━━━━ AVERY LI knew life was unusually cruel from a young age. It made her admire and respect first responders, nurses, surgeons, anyone who faced that head on, really. She remembered when she was eight and sitting in a hospital room, a nurse would come in and bring her little toys or gifts. Avery knew that it was to cheer her up and it warmed her heart. She knew from that moment she wanted to be a nurse.

        Avery took the tragedy from her life and preserved. She applied her pain and anger into her studies. She was gonna make her family proud and become the nurse they wanted her to be. It was fairly easy for her as she had been a child prodigy with a photographic memory but that just pushed her harder.

        She graduated high school and seventeen, getting a full ride to Yale university, majoring in science in nursing. She graduated with her bachelor's degree, passed her NCLEX-RN, and got a job at a mayo clinic in Florida. Avery worked there for four years, creating such strong bonds, getting a support system when she decided to train to become a scrub nurse. It was hard for her to say goodbye,

Avery never expected to get a call from Richard Webber ( no really she just about shit her pants ) and she definitely didn't expect a job offer. She was only twenty-five and going to be working at one of the best hospitals in the us, that was insane to her. The experience humbled her.

Another thing she didn't expect, working alongside Derek Shepherd, one of the best brain surgeons to exist. Let alone become his favorite scrub nurse, she truly had no idea why. One thing she knew for sure was she wasn't going to buy into his charms, not like everyone else. Because she knew he would break her heart like he broke Meredith Grey's.

Yet maybe McDreamy could break down his best friend's walls. And maybe, they could both learn how to love. Because lord knew he needed to learn.
