chapter six
morning after

WHAT a night, or at least that's what Katinka thought when she woke up next to Jackie in their room. Jackie looked almost peaceful, besides her violent snores that were escaping her mouth. But Katinka was a whole new ballgame, mostly because she felt like she was going to be sick. What she didn't know was that going down into the basement where everyone there smoking made her contact high.

Through the night, Jackie stayed next to Daniel, but she didn't drink. She mostly just stayed quiet as he talked to his friends and then bumped into a few cheerleaders. Gold had a bit too much to drink, getting carried away with it, and almost slipped up. He was saying Zorgof over and over again, then proceeded to ask Vera if she wanted to go back to his home planet with him. Thankfully, Vera just thought he was drunk and took him home, except he didn't know where so he ended up going to her house.

Then Daniel found Katinka dead asleep next to Carson as he watched over her and then picked her up, having to take both girls home. While Katinka was thinking, Gold opened the door hastily and then jumped onto the bed, landing next to Jackie. She stirred and then woke up, and wasn't shocked to see him there.

"Where did you go last night? You had us worried," Jackie asked Gold as she yawned and then crawled off the bed, going to the shopping bags filled with clothes.

"Vera took me to her house and then I fell asleep in her room. You know, her walls are covered in stars and the solar system," Gold began, twisting both his fingers together without making eye contact with them. "Maybe if she found out it wouldn't be too bad."

"You're funny, G," Katinka chuckled before slowly getting up from the bed and doing the same action as Jackie.

Gold sighed and shook his head as he finally looked at them, "If we're going to live here, we can't keep the secret for long."

"Who said we're going to live here? We're only staying until we go back home," Katinka said for the tenth time as both girls started to change. Gold adverted his eyes to the wall.

"What if I don't want to go back home?" Jackie suddenly asked as she looked down on the floor. The room fell silent and she started talking again. "I'm making friends, guys. And they don't look at me like I killed my father, they don't know our past selves. But we can be something different here. And then there's Daniel—"

"Are you kidding me? The same girl who told us to not make relationships is making, shocker, a relationship?" Gold abruptly sat up and looked at her with disbelief, crossing his arms and furrowing his eyebrows. "Make up your mind Jackie. You know, we wouldn't even be in this mess if it wasn't for you."

"It's not my fault your big ass fell and pushed the button," Jackie chuckled dryly, looking at him with squinted eyes.

"Guys, can you stop?" Katinka asked softly as she felt her head throb, bringing her hands up to it and closing her eyes.

"Why did I even listen to you? You're not known to make the best decisions," Gold dropped his arms and then turned around, leaving the room.

"Where are you going?" Jackie asked with her face scrunched up, watching him walk out.

"To get ready for school," Was all Gold said before he disappeared behind the door.

The two girls stood in silence until Jackie went back to doing what she was previously doing. Katinka winced as her head just wouldn't stop with this unbearable pain, but it seemed like she only cared. Jackie was too busy being in a mood to notice her friend wasn't feeling ok. Soon they were both done and walking out to meet Daniel who stood by the doorway.

He had two pills in his hand and a glass of water, waiting for Katinka. He figured she'd need it by the way he found her. Once he saw them walking down, that same smile appeared on his face. "How you feeling, Tinker Bell?"

Katinka felt the corners of her mouth curl up as someone finally asked. "Horrible, I have this terrible head pain and I just don't know what it is."

Daniel handed her the pills and the water before pulling on the straps of his bag, "There, it'll help with the pain. Just swallow the pills and then drink the water, you should be fine within the next thirty minutes."

Katinka followed the instructions, almost choking on the pills in the process. It was amazingly hard to swallow those little things. But then she finally got it down and then Gold was the next one to come down. Daniel clapped when he saw the boy in a teasing way.

"Well look who we have here, our next football star!" Daniel joked, but he did think that Gold could be on the team. He just wanted to see him roll his eyes.

"Yeah, yeah," Gold chuckled and then opened the door, being the first one to leave.

Little did they know how eventful this day was bound to be, and that they'd need to be together for what was coming their way.
