YOU'RE NOT SPECIAL

TOLERATE IT - TAYLOR SWIFT

──── CHAPTER XXIII

Finn and Ryker had pulled up to the airport, Ryker exhaling heavily once they pulled up at the arrivals section of the airport. It's been awhile since the girl had seen her family, and now she has a boyfriend and a literal baby brother.

Safe to say, she wasn't all that excited about having to deal with her wild brothers and take care of a baby all while filming a TV show. But she's managed before, she can manage again. Besides, she had Finn by her side this time around.

The two sat in a comfortable silence with the only house being the music playing quietly on the aux. She looked over at Finn and sighed heavily with a smile on her face.

"You alright?" Finn asked his girlfriend who closed her eyes as she rested against the headrest of the passenger seat. "Ooh, I see Pierce."

"Oh, yay..." She rolled her eyes and got out of the car with a pleading look in her eyes. "Wish me luck. And good luck to you."

"It won't be that bad." Finn opened his car door and walked towards his girlfriend who was frowning and wrapped his arms around her. "Cheer up, babe, it's not gonna be horrible." He placed a kiss to her forehead. "They spotted us."

"I'm sure they did." She whispered and stepped away from him, watching her two older brothers run towards her. She loves her brothers, it was her parents she had to worry about. She put on her best smile and took 'fake it til you make it' literally. "Pierce! Silas!"

"Ryker!" They shouted in unison at their little sister, hugging her tightly in a group hug when they felt another pair of arms wrap around them, tinier arms.

"Ryder!" She smiled pulling out of the hug and hugged her thirteen year old brother. "My baby boy! I was so afraid you'd be taller than me by now!"

"That couldn't happen, Ry, you're a giant." Ryder responded to his older sister once they pulled out of the hug. "Mom and Dad are still waiting for their bags. We wanted to see you before the chaos erupted."

"Mom and Dad? Chaos?" She looked at them sideways, and back at Finn with wide eyes.

Finn's eyebrow rose in curiosity as he stepped behind her and put his hands on her shoulders. "Hey, Ghosts!"

"Finn, buddy!" Silas said in excitement. "I hear you're dating our sister?"

"Who told you that?" Finn joked, wrapping his arm around Ryker who's heart was pounding out of her chest.

"Well, your arms around her, and this text she sent us about the TMZ article we sent her saying, 'Yes, it's true. Don't tell Mom and Dad."

"Oh, okay." Finn nodded and chuckled, looking over at the airport doors. "I thought you said it was just your brothers coming?"

"It was supposed to be?" She looked up and saw her mom, dad, and her moms new husband. Shocked was the last word she'd use to describe her reaction. She looked back at Finn and nudged her head into his chest. "I seriously hope I die."

"I'm sorry." Silas apologized to his baby sister. "We were gonna tell you...we just didn't know how."

"I haven't seen them in a long time. I don't wanna see them now." She sighed heavily taking a deep breath as she looked away from her parents direction and walked towards the car.

"Ry-Ryker!" Finn called out for her but she closed the passenger door before he could say anything. He looked back at her brothers and watched them nod to let him know they'll give him a minute with her.

He whispered a small "Thanks." and quickly walked to drivers side, opening the door and sliding himself inside quickly. "Hey...you alright?"

Ryker wiped her nose and looked down at her bleeding palms from her digging her nails into her skin too hard.

"Ryker." Finn noticed her bleeding palms and held her hands with his own to stop her from making it worse.

"I haven't seen them since I told them." She whispered softly. "They hated me after. Especially my mom. They've reached out and tried to apologize, but...I never went back." Ryker explained to him. "I don't know how to face them."

Finn wrapped his arms around her tightly, gently running his fingers through her hair with a comforting shushing. "You're okay." He whispered into her ear and kissed her forehead, pulling away and cupping her cheeks, wiping away her tears. "It'll be okay. Just breathe, I'm right here, always. I love you."

"Thank you." She pulled out of Finn's arms and leaned back in the chair, exhaling heavily as she looked at her brothers sitting outside, talking to their parents. "We have to get them to my house, though. It's getting late."

"I'll be right here with you." Finn grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it. "You prepared for the car ride home?"

"Yeah, right." She giggled and wiped her eyes. "Let's, uh, get going."

"Yeah." Finn smiled and watched her get out of the car, sighing once her door closed, shrinking down in his seat, staring at his girlfriend from the windshield.

There was just one thing that crossed his mind.

Why did Ryker never say 'I love you' back?

He's said it many times and he was scared, why has she never said it? Was she scared? Was she unsure of their relationship? Has he given her any reason to doubt him since they got back together?

He was brought back to reality when he heard the car doors open and the trunk pop open. He looked back and saw Ryker angrily shoving her brothers suitcases into the trunk as she walked to the passenger door.

Once she got in the car, sitting in her seat and angrily huffed as she buckled her seatbelt, Finn knew he was in for a car ride of a lot of fighting.

"If you hit the gas in reverse and run them all over right now, I will literally do whatever you want." Ryker spoke. You could hear the anger in her voice as she put the hood of her sweatshirt over her head, staring at the rain still sliding down the windows.

"What's going on?"
"I-"

Ryker was cut off by her brothers opening the doors. She felt like she couldn't breathe. The more people climbed in the car, the heavier her chest got.

"Okay, everybody in?" Maeve, Ryker's mom, asked the kids, who all echoed their affirmatives. "Ryker?"

"Yup." She dryly said to her mother, shrinking in her seat. Holding onto Finn's hand as she leaned over, whispering, "Get us home as fast as possible."

"Of course." He said to his girlfriend, giving her hand a comforting squeeze. "It'll be alright."

"I hope."
