When the news of Rhaegar's defeat had reached King's Landing Aelinor had felt a pang of sadness and dread. Rhaegar was dead. He was dead. Her brother. Her other half. Dead. And now we are lost. Aelinor knew that something would happen and she would not let anything happen to her family. She would not let it happen. Not while she was here.

A part of her wanted to deny it. Rhaegar was not dead. He could not be. Rhaegar was supposed to live, despite his dishonorable act and stupidness. She felt her heart break of the last time she had spoken with him. She had told him that he would make a bad king. Even hinted that he would make an ever badder one than their father. She wanted to shout at herself for saying that. How could she? That was all anger. But Rhaegar would never know.

They say that Robert bashed his war hammer into Rhaegar's chest. His red rubies falling in the river at the trident. Blood flowing out of his chests, mouth and- Aelinor closed her eyes. She would not think about it. She couldn't. Not now. Aelinor felt her life being torn apart. From the day of the tourney at Harrenhall to her mother and Viserys leaving for Dragonstone and to Rhaegar's death. She felt her heart and breath quicken. She felt tears threatening to fall out, but pushed them away. She could not cry, for she feared if she did then she would never stop.

She could not help but wonder what would happen to her if she met with Robert. Would he kill her? Would he rape or hurt her? She shook her head. There is no way he is going to think about doing that....right? She just hoped that she would not be there if she was to meet him. She had met with his fury before and it was very scary. But Aelinor wanted to believe that Robert would not do anything to her. He was her cousin and friend.

Aelinor brushes her hand over her sword. She had kept it hidden from her father, in fear of him taking it from her. It was meant for her. She had a destiny. She knows it. But perhaps her destiny was being destroyed. How could she know?

Her delicate fingers brushing over the sharp edges before letting out a hiss. She had been so in her own thoughts and didn't notice her brushing her hand over the sharp edges. Aelinor quickly grabbed a small cloth and dabbed it over her finger, making the blood stop coming.

There had been some moons ago when she had noticed her dragon eggs were gone. She had went mad and nearly destroyed her whole chambers before a servant had come into her room. Someone had taken her eggs. Dragon eggs. They were gone. It would probably be Rhaegar as he was so obsessed over his prophecy or perhaps Varys. He could have heard it from one of his birds.

Shaking her head she went to find him.

"Lord Varys" Varys turned his head towards her and Aelinor saw a small grin at the end of his lips. Aelinor felt that he knew something she didn't.

Varys have a nod with his head,"Princess" He replied while unfolding his hands from the sleeves of his robe. "I heard about Prince Rhaegar's death. I am deeply sorry for his death" Aelinor didn't move but Varys continued. "And now with his defeat, if would not take long until Robert Baratheon's forces will march towards King's Landing"

Aelinor felt a lump forming in her throat but nodded anyway with a forced smile, "So am I" Aelinor met his eyes. "But that is not why I have come to you, Lord Varys. I need you to do something for me"

Varys arched his brow in curiosity but Aelinor didn't notice as she continued,"I need you to get Elia and my nice and nephew out of Kong's Landing before Robert's forces are going to arrive". Varys felt his grin forming to a smirk. So the princess and himself was thinking the same? Varys nodded his head truthfully before replying,"Of course. It would be my please to serve the princess"

The sun was going down and Aelinor had sat on her balcony with her knees pressed on her chest, Darksister safely laying beside her. The sun was if the color orange and red with a hint of yellow. That made her think of House Martell. A pang of sadness fell on her. It was said Elia's uncle, Ser Lewyn had died in the battle. Aelinor remembered him. He was handsome for his age and always said some jokes that made Aelinor crack a smile. The kings guard would be missed dearly. The 10,000 dornish soldiers had also perished along with them, expect some prisoners. Dorne would never forget that.

Aelinor heard some steps behind her but Aelinor didn't bother turning around. Jaime sat himself beside her staring straight forward. There was a conferable silence before Jaime broke it."I'm sorry Aelinor" Aelinor shook her head as she felt some tears form in her eyes. "Despite what he did, he was still your brother" Aelinor pushes her knees tighter in her chest thinking that she could make herself invisible.

Jaime saw this and grabbed her hand tightly and giving her a squeeze. Aelinor felt herself do the same before turning her tears eyes towards him. His green sad eyes shined brightly and Aelinor felt a sudden need to kiss him to disappear from the world even if for some minutes. Instead she gave him a sad smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Thank you Jaime." She sniffed. "But god's he was stupid. How could he do this?" Jaime didn't answer and Aelinor didn't wait for him either. "He left us here. Me here. All alone"

Jaime pushed her onto his chest and caressed her head lovingly with his chin upon her head. Aelinor pulled her arms around him. "I am here." Aelinor stopped sniffing. Jaime tugged at her chin to make Aelinor turn her head to his. Jaime smiled. "I will never leave"

Aelinor felt herself chuckle and Jaime arched a brow for her sudden change in emotion. Aelinor only shook her head and chuckled once more,"It's just. I would have never thought of us. Here." Jaime cracked a smile. "I mean we both are pretty shitty right now, and both our life's sucks." Aelinor shook her head with a hint of a smile on her lips. "The irony. The lion and the dragon. A fitting pair should I say" Aelinor looked at him, her violet eyes vibrant against the midnight sun.

Aelinor have a sigh and stroked Jaime's cheek, "Who would have thought?" Aelinor pressed her lips in a tight line. "That I would grow to love you despite what you did" She continued. And Aelinor felt Jaime stiffen and Aelinor suddenly felt a small pang of guilt yet she had to remark it to him. She could not earily forget it. His lips roughly on his sisters lips- no.

A heavy sigh left her lips as she looked up at him helplessly. He lifted a cupped hand to her chin for a moment before leaning forward and pressing his lips to her forehead. "I love you. I made a mistake and I am willing to pay for it. If you ask me." Aelinor felt herself melt. She loved him, that was no doubt.

And Aelinor did not want him to know what she has kept secret. That will only cause more problems. No, he didn't need to know this.

Aelinor pushed the strands of his hair aside on his face and kissed him softly on the lips."You don't need to do anything. It was wrong of me to take it up" Before Jaime could reply Aelinor put her hand up to silence him.

Aelinor brought Darksister in between them. The magnificent sword shined as ever agains the sunset. The big red sapphire sparkling like a thousand diamonds. "I want to give this to you" Jaime's face paled and he shook his head,"No I can't possibly-" Aelinor interrupted him once more her eyes turning down to the beautiful sword.

"No. I do not fancy sword fighting much." She looked up. "But I can give it to someone who will honor it and use it for the greater good" Aelinor pushed the showed gently into Jaime's hands.

Jaime felt like his whole body was in shock. But the sword in his hand felt like he could cut down any man if he wanted to. That sword made him feel strong and powerful. Jaime had seen it with Aelinor some moons back when she found it. But never in a million dreams did he think she might give it to him. A Targaryen sword so beautiful and magnificent to look at. He wanted to know how Visenya Targaryen felt when she wielded the sword. He was not very good with history but he knew of the conquerors. Jaime has never really had an interest for Rhaenys Targaryen. Sure she was said to be beautiful and funny. But he thought of Visenya as a warrior, strong and a leader. He had learned from Aelinor of how she had taken the Vale without any blood or killing. To Jaime, Visenya seemed far more interesting than her sister.

Jaime rose up sitting, and donned his soft tunic, fair and bright, and uncloaked his white cloak making it fall to the floor beside Aelinor. The kings guard held the sword steadily with a strong grip. The deep black sword that darkened the now dark sky around it. It is striking. Jaime has never in his life seen a sword as strong as this. He took a deep breath before giving small waves in the air. Even in the air it looks majestic. He then remembered Dawn, the great and strong sword of Arthur Dayne. He had remembered when Ser Arthur had fought with it. It was real admirable watching him with that sword and now he held a ancestral sword of House Targaryen.

"Impressive right?" Aelinor's voice broke Jaime out of his thought. Jaime turned to her with a wide smile and put the sword on his waist before pulling Aelinor up in a large hud. Aelinor chucked and hugged him back. They pulled back and Aelinor smirked slightly.

Aelinor clinked her teeth playfully "Well well well. Now a real knight, yes?" he rolled his eyes and let out a laugh. Aelinor turned serious "You have to promise me something" He said nothing so she pressed on. "Promise me you protect Elia and her children" Jaime shifted uneasy but Aelinor ignored him and continued,"They are leaving soon and you must accompany them"

Jaime shook his head with an angry look on his face,"I will not leave you here-" Aelinor interrupted him once again. "Yes you will! I give you Darksister, my sword so that you can protect my family. Promise me" Aelinor told him sternly.

Jaime felt his mouth open with tears in his eyes. This is not going to happen! He would not revive this sword–great or not, just to leave her. No no no, Jaime thought. He would not leave here here with her mad father. Who knows what he is going to do. He shook his head. "No I will not leave you here" he gritted our and gabbed her shoulders tightly. "I will not!"

Aelinor touched his hand on her shoulder and gave him a small squeeze assuring him that she would be okay. "Jaime please. I only trust you to do this!" Aelinor exclaimed with tears running down her face that Jaime was including. "I have talked to Varys. He has a plan to get Elia and the children out. And you will be with them."

Jaime stared at her while giving a emotional scoff,"So you are going to stay here? All alone?" Aelinor nodded her head. "Yes. I need to stay here. When Robert is going to come to the capital I will try talking to him. He cares for me I know it. He is my cousin."

Jaime gave a growl at the mention of Robert,"Robert? If you hadn't noticed Aelinor. Your brother took his betrothed from him. And everyone knows how madly in love he is with her. He hated Targaryens and will kill you."

Aelinor shook her head once more before walking to the end of the balcony,"No. He would not, not now that I have let out the Starks. They are alive because of me. If not him then Ned Stark. You know of the Starks and their honor."

Jaime even though unsure, trusted her. He knew that Aelinor was loved by everyone even his father. It would be suicide to kill her. The small folk in Flea Bottom and practically the rest of Westeros would murder anyone who had any part of her death.

He nodded and let out a shaky sigh,"Very well, Aelinor. But promise me nothing is going to happen" Jaime wanted to hear her promise to him. He needed to. Or else he doesn't think he would leave without her.

Aelinor closed her eves and pressed her forehead against his and gave a gentle smile,"I promise"

But that was that. Aelinor didn't know if she would survive, and she really doesn't know if Robert is going to let her live. But all she needed to do was let Elia and her children out of the Keep.

"Elia"

Aelinor was inside of Elia's chambers whom she shared with Rhaenys and Aegon. Elia has always wanted the children close to her, which Aelinor couldn't really blame her for. Her father had been grumpy and annoyed when Rhaenys lacked the Targaryen features. And now that Rhaegar was dead, Robert would come to them.

Elia turned around and Aelinor noticed that her eyes were puffy and red from crying. So she had heard of Rhaegar, she thought sadly. Elia have always been kindhearted. And Aelinor had though how she could mourn her husband when he disgraced and dishonored her and most of all humiliated her in front of half the seven kingdoms. But still, Elia was now crying for her husband. Please don't let Elia die, she pleaded to whatever was out there. She does not deserve that, not any of this.

Aelinor held her good-sister tightly in her arms and began to rock her slightly. She buried her face in her neck as the hot tears continued to slide down her cheeks and onto her skin.

Elia walked towards her and wrapped her hands around her, she buried her face in her neck as the hot tears continued to slide down her cheeks and onto her skin,"How are you?" She told her after pulling away and gripping her hand. Damn you Rhaegar. Look what you have done. Elia had the sympathy to actually ask her if she was okay when it was Elia who was hurt.

Aelinor's eyes held concern and she smiled sadly. They sat on two chair facing each other and holding their hand comfortingly. "I am fine, Elia. What about you? Are the children fine?"

Elia nodded her head sadly, the though of Rhaegar running away with a child broke her. Elia knew she would never be the same, happy woman she had been before. She had loved Rhaegar, so much so that she was willing to give him another child. She nearly died for Aegon and Rhaegar chose to run away. If she didn't have her children she was sure she would have taken her own life. Rhaenys and Aegon was her life and soul. No one was going to take them away from her.

"They are fine"

"And you?"

"I am fine" Aelinor frowned at this. Any blind person would notice that she is not fine. Though Aelinor couldn't really blame her either. Her husband shamed her. Her brother. It is me who should be ashamed over him. Running away with a wolf, leaving his family in the hands of his father. Coward, was what he was.

"Elia I am so sorry and really ashamed of what Rhaegar did" Aelinor said apologetic and even a bit guiltily. Elia notices this and only shook her head.

"No" Elia said as she drew her hands closer to hers. "It is not your fault for what happened" Elia stopped, hesitant of continuing. "I-it is not your fault for Rhaegar not loving me" Elia got tears back into her eyes but turned them away with a close of her eyes and a deep sigh.

Aelinor broke. It was Rhaegar's fault but here she is thinking it's hers for not being capable of being loved. Honestly, Elia has always been a beautiful and graceful woman. She was kindhearted, lovely and loved by the small folk. She had always been the sun in King's Lansing, shining everyone and bringing them light and happiness. Everyone could agree, but Rhaegar. It is always Rhaegar. Elia did not see herself as any great beauty or anyone important but in through she was the most loveliest person and would be the most loved Queen in the Targaryen dynasty.

Aelinor shut her eyes tightly before opening them,"Now you listen to me sister" Elia meet her eyes."You are the most astonishing princess there has ever been. And you are kind, amusing and most of all...loved"

Before any of them could say any more, a guard had burst into the chambers in a hurried and scared state. He looked young, and was sertaintly out of breath. "My princess's, the Lannister's are outside the gates, asking to be let in."

Aelinor sat up causing her cair to fall on the ground. She ran to the Throne room missing the looks from startled guards and servants. She ran to her father who sat on the Iron Throne with Lord Varys and Master Pyrcylle. They seemed to be talking but Aelinor had no intension of being ignored. "Father! What is happening? Why is the Lannister's at the gate?"

The king looked at his daughter with a sneer as she interrupted their conversation. He turned look at Varys with a nod at his head signaling him to tell her.

Varys turned to her with a fearful expression,"It seems like Tywin Lannister has arrived at the gates asking to be let in, to help" he stopped and frowned. "But I am not certain we can trust Lord Tywin, seeing as he has come after the defeat at the trident"

Master Pyrcylle let out a growl but kept it hidden,"I am assuring you, your Grace. We can trust Lord Tywin. He has been in your servise for long, and let us not forget that we hold his son here. He would not do anything." Aelinor rolled her eyes at this. Why is he even here?

Aelinor ignored them and walked closer to her father,"Father, we mustn't trust the Lannister's." She met the approved glance of Varys and a disappointing look of the Grand Maester. "Ask yourself father, why is Lord Tywin here after the defeat and Rhaegar's death."

Aerys didn't meet her eyes get seemed to listen to her words. But before she can even blink he stands up and walks closer to the Grand Maester. "He had yet to come to aid when I ordered him to join my forces agains the pretender." He narrowed his eyes at the Maester. "Why would I let him In?"

The Grand Maester seems to be at loss of words before blinking and giving a small cough. "Your grace, you know how much work Lord Tywin has, he probably had much to do" Much to do in a war, she though bitterly. "And he has been loyal all this time. He has been at your service for many great years, I assure you he would not betray you"

Aelinor scoffed mentally. Why wouldn't Lord Tywin betray her father. He has done noting to humiliate him. Calling him a servant and her daughter a servants daughter. He would betray him only a dimwitted person would think otherwise.

Aerys narrowed his eyes curiously before ordering,"Very well. Let Lord Tywin inside"

Aelinor began panicking and opening her mouth but Varys bested her.

"Your Grace, this is a mistake please-"

Her father's eyes turned and glared at Lord Varys. "I am the king am I not? You are my servant and you obey me"

Aelinor now knew that we were in for a blood bath.
