fish out of water
I looked around myself. I was feeling so out of place. I was not used to such rich people's parties or events, and my fiance had never forced me to join him before. But things had changed. None of us were the same, and we knew it. We both just had too much ego to let go. When we first started dating, people would always unnecessarily jump in and tell us how we are not meant to be. Those words would hurt like hell. After all, we were indeed in love. We were...
I was utterly exhausted, but I couldn't find him anywhere, and leaving him alone would create unnecessary rumours and drama.
I was already so done with everything when his mom called. We both hated her, but whenever she insulted me, he just sat there minding his own business. He never defended me, which was why our relationship was falling apart. Of course, our relationship had more significant problems, but I liked to believe this was the main reason.
"Good evening, mother. Is there a reason you called me at this time?" I asked as politely as I possibly could.
"Oh, come on, dear, why would I need a reason to call you?" I mentally scoffed at her words and immediately knew she definitely needed something.
"Of course not, mother but if you ever need something from me, don't hesitate," I said, coating every word with honey. Even though I couldn't hear her thoughts, I knew she understood my sarcasm.
"If you say so, please find my son and tell her to meet the daughter of the President of R.K. Industries." Her words spread the suppressed anger throughout my body. How could she be so ridiculous? She was telling her son's fiance to introduce her son to another woman. I knew she hated me the moment her eyes landed on me the first time I went to my fiance's house.
I worked as an employee at a small I.T. company. At the same time, her son ran the most significant portion of Eureka Industries. We had our differences in many fields, but it surprised me how she could not respect her son's choice even though she says she loves him. This was not the first time she did her stupid wing woman shit, and her son, the mama's boy he is, did everything she said. Even though he never went on a date with those women, his agreeing to meet them added to the reasons. Again his mother was the main reason.
"Whatever you say, mother." I hung up. I wasn't ready to argue, so I let it go. If he agrees to go on a date with her, it wouldn't even matter.
