chapter 38, getting the boys back.

Evelyn had wandered to the betting shop when she woke up in the hopes of finding Rory or the boys but instead she found neither of the three people who was looking for. She knocked on the door and Esme opened it to see the girl with puffy red eyes as if she'd been crying.
"What happened?" the woman asked.
"My uh, my mum kicked me out," she said with a dry chuckle.
Esme looked confused, "What? Why?"
"She made me choose between staying here or going to London with her because she doesn't like how much time I'm spending here with the Shelby's, she thinks you're all bad news," Evelyn explained. "And Lou just sat there in silence, didn't stop her or anything."
"And who did you pick?" Pol asked coming up behind Esme.
"Finn, Rory, Frey, Lots, John, Esme, you all of you, you're all my family now, you've been more like my family than she has. Esme you've been more like a mum to me than her and John's been more of a dad to me than my own," she replied and Pol smiled.
"Where are you going to stay if she's kicked you out?" Esme asked.
The girl shrugged, "I don't know, I'll figure something out."
"You're moving in with us," Esme told her not taking no for an answer amd pulled her inside and into a hug.
"But-"
"No buts, we'll make room for you. You can stay in Rory's room with her," she told her and kissed her forehead.
"Thank you," she whispered.
After a few moments of Pol and Ada looking at each other to see if they both saw the parallels between Evelyn and Lilian. The two pulled away from the hug and Evelyn asked, "Where's Rory?"
Esme had a smirk on her face, "You'll never guess."
"Isaiah's?" she replied instantly wiping the smirk of the woman's face.
"Yep," she nodded and they both smiled.

It had been god knows how many hours since the boys had been taken and Rory woke up in an unfamiliar room with something heavy laid on top of her stopping her from getting up. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and looked around the room. The girl saw a mirror sitting on the desk at the bottom of the bed so naturally she craned her neck to see her hair stuck up everywhere and the face of the heavy thing laid on top of her.
"Isaiah," she whispered shaking him.
No reply, not even a grunt or anything.
"Siah," she shook him again, again not response.
"For fuck sake, Zi. Wake up I need to go back to the betting den and see if Henry's back," she said loud enough for him to groan in response.
"Too early."
She laughed, "you sound like me. Seriously though I need to go home and get changed, brush my teeth and go back to the betting den" she told him as she laid back down looking down at him as he stared at her with his face resting on his arms which were resting across her stomach.
"Then get up and I'll walk you," he told her his voice slightly deeper due to it being the morning.
She stared at him blankly. "You're laid on top of me. I physically can't move," she stated and watched him chuckled.
"Oh, yeah sorry."
He got off of her and made his way to get his clothes, "You can use the spare toothbrush in the bathroom if you want then you only need to get changed."
She nodded, "Okay."
They made their way into the bathroom where she sat on the toilet seat waiting for Isaiah to pass her the toothbrush and toothpaste. He put the toothpaste on his toothbrush and then put the toothbrush in his mouth to hold it and past the spare toothbrush to Rory along with the toothpaste.
Once they brushed their teeth, Isaiah ran back to his room to get Rory's dress and cardigan from the night before and passed them to her as she got dressed in the bathroom.
As she exited the bathroom, Jeremiah stood in-front of her confused, "Rory? What are you doing here?"
She froze and hoped that Isaiah would come to her rescue once again which he did as soon as he heard his dad's voice. "Esme told her to stay here last night because she didn't want her to be in the house alone since everyone is looking for Henry and Charlie," he replied.
Jeremiah nodded, "Oh right." The two teens rushed back into the boy's room.
Rory passed Isaiah his shirt and he tossed it onto his bed and they made their way downstairs, so they could go to Rory's.
On their way, they saw Louise, who looked the two up and down with a smirk, "Finally admitted your feelings for each other then?"
Rory's face flushed red and Isaiah smirked, "not exactly" he told her as Rory kept a tight grip on his hand.
"Where are you two off to?" Louise asked.
"Mine so I can get changed" Rory replied.
Her aunt nodded, "Have they found Henry and Charlie yet?"
"I don't know I'll find out when I get to the betting shop," she told her.
Louise nodded, "Well, it's good to see you. I don't see you that often anymore but I'll let you get off and see your brother."
"You're still my aunt Lou," the girl reminded her. "You can still see me whenever you want."
"I know," she reached out and squeezed the girls shoulder with a smile.
She walked off in the direction of her house with a basket of food in hand and Rory noticed it was the same way as Lilian's apartment and she assumed the woman was going to see the redhead.
On the way to the shop Freya and Lottie left the stables and saw the two of them walking towards the shop. "Since when do them two like each other?" Lottie asked Freya, walking behind them.
"Since Tom's wedding and before that actually," Freya replied.

"Rory?" Esme called standing up.
"Yeah it's me and 'Siah don't worry," she called back shutting the door.
"And us!" Freya called, hanging her coat up.
"What are you doing here? I thought you went back to your mums," Rory asked the girl sitting on her mums desk.
"I did but she kicked me out," she told her.
"She did what?" Freya asked, standing beside the girl at the desk.
"Eh what? Why? Because of us and our last name?" Rory asked, knowing that Maggie didn't like them as she had expressed on multiple occasions both behind their backs and to their faces.
"Yeah," she admitted looking down with a shrug.
"So what are you going to do? Like where are you staying?" the blonde asked again.
"With us, in your room," Esme answered for the girl and watched her daughter smile.
"Seriously?"
"Yeah," Evelyn replied jumping down from Esme's desk.
Rory engulfed the girl in a hug which was broken apart by the brunette girl suddenly gasping. "You stayed at Isaiah's last night," she whispered because Isaiah was stood leaning against the door.
The blonde girl didn't say anything instead pulled the girl and her aunt by their arms while Freya pulled Lottie with her and into the other room so they could talk leaving Isaiah with Pol, Esme and Ada. "Where did you sleep? What did you do? Did you kiss? Did-" Evelyn asked excited.
"Slow down," Rory laughed.
"Yes please do," Freya cringed. "I already saw them kissing once, do I actually have to listen to this?"
"Not if you don't want to," Eve shrugged.
"I want to hear it so you can go and interrogate Isaiah by yourself," Lottie shrugged Freya's hand of her shoulder.
"I slept in his bed-"
"In your dress?" Evelyn asked confused.
"In one of his shirts," Rory replied.
Evelyn wiggled her eyebrows with a smile, "What did you do?"
"I'm going!" Freya announced, cringing and closing the door behind her.
"She's so dramatic," Lottie rolled her eyes.
"Kissed," Rory replied sheepishly looking at the table finding a great interest in the old wooden thing.
Evelyn squealed. "Fucking finally." she shouted.
"Evelyn language!" Esme scolded from the other room.
"Sorry Esme," she called as the girls looked at each other before bursting into laughter.
"So that was all you did kissed and slept in the same bed?" Evelyn asked looking at Rory who nodded, "Yes."

Rory didn't know how long it had been since the boys had been taken and she'd dared not to ask. All she knew was it was dark again. Rory, Evelyn and Isaiah were in mid conversation when Rory stopped to ask, "Can anyone else hear a car?"
Isaiah was sat on a chair with Rory sat on his lap and his arm wrapped loosely around her middle and Evelyn sat opposite them while Freya and Lottie sat on Lizzie's desk.
Ada looked towards her niece and then she peered out the window of the office.
"Polly it's Michael!" Ada shouted as Polly pushed her out of the way.
Michael pushed the door open with his foot, trying to quieten the two toddlers he had in his arms. Henry looked exhausted and Charlie looked frightened, but both children were completely unharmed.
Henry ran up to Rory who picked him up and cuddled him before handing him over to Esme while Ada scooped Charlie up in seconds as Polly fussed over the boy.
There was something wrong with Michael. The outline of his face had dried blood on it and his eyes were as wide as saucers as he smiled disturbingly. The sight was terrifying for even Rory to stomach.
"Michael, what did you do?" Pol asked as she touched his cheek.
"Rory!" Henry squealed as he leapt from his mothers arms and back to his sister.
"You're not allowed to wander off like that, you scared me, mummy and daddy," Rory told the toddler even though he had no idea what she was going on about.
Michael didn't utter a word, just smiled. Polly pulled him into a hug as she came to the conclusion over what he had done.
"How is he? Is he okay?" Ada asked Rory who checked Henry over for any bruises and finding none and nodded her head. "He's fine. How's Charlie?"
"Fine," Ada nodded.
They turned around to see Michael walking out of the door without saying a word.
"He killed that priest," Polly admitted. "I can tell. He did more than shoot him".
Rory stood up and Isaiah held onto Henry while the girl went to go get her sister who was stirring in her sleep while Esme spoke to the other two adults.
"Wait, if the kids are safe we don't need to blow up the train anymore?" Freya asked, realised looking between Pol and Ada.
Evelyn had stood up to get another chair for Rory and Flo and placed the chair next to Isaiah.
Flo opened her eyes and smiled at her big brother and Henry jumped to hug her taking Isaiah by surprise so he grabbed onto him
"Wait, what? Who's blowing up a train?" Rory asked.
"Your dad and Arthur," Pol replied not looking at her.
"And where's Finn?" she asked again watching as Evelyn's face dropped.
She didn't get an answer from either of the adults and the teens watched Ada run off to get the phone while holding onto Charlie as Pol went into the other room leaving them sat there.
"What the fuck?" Rory asked confused.
