June was awaken by the sound of her phone ringing. She shot quickly up, immediately regretting doing so because of the ache in her head. She had no clue where she was, but instead of worrying about that, she searched the bed frantically for her ringing phone. Once she found it, she read 'Allie' across her screen and quickly answered.

"Hello?" June swung her legs around the side of the bed as she answered.

"June? Where are you?" Allie questioned worriedly.

"I don't..." June went to answer, but upon looking around the room let out a relieved sigh. "I think I'm in Grizz's room."

"Grizz's room?" Allie repeated, sounding a bit shocked. "Nevermind, it doesn't matter right now. Cassandra said we need to meet her at the hardware store. Can you get there?"

June nodded her head, despite the fact that Allie definitely couldn't see her. She then went to stand and abruptly fell back down on the bed, her head spinning. She realized she definitely wasn't sober, but she wasn't going to let that stop her from meeting up with the others.

"Yeah, uh, I'll see you there in a bit," She answered, placing a hand on her forehead in hopes of steadying the room.

"Okay, it's storming so be safe," Allie commanded, sounding like a mother, before ending the call.

June squeezed her eyes shut and let her phone fall to the ground. She wondered how she ended up there, and how long she had been asleep. She knew it couldn't be for too long, considering how drunk she still felt. As she searched her brain, hoping to pull out a memory, her jaw suddenly fell open. She did remember one thing. And that was coming out to Grizz.

"Grizz?" She shouted out, her voice sounding weak and scratchy. She was definitely dehydrated and needed water.

After a few moments, Grizz came running into the room frantically. She realized that calling out his name like that probably wasn't her best idea, seeing as she had been blackout drunk and he probably assumed something was really wrong. He seemed to relax as his eyes settled on the girl sitting up in his bed, seeming uninjured.

"Allie just called me, we need to get to the hardware store," June informed. Grizz immediately snorted in response and shook his head.

"We don't need to do anything. It's storming really bad out June, plus you don't look too good," He crossed the room to his nightstand and handed her a glass of water she hadn't realized was sitting there.

"Allie wouldn't have called if it wasn't really important," June countered after she gulped down the water.

"Neither of us can drive right now," Grizz crossed his arms. He didn't seem drunk to June, but she also couldn't really focus on anything at the moment, so she figured she'd take his word for it.

"So we'll walk," She settled, causing Grizz to sigh again. He had forgotten how stubborn the girl always was. "Look, Grizz, I'm not going to make you go, but I have to."

June forced herself to stand up, ignoring the ache in her head and the way the room spun. If she was going to have any chance of him letting her go, she'd have to prove she was in good enough shape to. Which meant she couldn't stumble or slur her words. She had to seem completely sober.

"Well, I'm not going to let you go alone," Grizz responded, finally accepting that he was defeated. He searched his closet for clothes and tossed her one of his hoodies. She hurriedly got dressed in her pants and his hoodie before running out. He grabbed a large umbrella from the corner of his room and went to lead the girl out.

Just as they were about to leave his house, June's phone buzzed again. She figured it was just Allie, questioning where she was, but was shocked to see Elle's name light up her screen. She was sure the two of them had never texted, and that she only had her number from the group message of everyone on the trip. Her heart seemed to freeze in her chest as she slowly forced herself to open the message.

'hey, can we meet up?' The text read. June noticed how late it was and wondered if something was wrong, knowing she hadn't seen the girl since she left with Campbell.

'is everything all right?' June hurriedly typed back. Grizz stared at her expectantly, wondering why they were still waiting.

'yeah, I just was hoping we could talk at my place.'

June read and reread the message several times, biting down on her lip. She knew that whatever Allie called for had to be important. But, as she thought about it, she also remembered that Allie had ditched her the whole night to be with Harry. She sighed, letting the bitter side of her take over before glancing up at Grizz.

"I'm not going anymore," She spoke defiantly.

"What? Why? Did Allie say not to?" He furrowed his brows.

"No, no, Elle asked me to meet up," She spoke a bit quieter, not letting her eyes meet the boy's eyes. She remembered telling him about her feelings for the girl, and she was suddenly a lot more self-conscious talking to him.

"And you want to go alone?" His eyebrows shot up, suddenly sounding a lot like a dad. When June gave him an expectant look he made an 'oh' with his mouth before nodding. "Right, right. Alone. Well, I'll still go meet with Allie. Make sure everything's okay."

"Are you sure?" June questioned, knowing he didn't want to go to begin with but thankful that he offered.

"Yeah, yeah, of course. Here, I have another," He gave her the umbrella he was holding, which she took gratefully.

"Text me updates," She said finally before turning and walking out the door.

The weather was worse than she had expected. She pulled up his hood and held it tightly around herself as she braved the conditions, heading quickly in the direction of Elle's house. She was suddenly grateful that West Ham was so small. She basically knew where everyone lived and it never took more than 5 minutes to get there.

Upon arriving at the house, she found Elle sitting on the porch alone. The girl's face lit up slightly at the sight of June, which made her stomach do flips. She couldn't help but be nervous, after their almost eventful night with one another.

"Hey, everything alright?" June questioned as she walked up the steps to the porch, closing the umbrella in her hand.

"Yeah, I just got back from Campbell's house a little bit ago," Elle spoke quietly. June noticed the girl's damp hair and wondered why she didn't just stay the night. Not that she wanted her to stay with Campbell, she was more grateful she didn't.

"Uh, how was that?" June questioned, taking a seat beside Elle.

"It was..." Elle seemed to search for the words, but couldn't find them. "I don't know."

June nodded in response, not really wanting to hear about her night with Campbell anyways. While she was off with the boy, and Allie was off with Harry, June was mainlining alcohol as a coping mechanism. It wasn't her best decision she'd ever made, but she didn't entirely regret it either.

"So, why did you text me?" June finally asked the question that had been plaguing her mind.

"I wanted to talk about tonight, before Grizz showed up," Elle stared down at her palms, unable to look at the girl beside her.

"It's my fault, I'm sorry, it wasn't a big deal—" June started, shaking her head, but Elle cut her off.

"No, no, it is a big deal. Look, it's no secret that I'm not the most popular girl in West Ham," She sighed, finally raising her eyes to look at June. "But, I don't want to ruin what could've been a really good friendship with you. I mean, I think I was just confused, and that was weird of me, and I'm really sorry. But you're like, one of the first people that I've felt like gets me, and I don't want to ruin that."

June bit down on her lip. Part of her was ecstatic to hear that at the time, Elle wanted to kiss her too. In fact, Elle seemed to think she was the only one who wanted it. But, the other half of her felt deflated as she realized the girl really did seem confused, and she just wanted a friendship with her. She forced herself to nod her head and smile, or else she knew she might cry.

"It's fine, really."

"Can we just... Forget about it?" Elle questioned, offering the girl a small smile.

"Forget about what?"

Grizz had followed through with texting June updates, letting her know that the center of town was basically in shambles as kids ran around causing chaos. He also informed her that Allie and Harry showed up together, cozy and giggling under Harry's jacket, even if June didn't really want to know that. June and Elle only talked a bit longer after they discussed the almost kiss. June excused herself, choosing instead to cry as she walked through the rain back to Allie's house.

She wasn't really sure why her feet led her there. She should want to go home and be alone, where she could cry and grieve the relationship that wasn't ever really going to happen. All she could think about was the fact that she was trapped in this alternate universe, where she'd probably always have to hide who she was. If they were stuck there forever, she was basically 100% sure that meant she'd be alone forever, and there was nothing she could do about it.

As she arrived at the Pressman's doorstep and knocked on the door, she realized just how ridiculous she looked. It was well into the early hours of the morning, her makeup was smeared down her face (which she could thankfully blame on the rain), and her hair fell in stringy strands around her. Everyone in the house was probably asleep, so she most likely walked all the way there for nothing.

"June?" A voice questioned as the door opened slowly, moments after she knocked. "Where were you?"

June blinked a few times, effectively expelling some of the mascara that was clouding her vision. It was Allie, looking angrier than she ever had when interacting with June. The blonde girl ushered the girl in before closing the door and leading her upstairs.

"Why didn't you show up to the hardware store?" Allie accused as the entered her room. She dug through her drawers for dry clothes June could pull on.

"I sent Grizz, didn't he tell you guys?" June shivered as she accepted the clothes Allie was handing to her.

"No, he just said you were busy, but wouldn't tell us what you were doing." Allie folded her arms over her chest as she took a seat on her bed. A bit of worry that June hadn't realized she was holding in fell away. She was suddenly confident Grizz wouldn't tell anyone what she told him when she was drunk.

"Well, I met up with Elle to talk," June shrugged as she peeled off the wet clothes and tugged on the dry ones. She did her best to ignore the hurt in her chest from just thinking about Elle.

"Elle Tomkins?" Allie questioned incredulously. "Whatever. First, you leave Harry's party without telling me where you were going, then you don't show up to the hardware store when you said you would—"

"Wait, don't act like you cared what I was doing at Harry's party," June cut her off, growing angry at her words.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Allie narrowed her eyes at the girl.

"It means you ignored me all night! How long did it even take for you to notice I was gone? While Harry was 'showing you something' in his room!" June found her voice raising as she grew more and more angry. Allie scoffed and rolled her eyes before throwing a venomous look back at the girl.

"You're really going to go there? Alright. If we're judging each other's decisions, you're the one who woke up in Grizz's bed and didn't know where you were."

"It wasn't like that!" June shot back, throwing her hands up in the air. "Grizz slept on the couch! Because he was being a good friend all night! Which is way more than I can say for you."

"Oh, so I'm a bad friend now?" Allie stood and walked towards the girl. Their shouts were undoubtedly waking everyone in the house, but neither girl seemed to care.

"Well, you were tonight! God, do you even realize what an asshole Harry is?" June shook her head. Normally, she'd back down from this type of confrontation, but she seemed to have a newfound confidence. Perhaps it was still the leftover alcohol.

"You know what, you're just jealous." Allie conceded, getting closer to the girl.

"Jealous?" June scoffed.

"Yeah, jealous. Harry's never even given you a second look." Allie spat, now inches from the girl's face.

June rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. She had had the second worst night of her life, and Allie couldn't even seem to own up to her mistakes. What did June have to be jealous of? An entitled white boy who had been nothing but mean to her? She was certain, even if she weren't into girls, she wouldn't be jealous of someone being with Harry.

She wondered how Allie could be so blind. When June looked at Allie, she saw a brilliant, beautiful girl who deserved so much better than Harry Bingham and Will LeClair. She wished that the girl could see her own self-worth. That she could see herself the way June saw her.

June let her eyes return back to Allie. She narrowed them at the girl before they fell to her lips. Without giving it a second thought, she closed the distance between them, planting her lips firmly on her friend's. She realized, maybe Allie was right, maybe she was jealous. But, not because she wanted Harry.

She wanted what Harry had.
