catboy ||kuroken|| [part 1]

note about requests: i apologize in advance to people whose requests i have taken.

writing a one-shot based on someone's request is really hard for me, so i treat it more like inspiration. your request inspires me, but it might be different from what you originally requested and i'm sorry.

i want to give you guys quality that has a lot of work put into it instead of something that i had to push myself to write that lacks my originality and my insight.

i will be showing comments that inspired me for everyone to see what the original idea was and for me to thank the person for inspiring something. i hope you don't mind.

thank you. onto the one-shot now.

"any leads?"

"what am i? the cat boy research board on the deep web?"

kuroo scoffed as he glared at bokuto who was busy rearranging his documents. "you could be. i'd like that"

"i know you would and i don't understand why" bokuto glanced at kuroo who had his legs resting comfortably on the table, his jacket unbuttoned as if he had no cares in this world, his hair a mess (as always), and his eyes now closed, probably daydreaming about catboys.

"many reasons, my friend. many reasons" he said calmly.

"they are an invasive species, kuroo! if anything they should be terminated or contained to their own original area" these words made kuroo open up his eyes and glare at bokuto with such ferocity that he could feel kuroo's gaze burning through his suit.

"don't you dare say that. they are precious." he growled.

"they might be, but due to humans interfering too much, they've traveled to towns and became part of our society. they are not humans, they are not supposed to be here, they are a danger to society" bokuto tried to sound convincing, but he had lost hope a long time ago - kuroo has been talking about nothing but catboys for the past three months.

it all started during a simple routine mission to an abandoned warehouse. bokuto and kuroo, a team of special agents working for the most secure and secret part of the government in the world were tasked with checking up on the location.

there were rumors of convicted felons, mass murderers, and other terrible, no-good, absolute trash type of people hiding in the warehouse, though the reality was quite different. the moment they stepped into the dark building, they could feel eyes on them - many many eyes watching their every movement.

kuroo raised his gun, he fired a warning shot to scare whatever was hiding in there into the daylight. what feel from the support beam above was a wounded boy - kuroo had accidentally shot a catboy in the leg - he couldn't believe it himself.

there on the ground in front of them was a wounded boy, cat ears sticking right out of his head and a tail, now wrapped around his leg, showed signs of great distress. he whimpered as he tried to stop the bleeding while the other two others stared at him in disbelief.

though they had completely different things in their heads.

bokuto was appalled. the catboys have made it into mainland japan. they were no longer a thing from beyond the seas, no, they were here which meant that humans could be in danger. what if they go into the cities? what will happen if they incorporate themselves into the culture and into the society? the japan as he knew could fall.

kuroo, meanwhile, felt his heart skip a beat. there was something so...cute? so cute about these catboys, the way their ears would perk up or the way their tails could show their real emotions, how they would act like cats but in human form - kuroo loved them. he cherished them. and he had been trying to get a hold of a catboy mission for a while now.

he wanted one.

he wanted to have a catboy. they were neither human nor animal - they were a mystery that was not understood. what bad things have they done to humans? absolutely nothing. as a completely different species, yes, they couldn't bring offspring - some people were mad about the population drop. that's what started the whole catboy investigation anyway.

in one of the countries, starting with rural areas, the population growth dropped. there was also a rise in deaths, which kuroo believes are completely unrelated. upon investigation the first center of catboys was found - and from the very start, when he first saw one on camera - kuroo wanted one. they are... just so cute.

after shooting that one unfortunate boy in the leg, kuroo tried to get them to let him take care of it,  but the agency refused - kuroo has no idea where he is being kept and what they have done to him. so, he has been on the lookout, anyone suspicious or anyone that in kuroo's eyes was a bit too cute could be a catboy.

he especially found it cute that catboys, just like normal cats, have distinct colour schemes and features to them. the one he accidentally wounded was a simple orange tabby type, those were the most common ones. kuroo had to admit from all of the research that he had done that calico type catboys were the most adorable.

"anyway, you're no fun lately, i'm gonna go" kuroo sighed as he stood up from his chair and walked past bokuto who simply scoffed at him.

"i'm no fun? you've been thinking of illegal activities" bokuto started saying, catching kuroo's attention just for a bit, but before he could say more kuroo slammed the door behind him - he didn't want to listen to any catboy slander.

it was already pretty late, the buses no longer ran and kuroo had not taken his car today, though, that was not a problem. a walk late at night was a piece of cake for kuroo, he was armed and also good at protecting himself - who wouldn't want to take a walk on this peaceful night? well, maybe women, but that's a whole other issue.

as he made his way down an empty street with only street lights to keep him company, his mind wandered off to vast fields of thoughts about work. that's mostly what he is doing anything. he had no work tomorrow, which was good? he hadn't had a free day in a while. maybe he should do some cleaning? catch up on a show he likes? many things.

as he was daydreaming about his leisure time he accidentally bumped into someone, throwing that someone onto the ground. his eyes fell on a smaller figure on the sidewalk, rushing to get up but failing due to a freshly scraped knee.

"oh my, i'm so sorry are you okay?" kuroo asked as he extended his hand to help the other person, but they just nodded frantically before trying to get up by themselves again. "please let me help"

"no need" they spoke in a quiet voice. as they finally stood up and dusted the dirt off of their shorts kuroo couldn't help but think about who in their right mind would be dressed in shorts, t-shirt and a cap this late at night. it was chilly.

"are you really okay? you scraped your knee, let me at least help you with that" kuroo tried to speak in a nicer tone, but the figure once again shook their head.

"no need, i have to go" they said. as the figure turned around, something inside kuroo made him grab onto the wrist of this person. the reaction was too quick and strong. he would have wanted to at least gently take the wrist, but he ended up grabbing it and pulling the figure towards himself.

in the process of having their wrist grabbed and the fear that had already settled in, the person panicked... dropping their cap involuntarily.

there in the street light, kuroo watched as two cat ears emerged from under the cap. the light finally travelled to the figure's face too showcasing the most adorable features kuroo had seen in his entire life, from a cute small nose, to slightly curled lips. and of course, the eyes. two big golden eyes staring at him.

in fear.

"you're a catboy..." kuroo whispered and watched as the boy flinched. he quickly dug into his pocket, showing the boy his work id as the special agent. "there is no need to be afraid, please let me help you"

"help me? you're going to kill me!" the boy panicked as he tried to break free.

"no. the others will kill you. i want to help you. please. trust me" kuroo looked straight into the boy's eyes. the other must have seen something in them because he relaxed just slightly. "let me treat your knee, okay?" he watched as the boy nodded, his ears still sticking out.

kuroo promptly picked up the cap and handed it to him. "what's your name?" he asked. he boy put on the cap and sighed. "you don't have to tell me now, but..."

"kenma... i'm kenma" he said quietly.

"well, kenma, nice to meet you. let's go, let me treat you" kuroo gave kenma a smile, though he didn't expect kenma to follow him so voluntarily. the moment he let go of his wrist, kuroo thought kenma would run, but no. he was walking next to kuroo, trying to match his footsteps.

the walk was quiet, and thankfully not long - kuroo had so much he wanted to ask. as they walked into the building and into the elevator taking them to kuroo' penthouse apartment - kuroo could see kenma beginning to relax even more. there must be a reason why he was out so late and why he seemed to be rushing.

"go sit on the sofa, i'll bring the first aid kit" kuroo pointed at the sofa as they walked into the penthouse. kenma stood around shyly at first, but eventually made it to the soft sofa, he stretched his limbs, wincing just slightly at his injured knee.

kuroo came back fast enough, he got to work immediately making sure to treat the injury well.

"why... aren't you bringing me to the agency?" kenma asked out of the blue.

"i don't see a reason to" kuroo answered simply.

"what do you mean? i mean, i'm a catboy... you people hate us..."

"i don't. i think..." kuroo looked up at kenma. "i think you're adorable"

as kuroo said that, blood rushed to kenma's cheeks. he averted his gaze quickly. kenma sighed before taking his cap off, exposing his cute ears that kuroo couldn't help but fawn over. oh, the colors. black, white, orange and brown - he was a calico type.

kenma's cheeks were flushed red as this seemingly serious man who clearly had all of the rights to arrest him on this very spot was gently wrapping a bandage around his knee, his big, but soft hands were carefully holding kenma's leg up, not squeezing it or anything.

"adorable? but i'm.... not even that cute" kenma let out a sad chuckle.

"who said that? i think you are the cutest catboy i have ever seen" kuroo lifted his head and smiled at kenma, his smile melted away all the doubts kenma had had. he could see it in his eyes - kuroo wasn't lying. he wouldn't just suddenly betray him. perhaps... it's okay to trust him?

"... thank you for taking care of my wound... i should go now" kenma spoke, but kuroo placed his hands on kenma's thighs. he was still kneeling on the ground, looking up at kenma and his gorgeous face.

"stay here."

"what?"

"it's dangerous out there"

"but..."

"do you have family that is waiting for you?"

the question went right through kenma's heart. no one was waiting for him. he shook his head.

"then... stay here. i will protect you"
