"finally!" oikawa cheered as he threw his diploma up in the air and caught it perfectly just a second later. matsukawa reeled at him before quickly taking his jacket off and sighing.

"it's time for me to go, i have an important person to meet" matsukawa said, the smile on his face was so wide, he sort of reminded oikawa of a joker.

"you sure you don't wanna join us?" kuroo said, a small smile playing on his lips. well, at least there is a smile.

"no, it's important"

"then go get him, tiger" oikawa laughed as he gave matsukawa a pat on his shoulder, the other was gone in an instant, like the wind he flew away to meet makki, or whatever his name is. not that oikawa cared much, he had other stuff on his plate. 

his eyes scanned the area as he noticed iwaizumi making his way towards oikawa, he looked just as good as ever and he was looking straight at oikawa, at him only. oikawa felt his heart skip a beat as iwaizumi approached him, without another word he pulled him into a hug, whispering sweet congratulations into his ear and making shivers run down oikawa's spine.

"so, are you ready to go?" he asked as he pulled away from oikawa, the other shot him a confused look. 

"go where?"

"to celebrate, of course" iwaizumi took oikawa's hand and placed a small kiss on it, as if he was a prince inviting his beloved for a dance of a lifetime. oikawa nodded frantically, finally, there was no need to hide. he could be himself, he could be with iwaizumi.

in the corner of his eye he spotted a familiar face, guilt wrenched his stomach. iwaizumi must have noticed as he leaned in slowly and asked oikawa whether he was okay, the other nodded, but subtly pointed at the girl standing by the trees. it was megumi. as a changed man, oikawa couldn't help but feel guilt - she seemed to genuinely like him and he broke her heart. iwaizumi sighed before smiling and pushed oikawa in megumi's direction. "go, say what you want", he said.

oikawa approached her with heavy steps, she looked up from the ground to see his face right in front of her. "hey..." oikawa said.

"oh, tooru... what is it?"

"just wanted to apologize"

"...?"

"i know what i did was bad, i played your heart and you deserve to hate me and despise me, but just know that i am truly sorry about what i did to you"

"don't worry about it, i knew what i was getting into yet i was still so hopeful. you look different and you speak different... did something change?"

"you could say i found a person... the right person for me"

"i'm happy for you two... now go, it looks like he is waiting for you!" megumi smiled and pointed at iwaizumi, who was taping his foot, waiting for oikawa to come over. the other pulled her into a quick hug and thanked her for understanding before running off to his casanova.

oikawa proudly took iwaizumi's hand and the two of them walked out of the school premises, oikawa was talking about everything and anything, while iwaizumi listened to his happy rants. somewhere in between one of the rants iwaizumi suggested going to his place to celebrate and the other gladly agreed.

without a care in mind oikawa could feel his heart finally begin to settle down - yes, this was life, this was love. that was until...

"you bastard, you really did it" a voice spoke from behind them. oikawa felt a shiver run down his spine as he turned around and saw a familiar head with bleached hair.

"terushima, what are you doing here?" oikawa panicked, he tugged on iwaizumi as if to gesture him to walk faster and drag him away.

"i cannot believe you did it, you know what i gotta congratulate you!" terushima happily skipped towards the happy couple and placed the five hundred bucks in oikawa's hand. iwaizumi was looking at them with pure confusion on his face, while oikawa could feel his knees shaking.

"no, i don't need it" he said as he tried to give it back.

"no no, you won the bet fair and square!" terushima exclaimed and winked at iwaizumi.

"what bet?" iwaizumi finally asked.

"don't listen to him" oikawa managed to say and turned back to terushima, who was smiling smugly. "take your money and leave"

"awh, you still haven't completed your steps? i'll do it for you"

"no, please"

"iwaizumi, my dear," terushima placed his hand on iwaizumi's shoulder. "you see, oikawa here..."

"terushima, stop talking right now" oikawa practically growled. but terushima just scoffed at him.

"i made a bet with oikawa. he had to make you fall for him, and as i see he won so" terushima laughed. "sorry dude, it was a bet"

iwaizumi's face dropped and oikawa could feel his heart sink to an unimaginable depth. "don't listen to him, iwa-chan! it started off as a bet yes, but---"

"it was all a bet?" iwaizumi turned to oikawa, you could see the pain in his face. oikawa opened his mouth yet no words came out. "... how could you do this to me?"

"no wait, listen to me, iwa-chan!" oikawa yelled, but it didn't seem like iwaizumi would budge.

perhaps... he needs his space for now.

he needs space to fully comprehend.

he needs to hear it all from oikawa, but not now.

right now, iwaizumi's heart was in pieces.

and he couldn't help, but let his tears flow.
