xiv. war and broken heart

— 𝐭𝐬𝐲𝐮𝐥 —

𝘄𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁

𝐌𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐑

was it normal that your legs weighted that much? was it normal that you were feeling like you had been dragging your body towards an unknown destination for hours?

your brows were furrowed, your brain a chaos.

you tilted your head back, trying to find some comfort in eywa, in the one thing supposed to guide you.

you couldn't see the sky, the leaves blocking you visions — except for those little points where light could pass trough but it was impossible to see from them anyway.

that moment reminded you of the 'old' days, where the only one you could've trusted was a feral animal.

yourself.

where no omaticaya was there to ruin your peace, where nothing of all of that happened, where you were only a lone soul walking that earth all by herself.

the purple and blue lights form the nature of pandora were an hard contrast against your dark skin, but just because you couldn't be seen that didn't meant you weren't as dangerous as they had made you to be — even thought you had spared neteyam's life.

you were sure jake and neytiri both knew that.

maybe that was why they had acted like they had did, why neteyam had still found it in his mind to betray you even after he had made you knew his family.

because they knew that a beast would've always been a beast, zero exceptions.

you blinked your eyes a couple of times as you came back to reality, your leg throbbing in pain as your body had become hyper aware of the string rolled around it to keep the injury in its place.

you could feel the slight breeze against your body, as it made the — now coated — blood turn cold.

your left writs weighted a lot more than it should've and you knew that if you had looked down to it you would have found tuk's bracelet hanging around it.

you let the other hand wonder up to a tree, keeping your body upwards and trying to ease your leg from any unnecessary pain, your face was scrunched — a little from the pain and mostly from the confusion in your head.

you couldn't let yourself be like that, you knew it.

you were supposed to be one of the scariest thing on that planet but no, you were completely destroyed just because of what he had done — oh well, more for what he hadn't done.

he hadn't fought against them.

he hadn't insulted them while trying to come back to you just like a child his with candy.

you knew he would've never done that, because you would've never done that; they would've been already on the ground as soon as their finger had touched your forearm.

but it didn't hurt any less.

you had repeated the truth to yourself  again and again, from the start; that there could've been only that outcome for the two of you.

you had tried to tell him that too.

that you didn't deserve him, you couldn't have him; that no matter what he did you wouldn't have been together.

not in that way that he had always wanted — and that you had always wanted too.

happiness wasn't on your said, it never had been.

you weren't suppose to have it, you were suppose to be alone.

but instead he had come into your life, ruining your perception of reality and future.

you kept on walking, the thoughts being only a low sound in the back of your head, until you heard a voice; a familiar one that you had encountered again hours prior in a fight with blood and injuries.

you looked around and you realized, maybe you weren't really thinking about where you were going but your heart and your instincts had took you right where you should've been.

the base.

you spotted some black heads and you quickly hided behind a bush before you looked down to try and understand what was happening in front of you.

and then you did, you understood.

a rebellion, a promise for a fight, a call for war.

it didn't surprise you to see that nothing had changed, that there were still those people ready to fight and destroy everything just for their own needs — for their selfishness, for their need of power.

what did, partially, surprise you was seeing your sister on the top; calling the people to her, giving them even more reasons to believe in that.

the na'vi finally finished with the screaming giving the word to their leader, and giving peace to your ears.

she took a step towards them "those blue shits out there" she pointed towards the forest all around her "they killed my parents!" her finger hit her own chest, hard.

you rolled your eyes at the same old story, some sort of justification for her hate-crimes.

as if those stupid omaticaya could've had ever lend a finger on your mother, she would've took them down with so much ease.

you had tried to tell her many times that it was the ash people that she should've been really worried about, but she had never even pretended to listen to you.

"they asked for their help in that fucking war, against the sky people!" she raised her voice at the end, and you were almost starting to worry about those veins popping out of her neck.

"they would've lost it without us, without them!" the na'vi looked up at her as they started to ululate war cries with a perfect rhythm — one every four seconds, they were ready for the war.

"-and then when the war was over and pandora was peaceful, they came back to finish their job!" her screams echoed around as she tried to cover those of all the people under her.

she really believed everything she was saying, uh?

"but now we can give them a taste of their own medicine" your breath hitched in your throat as you waited for the revelation "because now we know where they hide"

her smile at the end of the sentence was one with no fear, only determination.

she knew she would've won, she was sure of that.

she had found the perfect way to ruin your people forever, to let the whole world know you for who you truly where; and she had found the perfect moment where she could also ruin you personally.

neteyam.

your brain repeated that same name over and over again, non stop.

and even if moments before the screams of the na'vi almost made it impossible for you to hear now all you could really focus was his name being repeated with the imagine of fire burning everything down.

you had knew it, in the back of your thoughts you had knew it.

that's what you were treating to convince yourself off as you stealthy walked away form that scene.

you couldn't admit that something as big as that hadn't crossed your mind, her being back was obviously a sign for something more.

especially when she had been watching you without doing anything.

oh eywa.

you thought, your brain had divided itself in two linear voices overlapping one another.

one begging for the breath mother and her help, the other chanting that same name as if it couldn't do anything else.

and even if you knew that the consequences would've been really, really big, you knew what you needed to do.

so you did it.
