𓏲 ࣪₊♡𓂃 COFFEE WAS ADDICTING and in Sophie's opinion, it was more addictive than any drug or alcohol but she didn't indulge in those illegal substances, so how would she know? Layla always insisted that alcohol was way more addictive than coffee and declared that Sophie had no idea what she was talking about, but they agreed to disagree nonetheless.

Coffee was a comfort drink for her, it was warm and bitter and she always added plenty of milk so that it was milky too, almost like hot cocoa but it was filled to the brim with caffeine and tasted nothing like chocolate. She used coffee to get through her moving on from Jacob phase, specifically Mostra coffee, there was something about it that added to the milkiness, making it cozy.

Outside her kitchen window sat plenty of trees, but they were quite a distance away from her house just swaying in the wind. It was the summer yet everything was still wet and cold, it irritated her as much as she was used to it and they'd get sunny days every once in a while but hardly ever, it sucked to tell the truth.

She sipped on her cup of coffee, her slightly pink tinted lip balm leaving a glossy mark on the rim of the ceramic and she leaned forwards, her elbows leaning onto the table in front of her. Footsteps erupted from the hallway, pulling Sophie from her thoughts but she didn't bother to look towards the noise, her eyes glued to the dancing trees.

The footsteps entered the kitchen and stopped in front of the sink, the faucet turning on and the person cleared their throat, informing Sophie it was in fact her father, "You've gotta stop with that coffee, it's gonna rot your brains." His Australian accent was thick as he spoke and he turned off the tap, shaking the water from his hands.

Henry St. James approached his daughter and tapped her temple, causing her to groan, wiping the water from the side of her face with a grimace, "God, Dad!" She rolled her eyes, placing her cup down on the table and a laugh erupted from his lips as he took a seat at the small table across from her, picking up his latest book.

"It worked though, didn't it?" He raised a brow at her, leaning back in the wooden chair as he began to read his book and she rolled her eyes again, kicking his shin under the table with the tip of her slippers, "Ow!" He furrowed his eyebrows, glaring at her playfully and she smiled, tilting her head innocently.

"Oops." She muttered, shrugging before she lifted her cup back up from the table, taking a sip of the now lukewarm coffee, causing her to grimace, "Great, now it's cold." Sophie huffed, pushing herself up from the table and she strolled towards the sink, pouring the rest of the milky liquid down the drain.

"What a waste." Henry muttered sarcastically, a proud grin on his lips as he stared down at his pages and she looked over at him, her eyes narrowed. The two always teased one another and her mother, Corrine, was always the mediator but mostly for Henry, she usually just gave him that stare and he'd always stop.

"I'm gonna feed Jericho and head over to Embry's." Sophie informed her father, who continued to stare down at his book and she made her way towards the doorway leading to the hallway.

"Alrighty." He lifted his hand and saluted her, his eyes glued to the words on the paper and she spun around, walking backwards as she saluted him back, not that he could see. She headed down the hallway and up the stairs, hearing her mother humming to a song in her head in the shower when she headed down the corridor.

She entered her bedroom, closing the door behind her and she let out a tired sigh, staring over at her blue beta fish swimming in the rather large rectangle tank she had for him in the corner of her bedroom. The youngest St. James headed over, bending down in front of the storage cabinet under the tank to grab the flakes.

It took her a few minutes to feed her fish, she usually just stands and watches Jericho eat his food. She didn't know why, maybe she was just tired or hungry herself, it was one or the other but she was way too tired to figure out which option it was — it was exhaustion.

"I love you, Jericho." She muttered, brushing some of her dark brown hair behind her ear as she let out another sigh, pouting out her bottom lip, "Yeah... I expected you wouldn't say it back." She huffed, spinning around to head for her closet and she flung the doors open, placing her hands on her hips whilst she figured out what to wear.

Sophie ended up deciding on blue flared jeans and a grey hoodie, an outfit she always wore. She brushed through her straight hair and pulled her black and white vans on before she hopped in front of the tall mirror leaning against the wall, staring at her reflection with a fake smile.

Her smile immediately dropped and she spun around, grabbing her bag from her bed before she exited her bedroom, heading towards the stairs only to be stopped by her mother who was clad in a hair towel and a body towel, dripping wet from head to toe, "Where are you off to?"

Sophie looked over and forced a smile at the sight of her beautiful mother, but her eyes were pulled away when she heard the steps creaking, her father making his way up the stairwell, "She's off to Embry's to probably drink more bleedin' coffees." Henry rolled his eyes, squeezing through the gap between his daughter and the banister.

The youngest St. James scoffed, furrowing her brows in disbelief towards her father who approached his wife, pressing a quick loving kiss to her cheek, "For your information, that is what I'm doing. Is that okay, Mom?" She glanced over at her mother, who nodded, a huge gorgeous grin on her lips.

"Of course, honey and if you're staying the night, just text me. Stay safe." Corrine St. James blew a kiss to her daughter, watching with a smile as the girl caught it and slapped her hand gently onto her cheek with a sweet giggle. Henry watched with a grin, entering the bathroom as Sophie headed down the staircase, exiting right through the door.

She headed down the porch steps when a loud laugh erupted from next door and she looked over to see Bella Swan and Edward Cullen outside of the Swan house, washing her red truck. Refraining from rolling her eyes, Sophie made her way towards her own car, unlocking it with the keys she held tightly in her hand, the sharp house key unknowingly digging into her skin from the force.

"Fuck." Sophie winced, looking down at her now bleeding hand and she let out a loud huff, opening the driver's door to her silver Pontiac G8. Once inside of the vehicle, she held onto her wrist as she stared down at the small wound and the brunette squeezed her eyes shut, wiping the blood on the inside of her sleeve without another care in the world.

She started the engine and switched on the radio, Michael Jackson's voice sounding out throughout the small vehicle, making a smile appear on her face, a real genuine smile. She drove out of the driveway and onto the road, heading towards the Reservation as she sang quietly along to Michael Jackson and Avril Lavigne songs and watched the dark green trees fly by the windows as if she was in an airplane.

Eventually, she arrived at Embry's and she pulled up to his driveway only to see Quil Ateara and Jacob laughing together as they headed towards Embry's house, "My day could not get any worse." She muttered to herself with a groan, turning off the engine and she grabbed her bag and keys before taking a deep breath and exiting the car.

Like clockwork, Quil immediately noticed her and pointed out her presence to Jacob, rushing over to her almost instantly after noticing her, "Look who it is, Miss Annie." Sophie couldn't help but smile at the nickname and she spread out her arms towards him, giggling when he practically jumped into her arms.

Sophie looked over at Jacob over Quil's shoulder, but she didn't glare like she always dreamed about, instead she smiled. She was a sweet soul, the sweetest Jacob had ever met, the funniest one too and so he smiled back at her in greeting. The St. James girl was unable to hold grudges as much as the person had hurt her, she just wouldn't but she did distance herself, and Jake caught on, left wondering what he did wrong.

"Are you coming to see Em too?" The youngest boy asked, bouncing up and down on his heels out of excitement and Sophie nodded, a sweet smile on her glossed lips.

"Oh, come on, I'm always here." She rolled her eyes playfully with a small laugh, throwing her arm around his shoulders considering they were similar heights and she led him to the front door, Jacob slowly trailing behind.

She opened the door and the three were immediately engulfed by a sweet smell of cinnamon rolls and hot coffee, meaning that Sophie kicked her shoes off and sped into the kitchen, a huge grin on her lips at the sight of Mrs. Call in the kitchen, the woman who knew of Sophie's arrival.

"Just for you, my dear." She pointed towards the tall cup of coffee on the island and laughed at the sight of Sophie's love-heart eyes towards the cup of hot goodness. A wide smile made its way onto her lips and she giggled loudly in excitement, running over to Mrs. Call to wrap her in a huge embrace.

"I swear I love you, Mrs. Call. Thank you!" The aforementioned woman patted the sixteen-year-old on the head with a laugh, watching as she rushed over to the cup, immediately taking a sip. Jacob and Quil entered the room side-by-side, the latter smiling at Sophie who was taking a seat at one of the island stools.

"Hi, Mrs. Call, I need to pee, I'll tell Em to come down." Quil told them and Sophie grimaced, shaking her head with a small laugh as Quil rushed out of the kitchen and up the stairs. Jacob approached, letting out an amused scoff of his own as he sat down on the stool beside hers, picking up a cinnamon roll from the tray on the counter.

"You didn't even ask." Sophie muttered, rolling her eyes discreetly at the sight of the Black boy taking a massive bite of the dessert considering he hadn't heard her or he just didn't want to hear her, he was used to it.

"Whatever happened to you two? I swear you used to be together all the time." Mrs. Call sent them both a comforting smile, her hands gripping the edge of the island and they both stayed silent, unsure of what to reply with.

They were still friends... sorta, Jacob always tried to call her and message her but he never received a reply and whenever he attempted to speak with her face to face, she'd always avoid him as if he'd done something terribly wrong. Embry and Quil apparently didn't know anything and he didn't bother asking Layla, who always sent him threatening death glares for whatever reason.

"I'm wondering the same, Mrs. Call." Jacob turned his head towards the quiet Sophie, the straw to the cup of coffee between her lips. She side-eyed him when a creek erupted from the doorway and she turned quickly, a grin appearing on her lips.

"Embers!" Sophie placed the cup down on the island and jumped up, running into his arms with a huge smile. Of course, she'd seen him just yesterday but that was ages ago, it felt like a millennium ago in Sophie's mind.

"Soph!" Embry chuckled, his long hair swaying as he held her up in the air, spinning around on the spot until he finally placed her back down on the ground with another laugh. Jacob continued to eat his cinnamon roll, clearly unbothered whilst Mrs. Call watched, a heartwarming smile on her tanned face.

The front door opened and all four in the kitchen, including Quil who was making his way down the stairs looked towards the noise, watching as Layla Newton entered the hallway, closing the door behind her with a wide tight-lipped smile, "What's up, gang?"

"Oh, my angel!" Sophie moved out of Embry's grasp and rushed into her cousin's arms, the two young girls erupting into a fit of laughter as they held each other tightly.

"Hey, don't leave me out!" Quil rushed down the rest of the steps and threw his arms around both of the girls, now all three of them laughing their asses off.

"Me too!" Mrs. Call threw the tea towel in her hands down onto the counter and rushed towards them in the hollow hallway, wrapping her slender arms around the three teenagers with a light giggle. The four continued to laugh and hug whilst Embry looked over at a bored Jacob who continued to eat his sweet treat in silence.

The older boy approached him, sitting down at the island beside him and he picked up a cinnamon roll of his own, taking a bite out of it with a smile, "Yum... Have I ever called you an idiot before?" Embry looked over at Jacob, who pushed some hair out of his face with a roll of his eyes.

"Yep." Jacob popped the 'p', bored of their conversation because he knew exactly what Embry was going to reply with. The said boy turned, glancing back at a laughing Sophie for a moment before he paused, looking back at Jacob with a smirk.

"Good, that's because you are one." Embry chuckled, taking another bite of his roll before he stood up, heading towards his mother and friends, joining in on the laughs whilst Jacob stayed put, finishing off his dessert, left with his own thoughts.

He didn't even know what he did to become an idiot, he'd spent ages trying to figure it out. Sophie was a sweetheart, at first he expected her to eventually let him know what he'd done to make her dislike him so much, but he was wrong, he was so wrong.

Jake believed she was being dramatic about whatever he'd done, but when Embry began to call him out for his unknown actions, he began to actually question the seriousness of it all.
