same warning as last time x

The door opened - or well, was swung open and Rug looked into the eerily dark room. Amelie stood behind Sam and Colby, watching as they followed after.

Both Amanda and Amelie raced for the door, neither wanting to be the last in, or really the first, but first was better than being in a hallway alone. Luckily for Amelie, she slipped in front of the girl, leaving them both to stumble awkwardly into the room.

Colby turned around to briefly look at the commotion behind him, but Amelie simply smiled and gave him a thumbs up.

She quickly became much more serious when Amanda tapped on her shoulder, staring at the door in shock, "Did you touch the door?"

"No..." Amelie shook her head, and walked away from the door to further prove she was in fact not touching the door. She stood between Rug and Amanda while the three men talked.

"I just want to say I did not touch the door!" Amanda said, gaining their attention as the door began to close after the two had walked in.

    "Oh, my God..."

"I went to touch it and it was closing."

The door seemed to close faster than it had before once everyone looked over, "Let's try that again." Sam mumbled, walking over and pushing it towards the wall.

"It's gotta be because it's slanted." Amanda said, making Amelie nod, "Has to be."

"So if this was like that..." Sam pushed the door back, watching as it went towards the wall at the same speed it was 'mysteriously' closing.

The mood shifted in the room, going from tense to more relaxed after debunking it. They all agreed that it was because the floor was slanted, giving themselves a peace of mind.

    "We're chilling, we're chilling! We're not haunted - yet."

After some time of further looking around the room and somewhat settling in, the five were now sat shoulder to shoulder on the double bed, squished together like a can of sardines.

Amelie had a huge smile plastered across her lips as the bed rocked back to front from the weight of five adults sat at the end of it. She considered pushing back and sitting behind Amanda and Colby, in the middle, to even it out.

"It's like a rollercoaster." Sam laughed after turning the camera back on.

"We look like we're in those universal rollercoasters that just go-" He held onto imaginary handles and rocked the bed back and forth.

    "The motion ones!"

They continued to laugh for a moment until both Sam and Colby's smile dropped and they said - in perfect sync, "All right."

Faze gasped, "Oh, you guys have said the same thing, like, ten times today."

"I think you guys spend a little too much time together." Amanda joked.

Colby - in a very serious tone of voice - said, "We sleep together, too."

    "ayo." Amelie mumbled.

timestamp, 21:19

"All right." Sam clapped once everything was set up right, "We're here to solve some true crime."

"Kate Morgan's true crime to be exact."

"This video - I feel like - is a lot like the video we did at Lizzie Bordens. It's like, we are literally sitting here trying to solve a murder case and or suicide case."

"So what is that story?" Colby asked, "How does that even start off?!"

"Hotel Del Coronado..." Said Sam in a slightly sinister voice.

He went into detail on the rich history behind Hotel Del Coronado, and everything to do with Kate Morgan herself. Every now and then Colby would add some facts in, Amanda and Faze would throw on their own stories and Amelie would ultimately stay quiet unless asking a question every now and then.

After explaining the history, and toying some of their own experiences from the night in, Sam and Colby then went on to tell their guests about the many theories surrounding Kate Morgan's death.

"The most popular believed story, right now, and what the case is saying is that a suicide. They say she was waiting for somebody over here. She got super lonely; went out there to look at the sea and killed herself." Sam explained the first theory that goes around surrounding Kate Morgan.

He then went on to talk about the second theory, "People say that the 'stomach cancer' and this pain that she kept talking to the employees about was actually a pregnancy. And they think that - not only because she was having all this stomach pain, but they found med's that were also believed to be a homemade abortion attempt; in her room."

"They found medicine that's supposed to heal, or help, like, malaria, but she didn't have malaria. So they, like, assumed that she was just trying to, like, have an abortion, pretty much." Colby further explained.

"Is that why you guys said that it's, like, rumoured that she tried to kill herself in the bathtub?" Amanda asked, making Colby nod his head, "Yes."

    "Finally... The gun was successful."

"But then it just doesn't make sense because the bullet..."

"Wasn't it, like, a different size or whatever?" Amelie asked, peeking her head around Amanda to look at the two men.

    "Exactly!"

    "So do you think-"

Colby quickly cut Faze off, pointing at the door with horror written across his face, "Did you just see that?!"

Rug was standing up and darting across the room quicker than the speed of light and Amelie had fully pushed herself back on the bed, now sitting behind where Sam was moments before he stood up and stared at the door.

"What the fuck." The girl kept repeating as Colby grabbed the camera.

"What the fuck was that?!" He asked, walking towards the door.

    "It looked like someone walking."

"But you didn't hear anything, right?" Colby asked, "It was just, like, a shadow."

    "I saw that!"

Amanda jumped up off the bed and raced towards the door, swinging it open and looking down the hallway. She walked back in, her hand on her chest, "It's that woman! It's that woman that we accidentally opened the door for."

Amelie took a deep breath and flung her feet over the side of the bed, "I almost shit myself. Oh, my God."

"But how would that cast a shadow in here?!" Sam asked, making Amelie's panic rise once more.

    "I have no idea."

"And it wasn't- It was so silent too."

"It looked like it was in the room."

"We saw that at the exact same time."

"My whole heart is pounding." Amanda gasped.

Sam started to laugh, "You jumped up so fast!"

"Dude, I'm sorry." Rug laughed along, still holding the back of his head, "I saw something out of the corner of my eye and didn't say anything, and then you said something and I was gone. My instinct was to just jump."

"You left me and Amelie." Amanda laughed.

"I'm sorry for not protecting you."

"You should be." Amelie joked, finally standing up off the bed after everything has calmed down.

"Should I, like, try walking by and see if you see anything?" Rug asked.

    "Yeah, maybe."

Colby turned around to face the door, when Amelie noticed he went to turn off the light she coughed awkwardly, "Is it a bad time to say I'm afraid of the dark?"

There was a chorus of, "Amelie!" That echoed around the room.

"It's a dark haunted room and you expect me not to be afraid?!"

Colby turned the light off, making Amelie roll her eyes, but stand up straighter, suddenly on high alert.

"Yo, chill!" Faze shouted when Colby turned the light off, making him switch it back on, "Okay, I'm extra jumpy today because this is, like, really scary. I'm just gonna walk by." He said after opening the door to walk outside.

After a moment, he walked by the door, but it wasn't like what had happened before. This time you could clearly see his feet moving whereas the last time it was like the period was floating.

"It wasn't like that!" Colby repeated over and over again and you could hear the panic in his voice.

"No freaking way! It was not like that."

Colby tried to explain what it was like before, hru couldn't get the words out as Sam ran over to let Rug in.

"It wasn't like that, though. You could clearly see your footsteps." Colby told him, "What we saw looked like a huge shadow just floating across."

timestamp, 28:07

Amelie was currently lying on her back staring up at the ceiling. After many, many attempts at debunking it off camera, they couldn't. She had her arms and legs stretched out in a starfish position until Amanda hopped on the bed in front of her, making the girl sit up and scramble to sit beside her.

"Alright!" Colby turned the camera back on as everyone else sat back down on the bed, "We are all getting situated after almost shitting ourselves."

"As someone who makes haunted videos, you'd think that I wouldn't get scared, but I'm terrified."

"Dude, that was huge!" "That was terrifying."

"And it was big enough for us to all be focused on the camera and see it out of the corner of our eyes."

"Yeah, 'cause I was looking this way." Faze said, pointing towards the camera, directing in front of them.

Amanda turned around, catching Amelie's attention, the two girls made eye contact as she asked, "Did you hear that hissing?"

"Amanda!" Amelie said, grabbing onto Faze's arm as he stood up and prayed for the girl to stop, "Stop! Stop, Amanda!"

    "The hissing?"

"Is that what it sounded like?"

Amelie nodded, "Yes! I was trying to ignore until your ass piped up!"

"I don't know! I-I didn't- My mind is going all over the place." He sat back down, still holding the sides of his face, "You heard hissing?"

    "It sounded like- Tsss."

"I thought you were, like, whispering in my ear!"

"Was it an exhale?" Colby suddenly asked, "Was it me?"

timestamp, 28:44

"Right when we're talking about this conspiracy. The first one's suicide, The second one is creepy when we just saw a shadow right when we were talking about it."

"Thomas, himself, the husband, was coming out to kill her because - if you don't remember -- she had an affair with this guy named Albert. She was pregnant and so, either one or two things; she was trying to escape from him to hotel Del Coronado, found where she was staying and ended up murdering her." Colby explained.

"Which kind of makes sense because why else would she buy a gun for protection?"

"I believe in that conspiracy." Faze confessed.

Colby nodded, "That's what I think, too. - Or, another big thing with Thomas is that they were still in communication with each other. Uh, Kate, Thomas, and they decided to meet here, and so she kind of left everybody behind. And under a fake name came here, so that they can kinda try and figure out, like, their differences in this hotel and it didn't work out and he ended up murdering her. So either they were in communication or not, but he murdered her."

"Also," Sam said, "I wanted to point out, again. Remember on her way over to the west coast, they had a fight so badly that he abandoned her. Something was making them headbutt so bad-"

"- That they were already arguing." Colby cut him off momentarily.

"So if they would have met up again... Who knows what would have happened."

"And honestly, something as bad as, like, your fucking wife sleeping with your step-brother... That's like- Oh, my God! What?!"

"There's so many loose ends that tell me it's probably not as simple as just a suicide."

"Yeah. I mean, she was lying for a reason. If she was out to, like, kill herself, wouldn't she just... do it? Why'd she have to come here to do it?"

After that, Sam then went onto talk about what happened after the murder/ suicide took place. Both he and Colby talked about a letter the woman had written - or well, letters. There were many letters written at Kate's stay, but only one left not burned.

The letter seemed very, very sketchy if you were to ask Amelie, seeing as it only had a few words and then.

I know no such man

timestamp, 33:13

Once the history had been fully discussed, they had all ventured downstairs to continue on the investigation and to actually look around the hotel. They all somehow needed up in the hallway of which the door had mysteriously opened hours before.

"What's in there?" Sam asked Amanda as the girl opened a random door along the hallway.

She peaked into the room, "It's just... chairs."

Sam slipped past the girl and walked into the room. The others just stared at him as he walked around for a moment, before turning his body to face them, "There's nothing in here."

"Imagine the door is, like, open." Colby mumbled as they all stepped out of the room.

"And now it's completely stayed closed the whole time. What made it open last time?"

After walking further up the hallway, towards the door, Faze pointed up at the camera, "I feel like these cameras are recording in, like, 144p. You know what I mean? There's no way that's HD." As he was saying that, the door behind Colby opened, leaving all their jaw's dropped.

"No fucking way!" Colby shouted, walking away from the door grabbing onto Amelie's arm who was already two steps ahead of him, behind Sam.

    "Just as we were talking!"

    "Dude, the camera heard you..."

     "There is no way... what?"

"it's saying we should go down here..." Sam said as they reluctantly walked down the hallway, "The door opened for us, so it's the ghosts' fault, not ours!"

"It feels like being on a cruise ship..." Faze said after a few minutes of trying to find anything other than chairs no one cared about.

"I was literally feeling the same thing!"

They all walked further down the hall, peaking around every bend and then, trying to find anything that caught their attention. Everything seemed mediocre and uninteresting until they walked down a small corridor that revealed a huge ballroom type area.

"Oh, wow..." Amelie mumbled underneath her breath, taking in the room.

"Should we make a run for it?" Sam asked, pointing to the opposite side to where they were standing, "All the way across? Let's XPLR this bitch! Get the merch in bio."

They did in fact not make a run for it. Sam walked a little bit ahead, while the other four trailed behind him, making light conversations.

"This just makes us look more sketchy."

"We're just looking for a bathroom..." Colby said as an excuse for them being there.

timestamp, 34:21

"Is someone coming?" Sam asked after they had left the ballroom area and were now walking down a slight of stairs.

"Yeah, definitely." Colby agreed as the footsteps grew closer.

Both girls looked at each other, "We're so gonna die." Amelie mumbled, making Amanda laugh.

As they were 'quietly' walking across, out of the corner of her eye, Amelie saw someone walk behind them, and it seemed like Amanda did too. The two both looked back, each making eye contact with a stranger before quickly looking back ahead of themselves.

"I'm just looking for the bathroom..." The man uttered, using the same excuse Colby was about to say.

The group burst out laughing, not at the man, but at his choice of words, "That's exactly what you said we should say!"

"I heard his, like, rainbow flip-flops and I was like, we're safe." Amanda said once the man was out of earshot.

timestamp, 34:55

Amelie ran a hand through her hair after she had sprinted across the ballroom. She leaned over trying to catch her breath.

They had all heard an employee walk around as they were making their way back into the main part of the hotel. And while the others were practically trying to melt into the wall, Amelie had decided it was probably after to just sprint across and hid behind a pillar.

She peaked her head around the pillar and had to stop herself from falling to her knees with laughter as she saw both Sam and Rug's horrified expression as they ran towards where she was standing. Amanda and Colby followed straight after.

"Am's was smart. She fucking..." Colby made a 'whizz' sound while pointing his finger in front of himself.

"Dude, we know Amelie's fight of flight only involves flight." Sam said, making Amelie's laughter die down quickly.

The girl stopped walking, leaving the smiling blond to point the camera at her, "Listen... I don't appreciate being called out like this."

timestamp, 35:53

"We are here at the first location we're going to investigate the Kate Morgan case at the south Veranda." Colby introduced, "This is where she went around midnight or so... to look at the ocean while there was a storm going on. So the storm was coming in from the north. She came out around here, and that's when somebody saw her at midnight before... she killed herself."

"So the bellman was the one who saw her here on the Veranda." Sam spoke once Colby had finished up, "but, he thought it was weird because she came to the south-side. Which is completely opposite to where her room was at. And then, why would she come here if she's just going to go over and kill herself on the north side?"

"Unless, she just wanted to say goodbye to, like, mother nature one last time."

"So we were just in her room. She must have left her room, came here at the south Veranda which is this little thingy right there because... music." Sam pointed out the window, "Looked out there, which is the ocean and then would proceed to the north steps. Which I think we should go to next."

"Yes! Let's try and retrace her steps."

timestamp, 38:44

Amelie genuinely didn't know how Sam and Colby managed to do it. Like earlier on before, when they got one of the bellmen to tell them stories and his own personal experience within the hotel, they somehow did it again.

Now, this time was slightly different seeing as Faze was also to help for it, but that wasn't the point.

An employee that had been there the last time Rug had stayed there years prior had agreed to take the group on a small tour of the hotel and tell them his own stories and experiences.

"I had a small group like yours and as we were walking out, they stopped. They said they saw people walking by - there's two people. One person had no shadow and another person had three." The worker said, scaring the absolute hell out of the group.

There was a chorus of confusion until Sam turned to Amanda, "Have you ever experienced anything like that?" He asked.

Amanda shook her head no, "I've never seen anything like that."

"I've had people walking around in a kind of delirium." The employee said before directing his next question to Faze, "Do you remember the hallway?"

    "I remember the hallway."

"So, I've sent people there and I've had one family disappear; they came back, but they don't remember how they got back."

"What?" Colby gasped, "Wait, which hallway was this? Was it the fifth?"

"Yes... Actually, I'll show you guys."

Amelie's smile dropped immediately, leaving the girl to look between Sam, Colby and the worker like a deer in headlights. When everyone else started following after the man, Amelie very reluctantly followed after. No matter how many times she had walked up and down the hallway, now knowing a story about someone in it, she almost didn't want to.

"I don't want to go back there!" Faze cried, crossing his arms against his chest. Amelie nodded in agreement.

"I've said a lot of things in my life..." The worker said after a moment, "But that was one of the most intense ones I've experienced because I can't get past it. To this day, I will avoid that hallway if I have to."

"And you're going to take us there right now?"

     Without hesitation he answered, "Yes..."

timestamp, 40:40

"I'll follow you up the hallway to a certain distance after that I will wait for you to come back." Explained the man as he led them up to the fifth floor.

    "Oh, fuck."

"And why is that?" Sam asked, not trying to pry, but also trying to pry.

"I don't like it there." He said nonchalantly, leaving them in a state of confusion.

"I'm so nervous, right now." Amanda laughed.

Amelie agreed, "My stomach is, like, flipping."

"I'm telling you, man, my heart is pounding." Colby said as the tour guide let out a sigh, "I'm getting scared."

Sam suggested that they stop when he noticed how stressed out the man in front of them looked.

After a moment of pacing, the man stopped, "I don't have the best memories of it at all. I'll tell you what happened. I was doing the nightly routine and there's this hallway. Right there." He pointed in front of them, "So, it doesn't dead end, it veers off to the left, and there's a second section..." He stared down the hallway for a moment before sighing, "All right, let's go."

"Oh," Amelie mumbled, "You don't have to go." She assured him, but the man shook his head as if to say it's fine.

"We don't have to do this." Sam told him again.

"Something as traumatising as what he's about to explain, like, I wouldn't be walking down these hallways - at all."

"We don't even know what he's experienced, yet."

"It's that door." The man's voice broke as he pointed towards a door after they turned to the left.

"This door right here?" Sam asked, taking a few steps closer, "It looks open."

    "Wait, is it?"

     "It's open."

The man ran a hand over his head before explaining the full story, "I'm standing right in front of another room - just like this. Stack of bills, number. I slipped the bill underneath, and I walk away. Totally different section... Only I'm still standing here. And I haven't moved. And I don't know why. So i'm like okay. Slipped the bill underneath - a second time - And I walk away, out to a new section. I'm standing in front of a new room. I'm in the right spot, i'm getting ready to slip the bill underneath the door. And i'm still standing here."

    "Right here?" Sam asked.

    The man nodded, "Again."

Amelie's brows furrowed in confusion, "What the fuck?"

"So was it only when you looked down and looked back up?" Colby asked.

"No, I just- I don't remember. I can't recall it. I know that I leave, I don't know how I come back." He explained, "And it's a cycle that repeats over and over again and I know at one point I leave, but I'm not moving anywhere. I'm just here. For an hour and a half."

The fact that it was for an hour and a half shocked everyone, and you could tell by the fact everyone collectively gasped.

"I've never heard of this." Colby mumbled.

"So, my co-workers were looking for me." He then pointed to the wires connected to his ear, "I'm usually connected up to them, but by the time I got out, which, bear in mind, I had to walk out of the building to, like, really grasp on some straws and that was when I was really able to get out."

"I think that I.... I think that my body was here, but I was elsewhere."

timestamp, 43:44

"Not even a coincidence, or anything." Sam said after they had finally walked away and discussed what the man had said, "I got a really bad headache over there."

    "Actually?"

"Yeah. Like piercing. Like the headaches I usually get whilst editing. I've not had that all night or like... All week even."

"So I sent people down there before. One family, they ended up in different areas, and they don't remember how they got there. And i've had other people experience a very similar feeling." He explained, "Also, just above there, there's a story of that in one of those rooms two maids had hung themselves in the closet."

"Right above that area over there..."

"What?" Colby blew out a breath as Amelie covered her mouth.

"I also thought it was kinda coincidental, but I've seen things in my life, I've tried to open up my doors." He was silent for a moment, "I wouldn't recommend it unless you are prepared for it."

"And why do you say that?" Sam asked as the employee started to walk backwards and away from that area.

"I know it's a weird analogy." He warned them as they all followed him,  "But it's like a flashlight - and I'm stealing this from a movie. If you ever look at a flashlight when it focuses, it's very narrow, only a little bit can come in. As you're opening it up your scope opens up and you let more in.

"When I was younger, I was curious enough to try to open up my doors. More things came in that I was not really prepared for. Not all of them were good. Actually, a lot of them weren't."

"Does that mean the more places we go, the more that's gonna happen to us?" Colby asked Sam, "If we're not careful." The boy replied.

"Yes." The worker interrupted, "I'm telling you right now, yes. That's what happens." He said, walking down the stairs and leaving the group to all stare at each other, jaws dropped.

"When you go looking for things... They find you." He warned them, "It's not just, "Oh, this was kinda cool, let's go look for more." It's, "Okay, you look for more, you knock on the right doors and someone's going to open one up to you."

"I just got chills." Sam interrupted, showing them his arm, "Holy shit."

"I've had chills since we were down that hallway." Faze said.

"You just have to be careful what doors you are opening because not all of them are pleasant."

"The thing with the Ouija board is there's different interpretations of it over the course of, like, human history. If you call on the wrong thing, though, and they notice you and pay attention to you. Even when you're not looking, it doesn't mean they're not looking at you." He said, sending chills up and down Amelie's back.

The girl took a step closer to Amanda, knowing if anyone here was able to 'protect' her, it would be Amanda.

"There's something that I refer to as the 'frequency set' you understand, like, a dog whistle, right? In a dog whistle, it works very basic; the dog can hear it, but you can't, and the reason being, biologically speaking, you're not built to hear that frequency. So when you hear something, but you don't see it; the thing is, you did hear it. That's the reality. It's just something that passed through that right set of frequencies so that your brain can interpret it. So when you touch something - at least to my understanding - you're passing spacial barrier. Do you understand?" He asked, but all Amelie could do was gawk at him, trying to take in all the information that was being thrown at her.

"And this is getting more into, like, physics. You're made up of atoms and these atoms are collected and clustered into bunches and cells and molecules and everything that makes you, you. When you pass on, depending on whatever faith it is that you believe in, doesn't mean that there isn't anything else beyond that. That stuffs gotta go somewhere, like we don't know where our consciousness is yet. Your consciousness goes somewhere when you die... sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it sticks around, and then there are other things that blend beyond that and if you reach and contact those things it's like a hot wire, right? You need the two connections. You're one connection, and the other one's the other connection and you came to name it, you can call it whatever you want or whatever you think it is or they can tell you what it is. But you better hope it's not bad because the bad ones are serious."

Amelie was still staring at him in a trance-like state as Sam spoke up, "So, let's say we're trying to form a connection to something in this hotel, specifically Kate Morgan - if you believe that she haunts this. Do you think it's possible?"

"I wouldn't recommend it..." He said, and upon seeing their confusion, he continued, "Why would you think she's nice? Why is there an assumption that she is nice?"

That snapped Amelie out of it, making her jaw drop as she looked across to Colby who was also looking at her with the same wide eyed expression.

"We've only got a few minutes, we better do it now!"

"The only things that will follow you home are the things that you allow to."

Sam cheered as he turned the camera towards Amanda, recalling what she had said before, "I said that!"

"So I'm not gonna allow them to follow me home..."

     "We're gonna be fine."

"Especially with Amanda here!" Sam said.

i ended up splitting it again (double update im not cruel) because i know my ass would not be able to sit through a seven thousand word chapter. no body got time for that. whereas if it's split i always feel like it's a shorter amount of time.

i didn't have time to make an edit for colbys birthday 😭 but anyway
