valerie casblancas felt as though she couldn't breath. she was an idiot. an absolute idiot.

she didn't know this man. they've had maybe ten conversations in the past two weeks — okay perhaps she did know him, but that wasn't the point. there point was, she felt like she was gonna throw up because she got a message from him two minutes ago saying he was outside her apartments and getting ready to get in the elevator.

after spraying countless wafts of perfume, looking in the small mirror by the hall door several times to make sure her hair looked fine and that her eyeliner hadn't ran or that the blushed lipliner hadn't smudged, or switching shoes from boots, to heels, to slip ons and then finally settling into a pair of black chuck taylor's that were so worn down the white soles had turned a grey and they had worn down at least two centimetres, two loud knocks echoed from the door.

her eyes went wide even though she knew exactly who it was. she paced up and down the hallway for an appropriate amount of time so it wouldn't look like she had waited right by the door before swinging the door open.

a large smile took its place on her lips once her eyes fell upon the brunette in front of her. finally, she let out that breath she felt like she couldn't even take in.

    "hi," she whispered — not sure why she was whispering as the loudest thing in her apartment was the speaker that usually placed 24/7 on a low dial.

    elijah's lips quirked upwards, for a split second he fumbled over his words, unable to speak,  "hi,"

how sweet.

    "do you, um— do you wanna come in?" she asked after a moment, only realising he must have been exhausted.

    "no— well, yeah, obviously! but... i'm here for three days and tomorrow i'm gonna be locked away in a studio and i won't be able to leave. you said not to forget about your very cozy apartment and i'm not... i just know i'd rather spend the whole day outside rather than inside."

"so, you don't wanna see what i have set up?" she asked, knowing damn well there was nothing changed about her apartment compared to the last time he'd been there.

elijah seemed conflicting, "of course i do, but come on. don't ruin the fun."

she narrowed her eyes, unable to contain a smile, "fine." she grumbled, grabbing her coat from behind the door along with her keys that sat on the small table inches from the front door.

"let's go!"
