CHAPTER TEN

ENJOY THE SHOW

Unfortunately the group didn't have a chance to properly suit up as they all ran as fast as they could to the school.

They would've used some of Kai or Martina's magic but if Eclipso was really there they needed them at full strength.

Luckily there were no cars on the street so they didn't have to make any stops.

When they got there they stopped in front of the main door.

Kai's eyes glowed blue  as she scanned over the school. "Your friends are in there and they look like they could use the help."

Inside the school, Yolanda was scratching the locker with her claws, Rick was punching some lockers and Beth was on the ground holding two things and trying to put them back together.

That's what most of the team saw, except Harley. She could see it all, everything the three were seeing, she could too. She didn't necessarily understand why or how.

"Why the hell are they doing that?" Melaina asked the group as they walked in to the madness.

"You guys can't see it?" Harley said as she watched them.

"See what?"

"This is Eclipso's doing, I don't get how I can only see it. " the redhead responds to the British girl as they slowly walk over.

"Wait a second, where are Courtney and Josephine?" Melaina questioned when she noticed there were only three out the five.

Martina and Melaina share a look before the two run down the hall.

Kai, Harley and Daisy remained. "How the hell are we supposed stop this?"

"Eclipso's powers come from a place called the Shadowlands. A place of only darkness!" Kai explained as he made his eyes turn blue to see what was happening before he placed his index fingers on Daisy's temples, now she could see too.

She thanked him before an idea popped in Harley's mind. "They need to see the light, so little miss light bulb, it's time for you to shine."

"I suggest you take a few steps back and cover your eyes unless you want your retinas to be burn " The two took a few steps back and shielded their eyes with their hands.

Daisy took a deep breath before putting the her hands together. Her eyes began to glow as she separated her hands, forming a ball of light in between them.

The one ball spilt into three before each ball of light went to one of the three. She took a deep breath before making a few movements with her hands and fingers making the balls of light become brighter.

She moved her hands apart slowly while keeping her focus on each of them. With a snap of her fingers the balls of light burst above their heads and filled their eyes.

Rick, Beth and Yolanda rubbed their eyes as the light sunk into them letting them see the truth, the reality.

Rick helped Beth to her feet as Yolanda turned her head towards the three.

Harley and Kai walked back towards their places beside Daisy who was powering down. "Still got it." The girl said with a proud smirk.

"Who the hell are you guys?" Rick asked the trio.

"The same people who just saved your asses, so you're welcome." Daisy explained before taking a bow making Rick role his eyes.

"Where did the paintings go?" Yolanda asked as she looked at the claw marks on the locker.

"Yeah what just happened?" Beth added

"They were never there, Eclipso was making you see them." Harley explained to the the two.

"Harley?" Yolanda said as she recognized the girl.

"Uhh...hi."

"How the hell do you know about Eclipso?" Rick asked them

"How about we go make sure our friends are still alive." Daisy said, ignoring Ricks question before waltzing her way down the hall.

Martina and Melaina left the rest of the group down with the rest of the JSA to take care of them as they ran down the hall.

"I got it! Go." The two heard Josie say to Courtney as the turned the corner and reach the scene.

The said teacher, Mr Deisinger was covered in this stuff, well Eclipso. The same stuff that Josephine had managed to hold with a ball of magic.

Courtney rose to her feet. She gripped her staff before raising it and shooting some of its energy at the teacher.

Meanwhile or somehow as the man reached for the light, some of the darkness leaked out and headed for Josephine.

The witch caught the darkness in the same ball of magic that held the others she had caught earlier.

The two girls knew this was going to go wrong. "Jo!"

The witch turned her head towards the Amazon with a small smile on her face. "Melaina?" There was something different in her voice and eyes, she was scared. Those were the eyes of the girl that Melaina grew up with. "I missed you so much."

The girl stood there confused at her words. "You have to let it go!" Melaina pleaded before Josephine let out a groan.

Her eyes shifted back to the ones that Melaina had grown to despise. "You think she can hear you?" Josephine asked the girl with a laugh as more of the darkness threw itself into the ball of magic. "She'll be dead soon and I'll be free."

"Who the hell are you?" Martina asked as Melaina took a defensive stance.

"I'm still Jo. Just not the one you know."

Mr Deisinger had managed to touch the staff, the darkness began to wither away as light began to shine through the man's mouth, eyes and nostrils.

"It'll be so delicious to watch you choke on your own blood as I kill you." The witch sneered as the darkness began to make the magic ball crack. "See you on the other side bitch."

The moment that Mr Deisinger was freed the ball exploded, throwing Martina and Melaina into the window, shattering the glass.

That was the first thing that Daisy and the others saw when the reached the scene.

Immediately they ran towards the duo who groaned in pain.

"Blimey, are you two okay?" Daisy asked as she helped the two sit up.

"Yeah, I'll be fine by the morning." Melaina assured making Marty nod her head in agreement. "Go check on Jo and Court."

Beth and Yolanda went began to check on Jo. "Are you sure you're okay?" Rick asked his friend.

The girl nodded again before he took off, following the rest of his team.

From a corner of her eye, Melaina watched the last of the darkness sink into Josephine's skin who sat up against the lockers after they checked on her. She smirked slightly at the girl who watched her.

"What the hell just happened to Jo?"

Kai and Marty exchanged a look. "There's something you need to know...all of you." Kai said to Melaina, Harley and Daisy.

"Why's the plan changing Burman? I thought you said it would be four on four." Artemis asked the villainess.

"I did and it will be. We may not have Cameron but I do have a back up plan." Cindy assured the girl as she looked at the diamond.

"What plan?" Isaac added.

"Not exactly a plan more of a person." Artemis and Isaac shared a look. "Let's just say if my partner did what he was told, we'll have a very powerful witch on our side."

Cindy pulled out a picture. "There's just one more piece we need." The girl finished as she pointed at the picture of Mike Dugan on the table.

Josephine Zarick woke up in a place full of darkness, nothing could be seen for miles.

"Hello!" The girl called creating an echo. "Hello! Is anyone there?"

Josie looked at her clothes and noticed that she wasn't in her suit anymore which made her slightly confused.

"Hi." A voice said, a voice that sounded exactly like Josephine, a voice that she knew all to well.

"You!" Josie barked making the figure walk towards her.

The figure was a person or a witch and someone that Josie had created. Someone. No a part of her that had messed up the best relationship she had in her life.

"Hi mini me." The brunette greeted as she slowly walked towards the girl.

"What have you done? And If anything you're the smaller version of me."

"Awww. That's so funny that you think that's how it works." The witch said as she stood in front of her.

Josephine glared at her as she formed a fist with each of her hands. "You do not control me anymore."

"Don't I? Last I checked you put me in control." The witch said.

"That was a mistake I didn't-"

"Think that I'd take it this far. Well sorry dear but you wanted me...so you've got me." The witch stated. "If you were smart you would've gotten rid of me when you discovered our family curse."

"You weren't supposed to. Do you know what you've done. If anything bad happens to any of them. It'll be on you!"

"On me?" The witch let out a laugh. "No. Josie this is on you. I mean you woke me up when you almost killed Jordan Mahkent and kept me in your pocket just to keep poor little Melaina in line." The witch laughed again.

"I was mad at her but she's still our best friend."

"Is she? You know she doesn't trust us any more. It's your fault she left the JSA. It's your fault she's in therapy and it will most definitely be your fault for what happens to her next. Need I remind you that I'm all the hate and anger that you've been bundling up since Joey's death."

"Next? What do you mean next?" The witch smirked and started to walk away. "Josephine!" Josie grabbed her hand and forced her to face her.

Josephine clenched her fist making Josie let out a scream. She pressed her hands on her ears as she fell to her knees. When Josephine felt like she'd had enough unclenched her fist making Josie move her hands from her ears, revealing blood in her palms.

"Josie...Josie...Josie. I'm surprised that you didn't get the memo when I banished Joey and Dad. It took me mentioning that pathetic loser for you to finally snap." Josie didn't look up.

Josephine waved her hands and within seconds the two were in their old living room. Josie opened her eyes and found herself chained to her old couch.

"I might as well tell you what I'm going to do because well you'll see it either way." Josephine explained before turning her gaze to the TV which was showing everything that Josephine was currently seeing. "In a couple hours an old friend will escape his hell scape and I will join him."

"No." Josie said in disbelief.

"And when I do...I will personally make sure that the Courtney, Melaina and the rest of that team suffers."

"I swear Josephine! If you lay on hand on them! You have no idea what you're letting out into this world."

"Don't I? Because last I checked, thanks to  our ancestor, I'm more powerful than Eclipso so if he tries to double cross me...I'll kill him myself." Josephine told the girl as she struggled on the couch.

"You love them both as much as I do. Why would you want to hurt them?"

"Love Courtney? Has your relationship even been going well these past few months? Last I checked...that star spangled bitch has been so hooked onto being a superhero she forgot about you besides she killed our brother." As she said those words, memories of the past couple months appeared on the screen.

Josie sat at Richie's with a chocolate Milkshake with two straws waiting for Courtney but she didn't show, it flashed to another one where Josie showed up to the Whitmore-Dugan household with some of her favourite candy and snack but once again no Courtney.

"The blondy has been rather neglectful but you've stayed with her. You stayed with the girl that destroyed our family."

"Stop it."

"Courtney Whitmore may have not pulled the trigger but she handed Jordan Mahkent the gun. If she had listened to Pat that day our brother and father would still be alive!"

"SHUT UP!"

"I'm just the part of you that hates Courtney for everything she's done. Don't even get me started on Melaina."

The memory of Josie at the house changed to Christmas of 2020, the day everything went well and horribly for her.

The screen showed the day that she asked Melaina to choose a side. "Why did I say that?" Josie said under her breath.

The memory changes from one to the next over and over of Josie being nasty to Melaina, tears formed in the girls eyes as she watched.

What had she done?

She ruined this, not Josephine.

"You lit the match of me. Now I'm just adding fuel to the fire and finishing the job." Josephine said before the screen changed back to what the witch could see now.

It showed the family gathered at the door, waiting for Donna's arrival with a certain surprise. Josie could see every single excited expression on their faces, even on Melaina's.

Josephine walked around the couch so that she was behind Josie. She leaned down to her ear. "And I'll start with her." Josephine pointed at Melaina on the screen.

"No! Stay away from her."

On the screen, the door opened the door to reveal a toddler. Sound asleep in her arms in of Donna Troy. The Amazon hybrid sushed the family. "Guys this is Zamira Martinez-Troy. My adoptive daughter."

The family immediately congratulated her but kept it down because of the child.

"In a couple hours this family will be planning a funeral."

"Josephine I swear to God if you put a hand on her!"

"You'll what? Kill me? You don't have a single ounce of magic in your veins because you gave it all to me." She walked around and now faced her. "You are stuck in our mind and now I'm in control and soon you'll be dead. After I kill Melaina Prince."

"I'm going to kill you!" Josie yelled as she tried to leap for her but the chains around her wrists forced her back.

"I'd like to see you try." Josephine turned back to the screen. "Enjoy the show."

The witch turned and walked towards the door. "No! Melaina,run! I SWEAR ON OUR FATHERS GRAVE IF YOU PUT A SINGLE HAND ON EITHER OF THEM!"
Josie yelled for the girl who couldn't hear her, as Josephine closed the door behind her, the girls voice became muffled and nothing but a memory.
