𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲

𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐘𝐀𝐌 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐍.

you didn't care about that, you didn't know them and you were almost hundred percent sure that they were as annoying as they looked.

you spent your time hunting, finally succeeding on having a quiet hunt, without anyone doing chaos or talking in your ear.

but even if you tried to convince yourself that it was better that way, that it was nice to finally have your time alone; deep down, you knew that you were just lying to your own self.

you screamed at the air as you threw your hands down, moving around and stomping your feet on the ground.

"he let them see me, how can he be so fucking stupid" you groaned as you paced around "doesn't matter how many times i help him with his senses he remains just a stupid and ignorant omaticaya"

you hated how much that whole situation was getting to you.

"i hate him, i hate him, i... hate... him?" you stopped in your tracks as you looked down at your hands trying to understand the feeling that had appeared in your heart.

then your brain connected with something much different than reality and your hands were covered in blood.

just for a second, only for a moment, but it was enough to remind you of who you really were.

a killer.

you were destined to be it.

and there was nothing you could do to change that, it didn't matter that the toruk had chose you, it didn't matter that you were doing everything you could to free your people, nothing mattered.

because you knew that your destiny was already written.

your hands started to tremble and you closed your eyes, brining them to your chest as you tried to forget about all of it.

you let your body fall behind on the tall grass, a pair of reptilian's eyes watching over you trying to scare away every sign of worry.

and maybe, just a little, they succeeded.

"so...you stayed with her even tho she was about to kill you" questioned kiri, her arms crossed on her chest as she stopped on her tracks to repeat what her brother had just explained.

"i sound stupid if you just say it like that" noticed neteyam as he looked down, focusing on how the situation really looked from an outsider's eye.

"you are." told him lo'ak as he pushed the older brother to the side with his shoulder.

"i second that" added spider as he caught up with the sully's, tuk chuckled at the conversation before adding her own point of view.

"i think it's cute"

all of them turned around to look at her with a confused face and she shrugged as she let the others' eyes observe her.

"what? it's not my fault he likes her" the little girl tried to prove her point by pointing at her brother and all eyes where on him, noticing the way he immediately became a little flustered.

"i do not" tried to talk back neteyam only to fail miserably, he pushed his head into his hand as he groaned against them.

kiri and lo'ak held a smirk on their face as they walked near him, lo'ak pushed an arm on his shoulder as they started to move again.

spider and tuk skipping a little to not stay behind.

"c'mon i bet she's beautiful" told him kiri as she tried to not laugh at her brother's red face.

neteyam was stiff, but he let himself get dragged by his brother as he thought about the situation.

he needed to do it but he was afraid of what you could say.

what you could do.

"so, where is she? where are you taking us?" asked him lo'ak as he tried to move the conversation to another subject, he noticed the way his brother's breath slowed in a second.

"i don't know" he responded and they all stopped on their tracks again, looking at the biggest sully with a mixture of angry and annoyance in their eyes.

"what do you mean you don't know?" asked kiri exasperated.

"yeah bro, we've been walking for a lot of time are you joking?!" spider's voice was more relaxed than the girl but he was just as annoyed as her.

lo'ak with his temper was the one that neteyam was gonna have more problem with and he knew that so he quickly got his hands up once again, stopping all of them from getting angry at him.

"i almost never know where she's-" he was about to add more but tuk stopped him.

"so how do you find her?" she questioned, her hand once again holding her bigger sister's one as she looked at her brother with her big eyes.

"i don't, she's the one that finds me" he explained making kiri scoff.

"creepy" murmured spider, but everyone heard him anyways and he smiled as tuk chuckled at his comment.

"god, she's so mysterious" commented kiri, she tried to hide the admiration in her tone but they all noticed it.

"i know" agreed neteyam.

lo'ak fake gagged at his brother's words, brining two finger into his mouth before letting his tongue fell out of his mouth.

"you're such a softie" mocked him kiri, who was strangely talking a lot.

maybe it was because she tried to hide the real stress that she was feeling.

her brother had trusted you with his life but could all of them did the same?

she didn't know, she didn't had an answer for that.

and it was actually scaring her.

what would've happened if they didn't.

would you snap and kill all of them?

was neteyam the only thing holding you back?

her brain was full with questions and she didn't have not even one answer.

and then she heard a noise, an animal call.

something less dark then before, less animalistic, less feral.

but it made her blood freeze anyway, and she wasn't the only one.

the only one who was strangely calm was neteyam

who looked around with a determinate look, not worried anymore.

he called your name a couple of times, the animal's noise almost responding to him.

"could you please come out?" he asked softly, his family's eyes widening at the sweet tone he was using and even more at the fact that he was sincere.

he wasn't pretending

but neteyam realised what he had just said and he tried to say something more "maybe slowly and not from their back thank you" he added.

they heard a dark and low growl and they all did a step away from the noise, the silence following being even more scary than the noise itself.

"please" repeated neteyam sounding even more desperate

silence again.

they could almost hear their crazy heartbeats as they waited for something to happen.

and then, almost as if it was a vision, from the darkness in front of them you came out.

slowly.

your bow in your hand letting them know that you were just as dangerous as before — not that they were doubting it.

you didn't say anything as you circled them, slowly, your eyes looked like a predator that hadn't eaten in days.

but you also looked bored.

you finished the circle, ending up in front of neteyam, your eyes still on the others for some moments before they moved on him.

you tilted your head, a way of asking for answers.

he noticed how you had went back to not talking, and he realised that it was a way of protecting yourself.

"i figured that since they saw you, they needed to know you" your look turned into a scowl letting him know that you were against his idea "to understand!" he added quickly not letting you get angry at him.

you hummed, not letting him know what you meant as you moved your eyes on his family.

but then you looked at him again and you nodded, just that but he understood.

he motioned to his family to come towards you and they all stopped in their tracks, not daring to move or breath.

he knew that if they remained that way your patience would've finished a lot sooner and he tried to beg them with his eyes to just do something.

and then tuk came out from behind her sister.

slowly doing some steps towards you.

she arrived almost in front of you, looking for a moment at her brother before glancing back into your beautiful eyes.

then she moved an hand to her head, making her fingers touch her forehead before letting it fall in front of her.

"i see you" she told you and no one dared to say anything.

you crouched down to look at her into her eyes, kiri stopping herself from moving even a muscle.

and then you copied her actions, her words.

and neteyam let out a breath.

you looked up behind her towards the others before you moved back up on your feet.

one after the other they all did the same, welcoming you and letting you know that they trusted you.

neteyam smiled at the interaction.

even spider succeeded on being on your good side.

or at least on being still alive after meeting you.

and in that moment neteyam thought that everything was gonna be alright, he thought that it was fine once again, that you could all have peace like this.

because all of them were unaware of the real beast that was waiting behind the corner.

and that one was a lot more angry for blood than you could had ever imagined.

i went trough a writer block so i'm sorry ( again ) if this chapter isn't all that but i actually fought demons to came up with this 💁‍♀️
