into the kitchen, Sid told Bri and Jake about the ghost twins haunting the attic space upstairs. Sid lead the three of us upstairs and to the attic.

"So how did these ghost twins haunt this house?" Bri asked with her phone flashlight on.

"Well, Mario told me that these two twins died in this house but he never said how, probably because he didn't want to scare me but yet again I was 19."

Sid showed us up the stairs to the attic and used his phone flashlight to see where he was going when he entered the dark dusty attic. Bri was clinging on to Jake's arm while the two had their phone flashlights on.

The four of us stepped into the attic a good way before the door slammed and locked behind us. Making us jump and snap around.

"Sidney Crosby I swear to God if this is you doing this, I'm gonna kill you." I gulped.

"I swear, I'm not doing anything." He whispered.

The attic was filled with things. Lots of cobwebs and dust, furniture and things from the house that were replaced and put up here for storage. Bri and Jake started to get adventurous and wander around, separating.

"Hey, Sid, what's this?" Jake called out. The three of us went over to Jake. He was standing in front of a giant antique mirror with some type of writing on it.

"I dunno, looks cool though." He shrugged.

"What's the writing say?" Bri brushed her hand over the writing on the frame of the mirror, wiping away the dust.

"Looks like Latin maybe." I squinted, taking an educated guess at the language.

"Wait," Sid got closer to the mirror. "Mort?" He mumbled.

"What?" We all turned to Sid.

"This language looks like French because mort means death in French." He pointed to the mirror.

"Can you read it?" Jake raised a brow.

"I can try," Sid gripped my wrist lightly and brought the light up. "Mort des deux. Mort du couple. Mort des deux. Mort du couple. Mort du couple impie. Mort du couple impie. Se soulever! Se soulever! Cherchez votre nouvelle vie! Se soulever! Levez-vous! Se soulever! Cherchez votre nouvelle vie! Se soulever! Se soulever!" (Death of the two. Death of the pair. Death of the two. Death of the pair. Death of the unholy pair. Death of the unholy pair. Rise up! Rise up! Seek your new life! Rise up! Rise up! Rise up! Rise up! Seek your new life! Rise up! Rise up!).

Books from behind us fell off the shelves and landed open with words written in red, "DEATH TO THE UNHOLY!"

"Is that blood?" Bri stuttered as we inched closer to the books.

"I dunno I just wanna leave," Turning around to face the mirror had the same words with blood dripping down and a ghostly figure in the mirror which made me shriek. "There-there-there was a ghost! I saw it! It was one of the twins!" Tears started pouring down my face. "Let's just go!" Storming for the door, when I gripped the knob, I heard a low moaning.

"Death to the unholy will come to you."

"Death comes to you Sydney."

"Death comes to you, Brianna."

"Death comes to you, Jake."

"Death comes to you, Sidney."

"The unholiest die first," Two voices spoke out. I backed away from the doorknob and went back to Bri, Jake, and Sid.

"That first is you Sydney!" Something gripped my neck and my ankle which made me scream and clutch on to Sidney for dear life while even more tears streamed down my face. Bri also was crying and screaming too.

Jake and Sid were trying to pry the two hands off me when figures emerged from the shadows, the twins appearing with two knives.

"Let go of me you fucking dead heads!" I kicked and whaled.

Sid had punched the hand of the one twin which made my neck get released, "Come on!" He yelled, we all ran for the door and started pounding and shaking the door know.

"HELP US! LET US OUTTA HERE!" Brianna screamed as she clung to Jake who was trying to help Sid pry the door open.

The two twins behind us were getting closer with their knives, "They're coming!" I screamed, wrapping my arms around Sid's waist for dear life.

"Come on you damn fucking knob open!" He screamed at the door and finally, the door opened and the four of us went screaming and crying downstairs back to the party.
