Black boots come in contact with the ground and celerity increases too fast. At night, the empty streets, crunching noises of heavy footsteps fill the silence as he speeds up. The glorious moon and luminous stars that burn up the sky prevent him from running completely blind in the darkness of the alleys.
Some blocks further away, street lamps light up the city. Even though Seoul is quite big, there are few people outside like in the daytime. Panting, the person runs out of air the moment he turns at the next corner. Brown eyes search for anywhere to hide that can give him a moment to rest and collect his breath.
He sees the deep-sunk roof of a one-story building, next to it, an emergency staircase.
Perfect!
"Stand still!" Behind him, a deep and furious voice shouts as he's about to take a step forward. It sends his heart into a frenzy, afraid of being caught.
Instead of listening, he adjusts his mouth mask, climbs the stairs and sprints along the flat glass roof. He keeps running, no time to look back, fearful that they will catch up with him at any minute. Unfortunately, he fails to notice a break in the glass and his following steps end up mid-air in the dark building.
"Fuck," he curses under his breath when he hits the ground, feeling the pain in his butt from the fall. Hoping to somehow reduce it, he gently rubs it and stands up with a groan. Hopefully, there's nothing sprained.
As he looks around he discerns the outlines of children's toys, some chairs, tables, and cupboards. Where the hell did he end up?
It's when he sees a door straight ahead of him and starts to walk towards it, that he hears noises coming from outside—or more precisely, from the rooftop. Shit.
Immediately, he runs to the door (which, thank God isn't locked) and opens it a tad too harshly, causing it to slam against the wall in a loud bang!. But he couldn't care less for what he knows. All he cares for is having to find a way out somehow before they catch him.
He feels his heartbeat quickening in his chest, eyes wide and frantically looking around, taking quick glimpses of his surroundings to be sure they haven't caught up with him yet.
Rushing out of the room, he steps into a long hallway with lots of other doors on the sides. Slowly, his eyes adjust to the darkness, making it easier for him to discern more things.
Through a window, he sees a courtyard with swings and other kinds of equipment in all colours of the rainbow. Furrowing his brows and trying not to panic, he attempts to open every door in order to find an exit—but almost all of them are locked. which definitely isn't making it easier on him either.
He's so occupied with trying to find a way out that he stumbles over a toddler's toy lying in the way, causing him to lose his balance and almost collide with the wall. However he quickly straightens himself up, and thanks whoever gave him fast reaction skills.
Hushed voices in the other room let him assume that the others have found their way in and are probably dying to catch him. His pulse quickens, so much that he can hear the beating in his ears and his breathing becomes louder.
Eventually, he finds a half-open, tilted window with which he finds his way out through, struggling. He expects to finally jump in the air in joy and calm his panic, what he does not expect, however, are the two men in dark blue uniforms staring at him with piercing eyes.
"Sir, we have him," one speaks into the earpiece.
The male has never felt more cheated and devastated in his life.
.
.
"The court hearing is therefore closed. 19-year-old Jeon Jungkook is hereby obliged to provide 150 community hours in the kindergarten to cover for the costs of repairs of the roof."
The said male rolls his eyes at the announcement and crosses his arms over his chest as he leans back in the chair.
Fucking great.

On the other side of the city, it's in the middle of the night that Jimin's sleeping rhythm is cut off. After hours of being restless, his eyes fell shut as he finally found the right spot and fell asleep peacefully. The day had been a stressful one, and having had lots of stuff on his mind wasn't exactly helping.
However, he was neither awakened by his anxious thoughts nor was he awakened by an alarm clock set to wake him up early in the morning. No, it was rather the loud sound of crying, coming from the room next to his.
Tossing the blanket to the side with a tired groan, Jimin gets up with bowed shoulders and half-lidded eyes. He rushes into the room with rapid strides, a worried expression on his face. As the cries get louder, Jimin hurries over to the bed and quickly scoops his bundle of joy into his arms.
"Shhh baby... " Jimin shushes and places a kiss on top of his head while he softly caresses his baby's soft cheeks. "You're okay, I'm here now. Why are you crying sweetheart?"
"N-nightmare," the little boy stutters, burying his head into Jimin's chest. There's not much noise in the room other than Minjun's small sniffles.
"Oh, baby," Jimin coos and hugs Minjun a little tighter. Nightmares suck, no matter who you are, and Jimin knew all about it.
The blue cloud night lamp on the night table next to Minjun's bed wasn't on either, Jimin scolds himself for forgetting.
"What do you say to sleeping in my bed tonight, hmm?" The boy quickly nods, clinging to Jimin like a lifeline.
"I'm not gonna disappear, don't worry," the male chuckles softly at the boy in his arms but feels himself tear up right after. He wipes the leftover tears from Minjun's cheeks with his thumb, his heart breaking from the sight of his baby with tear-stained cheeks and puffy eyes.
Tightening his arms around Minjun's small figure, Jimin brings him into his room and carefully lies him down, being cuddled the exact second he lies down.
He places another kiss on his forehead and cradles the boy in his arms before he closes his eyes with a heavy heart.
I will try my best to make you happy every day. Even when things get harder.
