CHAPTER TWO

NORMAL DAY IN BLUE VALLEY

Melaina walked towards her usual table and sat in between Beth and Yolanda while Josie sat beside Courtney.

"Have you seen Rick?" Beth asked the girl beside her.

"Nope last time I saw him was in Math and then he got into an argument with that new teacher." The girl answered.

"What? You think it's cool to have your parents in prison?" Artemis said as she walked with the hockey team, catching the attention of their whole table.

"Come on Artemis. That's not what I meant." One of the boys replied.

"It is. Scared the hell out of the other team." The clueless girl said. "It was a total frame job for some Bonnie and Clyde robberies way before I was even born. Some one set them up." The girl added before locking eyes with Courtney.

"Court." Melaina started knowing what she was about to do.

The moment Artemis took a step forward with her hockey stick Courtney practically jumped out of her seat, took the stick and flipped Artemis making her slam onto her back before pointing the end of it at her neck.

"What the hell are you doing Whitmore?" The girl yelled as she slapped away the end of the stick and stood up.

"What the hell are you doing?" Courtney responded harshly as she stepped towards her with the said stick.

"I was giving Jerome his stick back you blonde pinhead." Artemis replied as she grabbed the stick and handed it to the boy who Melaina hadn't really noticed.

By now the group at the table had stood up and watched Artemis march away right before the new principle came and took Courtney away.

"A normal day in Blue Valley I guess." Melaina muttered as she ate her chicken salad but she felt eyes on her so she looked up to see Josephine glaring. "We're you going to say something Josephine?"

"Nope not at all Melaina, not at all." The girl quickly responded.

"So, Melaina are you excited for your trip tomorrow?" Beth asked trying to ease the tension.

"Nope because for the first time in ten years we aren't going." She quickly replied.

After the very last class Melaina went to her locker to get her things. She had been there for a few minutes and was finishing up. The last part she had to do was take down the pictures behind her door.

The girl hadn't actually paid proper attention to them recently. As she took most of them down she reached the last one, which was of a 9 year old Melaina and Josephine smiling their teeth out.

She pulled it off and started to just stare at it. She didn't even realise how long she had been looking or how long she had zoned out for because she didn't notice the ginger girl creep up on her.

"Miss I am looking for my friend who's 5 foot 5 has black curly hair and the best taste in fashion I have seen in all my days and I'm a superhero." The girl said as she stood behind her.

"Oh hey Ceej." Melaina greeted bluntly making the ginger furrow her eyebrows but once she realised who it was her eyes widened and she spun around. "Oh my God! CJ, hi what are you doing here?" The girl said as she squeezed her friend in her arms.

"Your God-like strength." CJ reminded her as she felt herself losing air in her lung.

"Shit, sorry." Melaina said as she let her go making the redhead gasp as she regained her breath.

"Don't worry about it." CJ assured as Melaina quickly stuffed the picture into her bag. "I will answer your question after you show me where Henry's locker is?"

Melaina quickly pointed across the hallway and told her the number. With one last look inside the empty container the curly haired girl walked towards her friend.

"Try his moms birthday." She suggested to the ginger who was struggling with the lock.

"Nice job Prince." The girl said as the lock opened.

Inside was a few books, an older jacket, a few packets of empty gum and pictures. One was of him and his friends, another was of him and Harley and the last one was of him and Cindy.

The moment she noticed the last one the girls eyes glowed a fiery orange before the picture burned to ash.

"Woah dude don't use your powers here." Melaina said as she quickly looked up and down the hallway.

"Relax, no one is here apart from you and me." The ginger assured before slamming the locker shut.

"So how's small town life?" CJ asked as she slung her left arm over Melaina's shoulder.

"Minus the psychos trying to kill us it's pretty quiet." The girl answered as they walked through the school doors. "You know I am glad that you're finally visiting but what are you doing here?"

"I might be moving here. I am moving here." The girl answered making Melaina stop in her place.

Harley furrowed her eyebrows at the sudden stop before she felt herself getting pulled into another bone crushing hug. This time Melaina wore a huge smile and she hadn't smiled like that in months.

"Can't...breath." CJ stuttered as her face turned a light shade of red.

"Shit! Sorry again." Melaina said as she dropped the girl while wearing the same smile on her face. "I just, wow! This is just amazing, these past few months have been horrible and the fact that I'm not going to Central City made it even worse but now." The curly haired girl gushed as CJ did a little twirl before they continued to walk down the street.

"Yeah it's official, my mom asked me to pack that overnight bag because she wanted me to get Henry's stuff from his locker and because she wanted to show me the house." CJ explained before the two stopped to quickly check the street for on coming cars before crossing it.

"You don't sound excited." Melaina pointed out.

"I would be if my mother wasn't dragging my brother and I away from our home just because she's paranoid that the ISA is still active well that and because she was offered double what she usually gets in Central City to take over my uncles position at the hospital." CJ replied as the girls continued to walk side by side.

Not to far away from where the two were, Cameron had just finished his conversation with Courtney and happened to look across the street and see a familiar redhead and his girlfriend or former, things had been complicated recently and the two hadn't really talked that much. He remembered all the texts he'd received from her over the past couple months, the same texts that he'd been ignoring because his gut told him to.

Meanwhile Melaina was far to engrossed in her conversation to even notice Cameron there in the first place.

Hours later the sounds of Cindy Burmans heels filled the dark empty hall ways of Blue Valley High as she walked towards her locker.

She opened it and the only thing in there was a file titled; Injustice Unlimited and slammed it shut before a secret entrance opened up and she walked right into it.

She walked down the stairs right into the main meeting room of the ISA headquarters. The girl gazed at the picture of the adults for a moment before placing the file on the table.

The first thing she saw was a set of pictures held together by a paper clip and the first one seen was of the late Henry King Jr.

The girl took the said picture and looked at it for a moment before ripping it in half and letting the pieces fall to the ground.

The next one she took out was of Artemis Crock, then of Isaac Bowin, then of Cameron Mahkent and placed all of them beside each other but left one in the file.

She smirked to herself before looking through her bag and pulling out a picture of Mike Dugan and placed it with the others.

She pursed her lips as she took out the last picture from the file.

"You may be a wild card but you're way to powerful to give up. It'll be fun ripping you away from them." Cindy said before placing the picture of Josephine Zarick beside Mike's.

She then pulled a black diamond the glowed a purple light to her face.

"I am ready to serve you." A dark and deep voice said.

"Yes. Let's go do some recruiting." Cindy said before her and the deep voice began to laugh.
