Botanica, a large nation in the Global Garden, is considered the safest, most elite place for a flower to live. Whether they're a part of a beloved family, or one that isn't viewed as highly, they will be treated accordingly in Botanica. Botanica spreads wide and long, as an island nation. The reason that Botanica was originally turned into a place for flowers was due to how isolated it was. You shouldn't put someone special with commoners, right? That's why some random patch of land wasn't turned into Botanica, it had to be an island. Separate the elites from the odd-ones-out. Botanica is known for giving flowers opportunities to expand their legacy. Whether that's through a floral job, such as being a herbalist, or perhaps a job as a lawyer. Two very different ends of the spectrum, but they still contribute to the public!
That's what Botanica was intended for, extending legacies for the floral citizens. It wasn't until 1846 that it was opened to plants, though weeds were still strictly forbidden. Then again, ten years later, Rosette's Greenery, the best school in the nation, opened its doors to plants. That was when plants and flowers had begun integrating, which actually didn't make that much of a fuss. It wasn't like the plants were deadly for the flowers. It wasn't that anyone was worried about that. It was more so that the lower class of plants was being treated like the flowers? Which just isn't biologically right! They don't do half as much as a flower does within their lifetime, so why should they get the same opportunities? Though, as time pushed onwards, it seemed like flowers had begrudgingly shut up about the inherent differences between plants and flowers.
Events concerning flowers always take place in Botanica. Whether it's the annual Lilium's Purity Pageant, or the Flower Parade that Rosette's Greenery holds every year, it occurs in Botanica. Most things that are special happen in Botanica, as no other nation is considered good enough for it. Notably, the majority of the government of Botanica is apart of the Rosa family or a very high-class floral family. No plants are allowed to be apart of the Botanical government, and if they were, most of the citizens would be horrified, since Botanica is a safe place for flowers. Speaking of government, Botanica is controlled by a representative Democracy, which means that the government is elected by Botanical citizens. Specifically, floral citizens who were born or came to Botanica. If you are not floral, you don't have a place voting in Botanica!
Botanica is currently in a stir, given that a law was recently passed which has distressed Botanical citizens. The Weed Inclusion Act, which does not refer to marijuana, has been passed in the nation. This refers to the fact that weeds are to be treated like plants under Botanical state law. If restaurants, shops, or even schools don't permit weeds attendance, then they'll be liable to be sued. This is quite the distress to the floral people! Who wants to integrate with weeds, they're literal pests. Though, now that it's being legally required, it could get them in a large amount of trouble if they don't comply. As weeds begin to show up in Botanica, hostilities occur between flowers, plants, and weeds. Many hate crimes have occurred, whether it be flower assaulting a weed, or a weed 'threatening' a flower. The crime rate has admittedly gone up, though it doesn't seem the law is going to be reversed anytime soon.
Rosette's Greenery is the largest, most elite school in the Global Garden. As you would expect, it is located in Botanica. The school had opened in 1786, primarily due to the fact that flowers had began complaining of being unsure of what to do with their legacy. So many flowers were lost in the world! Including a young man named Adonis Rosa. Adonis had no idea where to take his life, especially being in such a valued family. That was when he decided to open Rosette's Greenery. A school made by a flower, for the good of all flowers! It was intended to teach flowers how to make their legacy, how to be valued by society. That was Adonis' contribution to society, and people uphold him as a genius to this day for it. Though, Adonis likely wouldn't have guessed that one day, weeds and plants would be included in his perfect school.
Besides that point, Rosette's Greenery, otherwise known as The Greenery, or Rosette's, as shortened nicknames, has been thriving! The school really has helped flowers find themselves, and not be overtaken by pressure, or so many would be led to believe. As time has gone on, it has almost become a generic high school, just with extra classes for flowers. All flowers are required to take three classes. Number one; Legacy Preparation. This class is in reference to building your legacy. Every flower is required to take it, no matter their meaning or origin. The teacher who teaches it is an expert on all things legacy, having attended the school themself, and ended up taking a profession in the study of legacies. The next class is History of Fauna and Flora. This class is entirely the history of all natural things found in Botanica, what is natural and what isn't. It's intended to give the students a view of their history. It's a dual class taken with Charitable Choices, which is a class focused on learning how to put your legacy towards helping the 'less fortunate.' Rather than a selfish legacy. These two classes are considered to be enrolling for the same class, as you take History of Fauna and Flora first semester, and Charitable Choices the second semester.
Outside of this, Rosette's Greenery offers just about anything you could think of. It doesn't require any core courses, and actually has many electives possible to take. The only thing you're required to take are your classes based on your species. Flowers are required to take the three mentioned above, plants only being required to take History of Fauna and Flora and Legacy Preparation. Weeds also have their own classes, mainly focused on servitude. Notably, the semester starts in Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, March 19th. The school begins in spring, as this is when many of the flowers are 'blooming' and their ideas are flourishing. Rather than Summer break, the students have Winter break, which begins on December 21st, and ends at the beginning of Spring. Rosette's Greenery also works similarly to a boarding school, in which the students stay all night and day, except for their breaks. That's the only time they're permitted to go home or leave Botanica. They're allowed to visit shops and stores nearby the school, and can get permission to go to other places in Botanica, though it'll have to be approved beforehand. Meals are typically very formal, and each of them are held at a specific time on the schedule. Everyone is to have meals at the same time, and it is almost considered a test of etiquette. Much to everyone's disappointment, the teenage flowers do have bedtimes. Dorms are provided by Rosette's Greenery, and each dorm fits three. The dorms are separated by gender, and some flowers are automatically put together(The Top Three).
Despite the fact that Rosette's Greenery seems so well articulated, it is ran by a pecking order, much like the outer society of the world. High school is just so intense, adding the societal pressures of classism doesn't help. Every year a list is published, which discloses the top three flowers of the year. It's referred to as Rosette's IT List, and it lists EVERY flower and their ranking. The majority of this 'rank' is based on popularity. Who is well-liked, who spreads the most prosperity, who causes the most hope in the nation. Even though it might seem like a petty, high school tradition, it quite literally affects the entire nation. Whoever the top three are is considered to be incredibly important information. It brings pride to families, it cause: joy to the people! Of course, every year number one is the Rosa family. It hasn't been moved in quite a long time. The first and only time was 1823, and it is currently 1886! It was a travesty for the Rosa family, but the Tulipa family was thriving. Having been number two for so long, it was a shock. Their streak as second place has yet to break since then, despite the 'friendly' rivalry between the families. The third place is always a toss-up. Every single time, it's inbetween Lilium and Helianthus. For the last two years, it's been Helianthus. Though, this school year, Lilium has slipped back into the top three, so currently?
1) Rosa 2) Tulipa 3) Lilium
Helianthus, of course is number four, but that doesn't matter to anybody!
This school year is considered to be very important to the student body. 1886, doesn't sound like a special year at all. Though, this will be the hundredth anniversary of the school! This means that everything is being kicked into high gear! With the majority of the important flowers of the world currently being in the high school, high hopes are bounding. Until the Weed Inclusion Act, not referring to cannabis, has struck the school. Being required to include weeds in the school is... Difficult, to say the least. Especially with the troubles of wilting. This is why Rosette's Greenery has put in place policies which would ward off any weeds with sense. The policies in reference are the requirements. First of all, they must excel, and be able to 'keep up' with their floral classmates. This means exceptional academics or athletics. The other requirement is classes involving 'servitude.' The class itself will be taught by Diana Tulipa. These policies were put in place to prevent weeds from attending, or even wanting to attend. Though, when weeds are actually accepted? Floral people are infuriated.
As Rosette's Greenery is trying to calm the outrage of the Botanical public, the weed population is celebrating from their many, isolated communities. It seems like a break-through, a moment for flowers to realize they're not murdering pests. Many weed news sources have began reporting positively on the school, though Botanical ones? Have torn it to shreds, claiming it endangers the safeties of its students, who actually contribute to the society! Many floral students are mortified to attend school. Most plants are a bit more monotone to it, many of them having interacted with better off weeds. Then there are the weeds, who are finally getting a chance at a regular high school life. Willing to push through anything, even constant harassment and bullying from their peers. Anything to say they accomplished what once seemed impossible. Pretty optimistic view, yeah?

Headmistress Rosalind Rosa, otherwise known as Madame Rosa. Quite literally a terror to anyone who has ever heard her name, but an incredibly conductor of Rosette's Greenery. The grandmother of the current Red Rose, Madame Rosa is incredibly hard on her granddaughter, while still managing to have a chokehold on every other student. Many people would prefer not to anger her, considering how much she's influenced Floral History. Madame Rosa isn't one you want to anger or upset, seeing as she'll make your life a living Hell.
๐๐ซ๐ฌ. ๐๐ข๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐
Mrs. Diana Tulipa isn't much different from the headmistress, herself. She's actually considered worse on some accounts, since she's an actual educator. Mrs. Tulipa is more than notorious for her intense methods of learning, most of which resemble the way that Madame Rosa treats her faculty. Mrs. Tulipa is life-long friends with Madame Rosa, though is clearly trying to one up her at everything, and has openly told students she resents her.ย Students would refer to her as 'The Madame's Lapdog', if it weren't for the fact that she'd have their heads for it.
๐ฟ๐๐๐๐ ๐พ๐๐ฟ๐
The school dress-code is quite strict upon the students, seeing as they're to dress in 'upper-class' attire at all times. Though, it's not as simple as one uniform fitting all. During your first year in Rosette's Greenery, you're assigned a specific wardrobe of what you're permitted to wear, and what you cannot wear. Typically, the colors correspond with your flower, and what makes sense. Plants and weeds are permanently in neutral tones, such as beiges, they cannot change out of them. This was ultimately decided by Madame Rosa, as a way to distinguish them from flowers. Flowers typically are decked out with a closet of their color and style. For example, if you are a red flower, you should only ever be seen in red or a neutral tone. The outfit must be modest, yet flattering. It must sell that you are a flower! The outfits are personally designed by Rosette Greenery's seamstry club, which is openly run by Madame Rosa herself. She, of course, never attends any of the meetings, but she has placed another teacher in charge, in her place.
For as long as anyone can remember, the Global Garden has been made up of three species of vegetation. The most well-respected being flowers, who are considered to be God's gift to Earth. They help the world spin in its axis, all through their good deeds and contribution to society. Flowers have always been given the best, because they are the best. It's sort of society's way of thanking them for all that they do. Next in line are the plants, who function as the middle class. Don't get anyone wrong, we love plants! We're crazy about them, they help with so much, but just not nearly as much as flowers. They're not something to be afraid of, like weeds, so they're kind of just your 'Average Joe' type of vegetation! Plants typically are very split on issues of politics, as they don't have a specific side. They've been mistreated by flowers, but not quite badly enough to be looked at as a weed. That brings us to the weeds, the most disgusting, vile community in the Global Garden.
Though, it's been incredibly long since they all walked along side each other, there are so many reasons why weeds have been undervalued by the world. First of all, they don't exactly contribute to the garden. They aren't exceptionally beautiful, smart, or athletic like flowers. They aren't average, or keeping the middle class alive like plants. They're just uselessโ outside of one key factor. Before Botanica had even been imagined, before the founding of the nation in 1676, they all were brother and sisters, aligned together on Earth. Except for the fact that weeds terrorized the floral people. In a process called wilting, a weed would drain the life force from a flower. It caused many legacies to go extinct just from being around weeds. Botanica was founded to prevent this, and weeds were scattered to various areas of the Global Garden, causing mass Diaspora. It was seen as a needed procedure at the time.
It's unsure if weeds could control this trait, or if just the mere presence of a weed would harm a flower. Since scientists are typically floral people, a study of the trait hasn't been taken. And even if a weed attempted the study, their work would be undermined since they're a weed! It almost feels impossible for weeds to be redeemed, since it's such a horrific notion. Though, since weeds and flowers have only briefly been around each other in the following years, 'extinction' being related to death isn't seen quite as often. Typically, old age strikes someone down before an extinction does, and by then they have someone to continue their legacy. Speaking of continuing legacies, there's a very particular system that every species of vegetation must follow to have their legacy continued and not disrupted.
Legacies are important for a multitude of reasons, for starters? They're what keeps vegetation alive. If someone were to die without anyone to continue their legacy? The species would go extinct, and the legacy would never be able to return. This is why asexual reproduction has developed as a means to have children. This ensures that even if someone is unable to reproduce sexually, they'll have a child perfectly fit for a legacy. Asexual reproduction occurs in a clinic called The Greenhouse, and essentially is a long process, in which the parent whose legacy is being continued fills out paperwork, both parents give DNA samples, and then a baby is made in the Clinic. This is referred to as 'growing' a baby, and is actually considered more natural than sexual reproduction amongst vegetation. Typically, every family has two children, one to continue each parent's legacy.
Something that many people get confused is how many can continue a legacy. The answer is, only one. No matter the circumstances, only one child can continue a legacy. If twins are born, you can register the second-born to be the other parent's legacy-holder, though this will have to be fought in a court of law. Oftentimes for plants, the case is thrown out, and for weeds? Don't even consider trying to get your child a legacy if they're born without one. Flowers are the only ones with a strong chance, and even then they're sometimes shut down. Now, you maybe wondering what happens to children born through sexual reproduction, and the truth is? They aren't born with a registered legacy, meaning they will also have to fight for their right to one in a court of law. Children born through sexual reproduction are quite looked down upon in Botanica seeing as they're born without a purpose. 'Flowers' without a purpose are just as bad as weeds.
Names are another complicated subject to vegetation. Maiden names don't exist, oh no. Legacy names are much more important. Your legacy name is just whichever parent you're continuing the legacy of's last name. So if you're continuing your mother's legacy? It'll be her last name. This is because your legacy name is the scientific name of the flower that you represent. For example, Madame Rosalind Rosa has the last name Rosa, because that is the scientific name for the Red Rose. This continues for every flower. Once you marry, you will not take your partner's name, as that's considered ending your own legacy. Until your child takes on your legacy name, you cannot change your own. Many times, first names are based off myths, legends, or facts about the flower they're associated with. This continues for plants and weeds as well.
Another thing to note is that every level of vegetation has an 'ability' or 'quirk'. Or at least, the majority of them do. These abilities are typically based on their flower, and will heavily connect them back to it. It's nothing overpowered, like kinesis or anything. It's just simple things, such as being able to release certain pheromones to make people feel a certain way, or being immune a poison. Though, there also physical abilities, such as developing thorns whenever being angered, or constantly being prickly, like a cactus. These quirks are typically seen as no big deal, though on rare occasion, if they seem to harm the occupant, they'll be checked out by a medical professional. Typically, it's just a child being unsure of how to handle their ability properly yet. Not at all a big deal. Just something that minorly affects their lives, though you're free to get creative with it!
As a result of the past in the Global Garden, the three levels of vegetation haven't lived peacefully in a long while. They've had complicated, hate-filled lives which thrive off of competition and societal constraints. When weeds are finally allowed to begin living functioning lives in society, people may cause a stir, but after how long it's been, with the lack of scientific evidence that weeds still cause wilting, don't they deserve to be treated like people? They're more than murdering pests, they're vegetation in the large Global Garden. It just might take some time for flowers to understand that.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
As has been thoroughly explained, flowers are the elites of society. Flowers are considered to be the best of the best, something special to the Global Garden. Due to their beauty and contribution, they're highly valued. Admittedly, a lot of this comes from their attractive nature, rather than their usefulness to society. A flower's primary job is to sit still and look pretty, and pretty much everyone likes it this way? Many wind up in the military, or powerful positions, such as the government. Flowers in themselves typically will be offered the most prestigious positions. Do you think a president could be a mere weed or even a plant? That's laughable! Flowers are needed within society, because they keep the world spinning. Without them, there's no lawyers or doctors. Without flowers? There's no Global Garden.
Flowers are expected to uphold their legacy with honor. They follow a certain idealistic, in which they have high respect for the elders of their legacy. They're the ones who have prevented the legacy from wilting, after all! This is why it is instilled in flowers from a very young age that they must only concern themselves with other flowers. Not plants or weeds because they could very well get them off the right track. Flowers are taught that being friends with the lower-class is as bad as an addiction. If flowers are seen with weeds, as friends? The media would cause a riot, especially if it was one of the most respected flowers. Justifications are made through the fact that weeds have caused the death of flowers in the past. They aren't safe to be around. Many flowers have fears or even phobias of weeds, due to the fear instilled in them from youth.
As shocking as it may be, flowers have a hierarchy within themselves. Even though it may not be obvious at first. Certain flowers have more respect given to them then others. This chain in the Flower community is based on two things. Legacy and popularity, as explained above. Legacy being what your legacy stands for, what it upholds in people. Flowers such as Rosa represent true love and passion! Where a Convallaria Majalis(Lily of the Valley) represents death and misfortune. Of course these two would be held to different standards. Yes, the Lily of the Valley is a flower, and will gain respect for that, but who wants to be involved with someone who is a signature of poison and death? Tell me that you trust somebody who could very well poison you. Even so, they're an evil queen in comparison to weeds, even pretty weeds. None of that matters in hindsight of vegetation.
๐๐๐ผ๐๐๐
Plants are the middle men of society, not quite as bothersome as weeds, but not exactly as high-class as flowers. They're really treated in a 'beneficial' manner in comparison to weeds, which many of them are grateful for. Having been allowed into places like Botanica, much earlier than weeds were even considered to begin integration. Many plants are valued more for their strength than their beauty or brains. They're going to be your physical workers, people doing the dirty work. They're given respect for it, decent pay, they live in well-off cities. They're just not given the same luxuries that flowers have been. Many plants are resentful because of this, viewing flowers as overlords, almost. Plants have their own inside jokes, picking at flowers. Even though they likely would never insult a flower to their face. Then there are the plants who worship flowers. This is what keeps them in power after all, having so many loyal followers. The vast amount of plants that would blindly follow a flower off a cliff is astonishing.
Plants are expected to uphold their legacy, though are never really expected to do 'more' with themselves. They are what they are, and that's all they will ever be. Flowers can be all types of things, anything occupational. Plants are just simple and plain, expected to stay down a straightforward path. They aren't meant to change the world or make a difference. Though, with the exception of plants into Rosette's Greenery as of recently, this has began to shift. More plants are being seen in larger roles, and there have actually been rallies to get voting rights for plants! Not to mention, there was a plant running for senator a year back, though they lost. It all feels like progress compared to the restraints they've been held in for so many years. Even though everyone has been unfocused on plants, they're finding their place in society. Plants are going to be synonymous with flowers in a few yearsโ they're sure of it!
๐๐๐๐ฟ๐
Weeds are the bottom of the barrel, always have been and always will be. Admittedly, at some point they were considered deadly towards flowers. Even if no one is entirely sure how true those stories are, there are accounts of flowers beginning to wilt after befriending weeds, especially documented in the Botanica Museum of National History. Of course, a weed would never know that, since they aren't permitted to enter Botanica. Weeds are stripped of the many rights that plants have, typically living lives of social squalor. A weed's life is marked by shameful misery, and typically is portrayed as something useless. Many weeds have some sort of self resentment, due to the fact that they've been taught that them in themselves are evil and murderous. They often live in cluttered cities, which are hardly taken care of by the floral government officials. Weeds are only just now being remitted into society, after so many years of being outcast for something that wasn't studied or proven true.
Weeds are expected to uphold their legacy through... Nothing? They aren't wanted to continue their legacy. Many floral political parties have described a solution of refusing weeds the right to continue their legacy. This would eventually omit weeds from the population. Now, many flowers did claim this would be a step too far, but this doesn't change the fact that weeds are treated like nothing. They aren't expected to excel or make well of themselves. They can attend school, they can attend events in their nation. They just can't vote, or participate in any really meaningful activities, without having to push past their own limits. Weeds have to prove themselves over and over again, just to be treated like citizens of their nations. This is why the Weed Inclusion Act is so important. In recent years, there has been a split between acceptance of weeds and the hatred of them. Finally, they're being permitted into Botanica.
Even though weeds are being accepted, this doesn't change the hate that they're met with. Oftentimes, plants won't even treat them like people, despite the fact that they're no different than a plant or flower, no matter what people believe. Communities are tuning in on the students who have excelled past what anyone thought they would have, and are now attending Rosette's Greenery, as a weed. The aggressions directed towards them are noticeable, and will likely only worsen once in Botanica, though it's all worth it to change things for future weeds, y'know? Prove that they aren't deadly or worthless, no matter what others may believe. It's a shame that the youngest generation must be the ones to do it, but that's typically how things go. Botanica may be forever morphed by the 1886 school year of weeds, and the impact they're intending to leave.
