Ami and I were sitting in her car. Sipping on our bobas that we ordered. The family had sent us out on a boba run, their drinks set on the ground between my feet.

Ami had to drive faster than the speed limit so we could get to the shop on time, meanwhile I was on the phone with Bryan begging for him to keep the shop open.

"Fine. But if you guys aren't through that door in 5 minutes, I'm throwing away your drinks." He yelled at me through the phone, speaking over the loud blenders in the background.

We were there in 4.

"You shitheads are lucky." Bryan told us as he slide our drinks over the counter.

"We know." Ami replied in snarky way.

We cried out our good nights to him as we left the shop. Making our way towards the car, we watched the last vehicle leave the parking lot, ours being the very last one.

"Let's sit for a while yeah?" Ami asked me as she tapped her lid twice before popping her straw in. It was something I noticed her doing every time before drinking her boba.

"Okay sure." So we sat in the parking lot, sipping our drinks, the radio at a reasonable volume so if we were to ever start a conversation, we wouldn't need to adjust the sound.

I liked it when we sat in silence. We did it a lot without realizing it. When we watched movies, when we're driving, eating or just even cuddling in the dark. It gave me a clear mind to study her.

I started to notice and realize some things she'd do on a daily basis that I don't think she knows she does.

She likes to tie her hair up before she eats. She likes to fully open her blinds at night, but she closes them when I lay in bed with her. When she reads, she's so focused, her mouth is in a tight smile. She fumbles with her bracelet when she gets nervous, sometimes with her necklace that she had gotten from Willie. When she listens to music, she likes to blast it, so you can never call her when she has her headphones in because she will never hear you.

Right now, in the silence, I noticed she bounces her leg up and down, she was always moving. And her eyes are darting up and down the road in front of us, watching the cars.

"Bringing this classic song back, a iconic one from T. Swifty. A Love Story..." The person on the radio announced as the song began to play.

Ami's head snapped towards the radio, such eagerness showing in her eyes as she made the music louder.

She looked up to me and spoke, "This is my favorite song when I was a kid." And the song began.

Ami's voice rang through the car, matching the pitch of the song.

She started shaking her head to the beat.

Ami turned to me and paused before singing again.

So I sneak out to the garden to see you

Moving her arms around as she sang, moving in her seat. I started to sing along with her. Smiles on both of our faces.

Her eyes were shut as she sang the words, her voice mesmerizing me.

She took a breath, her head still bouncing and her eyes still squeezed shut. She looked so beautiful.

I got tired of waiting

When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said

She turned to me, her finger under my chin as she sang to me. Her mouth inches away from my face. I wanted to kiss her. She started to sing softly at the next part.

He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring

We both took a breath and looked at each other. Wide grins on our faces. Then like an electric pull, the inches between our bodies became smaller and smaller.

I felt her lips so close to mine. I was about to close the space, but then a knock on her window startled the both of us, making us jump in our seats.

She lowered down her window to be met with a police officer.

"Ma'am you gotta go home, it's not safe to stay out here at night." He pointed towards the roads.

"Okay." She whispered then rolled her window back up.

She started the engine as I placed my hand on the gear shift, but before she pressed on the gas, we looked at each other. A moment passed, and then we bursted into laughter.
