Dear Diary, An apology is a must

Author's note: Double update cause I cannot leave my girl hurting and my man not making up for his actions so here we go!

07/03/22

Dear Diary,

I met a model at the airport, she was nice, good looking,

But not someone I like or I'd want to settle with.

I merely acknowledge the fact that she was attractive, but not more attractive than someone else.

She pestered me for a date everyday, every minute of every hour and refused to take no as an answer so I finally gave in.

She got uncomfortably close and it really triggered me but I had to keep mum, because she didn't understand, and she wouldn't have even if I told her.

She didn't seem to understand men get uncomfortable because of a touch too.

She didn't seem to understand we know what an uncomfortable touch is.

I've never gotten intimate with a woman the way she tried getting with me.

Strangely and surprisingly, Sara was in the same café and she seemed...uncomfortable?

I'm unaware of what exactly happened to her but I seem to have hurt her sentiments, and an apology is a must.

I ought to apologise.

" But why don't you want to take down the rumours?" Shubman took a step back, Sara seemed too agitated.

" Your girlfriend will be uncomfortable at the thought of-"

" For God's sake Sara, that woman is not my girlfriend! I told her by the end of the date that I've no such intentions of dating her. I agreed to go on a date with her simply because she was hellbent on taking me out, she refused to take a no as an answer. I had no choice!"

" You two looked pretty happy-"

" I faked it! She made me uncomfortable Sara. She got extremely close, I felt harassed. And had I told her, she wouldn't have understood. Because men don't feel harrased. Men don't get uncomfortable, men are made of stones, it's not easy breaking them down."

" That's bullshit. You do have feelings, you can also feel uncomfortable, you can also feel uneasy. It's nuisance. Why didn't you...call me then? I'd have spoken to her."

" Would you have?"

" Would I not? Shubman you're human too! And as a woman herself who works in such an industry where people can easily harras her, she should understand it the best of how any other person can feel. Woman or not. You should've pushed her away. It wouldn't make you look rude or arrogant. It would actually be understandable and if no one else did, I would support you. Jugnu would support you, Seb would support you, Ishan would support you. All your friends, your sister, your family would support you."

" Thank you." He murmured.
" So you wanted to take down the rumours, because you assumed me to be dating that woman?"

Sara hesitantly nodded and he appeared disgusted.

" Chi! Chii! Isse accha single marna hai maine. Shakal ke alava hai bhi kya uske paas? Usse toh yeh bhi nahi maalum ki four, ball boundary tak pohonchne mein hota hai aur six boundary ke bahar jaane par. Arey woh mera naam bhi acche se nahi le paa rahi thi. First date pe hi seedha baby baby! Mai pagal hu jo usse ghar le jau? Jutti fek ke maarni hai Mumma ne mere muh pe usko dekhte hi."

" Kuch bhi! Aunty badi pyaari hai!"

" Unhe Indian bahu chahiye. Matlab haa, maan bhi jaayengi par I myself want an Indian partner, I don't want someone who doesn't know the importance of our culture and refuses to value it. She was rather racist too."

" She seems to have made you hate foreigners."

" Not all of them! But her? Definitely!"

" So you rejected her?"

" I did."

" How?"

Shubman stepped back even more, far enough to stay out of Sara's reach as he smiled sheepishly.

" I...uh...told her you're my ex girlfriend and thats why I kept refusing her."

Sara froze as she halted chopping the vegetables and slowly looked up at him.

" You told her what?" She asked, her voice dangerously calm and he gulped.

" And she agreed immediately?"

" No she tried creating a scene but luckily Aditi was there present and she shut her up after I told her whatever that happened. I explained it to her how she needed to take no as an answer when people rejected her. I bet she must be a single child."

" MAI THAPPAD MAARUNGI TUMHE! AB RUMOURS AUR BADHENGE! GADHE!"

He winced, folding his hands.

" Galti ho gayi, maaf kardo mujhe."

" I'll kill you!" She said chasing him around with the knife in hand.

" Murder isn't a good thing!" He said, his voice raising in alarm.

" I don't care!"

" No no no no no! I'm sorry! I made a mistake!"

" Get your ass back here!"

" I said I'm sorry!" He immediately pulled the knife away from her, causing her to get pulled along too, and she toppled over him as they fell on the couch.

The knife fell off his hand and landed on his with a clink.

Ignoring the noise, his arm snaked around her waist, her nose touching his, far too close to each other, their chests heaving due to the lack of breath.

His gaze flickered down to her lips as he licked his own, feeling them go dry.

" I'm sorry." He murmured.

" For?"

" For using your name as my ex-girlfriend, for hurting you, for making you confused, for probably giving you mixed signals, it was wrong of me. I'm genuinely sorry."

Her eyes narrowed.

" Who did you talk to?"

" What do you mean?"

" Who did you talk to before apologising?"

" Nobody?"

" Then what makes you apologise out of the blue?"

He sighed.
" Jugnu's taunts. I realised I did you wrong. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you."

" In what way did you hurt me Shubman?" She arched a brow.

He looked at her blankly.
" I—I gave you mixed hints. I hurt your sentiments. I went out with someone else, having rumours with you. I also suggested fake dating. It all must've angered and hurt you."

" It's kind of hard to digest. You apologising."

" Don't get used to it!"

" I don't intend do, don't worry."

" But why would apologise for going out with someone? I'm not your girlfriend."

His eyes widened, rendered speechless at not being able to find a right reason.

" I need to cook. You can give me the answer when you remember a reason one or come up with up. Talk to you later." She shrugged with the hint of a smile as she got off him, took the knife and walked away, as if they weren't just as close to lead to a makeout with extreme tension.
