The days passed like nothing in Tottoland.
Most of the Charlotte pirates were in charge of checking their perimeter and making sure there were no hitches of any kind, while others disappeared for several days for some secret mission.
Speaking of which, you were getting into the habit of administering Komugi; when Katakuri happened to go away for a while, you had to grab the reins of the island and, if necessary, make important decisions.
Contrary to what you expected at the beginning, your word was almost as good as Katakuri's, but that didn't interest you.
Unlike other family members, your presence wasn't at all threatening in the people's eyes, as they were aware of how merciless Charlottes could be, when things didn't go according to plan.
One day, Katakuri gave you a demonstration.
Someone had dared to eat a piece of his own home, made of marzipan and cream and, according to the rules, they had to be punished severely.
When you found out, Katakuri wasn't around and you decided to turn a blind eye, as the "crime" had been committed by a five-year-old child.
But unfortunately, your husband learned of it from his subordinates and the people, witnesses of the incident, confirmed the guilt of the child and decided to take drastic measures for the poor family by imprisoning them in the dungeons of your palace.
Of course, you didn't take the matter well and you talked to him about it.
《It was an accident, there was no reason to involve the whole family for a simple kid stunt...》
Katakuri didn't seem mad at you for hiding it from him, but he didn't want you to act behind his back.
《This is one of the fundamental rules of Tottoland and must be respected by all citizens...just because buildings are made with food, it doesn't mean that they have to eat it...》
For your part, you could only agree with him; even in Dressrosa the situation was delicate and, as much as you could, you tried not to make it look too much like that, now that you had the power to do it.
Katakuri's impartiality was indisputable and there was little to be done. When he was alone with you, he could be more relaxed and sometimes sweet, but never let his temper go.
Even though he was already older than you, he didn't forget to remind you who was the headman between you two.
Sure, it was exciting, but scary at the same time; sometimes you wondered if his feelings actually matched yours and he wasn't submitting you.
《Y/n.》 You looked up at your husband noticing that he had been calling you for a while.
《I have an important thing to do elsewhere, in the meantime try not to get into trouble.》
Before he left, he lifted you up to give you a chaste kiss on the cheek.
《I'm just an idiot to doubt him...》 You said to yourself as you watched him go.
- - -
《...and so I was wrong to act on my own like this.》 You were explaining your situation to the others, while observing your reflection in the cup.
《He certainly didn't do it to scold you. You just did what felt right, Y/n.》 Brûlée replied, pouring Amande some tea.
《The important thing is that the transgressors have been punished.》 She added drinking from the freshly filled cup. Her point of view puzzled you.
《Okay rules are rules, but how can you explain that to a child?!》 Pudding barked, disagreeing with the words of her older sister.
As they argued about the guilt or otherwise of the poors, Smoothie intervened bringing a new topic to the discussion.
《There are probably some commitments he couldn't postpone...》
It was obvious that she was referring to Katakuri.
《What do you mean? Do you think Mama asked him to secretly work on something?》 Brûlée spoke in a low voice.
《That's exactly the point...》 Smoothie continued, with the attention of all of you.
《Being a general too, I should know if there's anything to take care of, but she hasn't told us anything about it. I think it's something else.》
Galette began to giggle.
《He may be a disciplined man too, but I don't think it's about work this time.》
《And what else?》 You intervene; the woman's yellow eyes fixed yours, arousing a mixture of curiosity and concern.
《I think it's something to do with you.》 It was her reply. She concluded, before walking away alone.
《It's evident that he still needs time to understand at what point your relationship with him can move forward...or stop it here.》
《I don't want that to happen.》 You said sure. Brûlée looked at you trying to understand what you were thinking; she didn't want things between you and Katakuri to get worse, as they were going well.
Meanwhile, you looked at the bottom of the cup, now empty.
Hearing these things from your sisters-in-law bothered you, as if they were describing a feelingless Katakuri.
《If they think this about him, they are very wrong.》
Despite everything, the day proceeded normally until Smoothie, from her perspective, saw that someone was approaching from afar.
《He's coming.》 She said.
《Who?》 Brûlée asked, sipping tea.
《Nii-san.》 You couldn't believe she was serious and you had to help Brûlée not choke.
A few moments later, you verified it with your own eyes...it was as if he had read your mind and reached you.
You too got up from the lawn on which you were spending your time. His red eyes scanned the group until he found your little figure.
《Come with me Y/n.》 He told you, after approaching with a single step; you thought he wanted to talk to you about something in private, so you abandoned the others.
He was extremely serious, as always, but there was more to it and he seemed to be in a hurry.
《Hey, slow down.》 Katakuri stopped turning behind him noticing you were still catching up. 《...something wrong?》
He lifted you into the air with mochi. It was sticky, but soft, and you enjoyed that light feeling that you didn't notice his response.
《You'll find out soon.》
- - -
Your eyes were closed as you were swung in the air. It was curious that Katakuri was using mochi like that and a smile escaped you.
A few minutes passed in silence, until you asked where you were going.
He didn't answer you, but the salty smell of the sea didn't betray you, since it was the only one not contaminated by the sweet one of the place.
You opened your eyes and you noticed that Katakuri was getting on a giant ship.
《Ehm, Katakuri...where are we going?》
He freed you from the mochi and put your feet on the deck.
At that point, Katakuri looked towards the dock.
《You can untie the knots now.》
The ship began moving as the men below released the ropes around the bollards.
You moved towards the balcony and, by now, you were already detached and ready to leave the port.
You were upset by everything that was happening and you rushed towards him.
《W-wait a moment...what's all this suddenly?!》 Finally, Katakuri gave you some attention.
《I decided it was time to spend some time alone, away from everything and everyone.》 He announced sternly, with his usual arms crossed, while your expression hadn't changed a bit.
But there was something wrong and you wanted to confirm it in person.
《...where is the crew?》
You asked with wide eyes.
《In Tottoland.》 He answered carelessly.
You couldn't believe it was really happening...you and Katakuri were completely alone in the middle of the sea.
He had kept it hidden from you until then, probably to surprise you, albeit shocking.
As always, your emotions always managed to provoke fun in Katakuri.
《Mpf. Don't worry too much about it, Y/n...》
The sound of his boots rang heavily on the wood.
《Consider it as a cruise, which you will spend with your dear husband.》
- - -
Tottoland now seemed like a point on the horizon. The wind was great carrying the sail to a remote destination.
It was past noon and you retired to a cabin to rest for a while.
Lying on a cot, your heart was beating fast. The idea of a vacation didn't sound bad, but being with Katakuri caused you a slight tension, especially after that strange night.
《I can't and don't want to think about this...!》
A few minutes later, you decided to go up and found Katakuri on the bow of the ship.
He looked straight ahead of him; you watched his short hair move, along with his scarf and vest, due to the sea breeze.
It was impossible not to find him fascinating, especially with that skull on his back and with the surname written above it, which, along with his height, frightened anyone who approached.
《Come here.》 He said suddenly without turning around and you did.
You shared that wonderful view made of infinite shades of blue, which hid that imaginary line that separated the sky from the open sea.
《It's beautiful.》 Your words came out from your mouth by themselves. Katakuri said nothing; you were right but, as soon as he turned to look at your sweet profile, he didn't think there was anything more beautiful than you.
《I chose it for you. I'm glad you like it.》 You found the tone in which he said it strangely sweet and gave him the biggest smile.
He chuckled.
《I think I deserve more than that.》
You moved in front of him swinging between his legs.
《Take me then.》
Your e/c eyes looked at him deeply and, for some strange reason, captivated him.
He carried you into the air with his own hands and, as always, treated you with extreme delicacy. You put your hands on his shoulders and leaned forward to kiss him.
Katakuri had foreseen this and had already lowered his scarf, to be able to welcome your small, but warm lips.
Being with him like that made you forget any worries; what mattered was the love you could give him, after all.
For the first time, you decided to stick your tongue inside his sharp mouth. He would never have expected this move from you, but he gladly accepted it and opened his jaws.
Obviously, the struggle for supremacy was won by Katakuri with his long and large tongue. Despite the shortage of air, you didn't want to lose contact with him and put your hands on his face.
You tended to close your eyes and tried to keep them open, to observe his expression as he kissed you. His red eyes looked at you greedily and blushed with embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Katakuri had moved to return to the main dock.
Your lips were still joined; you felt completely wet and exhausted, but you couldn't help it.
You absently moved your tongue towards his fangs and slashed yourself.
Katakuri stopped and looked at the tip of your red tongue, about to bleed.
He grabbed your chin, never losing eye contact with you.
《I'll take care of it now.》 His tongue wrapped yours again, but it was different this time.
The heat you felt was very strong and you began to feel something moving inside you, which forced you to tighten your inner thighs. Obviously, Katakuri noticed this.
《Not yet Y/n.》 He told you, in his low voice, in your ear. 《We have plenty of time to take care of it.》
He smirked when he heard a whimper from you. He wanted to please you, as he was looking forward to eating you like one of his delicious donuts, but decided it was still too early.
All he wanted was to make you comfortable while you enjoyed that long and unexpected journey.
- - -
During those long days, you did things you never did before.
For example, even though you lived on a small island surrounded by the sea, you never learned to fish and on that occasion it was quite fun.
Whenever you cast the hook with the ready-made bait, you were excited when you felt something sharply pull.
《Yeaaah, I got it! Katakuri, come to see thi-...!》 But after you brought the hook back up, there was nothing left there, including the bait.
Katakuri arrived just in time to see your sad face and tried to restrain himself.
《Well, now they'll know there's someone here to feed them.》
《Ha ha ha...very funny.》 You put the fishing rod inside its container, where it would stay there forever.
The ship was very large and full of cabins; certainly they were used by the crew during long voyages and you were curious to know which was Katakuri's. With his size, it was unlikely that there was one as large to accommodate him.
When you asked him, he continued to sip his cup of tea in complete tranquility and sat on a large bench under the mast.
《I never sleep during my missions, not even at night.》
Thanks to Brûlée, you knew that there was a legend behind his perfection and that no one had never seen him resting, much less lying down.
You knew it wasn't quite true, since he had slept with you and when he said it so seriously, it sounded cute.
《Heh, I didn't expect anything other than my perfect husband.》 You grimaced crossing your arms like him.
Katakuri kept staring at you out of the corner and got the feeling that you were making fun of him.
Suddenly, you couldn't move your feet anymore, as if they were stuck on the floor. You saw mochi under the soles of your shoes and you almost lost your balance.
The only way was to take them off and you ended up standing barefoot, your eyes fixed on the whitish, soggy expanse that moved in front of you.
《I liked those shoes...》
Katakuri made the mochi disappear.
《Mpf. You are always so predictable, Y/n. I'll buy you new ones when we get back.》
He leaned towards you, resting one of his biceps on his knee.
《You are my lovely wife, after all.》
Your rosy cheeks quickly turned red and you blinked to look away.
《I-I must go now.》
You tried to escape, but he grabbed your waist.
《You have nothing to do elsewhere.》 With the other hand he lifted your chin and waited for the kiss, but it didn't come.
《...what were you waiting for?》 You didn't forget how to tease him.
You stole the cup of tea next to him and took a sip.
《Mmm, delicious, I really needed it.》 You licked your lips, under the bored eyes of the other. Besides, he knew too that there was nothing to do with your arrogant attitude.
- - -
One day, a special evening came. Even the sunset was different from usual and, like a painting, it had been stained with various pink and purple hues, until it blended with the bright red of the horizon.
Katakuri told you to get ready, obviously without explaining anything first.
You jumped as soon as you opened the completely empty cabin closet.
《There's nothing here and I can't stay in these clothes!》 You searched around, but couldn't find anything inside the nearby drawers.
Just like going on a date, you didn't want to look bad, not with Katakuri.
You sat on the bed to come up with some ideas, when you felt something right below you.
《A package? Where is it from?》
Without thinking too much, you opened it by pulling off the blue ribbon that closed it.
Inside, there was a dress and a note that read:
Wear it tonight.
Brûlée couldn't stop yelling at me to get you this.
I hope you like it.
The dress was really pretty. Even if there was a hand of Brûlée, you were happy that Katakuri had thought of giving it to you in this circumstance.
Not having a comb or anything else with you, you sorted your hair as best you could by letting it fall over your shoulders and doing a side parting for your rebellious tuft.
Once ready, you hesitated to come out.
Finally taking the courage, you crossed the threshold of the cabin.
In front of you, the wooden balcony held a few lighted candles above it, which seemed to point you in a direction. You followed it.
Around the corner, there was a large round table set for two, with the chairs of different heights.
You looked around to see where your knight was until he appeared.
Your eyes shone brightly as soon as you saw him; for the first time, you saw him wearing a different outfit and you found him really elegant. Without a scarf, he wore a simple white shirt under a black tuxedo. He wasn't used to being tight, so he was unbuttoned down to the collarbones and without a tie.
Of the same color were the trousers, which covered his ankles and a pair of boots, but fortunately without spurs.
Meanwhile, Katakuri has been watching you for a while.
《You are beautiful, Y/n.》 He suddenly said smiling.
Obviously, it brought you a slight embarrassment. He had never said it before, not like that.
《Th-thanks...》 You pushed a few hairs behind one ear and Katakuri found it adorable.
《You are fine too, Katakuri.》
He didn't care about dressing in a particular way and would do it exclusively for you.
He accompanied you and made you sit down; you were surprised to see a little man, dressed in white, bringing you a rich appetizer.
《He's the one who's going to make dinner tonight.》 Katakuri said as he poured you some sparkling wine.
Each course was exquisite. After eating some snacks, it was time to get serious; the dishes contained cold, hot and fried fish, accompanied with fresh salads and good bread from your island.
Katakuri, even if with small bites, always cleaned the plate that came in front of him. Sure, you didn't have all that space in your stomach, but you managed to enjoy all of it before you were full.
You thanked the chef when he came back again to serve you dessert, who replied with a deep bow.
《Wow, this dinner was spectacular!》 You exclaimed rubbing your belly.
Katakuri was wiping his mouth with a cloth napkin and could only agree with you.
《Y/n.》 He called you.
《Yes?》
《Do you know what this day means...?》 You thought about it for a moment; it wasn't your birthday or his, so there was only one option left.
《Don't tell me it's...》 You announced, sure of what you were thinking.
《Yes.》 Katakuri continued the sentence.
《It's our anniversary.》
- - -
Seven months. You couldn't believe it had been so long. You felt guilty for not getting it right away and sighed heavily.
Not being used to these things, Katakuri didn't care if you forgot and doubted that you would do it again.
You toasted that lovely evening; shortly after, Katakuri stood up and knelt in front of you holding out a hand to you.
《I should have done this a long time ago...》 Your eyes started to get shiny. 《Charlotte Y/n, can you give me a dance?》
You smiled.
《Sure...》 You gave him your hand and he stood up with you. He began to move slowly around him; with one hand he was holding you under your thighs, while with the other he was entwining his fingers with yours.
There was no music. Just the sound of the ocean, a few seagulls and the wind shaking your hair and clothes, but it was fine with you.
《What's happening now...》 You started 《is really great and that's just because of you. I admit I didn't expect you to be a romantic type.》 You ended up with an innocent laugh.
《I'm not...》 You thought you ruined his mood with that.
《but I'll become one for you. I would never have done all this if you weren't here, with me.》
He kissed your hand. 《I love you, Y/n.》
- - -
You were literally speechless. It had never happened that someone did this to you and mess you with so little.
You couldn't think of anything except that you were loving him more and more.
You wrap your arms around him.
《I'll look like a teenager, but I've been waiting for you to say it for a long time.》 You rested your head next to his massive neck.
《I hope you can forgive me for what I did last time.》 He said softly.
You knew he was referring to the night he attacked you.
《I've already forgotten.》 You answered by stroking his hair behind.
《Also, it was a relief to know it was you...I would never have forgiven myself if it was someone else, due to my recklessness.》
Even if you said so, Katakuri couldn't forget how you had shivered with fright.
He continued to cradle you in his arms trying to chase that thought away in a moment so beautiful you were both going through.
- - -
The sky turned dark above you and it was starting to get cooler.
Katakuri suggested to go inside and prevent you from catching a cold.
He was about to open the door to your cabin when you squeezed the collar of his jacket in your hands.
《I...I want to be with you tonight.》
Katakuri chuckled.
《You know very well that we aren't going to sleep like this...》
《I don't care.》 You just said. Katakuri pleased you and headed for his quarters, which definitely had a larger space.
He made you sit on the bed; his face was in front of yours and he watched your mouth waiting for you to say something else.
He reached behind your half-naked back and felt you were cold.
《You caught cold, right? Fault of this dress...》 He told you seriously.
You folded your arms in front of your chest.
You already knew that what you were going to say shortly would have embarrassed you.
《...warm me up then.》 Katakuri didn't ask for better.
He dropped you onto the mattress and hugged you tightly to him as he kissed you around your neck, collarbones and behind your ears.
《What a good smell...you know I won't be able to hold back like this...》
He threw himself on your lips.
《I will savor every inch of this soft meat.》
You didn't know why, but that shook you.
You let yourself go to the kiss, letting out a few small moans; you were desperately looking for some air, but that did nothing but deepen the kiss each time you opened your mouth.
When finally there was a pause, you needed to catch your breath and tried to hide from his gaze.
《W-wait a moment, please...》
《Please? When did you get so shy?》 He smirked at your reaction.
《I'm not...and it's your fault...》 You felt like he was cornering you.
Katakuri wasn't bored, because every time he managed to discover a new side of you.
《That's wrong, my dear.》 He took off his jacket and threw it across the bed; he did the same with his shirt, unbuttoning it slowly.
《I will do what you asked, until you will be completely warmed up.》
