YOU'RE NOT SPECIAL

CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT  - TAYLOR SWIFT

──── CHAPTER XXIV

Finn had finally gotten the Ghost family to Ryker's Georgia home. Everybody had began getting their bags and stuff out of the car, her parents helping each other with the baby. Finn helping Pierce, Silas, and Ryder with their bags.

"Yo, Ryke! Keys!" Silas shouted in Rykers direction and watched her gently toss her keys at him, Silas effortlessly catching them, tossing them to Pierce who was at the door.

The eldest siblings ran off into their sisters house, jetting off to the kitchen for drinks while everybody was still outside with their bags. Ryker agreed to carry the diaper bag, not for her mom, but for her baby brother.

Finn looked at Ryker who had tear stained cheeks and walked over to his girlfriend, putting his arm around her shoulders as they walked inside behind her parents, kissing her head.

She smiled weakly at Finn as she put the diaper bag on the banister of her stairs, walking in the kitchen with her family and seeing Pierce and Silas laughing.

She let out a heavy sigh and gently slapped her palms against the counter to get their attention.

Everybody looked at her and she put her hood down. "Okay. Everybody, listen up!" She said, looking at her brothers mostly. "My cast is having a sleepover here tomorrow night. If you all can behave yourselves," She took a moment to glare at her parents. "around my co-stars and friends, I'll let you guys around them. Mom and Dad, go find something to do."

"You know,  talking that way to your parents is very impolite." Maeve said to her daughter to turned around and looked at her with a sarcastic smile.

"I prefer the term 'biological creators' because I thought parents were actually supposed to support their kids? give them a home? Instead of making them live on their own since they were 17?" She looked at them sideways, noticing them flinch and be put on the spot.

"Mom, Dad, what is she talking about?" Ryder questioned his parents who looked down at him. "I thought you said she had to live here because of her show?"

"Oh, is what they told you?" Ryker looked at her thirteen year old brother. "That is so like them." She chuckled to herself, looking up at her mother. "Why don't you go ahead and tell him the real story, mother?"

"Ryker, don't do this." Maeve spoke to her daughter who looked at her with anger coated all over her face.
"Not in front of your brother, and not in front of your friend."

"Oh, why not? You don't want my fourteen year old brother to know that you kicked me out because I'm queer? Is that what it is? You don't want him to see you differently?" Ryker questioned, crossing her arms over her chest. "You don't him to know the real reason his sister moved away when he was ten? Because his parents are homophobic and kicked out his big sister because they didn't approve of me liking girls as well as guys because it goes against your beliefs? You wanna raise him to be just like you?"

"Ryker, don't yell at your mother! You are being very rude." Andrew spoke up, looking at his daughter who had anger turning into fury. "She has been nothing but polite to you."

"Oh, you mean like that time she yelled and screamed at me and said there will never be a queer welcomed in her house? Was that you being polite?"

"Ryker, if you don't cut it out!" Maeve spoke to her daughter and looked down at her son in her arms. "All this screaming is gonna upset the baby!"

"Having you as a mother is upsetting enough." She muttered, grabbing her water bottle off the counter and running up the stairs.

"Ryker!" Finn called out as he heard her bedroom door slam, he quickly ran up the stairs after his girlfriend and opened her bedroom door, seeing her sitting on her bed. "It's just me."

He leaned his back against the door, knowing she needed space. When she was this upset, physical touch and eye contact was her worst enemy. So he looked at the floor and leaned away from her, respecting what she needed.

Finn always knew what she needed when she would have intense reactions. Unless she stated otherwise, he wasn't going to hug her or look her in the eye because he knew her well enough to know what she needed without her having to vocalize it anymore.

"Do you...wanna talk?" He questioned, keeping his distance still, and keeping his back against the door incase her family tried to open it.

"If I knew they were coming, I would've called off this whole trip. They can't show up and act like everything's fine! The last time I saw them, I was running out of the door while hearing the most vile words being thrown out at me." She wiped her tears and nose, pulling her hoodie over her head and began folding it neatly. "I haven't seen them since I was fifteen. And now I learn they told Ryder I left him? Hell no! I wanted to be there for my baby brother! I never would've left him! If anything, my mother left me! Not the other way around."

"Pierce should've told you they were coming. They knew. It's disrespectful they didn't." Finn commented. "I love your brothers like they're my own, you know that. But they did a really shitty thing."

"It was shitty, I know. But they've been trying to rekindle my relationship with our parents for as long as I-"

She was cut off by a knock on the door. Ryker looked at Finn with furrowed eyebrows and he gave her a confused look as well before he stepped out of her way to let her open the door.

Luckily for her, it was just Ryder.

She stood out of his way and let him walk in her room. She would never push her younger brother away because of her parents, he didn't do anything to her.

"Hey, bud. I hope you're okay with Finn being here." She said as she hugged her brother tightly, sitting on the bed afterwards and watching her brother sit next to her.

"He's fine, I don't mind." Ryder commented, smiling at Finn politely and looking up at his sister. "Can I talk to you about something?"

"Of course. Anything." She responded, looking over at Finn with a concerned look.

"Finn, can you keep a secret?" Ryder asked his sisters boyfriend. "Please?"

"Of course. What's up, buddy?"

"You know how you were talking about being bisexual?" He asked Ryker who nodded gently, sneaking glances at Finn. "Well, I..." His eyes started welling with tears. "I'm gay."

Ryker smiled and cupped her hands over her mouth, eyes welling up with tears as she pulled her little brother into the tightest hug ever.

"Oh, my goodness. Ryder. I love you with all of my heart." She hugged him tightly. "You never have to be afraid of telling me that. I promise!" She pulled out of the hug and cupped his cheeks. "This will stay between us until you're ready to tell everybody else, okay? I promise. I am so proud of you."

"Congrats, little guy!" Finn walked over to the boy and hugged him gently. "You feel good now that it's off your chest?"

"I do." He smiled and wiped his eyes.

"Good. And don't worry. This doesn't leave this room." Finn held up his pinky finger and watched Ryder link their pinkies. "You've got a good support system behind you."

"After finding out about mom, I don't think I ever wanna tell her." Ryder spoke sadly.

"I would never encourage you to keep your true self hidden, but it's definitely best while you're still young." Ryker suggested to her brother. "You can live with me if you decide to tell her."

"So, little guy, you got a boyfriend?" Finn playfully nudged his knee and watched him and Ryker laugh together, but his cheeks turned bright red.

"Oooh!! Do you?"
"I...might."

Ryker squealed and hugged Ryder tightly. "You are telling me every little detail about him when you're comfortable."

"Sounds great. Oh! And you're telling me every little detail about this." Ryder waved his finger between Ryker and Finn and watched the two laugh. "I love you. I gotta go downstairs before mom gets worried."

"I love you." She smiled and watched as he was about to walk out, seeing their mother standing there in with a small smile on her face. Ryder quickly slipped past Maeve, walking down the stairs as fast as he could.

Rykers smile immediately dropping, she looked away from the door. "You can leave at any time, you know."

"I know you'd love that." Maeve responded, walking in her room. "Finn, do you mind if I have a moment alone with my daughter?"

Finn's eyes widened and he looked up at his girlfriend for the answer. "Uh-" He said as he slowly started standing up.

"He can stay."  Ryker gently pushed him back in his seat, to which he smiled and grabbed her left hand gently. "Whatever you have to say to me, he's gonna hear it anyway."

"Ryker, I beg of you; Five minutes."

"After five years you only have so little to say to me it'll take five minutes?" She looked at her with disgust in her eyes. "Unbelievable."

"I'll make it as long of time as you'll give me." Maeve pleaded with her daughter. "Please?"

Ryker looked at Finn, then at her mother, sighing heavily as she closed her eyes, making a fist with her right hand, forgetting about the wounds from before and seething gently, unable to believe that she was actually considering letting her mother speak to her for a period of time.

She let out a sigh of defeat. "Okay. Fine."

"You want me to give you guys space?" Finn asked his girlfriend and watched her nod slowly. "I'll be downstairs if you need me, okay?"

"Thank you." She smiled, feeling him drop her hand and watched him tread to the door, turning around with a smile and a silent 'good luck' and waited for the door to close to know he wasn't about to hear their conversation. "Okay, what?"

"Do I have your permission to speak?"
"Not like you need it, you'll vocalize your opinion either way."

Ryker sat down on her bed, unzipping her hoodie and sliding it off her shoulders to feel the cold air coming through the window hit her back as she looked at her mom.

"Ryker, I am very serious." Maeve spoke sternly to her daughter. "I have to tell you something important about me."

"You're pregnant with the fifth?" She questioned sarcastically. "Congrats! Gonna kick this one out too?"

"Ryker!" Maeve stated her name intensely. "If you would just listen to me for a few seconds."

"Start speaking. I'll be quiet." Ryker stood up and began decluttering her bookshelf, and organizing her books by size, anxiously shaking her hand back and forth as she picked up a red book, placing it in front of a purple one.

Maeve sighed and sat on the end of Rykers bed, watching her anxiously organize and slam her books onto the shelf, hearing her slightly shaken and uneven breathing. "I...want you to know something about me that I have never told anybody...but one other person. Not even your father knows."

Ryker furrowed her eyebrows and slowly turned around to face her mother, a confused look laying on her face as she questioned. "If dad doesn't know...Who's the other person?"

"I'm gonna get to that...eventually."
