TAYLOR SWIFTS VOICE BLASTED THROUGH DYLAN'S bedroom as she danced around in her pajamas. in her mind though, dylan wasn't wearing pajamas. her plaid shorts and white crop top were really a metallic skirt and a bedazzled top in her imaginary dream world. she also wasn't just performing in front of all her stuffed animals, she was actually in a stadium filled to the brim with thousands of screaming fans.
suddenly the beat slowed down and dylan put her hairbrush up to her mouth, ready to give the best performance of her life. she watched taylor on her television as she performed and copied all of her moves.
"please take my hand and please take me dancing and please leave me stranded. it's so romantic!" dylan sang loudly, and terribly, as she fanned her face in mock blush.
the teenage girl leaned back and danced her arms through the air, letting taylor talk as she prepared for her favorite part. dylan couldn't have been more happy that her dad was busy tonight, she needed one last performance before she was back in school the next day.
"there's one thing you should know about me before we begin. i was born in 1989!" dylan exclaimed loudly, throwing her arm up in the air for dramatic effect.
the girl ran and hopped onto her bed, jumping around while dancing and pointing at her large stuffed teddy bear stiles had won for her at the carnival a few years ago.
she had never been more ecstatic than she was when stiles handed her the large bear she had her eyes on the whole night. she couldn't believe stiles had actually spent and hour and a half trying to win it but there was no way he was giving up until he saw that smile on her face. stiles had spent his entire life doing everything he could to put a smile on dylan's face and he wasn't going to let a carnival game stop him.
dylan had proceeded to name the large stuffed animal beary stiles, in honor of stiles and of course harry styles. beary stiles hadn't missed on of her imaginary concerts since then.
the song came to an end and dylan quickly slammed down onto her bed in exhaustion. she breathed heavily as she laid on her back, feeling the sweat drip from her forehead. though as she regained her breath she suddenly heard a creak from her floor boards.
she immediately covered her face with her hands in embarrassment, assuming it was her father arriving home and he had to have heard the tail end of her concert.
"dad, please tell me you didn't hear all of that." dylan groaned as she leaned up and looked over to her open door.
dylan expected to see her father leaning against the door frame with a horrified look, awaiting his opportunity for a sarcastic response. instead dylan was met with a dark and empty hallway causing her eyebrows to furrow.
"dad?" she questioned, lightly raising her voice to get a response.
dylan was only met with silence and taylor swift playing in the background. she leaned over to her bed side table and grabbed her remote to pause the television. she was soon in complete silence, only the sound of her own breathing accompanying her.
she shrugged lightly and went to unpause her tv but soon came to a complete halt when the noise arose again. this time the noise was closer and way louder than it was previously. dylan slowly got up from her bed and looked around for her phone to call stiles or scott but was unable to find it. she approached her doorway that led out to the hallway above the stair case.
she peaked her head out and around the door frame but it was too dark to see much. she called out for her father once more but was again met with nothing but the loud noise. dylan backed up and looked around for a weapon but could only find the hairbrush she previously used as a microphone. she grabbed it up quickly and made her way down the stairs as slowly and quietly as possible.
she made it to the bottom of her stairs, her feet meeting the cold hard wood floor. she looked around but saw nothing suspicious. the room was only lit up by the moonlight from outside. her head snapped to the left as she heard a sound coming from the kitchen. she took a deep breath and approached the kitchen slowly.
as she entered she didn't see much at first until she noticed two tall figures coming towards her and screamed as loud as she could. fear raced through her body as she began swinging the hairbrush around at the two figures, being met with screams back.
"dylan! dylan! stop it's us!" a familiar voice yelled out in pain and she narrowed her eyes, trying to see who was talking to her.
it finally resonated with her that the voice belonged to none other than one of her best friends scott mccall. she continued to scream but due to anger now instead of fear. she leaned over and flicked the lights on and was met with out of breath and red faced teenage boys.
"what the actual fuck are you guys doing?" she seethed in anger, hands on her knees as she tried to catch her breath.
"your phone kept sending us to voice mail!" stiles defended with his hands still up in surrender as he breathed heavily.
"i was busy!" dylan snapped as she looked between the two boys with a glare.
"busy pretending to be taylor swift?" scott retorted with a cheeky grin causing dylan to throw her hairbrush at him in embarrassment and scott fumbled to catch it.
"shut up! i could've killed you guys!" she pointed out the fact that she could've hurt them because she didn't know who they were. what if she had a knife or something?
"with a pink hairbrush?" stiles sarcastically asked, nodding to the hairbrush in scott's hands that she used as a weapon.
"tell that to the hairbrush imprint on your face, jackass." dylan remarked back and snatched the hairbrush out of scott's hand and pointed it at stiles in the which he put his hands up in surrender once again with a smile.
scott looked over and noticed the pink mark on stiles face from the hairbrush and laughed loudly. stiles scoffed and smacked the boy on the chest while mumbling "asshole". dylan chuckled at her friends and threw the hairbrush onto the kitchen island.
"what exactly are you guys doing here?" dylan questioned them once again, hands on her hips as she raised an eyebrow.
stiles barely heard her question as he noticed her clothing. her soft plaid shorts showed off her perfectly tanned legs and smooth skin. her white crop top hugged her chest and showed off the stomach that was also freshly tanned from the summer. her black hair with pink highlights was throw up into a high ponytail that put her long neck on display. her clear glasses sat perfectly on her nose and framed her face beautifully.
stiles felt a hard hit to his stomach and let out a grunt. he looked over at scott in annoyance but scott gave him a look that said "you're making it too obvious." stiles looked over to dylan and realized that she had asked him a question and he simply checker her out instead of answering.
"oh! we're on a mission." stiles finally responded and felt his cheeks heat up from slight embarrassment and, well, from the hairbrush.
"a mission to give me a heart attack? because if so, mission accomplished." dylan retorted once more considering her heart was still trying to slow down.
"no this is way more interesting than teenage myocardial infarctions." stiles quipped, excited to tell her about the phone call her had overheard.
"gee, thanks." dylan joked lightly and walked over to the kitchen stools to take a seat.
"apparently a random dead body is more important than yours." scott noted causing dylan to choke on her own spit and her eyes to widen.
"dead body?!" she exclaimed in disbelief. what the hell are these boys dragging her along to now?
"dammit scott! you ruined my moment! i wanted to tell her!" stiles threw his head back and groaned in annoyance.
"sorry dude i'm trying to hurry this up. i need sleep for lacrosse tomorrow." scott defended himself, taking a seat next to dylan and resting his forearms against the cold granite.
"what does he mean by dead body? stiles, what did you do?" dylan slightly worried that stiles' sarcasm might have actually killed someone this time.
"nothing! listen, you've got to hear this! my dad rushed out of the house like thirty minutes ago in a total frenzy. he had his gun and everything." stiles began to explain, waving his hands around with thrill seeping from his tone.
"okay and? he's the sherif. isn't that sort of normal?" dylan asked as she leaned her cheek against her hand, look up at stiles.
"no, it's not normal this time because i overheard his call from dispatch. they're bringing in every single officer from the beacon department and even state police!" stiles smiled his goofy smile that almost made dylan chuckle at his excitement.
"they found a dead body?" dylan asked, her curiosity sparking as her mind filled with questions.
"no, two joggers in the woods found one." stiles corrected.
"oh my god, no way! someone was murdered?" dylan jumped up from her seat, her excitement suddenly matching stiles'.
this is exactly why stiles and dylan were best friend friends. she always found the gruesome things he loved just as exciting as he did while most thought they were gross, including scott. dylan's and stiles watched murder documentaries often while scott shook his head in disgust and tried to plug his ears.
"thank you for your excitement! i got absolutely nothing from scotty boy over here." stiles scoffed and motioned to scott who now had his head down and resting on his arms.
"it's ten thirty." scott yawned in what seemed like pure agony.
dylan's mind suddenly sparked with confusion, "wait, if they found the body then what is your dad looking for?"
"that's the best part! they only found half of the body." dylan's jaw dropped completely and stiles shook with excitement.
"oh...my...god!" dylan exclaimed loudly, slightly squealing.
"right?!" stiles exclaimed right back.
realization quickly hit dylan at how crazy this all was. her mind raced with so many thoughts and as gross as it sounded she couldn't wait to get down to the bottom of it all. her eyes widened with another thought and she raced towards stiles and slammed her hands onto his shoulders.
"this is just like the black dahlia! we're straight out of a freaking true crime documentary dude!" dylan shook the boys body as she stared up at him with thrill.
stiles raised his hands up and lightly rested them on the bare skin of her arms. his fingers burned at the contact and he felt his body heat up.
"i know! that's exactly why we have to go." stiles did his best at hiding the way his voice wavered due to the contact of her hands on his shoulders and his on her arms.
"oh, we're totally going." dylan assured while nodding.
"i hate you guys." scott groaned from the kitchen island causing the two teenagers to glare at him playfully.

THE THREE TEENAGERS PULLED UP TO the beacon hills preserve in stiles' blue jeep. stiles couldn't hop out of the hero fast enough, he couldn't wait to escape scott's complaining. the whole way there he tried to convince his two best friends that this was a bad idea but dylan and stiles assured him it would be awesome.
stiles ran around the front of the heel and opened dylan's door for her, something he had been doing since he got his license and she became his designated passenger. dylan thanked him and hopped out while burying herself in stiles jacket that he gave her. he tried to get her to change clothes but she said there was no time.
"you sure you're good?" stiles asked, worried she was going to be too cold despite her saying she would be fine multiple times.
"i'll be fine, dad." dylan retorted as the group approached the reserve sign.
"please don't get hypothermia, i won't have anyone to do my english homework." stiles practically begged as he turned on his flashlight, shining it into the woods.
dylan laughed and shook her head at his antics while walking. stiles heard the beautiful noise and smiled down at her affectionately. he had always loved the sound of her laugh. it sounded weird for a best friend to say but it was the truth. anyone who had heard dylan's laugh would probably agree. the sound felt like music to stiles ears and always sent pride through him when he was the cause of it.
"are we seriously doing this?" scott asked one last time, anxiety dripping off of his words.
"you're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town." stiles patted scott's shoulder and led the group past the reserve sign in which scott and dylan followed.
"i was trying to get a good nights sleep before practice tomorrow." scott reminded the two once again, as if he hadn't said it a total of ten thousand times already.
"right, cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort." stiles said sarcastically causing dylan to giggle lightly.
stiles and dylan walked quickly through the wooded area, dodging sticks and tree limbs. scott followed behind the two, trying to keep up with them.
"no, because i'm playing this year." scott boasted in a matter of fact way, "in fact, i'm making first line."
"HA!" dylan laughed loudly along with stiles, "you already tried becoming best friends with the coaches daughter and that got you nowhere. what more could you possibly do?"
scott groaned at the twos laughter and dylan's comment. dylan had said for years that the reason stiles and scott became friends with her was to get in good graces with her father. of course it was a joke considering the three had became friends when they were children and way before stiles and scott's lacrosse careers even started.
though it seemed that the closeness of the trio didn't matter to dylan's father. he was just as mean, maybe even meaner, to the two boys despite them being dylan's best friends. he always played it off like he couldn't stand the two boys but in reality they were like the sons he never had.
"i've already told you we aren't friends just because you're coaches daughter." scott argued, repeating what he always said when dylan brought up the topic jokingly.
"that's what they all say." dylan looked over her shoulder at her best friend behind her with a teasing smile.
"who's all? we're your only friends." scott replied sarcastically causing stiles to laugh and dylan to gasp in mock offense.
"whatever, bench boy." she retorted, rolling her neck and shrugging her shoulders lightly.
"you don't even play a sport dylan." scott pointed out as they all continued to voyage through the forest.
"with your nonexistent amount of playing time, you practically don't either." dylan snorted back, her words causing stiles to laugh hysterically and scott to scoff.
stiles looked down at the girl with a large smile as he shook his head lightly. one thing her always adored about dylan was how quick witted she was. it was hard for most to keep up with stiles' banter but dylan never faultered. she was just as sarcastic and witty as he was and apart of him felt like there was no one else out there who could do that.
"just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?" scott spoke up after a few minutes.
"huh." stiles chuckled and tilted his head to the side, "i didn't even think about that."
"and what if the whoever killed the body is still out here?" scott questioned, pointing out an aspect that stiles hadn't even thought about.
"also something i didn't think about." stiles said nonchalantly as he did his best to catch his breath.
"hey, worst comes to worst we don't have to go to school tomorrow." dylan countered with a shrug, tightening stiles' jacket around her body.
"yeah because we'll be dead!" scott sassed back but dylan continued her point.
"whatever it takes to skip school." she replied.
dylan would rather die than go back to school tomorrow. she was never much of a school fan, if you could even call anyone a fan of school. though while most teenagers hated it, dylan hated it ten times more. it wasn't like she was dumb or had bad grades she just simply felt like there were better things to be doing. she always was an extreme introvert and her social better tended to drain half way through first hour.
the trio soon approached a large leaf covered hill that had to be climbed. stiles went first, climbing up the hill with only a little bit of struggle. once he was at the top he turned and got on his knees, reaching his arm out for dylan to take. she smiled a tight lipped smile that shined with appreciation as she linked her hand with his. stiles pulled her up gently and slowly, dreading the moment her head left his grip.
"it's comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail." scott remarked leaning against a tree and taking a deep breath.
once dylan was at the top, she thanked stiles and turned around. she got into the position stiles had been in and reached down to help scott. she had noticed a few minutes ago that he was having a hard time breathing due to his asthma and the amount of walking the group had done. he smiled while gratefully took her hand, slightly wheezing, and let her help him up.
"i know." stiles eyebrows raised and a goofy smile graced his face.
"hey maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight." scott wheezed, taking out his inhaler and shaking it before taking a puff.
suddenly the shine of their flashlight wasn't the only source light in the woods. the group turned around and saw a large group of police officers with industrial flashlights. the sound of barking dogs echoed through he woods and bounced off the trees.
the three quickly ran forward and dropped to the ground all at once. dylan was suddenly sandwiched between the two teenage blues and she was quite grateful considering she was freezing and they produced body heat. though the only thing hiding their figures from the officers was a stick that was protruding up from the ground.
"this isn't exactly the most camouflaged hiding spot." dylan pointed out in a whisper but was ignored as the boys stared up at the seeking officers.
they all stared at the officers as they thoroughly searched the grounds for the other half of the body. they held dogs on leashes that sniffed the ground in curiosity. stiles quickly turned off his flashlight and hopped up off the ground causing his two best friends to look up at him in confusion.
"come on!" he yelled and dashed off away from the two and towards the lights.
"wait up! stiles!" scott shouted after him, quickly taking another puff of his inhaler.
scott and dylan hopped up as quickly as they could and ran after their idiotic friend. stiles was quite tall meaning his legs were long and he could run very fast. scott and dylan slightly lacked in that department considering scott was an asthmatic and dylan was five foot tall. the two did their best to keep up with stiles but it felt impossible.
"stiles you know i'm incapable of running past p.e. hours!" dylan yelled, extremely out of breath as she ran as fast as she could after him.
"your incapable of running at any time!" scott felt the need to retort as they ran causing dylan to flip him off.
"shut up, scott!" she hissed as they continued to sprint.
"stiles!" dylan yelled hopelessly one last time which finally got stiles' attention.
he began to slow down and looked back at his friends as he still lightly jogged. though the sound of a vicious dog barking startled him and suddenly his body dropped to the ground in fear. scott quickly hid behind a tree, grabbing dylan and pulling her to hide with him.
"hold it right there!" a loud voice demanded but was quickly interrupted.
"hang on, hang on!" a familiar voice called out and approached, "this little delinquent belongs to me."
dylan and scott looked at each other in relief when they realized that the voice belonged to sherif stilinski, stiles' father. dylan has always loved mr. stilinski ever since she was a kid. she grew up with only her father and she loved him deeply but mr. stilinski felt like a second father to her. he had always made her laugh and feel welcome in his house.
mr. stilinski also always had a soft spot for dylan. he had never had the opportunity to have a daughter and due to his wife's sudden passing, a female presence seemed to lack in the stilinski house hold. that was until dylan came along and seemed to become apart of the family. she helped cook, clean, and always kept the spirts high in his home. she also had a way of keeping his son happy, which he appreciated immensely, especially after stiles' mother died. dylan was very special to the stilinski's.
dylan tried her best to calm her ragged breath, attempting to hide her presence. she could hear stiles hop up from the ground and shake the leaves off of himself.
"dad, how are you doing?" stiles said cooly, trying to act nonchalant.
"so, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?" mr. stilinski asked, already knowing the reasoning behind his sons sudden appearance.
"no." stiles lied but soon caved, " well not the boring ones."
mr. stilinski shook his head in disappointment and began looking around the dark area "now, where's your usual partners in crime?"
"who, scott and dylan? they're at home. scott needed a good nights sleep for the first day back at school tomorrow. it's just me. in the woods. alone." stiles awkwardly attempted to cover for his best friends, wanting to help them avoid trouble.
scott and dylan glanced at each other once again, thankful for stiles' attempt of keeping them from his fathers wrath.
"mhm and what about dylan?" mr. stilinski further questioned skeptically.
"she, um-" stiles scratched his head, quickly trying to come up with a lie.
though as stiles stuttered, dylan felt something crawl up her leg. at first she thought it was the chill from the air but when she looked down she saw quite possibly the biggest spider to ever exist sitting on her shin. she shared a look with scott for a quick second in which his eyes pleaded for her to be silent but she couldn't help it. the spider began to crawl and she let out the louder shriek ever.
she fumbled around, her body now being revealed to stiles and his father. she flung her leg around while screaming causing stiles to sigh and let his head hang low.
"AH! WHAT THE FUCK? GET OFF ME! OH MY GOD!" dylan screamed and finally flung the spider off her bare leg, letting out a relieved sigh.
"and there she is." mr. stilinski stated, putting his hands on his hips and trying to hide his laughter at her fear.
dylan soon came to realize what she had done. that damn spider totally blew her cover. dylan looked up to see stiles and his dad staring at her and she sighed.
"hey mr. stilinski." she waved with a small defeated and guilty smile.
"scott, you out there too?" mr. stilinski shined his flashlight around the woods causing scott to duck further behind the tree.
while dylan's cover had been blown, totally due to the spider not her fault at all, that didn't mean scott's was. dylan quickly lied to hide scott's presence.
"nope. just me." dylan peered over at scott and he sent her a thankful smile and she threw him a minuscule nod.
"come on up sweetie." mr. stilinski waved the teenage girl over as he took in her appearance, "you're in shorts. you must be freezing."
dylan approached and came to stand next to stiles who sent her a defeated smile, "you'd be surprised, the amount of detective work we're doing is actually quite warming for the body."
mr. stilinski raised an eyebrow and asked, "and you two are doing this so called detective work why?"
"y'know just..." dylan shrugged awkwardly, "trying to lighten your work load."
"as much as i appreciate that, the woods isn't necessarily the safest spot for two teenagers in the middle of the night." stiles' father scolded the two teenagers.
"yeah that's what the other half of the body said too." dylan blurted without thinking causing stiles to laugh and try to muffle the sound with his hand.
"you two are going to give me a heart attack one day." mr. stilinski complained, looking up at the sky in despair.
"hey that's what i said about stiles like an hour ago!" dylan laughed at the irony and mr. stilinski chuckled lightly.
the sound of distant thunder and the blanket of sprinkling rain was an indicator that this conversation was to be moved elsewhere. it was cold enough with just the wind but add in rain and it was soon becoming frigid.
"well, kids, i'm gonna walk you guys back to the car and you and i," mr. stilinski emphasized while grabbing his sons shoulder and pulling him to walk, "are going to have a conversation about something called invasion of privacy."
the group of three began walking away, stepping carefully on wet leaves. many cops stared at the group, some with disapproval and some with expectance. it wasn't abnormal for dylan and stiles to be meddling in police business. in fact it was oddly normal and most of the officers knew them by name.
dylan quickly looked over her shoulder to the tree where she and scott where previously hiding. she scanned the area but didn't see scott anywhere and scrunched her eyebrows.
mr. stilinski continued to lecture stiles as the three made it back to the blue jeep. he added a small warning to dylan as well before sending her off into the car for one last word with his son. dylan hopped into the passenger side of the jeep and sent stiles a tight lipped smile, knowing he was going to be further lectured.
dylan sank back into the passenger seat, burying herself into stiles coat and putting her feet on the dashboard. she leant her head back onto the head rest and yawned, feeling exhaustion spread through her body. she already dreaded the first day of school but this lack of sleep was going to make it worse.
dylan giggled lightly when she noticed stiles and his dad talking. she could see the sarcastic smirk on stiles face and the fed up look on his fathers. it wasn't a conversation with stiles if someone wasn't irritated at his sarcasm.
she sighed and looked away, resting her head to the side to see out the passenger window. she smiled at the beautiful tall trees that surrounded the car. some would find the darkness that surrounded the woods scary but for some reason dylan had found it comforting.
dylan and her father had always taken hikes together, despite her hatred for physical activity, the walks with her father were always peaceful. they would laugh and joke the entire time, bonding more and more. it was always just dylan and her father so they had always been close. dylan never had any memories of her mother considering she died in child birth, so her relationship with her father was stronger than most.
dylan smiled at the memories that she has with her father. her trip down memory lane was suddenly interrupted by an odd light coming from the darkness. dylan leaned closer to the window slowly and she squinted her eyes to see better. two bright red lights shined, they looked slightly like eyes. confusion flooded dylan's mind and she slowly grabbed the window crank to roll the window down. she stuck her head out the window and a creepy figure suddenly become visible.
dylan gasped loudly at a sudden sound from beside her. stiles hopped in the car, being his normal rowdy self, and gave dylan a weird look at her sudden outburst.
"you good?" he asked but dylan just whipped her head around and looked out the window again. this time the figure was gone and she was only met with darkness.
"i, um," she stuttered and slowly looked away from the woods, "yeah. i'm fine."
dylan shook her head slightly, trying to erase the image she saw. it could've been in her mind considering it was late and she was lacking in the sleep department. she shivered lightly due to the cold air causing stiles to notice and immediately reach for the heat dial and turn it up. dylan sent him a grateful smile on which he returned and put the car in drive.
"hey, should we look for scott? it's pretty cold and if he freezes to death he will most certainly haunt us." dylan asked as she settled deep into her seat and basked in the heat.
"yeah probably. i don't want him to see me shitting as a ghost." stiles sighed and put the car in drive as dylan let out a loud laugh.
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆
STILES AND DYLAN FINALLY PULLED UP to the finstock residence after about an hour of searching for scott. the two had decided that scott probably walked home and also prayed that he wouldn't be too mad at them.
the two talked for a second before a car in the driveway caught dylan's eye. her eyes suddenly widened and she quickly unbuckled herself and began grabbing her things.
"are you having an aneurism?" stiles asked as he observed the girls hurried moves in confusion.
"my dad is home! you have to go before he comes out here and rips your buzzcut off." dylan warned, flicking her hair out of her face as she looked up from the floor with her things in her arms.
"i have to make sure you get to the door!" stiles argued as dylan hopped out of the jeep in a hurry. stiles has always either watched dylan walk to her door or walked her to the door to make sure she got in safe.
"it's a ten foot walk! go now before i no longer have a personal school bus!" dylan slammed the keep door and watched as stiles hesitantly zoomed away quickly. he had always been slightly terrified of her father even though stiles knew that he had loved him like a son.
dylan jogged up to her front porch steps, looking around in cation simply because she's a girl. once she reached the stairs she slowly went up them, trying to limit any creaking that could come from the wooden steps. dylan made it up the stairs and across the porch without too much sound and finally made it to the door.
she slowly turned the door knob and pushed forward only for the door to halt her movements. dylan's mouth dropped open when she realized that her father had locked the door. he didn't have a clue that she wasn't even home. bad dad of the year award goes to bobby finstock.
"i don't know if i'm grateful or disappointed in his bad parenting." dylan huffed to herself and turned on her heels.
dylan pulled stiles' jacket, that she forgot to give to him before he left, around herself and hurried down the porch steps in her slippers. she walked around the front of her house and to the tall wooden gate that disconnected the back yard from the front. as she fiddled with the lock she suddenly heard a loud rustling from behind her.
she quickly stopped her fiddling and looked over her shoulder. the atmosphere was incredibly dark, the only light being a porch light from next door. dylan held her breath and waited to see if she heard the noise again. the area was silent for a second before the sound went flying through the air once more.
suddenly a huge swarm of birds came flapping from across the street. the loud squawking caused dylan to gasp and grab her chest. her eyebrows furrowed as she watched the birds fly away in a hurry, it wasn't even close to hibernating season.
dylan soon noticed that the bushes from across the street were rattling. at first she assumed it could be a raccoon or a squirrel but as her eyes adjusted to the light she saw two red beams just like she had seen in the woods. suddenly a large shadow arose from behind the bushes. dylan's head rose high as she watched the red beams grow taller into the sky. the figure was huge and buff, accompanied by white fangs.
dylan's heart banged against her chest repeatedly and her breathing became erratic. suddenly the figure let out an extremely loud and low grumble that practically shook the trees. the figure sprinted into action immediately and came lunging towards dylan. she let out a scream and turned back around to the fence. she struggled with the lock, yanking at it and trying her best to get it unlocked.
dylan continuously looked over her shoulder to see the figure getting closer and closer before the lock suddenly worked and she pushed the fence door open. she quickly turned around, seeing the animal running towards her so incredibly fast, and slammed the fence door shut. the latched the large wooden fence door shut and quickly backed up away from the door.
it was silent for a moment before the door busted open, wood pieces flying everywhere. dylan tripped and fell backwards when she tried to run and she was suddenly on the cold hard ground. she looked up and watched as the animal lunged at her. the force of the animal shoved her face into the dirt and she soon felt a searing pain in her side. she screamed as loud as she could but her mouth was muffled by the dirt.
dylan had tears streaming down her face as she cried out from the terror and pain. dylan felt scratching at her ankles and her whole body was being thrown around. suddenly all the feelings stopped and dylan pulled her head off the ground and she looked up but was met with absolutely nothing. the animal was gone and the only thing she could feel was blood dripping down her side.
dylan looked down to see a huge bite mark that ripped through stiles' jacket and was now flowing with dark blood. dylan let out sounds of immense pain and cries of fear while looking around for the creature but it was nowhere to be found. dylan breathed heavily as she was left alone but suddenly gasped when a loud howl erupted through the sky.
dylan was terrified but little did she know the terror wasn't going to stop there. this was just the beginning and everything was going to change.
