When I started Centuries over two years ago, I did not know how many people were going to read and love Marisol's story, but I am incredibly grateful for all of the comments, all of the votes, and all of the votes you guys have given to her. This has been quite the journey, and in the end all I can say is that Marisol is most definitely my favorite character I have ever written.
Marisol continuously inspires me, and I have all these thoughts about her story and her involvement in The Originals that it made it hard to pick an ending for her and where I wanted the book for her to begin. For a time, I thought that I was going to pick right back up at season two, but then I watched season five and realized how exactly I wanted Marisol's story to go.
I know the ending might be displeasing to a lot of you, it's not exactly the happily ever after you might have thought, but I'm a sucker for sad endings and, really, it's perfect. Once I had this idea, I knew how Centuries was going to end. I never wanted to change it because, to me, it's perfect. And it opens a new realm of possibilities, but also allows me to explore territory that I haven't seen anyone else do.
Yes, the sequel is going to pick up in the seven year gap between seasons 4 and 5 before continuing into the final season, no it's not going to be canon compliant because that's boring. I think this way fits Marisol's story the best rather than just picking up at season two and going through the entire show. Besides, I don't really want to write the enter show. Just the beginning and the end!
Thank you to everyone who has supported Centuries, to everyone who had devoted all of this time to reading her whole story, and I hope that you continue to support her in her sequel - Another Lifetime.
