"Now that , the fucking Lannister boy wanted to be on my kingsguard you would not be betrothed to him anymore"
Aelinor took a beep breath before lifting her eyes up to her father and asked, "Am I going to get betrothed to another man now" Aelinor knew that somehow she would be wed off. It would get weird if Aelinor wasn't wed of at age six and ten. But she knew that even if her father was mad he sertently was not stupid.
Aerys gave a small smirk towards her and shrugged his shoulders like he didn't have a care in the world, "That's for me to know and for you to wonder" Aerys walked back to his desk and only then Aelinor noticed his big change of look. His hair was not silver and shiny; but rather grey and dull and very long which reached up to his knees. His nail was beginning to get disgustingly long too. He seemed more mad then ever. Aelinor began to pity her mother even more.
Not a single glance up at her, "Leave" was all he said but Aelinor was smart enough not to demand what he meant and walked off.
Aeinor always wondered what would have happend if she was born like a normal commoner? Would she be rich or poor? Probably poor. But at least she wouldn't have to marry for duty but rather for love.
Sighting she walked to the gardens to get some peace and quiet. Though that did not last long as she was greeted by many lords and ladies, all wanting to get to know her better. Aelinor had the attraction of most the men but she never found herself feeling the same back. Sure they were attractive but they were all the same, respectful and boring.
Sitting at a bench and watching some birds fly over her she heard someone approach. She turned her head and noticed it was Jaime. Or Ser Jaime now; it was still very hard to remember that he was no longer Lord Jaime or betrothed.
Jaime flashed a big smile towards her and approached her, "Might I accompany you Aelinor?" Nodding briefly with a smile he sat down and watched the birds as she did. "Watching birds now are we? You really are innocent"
Aelinor ignored Jaime's comment and continued to watch the birds as one began flying over to her and on her hand. She smiled softly. She noticed that Jaime quietly took her hand and began stroking it, "You know we don't need to end anything. We could still be together" Jaime asked hopefully though secretly a part of him hoped that she would forget about him. A more stronger and bigger part of him wanted Cersei more than Aelinor. It was always going to be Cersei.
Aelinor gave a sigh back as response before locking eyes with Jaime, "I-I don't know Jaime. I really like you but we would have to break in the end and you know it. It would probably end with us getting our heart broken" If only she knew
Jaime stared at her, "You don't know that" Aelinor was silent. She didn't know what to do. And he was only pushing her more and more.
Jaime was about to speak once more, before he was cut off by another familiar voice.
"Might i speak with you a moment dear sister" She locked up and saw it was Rhaegar. She smiled, Rhaegar always brightened up her mood in sad situations. She looked over at Jaime before looking at Rhaegar again. "She nodded slowly and stood as she gave Jaime a quick goodbye.
Rhaegar smiled and took her arm and walked her out the gardens and into the corridors at the Red Keep. "How is Elia, Rhaegar? I heard she is due to give birth any time soon" Aelinor questioned her brother.
Rhaegar walked silently for a moment before answering, "She is not doing so good. Pregnancy has made her weak and I fear that she might not survive this or the next pregnancy" Aelinor watched him carefully with a raised eyebrow.
"Why should it matter if she can't have another child after this one? If it concerns her life then you should not get her pregnant again" She says carefully as if trying to catch his reaction of her comment. Aelinor knew of Rhaegar's stupid obsession of prophecies. It was stupid really. One time she walked in on him in the library after wanting to learn more about her Targaryen legacy. He didn't notice her walking in and stuck his nose more into the book as if he lost one word of the information he would be cursed from the seven Gods. All she could hear him say was 'the dragon must ave three heads' but all she did was brush if off and walk out of the library.
Rhaegar was silent for a minute after straightening his posture and got his concerned face back, "Of course dear sister. I would never want that, but you must understand that father will want our children to marry" Aelinor thought that was more of an excuse rather than the truth. But she suppose what Rhaegar said was partly true. Their father would most sertinty want their incest-marrying to still go.
They walked slowly before Aelinor had to ask, "One time I heard you say 'the dragon must have three heads'. What did you mean about that, Rhaegar?" Rhaegar suddenly stopped and turned his head towards her trying not to look into his sister's eyes but before he got to open his mouth a shout was heard.
"You Grace!" They both turned their heads and saw Ser Arthur running towards them. He stopped beside them and took a deep breath.
Ser Arthur looked at Rhaegar carefully and said fast, "Your grace, Princess Elia is expecting your child right now" That was what took Rhaegar to fully sprint towards Elia's chambers.
-------------------------------------
Aelinor stood beside her mother as they patiently waited for Elia. The screams began to get smaller now, but more painfully.
As she began to walk in lines she noticed bruises on her mothers arm. Silently she began walking towards her mother. She took her hand up and pushed the silky might dress off.
Gasping silently she saw that nearly her whole arm was covered in scratches and bruises, "What is this mother? Why haven't you told me or Rhaegar about this?" Aelinor whispered to her mother as she stood there in shock.
Her mother pushed her hand gently off her arm as she took the hand of her daughter lovingly, "Don't worry dear, I'm okay. You don't have to worry about me"
"Don't worry?! Mother, your whole arm is covered in scratches and bruises. How can I not worry?!"Aelinor snapped.
Her mother just smiled sadly and kissed the back of her hand gracefully, "Because I am your mother and if you do concern yourself whit this you will get hurt. And i cannot allow that"
Aelinor didn't reply and looked down to the floor before looking up, "I know what he does, mother. And I feel so ashamed of myself, I am doing nothing to make him stop" she muttered sadly.
Her mother looked at her adoringly and grabbed her arm pulling her into a hug as she whispered, "It's okay, I promise. But right now it's more important for you to be there for Elia. You know this pregnancy has taken out her energy" she pulled back and looked into her eyes, "Promise you won't burden yourself with this"
Frowning sadly she took her both her mothers hands in hers, "I promise" But promises are always meant to be broken.
-----------------------------------
"She's beautiful, just like her mother"
Elia smiled sheepishly and looked at the small bundle in her arms, "Yes she is, but I don't think your father is going to be happy when he sees that the only Targaryen feature she got was violet eyes"
Aelinor looked at Elia sadly and grabbed her hand, squeezing it gently, "I won't let that happen I promise"
Elia knew that her good-father would not be happy and she would not let her best friend get hurt by this.
Aelinor sighted as Elia didn't reply but instead thought of her brother, "What did Rhaegar think about his beautiful daughter?" That suddenly brought a smile to Elia's face. It didn't seem like Elia and Rhaegar loved each other but loved their child nevertheless.
"Yes, he said he loved her anyway" Then Elia looked like she was deep in thought, "Though, he mumbled something about dragons and three heads of something. But I'm sure it's nothing. But I know Rhaegar want's more children but I'm not sure I can do it. I nearly died with Rheanys" Elia told her concerning.
Aelinor was up at this point done with Rhaegar and his three-headed dragon, "Don't think about him Elia. My brother is stupid and doesn't see how amazing yo u are. You don't need to give him another child Elia" Aelinor said reassuringly although she knew that her father and possibly Rhaegar would demand another child, mostly a son who could pass off the Targaryen dynasty.
Elia seemed to notice her lie and only smiled sadly and brought her head down to the child in her arms instead. Something is coming and Elia can feel it, and it sure as hell isn't winter.
