That day the sky seemed to cry endlessly. As time progressed the pattering of the rain grew heavier. It was the sky mourning for the lives that had been taken far too soon.

Sasha hugged her knees tightly against her chest as she sobbed along with the sky, leaning against the concrete gravestone. Her shoulders trembled with an endless stream of hot tears came rolling down her face.

" Y/N Ivanov,
Graduate of the 104th, A beloved
soldier who fought valiantly until
the very end. "

Connie buried his fingers deep into his pockets, averting his gaze towards the dampened soil he stood on. He inhaled sharply, "Sasha we need to go back. It's pouring out here and we could potentially catch a cold if we stay here."

"Hold on," She dug into her pocket, fishing out a loaf of bread that was completely wrapped in a white cloth. Sasha gently placed it down on top of your grave, her frown twisting up to a weak crooked smile. "I'll leave her this at least. She loved eating toast in the morning."

Connie chuckled brushing the back of his hand against his cheek, wiping the little droplets of tears on his face. "You always managed to steal a huge bite of her bread whenever you saw her eating it."

"Yeah," She whispered quietly as she felt another wave of tears rush to her eyes. "I won't steal a single bite this time Y/N, so you can eat all of it if you'd like." She lifted her gaze up, staring up into the dark sky.

"Man," Connie breathed out, wiping his sleeve over his nose. "Jean should've at least come with us to visit her grave. That idiot wouldn't come out of his room when I knocked. Her death hit him really hard, these two were like soul mates."

She nodded slowly and flicked her eyes over to her best friend. "He'll come here on his own. He just doesn't want us to see him as an emotional mess."

At that, Connie managed to push out a soft laugh. "You're probably right. Let's just go back, Y/N is probably tired of us being here. We've been here for nearly three hours."

The corners of Sasha's lips pulled up into a soft smile as the shape of her eyes became slight crescent moons. She pushed herself off the ground, padding down her long olive coat of any dirt that had managed to latch onto it.

"I'm going to go bother Niccolo for some more food."

Connie rolled his eyes, his lips quirking up into an amused grin. "Of course you will."

Hours later Jean finally dropped by the cemetery to visit your grave. In his arms he held a bouquet of yellow roses, your long coat, and a picture frame displaying a sketch he had drawn of you three years ago when you had disappeared for a long period of time.

He kneeled down in front of the concrete tombstone, carefully placing down the bouquet of roses next to the loaf of bread Sasha had left for you. Then he leaned the picture frame up against your tombstone.

Jean placed his hands over his lap, gently squeezing at the fabric of his coat. He withdrew a deep breath and pushed his lips up to a tight smile. "I promised not to cry out here Y/N. Not in front of your resting place at least. Plus, can't you see how puffy the bottom of my eyelids are? Wait— hopefully you're listening. Or I could just ramble on and on like an idiot here."

"Whatever," He looked down at his lap, at your neatly folded coat that he had brought with him. "I hope you don't mind but I want to keep this with me for a little longer, I'll leave it up in my room to remember you."

"Even the sky is crying for you." He chuckled softly extending his arm out with his palm faced up to the sky, collecting little droplets of rain.

Suddenly he remembered the reason why he chose the yellow roses. He gently wrapped his finger around the stem of one of the roses, "These yellow roses. They symbolize our friendship, I left a cheesy little note in there. Hopefully you can read it somehow. It was a little embarrassing to write something like that."

" Hey Y/N, I had to go to at least
three different flower shops to find these
perfect yellow roses for you. (So you better appreciate them) They symbolize friendship but I want to add onto that; this is a sign of our eternal friendship that I will forever remember.

I vividly remember our first hellos and first goodbyes. They were both so awkward it made me cringe, I'm sure you did the same. But look where it got us? We're practically soulmates now right? I'll miss joking around with you Y/N. "

Jean had stuck around for thirty more minutes. Pondering in silence, wondering if you were really there with him at that very moment. Listening and watching him with that beautiful smile dancing on your lips. He would miss seeing it.

"Until we meet again, my friend." He pulled your neatly folded coat close to his chest, giving a brief nod before standing back up on his feet. "Bye Y/N."

"Reiner, what the hell?" Porco called out to the blond who currently stood in front of your grave. He tousled his pale fingers through his slicked-back hair, gently tugging at a few strands. "Those Military Police guys will come back at any moment."

Reiner merely rolled at the others complaints, kneeling down on one knee. His eyes landed on the engravings of your name on the concrete. His heartbeat growing louder in the cavern of his chest. Tears welled in his eye sockets, glossing over his hazel hues. He still couldn't believe you were gone.

The only way he found out was because he had overheard a group of Survey Corps soldiers talking about those who had died during the invasion on Liberio. Upon hearing your name he wished he had misheard them, but they kept repeating your name as if it was to torture him.

"That Ivanov soldier? She was so fucking brave. It's a shame that little girl ended up killing her with a single blow to the abdomen." Soldier One deeply sighed, folding his arms over his chest.

Soldier Two nodded in agreement to what his comrade said, displaying a saddened frown on his face. "She was really something else man. To step in to save Braus's life in exchange for her own? She's a commendable soldier I'll tell you that much."

That little girl, his younger cousin, Gabi Braun. When Reiner had found out his own younger cousin had ended your life so abruptly he was at a loss for words. At first, he was infuriated to hear the soldiers make such a strong accusation. Gabi wouldn't intentionally kill you. She couldn't do that to someone she had grown so fond of despite being fooled and betrayed. But upon reevaluating what the soldiers had said, he believed them.

Gabi was a trained warrior who was ready to murder her enemies and cause bloodshed upon any of the Island devils she had learned about while training to become a warrior. She could load and shoot a gun, her aim was impeccable compared to the other candidates. She had a sharp eye.

He knew she didn't mean it.

"Yellow roses," Reiner scoffed and gently pushed the bouquet aside. In that vacant spot he placed down his bouquet of Orange Blossoms. "Those flowers are wilting, here's a fresh set of flowers for you. You deserve nothing but the best."

Hidden in between the bundle of orange flowers there was a folded little note.

" These Orange Blossoms symbolize
eternal love. Y/N, I love you. Eternally. "

Porco rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest, impatiently. "Are you done lamenting over there? What the hell.. why am I tearing up." He sighed, muttering the last part to himself.

Porco hated you of course. But he didn't hate you enough to not feel sorry for you. He didn't expect to cry over your death. He wasn't fully aware of it himself but deep down inside, he had a soft spot for you due to the kindness you've shown him.

Reiner pulled the hood of his coat further over his saturated figure, lifting his gaze to the dark gray clouds. He stayed sill for a moment to take in everything as it was. He withdrew a deep breath as the corners of his lips lifted upward into a weak smile.

"You were far too good for this world Y/N. At least you can rest east now." He whispered to himself as a lone tear traveled down the side of his face. "I love you."
