Final Level (part 1)

《Wake up Y/n, do you really want to sleep until late?!》

Someone was knocking loudly on the door; still with your eyes closed, you jumped out of bed.

《Oh, it's you.》  You yawned loudly when you saw your brother at the door. As always, he woke up earlier than you, especially on weekends and you hated him when he did that.

You found the clock hanging on the wall of your bedroom without any difficulty. It was seven in the morning, but the sun was already up and its rays crossed the green leaves in front of your window.

《So, what do you have to shout at this hour of the day...》  You rubbed your right eye and still wearing your pajamas.

The young boy, your spitting copy but completely different from you, snorted in your face.

《Mpf, you're always the same, even on your birthday.》  He said rolling his eyes  《Mom and dad have already gone down and breakfast is ready.》

When he said that, you closed the door and leaned against it. How could you have forgotten your own birthday??

You headed to the closet and grabbed the first things you saw, which was a colorful T-shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans, and then you went to the bathroom to fix your hair and makeup.

When you went down the stairs, you found your mother in the kitchen and your father sitting at the table drinking a cup of coffee...you looked at them for a long, as if you haven't done so for time.

《Good morning dear.》  The woman said but you didn't answered her  《I also made your favorite pancakes, what do you have now?》

Your father also looked in your direction. He looked a lot like you, but he was much more diligent than you.

《Leave her alone, today she seems to have come out from another world.》  Your brother passed you and went to his usual seat; then, he looked at his cell phone screen.

《How many times have we told you to save us with this at the table?》  Your father grabbed his son's phone to put it on the table.  《And don't be rude to your sister. Today is a special day for her.》

The youthful looking man greeted you with a smile as you approached them. Luckily, he was always there to defend you from your brother.

《Heh, goodmorning everyone.》  After sitting, you looked longingly at your mother's plate  《Oh my so gorgeous as always...thank you mom, you're the best!》

The flavor of those pancakes with maple syrup on top was absolutely delicious and so you enjoyed your breakfast.

《...I was thinking of going on a trip to Philadelphia, what do you say Y/n?》  Your father spoke to you and waited for you to decide.

《Aren't you two busy with work? There's no need to go there just for that...》  You remembered your father wasn't always available because of the work he had to do in the clinic, while your mother was always busy in her office.

《And why not? We are in the summer, mommy and daddy also need a break sometimes!》  He sighed ironically.

《You are right, and we never waste our time with you two.》  Your mother added; it was a long time since you had seen that city and the idea of going there made you very happy.

《But I lose mine when I have to go and wake her up every morning...》  Your brother added with a grimace breaking that perfect moment.

Anyway, your mother thought about to scold him.

《Cut it out, Michael!》

You blinked suddenly; you knew exactly it wasn't your brother's name so you thought you heard wrong...
You thought that came from one of your strange dreams, as you took another bite of that deliciously sweet dish.

《...》

《Aaah, fuck it.》  You ignored the warning.

Once you finished, you went back to your room to pack your suitcase. It had been a while since you took such a long journey and you were tremendously happy.

You chose the most beautiful and comfortable things you had in your closet, until you found yourself holding a white shirt; it was simple but elegant and when you started folding it you noticed a button was missing...and it was ripped right at the belly.
It was weird, you didn't remember wearing it recently or leaving it in the closet in that state.

The cut was long and narrow, as if a blade had done it; anyway, you decided to put it aside for the time being.

Once you closed the bag you went to the window to fix the curtains, until your eye fell on something in the middle of the street.

《Are you done?》  Your brother appeared behind you.

You turned around with the intention of scolding him for coming in without permission, but then you remembered you hadn't closed the door.

《Hey, can you see it? There's something in front of the garden.》  You said suddenly; he took a step towards the window looking in the direction you were pointing.

《Mmm, where? I don't see anything there.》

When you looked again, you saw it was gone.

《...nothing. I thought I saw a shadow.》  You finally concluded.

The boy raised an eyebrow before leaving and warned you that your parents were waiting at the main entrance.

《Are you ready guys?!》  Your mother raised her voice to call both of you. This time, the first to show up was you.

《Yeah, I'm really excited to go.》  You showed a sincere smile.

When you were all there, you all headed for the car parked in front of the garage.
Everything seemed to be going well, too well that you hardly remembered what had happened in the previous days...suddenly, strange memories resurfaced in your head, faces and names that you had never seen or heard before, but you thought it was just an impression.

But when you looked out the window, something amazing was happening...a very familiar fog enveloped the car.

《Dad! Stop the car!》  You yelled to the driver's side making everyone present jump.

《W-what is it? Did you forget something at home?》  Your parents looked at you dazedly as your brother tried to hold back a laugh.

《Don't you see all this fog?? It practically surrounded us!》  You said pointing out the strange situation you were in. Although it was right in front of their eyes, they didn't seem very impressed, as if they weren't seeing it...in fact, it was so.

What's wrong with you, Y/n...you've been weird since this morning.》  Your father said disconsolately.

But you were sure it was real...so, you were the only one who could see it??
At that moment, you heard a deep breath behind you; so, your brother got too close to you that you could feel his breath next to your ear...but when you turned around, you didn't see the young boy.

Now, there was another person in his place and you couldn't take your eyes off that fake white face...he was so tall and big that he could hardly fit into the car.

You took a step back as far as you could.
《W-who the hell are you?!》

You called your parents in vain, as they had completely vanished from the car.

《What's going on?! And who is this??》  You said to yourself with your heart beating fast; the strange guy was wearing a mechanic's overalls, but most disturbing was the large kitchen knife he carried in his right hand.

However, he didn't point it at you and was staring intently at you. You tried to open the car door but it was closed.
You couldn't understand what was happening but strangely it seemed you had already lived such experience...and the name you had accidentally heard from your mother began to drum in your mind. What if he was this "Michael"??

Since you saw him approaching, you put a hand towards him to keep him at a distance from you, but you jumped when he grabbed it.

《S-stay away from me!》  You tried to make noise against the glass in the hope that someone would hear you.  《Somebody help me!!》

That psycho could have hurt you at any time and the fear increased as he grabbed you; he put his arm around your waist and you tried to free yourself by hitting him in the face.
Although he was wearing a mask, you sensed that it would only make things worse.

《W-what do you want from me and where is my family?? What have you done to them?!》  You started sobbing in terror; meanwhile, the city around you disappeared, as if you were out of this world and, unfortunately, you weren't alone.

You couldn't escape, you were without a way out. And he would never let you, not again.

He remained silent, as if he didn't understand your words.
At that point, he let go of the knife and placed his palm on your belly, under your shocked eyes.

Mine.》  He said all of a sudden.

He had no intention of harming you, but you didn't understand what that meant.

《W-what...》  You asked; however, he didn't let you go.

There was something familiar about him, as if you had met him before, as if you had already felt the warmth that came from his touch.

《Who are you...?》  You asked him but he didn't speak, as if you should have already known the answer.

You thought about that name again.

《Michael?》

There was a deathly silence and you feared you had made a mistake, until the masked man pulled you towards him and hugged you tightly, leaving you petrified.

Y/n.

He guessed your name too at first try. It couldn't be a coincidence.

《H-how do you know me?》  You were having a hard time talking with your cheek wedged between your shoulder and his big chest.

Because you are mine.

Those broken words weren't easy to translate, but it was obvious that he was trying to tell you something.
You looked up and saw he was slowly taking off his mask.

Just then you remembered. Under the mask, there was a face that you dreamed almost every night, as in a dream and in a nightmare at the same time.

You had forgotten everything about the Entity's world including other survivors; some faces came back to your mind, but it was as if they had become strangers. But not him. Not the infamous killer Michael Myers.

When he said you were his, something in you clicked. The feelings you felt for him resurfaced in your mind, and in your heart, as well as that moment of passion you had felt together.
You touched his young face with all your fingers. It wasn't a dream, he was really there with you, despite the fog surrounded you.

However, you couldn't ignore your family had suddenly disappeared, in place of Michael, and tears rolled down your face at the thought you would never see them again, especially after you were able to see them again after a long time.

Michael didn't break the hug and stood with his head tilted to hear your sweet cry.

He knew the fruit of his seed was growing inside of you and knew the Entity would never allow such a thing in his crazy game...for that reason, the Entity made you awaken again in the real world, without any change in your daily life.
Of course, it wasn't the same for Michael...he was the killer known as the Shape and he couldn't go back. He served the purpose of the Entity and would belong to its realm forever...or at least that was the case before the pact changed.

On that summer day, a supernatural fog enveloped your hometown...it was the entrance ticket to a merciless killer like him, who would have caused death in the real world. Nothing mattered to him but you, and if you refused him, he would chase you until you surrendered to him.

This time, you tried to free yourself from him, but Michael didn't seem to want to let you go.

《I-I need to find my parents and my younger brother, I can't stay here any longer–》  But when you said that, the unmasked guy tightened his grip around your arms and you worried when you saw his expression darken.

I'm here now. And no one else.

He didn't seem to want to understand your situation. Even though he came back for you, you couldn't forget your family, who were the only truly important people in your life.
Of course, you didn't want to put him aside, because he was important to you too.

Choose. Me or them.

Again, his words froze you. You wished you could have heard his voice as he showed his feelings for you, but instead he kept getting you in trouble.
You couldn't make a choice, but you knew what the right thing to do was.

《I want to stay close to you Michael, but I can't forget my family, they disappeared before my eyes!》  You said in a desperate tone placing both hands on his chest...maybe, you were wrong, but you didn't feel any heartbeat.

Then, Michael let you go. He stayed motionless in the utter emptiness of his thoughts, as if the only light had ever turned on inside of him had suddenly gone out...how could a good girl like you love a monster like him? After all, he would never have been able to change who he was, but it was enough for him that you were at his side. That you were his forever.

He grabbed the white mask and put it on again, as if it were the only thing he could really count on and clenched the knife in a deadly fist.

You followed the movement of the blade, getting closer and closer to you, but he did nothing.

everyone.

He just said letting his heavy breathing and became one with his true and unique identity. The Shape.

Suddenly, a dark fog came in the car reaching the rear seats where you were sitting and completely enveloped his figure.

《Wait! Michael!!!》

You screamed and stretched out your arms, immersed in the fog, but you couldn't find him. He had definitely disappeared.

Y/n's POV:

I was shaking like a leaf. Now, I was sure Michael had completely lost his mind and that was my fault. He was alone, he didn't have a family like I had, but I could never have chosen between one and the other!

I put my hands in my hair and hit the seat in front of me hard...what was the point of getting out of a cursed place like the one I had been in until that moment, if it still kept following me even after I left?? This was all absurd and worst of all, I didn't know where my family had gone.

I fell into a gloomy silence. I couldn't stop thinking about the last thing Michael had said earlier...what would happen next?

《Crap Y/n, what the hell is wrong with you?!》  Suddenly, a familiar voice made me lift my head in the direction of the seat next to me.

《...》

I called him by his real name. My brother was really there and I couldn't believe it; moreover, his pissed expression confirmed that to me.

But he wasn't the only one. Soon after, I heard my mother's voice and saw my father's very worried face.

《Don't worry Y/n, it must have been a bad dream. You had dozed off for a few minutes.》  She said in a calm tone, as if it wasn't really necessary to blame you for your sudden behavior.

A few minutes? They seemed much more, I thought, and slowly I tried to come back to myself.

《Anyway, the weather has started to get worse, it will start to rain badly soon...I think it's better go home for now.》

Dad said all of a sudden, as if he wanted to let go of that awkward moment; in fact, when I looked out the window I saw the fog was gone, but in its place there was a greyish sky...a violent storm would soon begin and there was no possibility of going on a long journey in those conditions.

Neither of us said more, as there was no other choice to make.

《But that's very strange, until now there wasn't even a cloud!》  My brother protested rightly, as if things weren't going in the right way. I was thinking that too.

《I know, but there's nothing we can do about it.》  Our father sighed, clearly confused.

It took us a few seconds to get back into the house and before the rain fell. We had never seen a bad weather like that and for this reason it seemed stranger than usual.

But above all, what did Michael mean by "everyone"? I kept thinking about it as I peered from behind the curtain on the living room window.

Until I saw him.

He was right there, in the rain and stared at our house.
He hadn't disappeared as I had thought; he was back for me, but now what did he want to do with that weapon held as if he wanted to kill someone?

《Honey, what would you like to have for dinner? I've planned a delicious baked pasta.》 My mother woke me up from that terrifying thought...why didn't I think about it before?

Michael Myers was back and he would have killed everyone. My heart was beating as if it wanted to get out of my chest.

I turned to look at my beloved family.

At that moment, I didn't care how I felt about him, if he was going to hurt them I would have absolutely stopped him, with all my strength.

If there was no escape, I might as well face the evil that would soon knock on my door.

- - -

Let me help you with this, mom.》

Suddenly, you took her place in the kitchen and started chopping the meat on top of the cutting board using a large kitchen knife. Although you were doing it right, your mother looked at you with a puzzled expression; your movements were too fast and this worried her a lot.

Feeling that flesh under your hands as you held the handle...was this what Michael felt when he killed someone? Of course not, you were just making dinner, but now you knew you wouldn't have a problem holding a knife that size.

After you finished that, your mother took the cutting board to throw the meat into the pot with boiling water.
It was evening now and the thunder began to be heard; soon, your brother and father got tired of that annoying noise, because they had to turn up the volume of the television to hear the voices of the movie they were watching...for your part, all that confusion made you nervous.

What if Michael tried to sneak into the house? You had no choice, you had to take a look around; in addition to the front door, there was the garden door, the garage and all the windows, including those on the first floor.

But your mother took your knife away from you, since you no longer needed it. While everyone was distracted doing their own thing, you wandered off for a moment to check all the rooms in the house; you turned on all the lights, to make sure no place remained in the dark...you went up to check the first floor and did the same thing, but you decided to leave your bedroom for last. If Michael had been there, at least you would have fought him without anyone getting involved.

Of course, your life was in danger too. You were no longer in the realm of the Entity where you were denied death all that time, but now that you were back in the real world you had to face this...anyway, you weren't the only one, Michael wasn't immortal and, if it was necessary, you could have hit him dead.

But there was no one in your bedroom and everything was in their place, as if there was no one.

Then, you jumped when you heard a scream from downstairs. It was your mother's voice.
Without thinking twice, you ran to reach it almost risking to fall in doing so.

《Mom! What is it–》  But you stopped when you saw her get the fingers wet in the cold water of the washbasin.

《Sorry, I just got burned, but nothing serious.》  Your mother smiled knowing that she had exaggerated. You sighed deeply.

What if it was all a mistake? Maybe, Michael wasn't going to hurt anyone and you were just tired of everything that was going on.
There, a sudden pain in the belly got you distracted from those thoughts. You ran into the bathroom and threw your face in front of the toilet...certainly, it wasn't the breakfast or the lunch from a few hours ago, there was something else was hurting you...

You forgot an important thing and thought it was disappeared with the return home. You had discovered you got pregnant and never had a chance to tell Michael about that.
You collapsed on the bathroom rug; your parents didn't know any of this, but unfortunately it wasn't the time to think about it...either way, you were hoping you had enough energy to protect your family from him.

Anyway, the evening proceeded as if nothing had happened and all of you were at the table enjoying the dish your mother had prepared. Until your father got up.

《Y/n, we have something to give you.》  He went back to the dining room with a wrapped package in his hand.  《This is from your mother and me. I hope you like it.》

You looked at them with a smile, forcing yourself to live your life normally without thinking about anything else; once discarded, you found a smaller box and inside was a fountain white pen.

《Thank you, it's really wonderful.》  Unlike him, your father loved your accurate and elegant writing.

《It will look perfect on the pocket of your future white coat, my dear.》  Your mother added by giving you a kiss on the forehead.

You were happy to hear those words, but the truth was you wanted to cry. Things weren't the same anymore and none of them knew it, but if nothing had happened that night, you would certainly have made things right.

Then, your parents looked at your brother who was watching uncomfortably.

《What's up? I only suggested the color of the pen.》  He said pretending not to know anything, but you got up to hug him.

《You are the best little brother in the world, even if you don't want to admit it.》  He looked down when you said that. He always did this when he was embarrassed.

In the meantime, somewhere where you couldn't see, Michael Myers stared at you as you smiled along with your family. The more he looked at them the more he wanted to see their blood shed on the floor, together with your horrified and helpless expression.

...that stormy night, it would be your last trial.
